Had lunch there. Elegant Japanese ambiance. Staffs are great offering excellent services. Food are perfect. Fresh sushi with good variety. It’s not cheap but definitely value for money. Keen to come back again.

Visited for the first time. Restaurant is compact, 6 bar seats and 12 table seats with 2 wait staffs. Ordered the $130 sai course. I had high expectation because of the high price tag and boy they did not disappoint me. From snacks to the dessert, I love every single dishes. It reminds of the set dinner you get from a ryokan in Japan. I love that salmon is not included in the sashimi nor in the sushi, just getting a bit sick of salmon. The scallops and bamboo dish is memorable. It was the first time I had fresh bamboo shoot. It was a full house on a Saturday night but I didn’t not have to wait long for the foods. Each dish is served in a comfortable pace. Staffs are very friendly and polite. There is no time limit on the table, so there is no pressure to leave. It's inevitable for me to compare Shunsai to other Japanese restaurants which serve similar style of food and at a similar price point, like Sono. Sono's decor maybe a bit fancier but Shunsai serves much better foods. Haven’t had such a good Japanese food for a long time, not a cheap dinner but I’m very happy and satisfied. 100% will come back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It was amazing exprience. I and my partner went to this restaurant for our anniversary. I wanna give 10/10 points that especially Wague and Sushi was fantastic. It was the best Japanese restaurant I've been to in Brisbane. And staff so lovely girl . Thank you for food , Thanks Chef again. We 'definitely' go back. See you soon!

I found out this little gem Japanese restaurant where bring out Japan vibe into East Brisbane. Greeting by Japanese waitresses and they have two section one is seated table or you can choose to sit on 6 seated bar table and watching the chef/owner prepare our meal behind the bar. I am in love how cozy they are and remind me a lots when I was travelling Japan. What we had for Lunch Menu are: Kaiseki Bento $30 (By reservation only) (10serves/day) Season Appetizer,Sashimi,Simmered Dish, Grilled Dish, Deep fry Dish Steamed Rice, Soup Pork Katsu Set $38 (with no Appetizer $26) Season Appetizer Bread crumbed Pork cutlet Steamed Rice,Soup Dessert : : : #nutsjourney #japaneserestaurant #japanesefood #Brisbane #eastbrisbane

This small boutique Japanese restaurant offers a unique and authentic experience. The lunch menu offers a $30 chirashi set which includes dessert, or you could include an appetizer for a little extra. What is great about the chirashi set is that they include uncommon sashimi items in their dish including sea urchin, salmon belly, scallops and I believe something that tastes like cod. The set comes with miso soup as well. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant had a very traditional Japanese ambience. The lunch menu is very reasonably-priced. They do offer more fancier options at $170 pp though. Might be willing to give it a try another time. Overall, highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic lunch - one of the best chirashi bowl that I've had in Australia.

We dined in for the full shun course, and while the food and service were both fantastic and made us look back on our time in Japan.

We have one gripe, value for money simply isn't inline with the quality and or portion sizes, either the price needs to drop from 160 to around 100-120 ea, or the portion size of some dishes needs to be increased, I have never left a kaiseki restaurant not fully satisfied prior to this, and at this price point it is disappointing.

I hope they adjust this because we would love to come back and hope they're around for years to come, until then we will grab lunch (much better value) and give the kaiseki a miss.
Been to Shunsai a couple of times, for both lunch and dinner, and have enjoyed myself immensely every single time. The food tastes authentic and delicious , the chef is very experienced and dedicated, and the place is small and cosy. I love the small details for everything, every thing placed on the plate plays a part in the experience. Service is great and if you sit at the counter, you can ask the Chef about the meal, or anything really. Will definitely be back☺️❤️

Authentic Japanese food!
I’ve been to Shunsai for lunch few times before and everytime the food quality and service is superb! Unlike other Japanese restaurants I’ve been to in Brisbane and Gold Coast, Shunsai’s food quality and taste is very close to places I’ve been to in Japan.

Had lunch today with my husband. We ordered the sashimi set and the bento. Food was awesome. Chef even came out to say hello. Waitress was also most welcoming. All in all excellent experience will def be back again.

My wife and I had a wonderful time with a couple of friends at Shunsai last weekend. We had been longing for a Keiseki dinner ever since we took a trip to Japan a few years ago. It lived up to expectations with beautifully presented and tasty dishes. For dinner you have a choice of three degustation-style set courses. We opted for the largest course because it came with a wagyu dish we wanted to try. It may seem pricey at first glance but I would say this, Keiseki is an experience not just a meal. And in my view, totally worth the price. Make sure you try the saké also. A final note about the service and the staff. They were all lovely with the chef coming out to meet us towards the end of the meal. I have no complaints and would go again without reservation.

Had lunch today with my wife. Looks like it gonna be our monthly activity from now on. Every dishes are carefully created by the chef and you can feel his passion and pride for what he served. Wife promised me that she will take me for dinner to celebrate my birthday this year. Look forward the sake matching with Shun course. See you in May.

We have not had a surprising meal for long time. The food is very delicate, fresh. The Wagyu tartar was so fresh and tasty, but the egg cake is so Wooo, it has my favorite sea urchin inside.
The sushi is very fresh, the chef asked if i like cheese, i thought it was just normal cheese, he put brie on the eel sushi . It is mouthwatering.
It is seasonal menu, u never what you gonna get. The price maybe higher than other Japanese
restaurant, but you are paying for the the quality and the service, it is worth the price!!
My husband is planning to go at least once a month.

I went to lunch a few times and loved each time. Last night I tried dinner. I ordered Sushi dinner, which had 8 courses including traditional desert. Every dish was carefully crafted and beautiful to look at. The atmosphere is clean and comfortable almost Zen like, and the service is amazing. The wait person explains each dishes. The price is little higher than normal Japanese Restaurant, but you must try as Shunsai is not just an ordinary Japanese restaurant. I would definitely come back again.
