Review Passiontree Velvet - Brisbane

The sweets are wonderful and definitely worth trying. Staff is generally friendly. My ice chocolate, however, arrived in a very plain plastic cup and tastes blend - the chocolate milkshake has more chocolatey taste.

Have not had coffee here before, stopped to give it a try. Staff lovely however don't listen to your order, barrister too busy chatting to her friend leaning on counter and not paying attention to your coffee order, hence I won't be back, extra hot coffee was Luke warm.... wrong cake order and charged for, made to wait for a refund, not a happy customer..... only 3 stars today..

Whilst the staff are very nice and the food was lovely the high tea was a complete rip off. They charge $70 for 2 people for one triple layer tray. Whilst there was enough cake for two, the sandwiches were small and not sufficient. The scones weren’t fresh but heated up in the microwave, and the mini tarts were heated upon the microwave. Having paid less for a lot more, I feel very disappointed at the cost. Thank you to the lovely staff for trying to make the experience better.

Been here a couple of times. The coffee is good and staff seem nice but the cakes are a let down. They look a lot better than they taste. For $9.50 I expect something delicious and satisfying. I had the apple moose cake and it didn’t taste much like apple. It had a apple filling which is like what you get in a apple pie. There was no nice apple zing at all. Husband had the cake of the day which was a Victoria sponge and it was very bland and disappointing. Won’t be back unfortunately ☹️.

We enjoyed high tea at Carindale today. We were very impressed with the attentive and friendly staff, especially when they went out of there way to accommodate dietary requirements. The high tea was enjoyable and we particularly liked the array of sweets on offer. Would definitely visit Passiontree Velvet again, and I think it is a great addition to Carindale shopping centre.

I have always passed by Passiontree and thought I should try it out. So glad I did stop recently, the staff are excellent, very warm and friendly. Passiontree is very clean and tidy with plenty of tables - their long banquet seat is a popular spot. Choosing from their extensive cake selection was my only difficultly as everything looks delicious, they offer gluten free cake options and a coffee and cake deal for $10. I can recommend their fruit scones! Despite it's open air location - it's actually a very pleasant place to sit, relax and unwind. I will certainly stop in again on my next shopping trip to Carindale Mall.

My family bought the Picasso cake from Passiontree Velvet for my sister's birthday and it was amazing! We left buying a cake until the last minute and luckily they sell stunning cakes in store. The cake was absolutely beautiful, incredible quality and gorgeously decorated. It was a big hit with all my friends and family and we would definitely recommend their cakes to everyone!

Great coffee, friendly service. Food is really good and there is a cabinet full of amazing looking sweets and delicious macarons. Reasonably priced too. Never had a bad experience here. Coffee and cake deal $10

They had cute little kids high tea. The location is perfect for a little girly high tea with my young ladies. The high is steep for what you get but the service was great.

Went because of the high ratings. It was well decorated and the window display was half the experience. The macaroon was pretty good, but the coffee wasn’t.

It has been a year since our last visit so we come here for cake and coffee. Unlike their Indooroopilly outlet, there are not as many cakes on offer and we decide to drop the dessert. Our coffee is presented with nice Latte Art. Served hot and strong we like this flavoursome coffee. Well done Passiontree Velvet!

I like where it is in the shopping centre. The coffee is well made...but....Too expensive for what it is.
The "Belgium Style Waffles" are NOTHING like Belgian waffles. You get one tiny little waffle with chocolate sauce. Much too expensive for what you get. I think they need to get a little bit more of an education into what a Belgian waffle is before they serve up this flat, pancake looking thing. My Belgian husband was left missing home more than ever after trying this imposter!

Gorgeous kiosk exploding with class and attractiveness. Desserts are sublime but extremely overpriced. Delicious melt in your mouth goodness. Matcha lattes are to die for. Keep it up Passion Tree. Exquisite.

Passiontree Velvet has nice coffee and tasty macaroons. The chocolate macaroon was my favourite. Relatively quick service. Thanks, we look forward to trying some of the other macaroon flavours soon. I

Very expensive. My drink came out first, then my scones which were very nice but my son's food had not yet come out so he ate mine. He liked the iced chocolate (done up in an unusual way) and sort of liked the waffle.

One of my favourite patisseries. Last visit I tried the Cafe chocolate mousse cake which was rich in flavour but lovely and light in texture. The red velvet cake was moist and well balanced. The coffee was smooth and not bitter. The staff are always patient whilst I (little Miss indecisive) deliberate over the selection of sweets and are super friendly.

A nice place to relax and satisfy my sugar craving and coffee craving after walking and shopping around. Their coffee was dece which was unexpected because passiontree is noted for their deserts. The banana waffle I had was surprisingly good and the banana was not overly cooked or overly sweet.

I love Passiontree's coffee. Always carefully made and tasty. I have never had any of their sweets but their food menu has some good choices and what I have had has always been nice. Polite staff.

With the closing of Elizabeth arcade and the inevitable fact that Passion Tree would be closing sometime in the near future, a friend and I decided it was time to scope out their other store at Carindale, so that we could still have somewhere to go after the cbd store is gone. Arriving after an afternoon's shopping, we were surprised at how open the cafe was. Being a self proclaimed introvert, I usually avoid open cafes where other shoppers could stare at me or my food as I enjoy it.

Had the full duchess high tea for 2 people. Very expensive for the quality of the food. The cakes on top were all stale! Basically inedible! Very disappointed. The macaroon was nice but only average. The tea was delicious. Very average overall.

The "Duchess Full High Tea" here is decent value at $34.95 pp and everything on the stand is good quality. Love that you can splash out for Louis Roederer champagne too. I've been to Passiontree Velvet a few times now and have yet to be disappointed! My favourite items would have to be the strawberry cheesecake and caramel popcorn eclairs. Beautiful and delicious!

I went to Passiontree Velvet for afternoon tea today. It took quite a while for my cappuccino and salted peanut butter macaroon to come to the table. The coffee was okay. It could have been hotter and stronger but it was okay. The macaroon had a subtle flavour. I was looking forward to a salted peanut butter hit but it didn't quite deliver what I was expecting.

I keep coming here because it looks pretty and the cabinet display is amazing but am constantly disappointed by the SLOW service. Sooooo frustrating. No one seems busy or like they really care that people are waiting and they continually stand around chatting to each other which is obviously the main part of their role description. Once you receive your coffee it is nice and maybe that's the reason why I forget my irritation each time and go back.

Addit: gah tried again for afternoon tea
Word to the wise they don't close at 5, but at 4:30 EVEN for coffee and cakes. Downgraded review to a 2!
Had the full duchess high tea and it was beautiful! Very filling! Scones were so soft and fluffy and delicious even warm!! The little lemon meringue tart was a bit too tart for me. Highly recommended!!!!!!

Have my morning coffee and macaroon every day and it's awesome. The staff are fast and super friendly and always serve with a smile I recommend this place to everyone

Sweets on offer are amazing and taste great, tad overpriced to visit everyday but great for a special occasion.
Coffee looks great but admittedly doesn't taste that great.
Still it's a comfortable place and comfy seating.

We went there for my birthday and ordered the High Tea. It was delicious and loved trying their different sandwiches and desserts. The service was fantastic. Upon leaving I was pleasantly surprised with a bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates (on the house). Wow what a wonderful surprise. We had the best time. Recommend it to all my friends and family.

Great little dessert/treat café in Westfield Carindale, but also have one at Indooroopilly. Had the high tea, which is pretty good value for money. Maybe too many sweet treats, but can you really complain? All the desserts were fresh and super tasty. Coffee is good too. Great to relax and have a nice treat after a long day shopping!

It was ok, nothing to rave about. The coffee cups are a nice colour. We had the Devonshire Cream Tea - 2 scones and a tea or coffee. They ran out of plain scones, so we could only have fruit scones and the scones we did receive were dry and tasteless. They certainly didn't taste fresh, the cream was also too funny. For a place like this, we thought we would receive an experience and have mouth watering decadent food. We won't be going back to Carindale, however, may try Indooroopilly to see if they are any better if in the area.

I always had a sweet tooth and this place definitely hit the spot! Had the Caramelized Banana Crunch Waffle and it was delicious!! Would had been better if the pastry on top was little more crunchier that would have the perfect balance with all the elements in this dessert! Well done!!

Love the hot chocolate and the desserts always look amazing. Try to meet up here with friends especially mothers group as it is pram friendly located just outside the lift and kids stores! Can't wait to have high tea here

Best coffee in South East Brisbane, maybe even Queensland.....

Hot chocolate is spot on and their avocado on toast is a must.

100% worth a visit.

I like it. First time i looked at the menu i thought it a bit overpriced and it may well be. but - the croque monsieur was delicious, yummy bechamel sauce with tasty cheese. i've had he scones a couple of time, now they are more like rock cakes than fluffy scones like my mum makes- but they are great with the clotted cream and good jam. tea is hot, good quality and a refill is great if you are sitting around for a catch up. good place for grandparents, comfy seats, near a lift, i can recommend it

A touch pricey, but worth it.. Passiontree Velvet combines the English tea house, Parisian patisserie, and Belgian chocolatier to bring out the best of the three worlds. The atmosphere will be less obvious, as it is situated in an 'open-air' shopfront, unlike its older sister, having a building to itself. Nevertheless, its staff and the decor do their best to provide you a higher quality atmosphere. There are some classics from Passion Tree, with a fair few items unique to Velvet.

I ordered the Millefeuille and a selection of macarons on my first visit, and the Duchess Full High Tea and Parisian on my second.

The Millefeuille is a touch hard to break into, which is understandable, considering that it needs to retain its shape. The pastry is not flavoured much save for the dusting of icing sugar. The vanilla cream has the right amount of sweetness, and rounds of a lovely pastry. Don't worry too much about the crumbs falling onto the table - the serving plate will catch all of that.

The macarons have a bit of size consistency issues, but flavour makes up for it. The blackberry macaron retains the tartness of the berry, with the ginger macaron containing pieces of crystallised ginger and having a gingernut flavour. The aroma and flavour of passionfruit are well developed in its namesake macaron, and last but not least the strangest flavour of macaron to date, the basil macaron, doesn't taste too much like a plant, but the flavour is there (probably for the more adventurous of you out there).

Both the Duchess High Tea and Parisian feature different items from the menu: Ribbon sandwiches (Cucumber, Smoked salmon, Ham, and Egg & alfalfa), scone with jam and cream, and assorted pastries for the Duchess High Tea, and Madeleine, Tiramisu, Macaron tart and Chocolate choux (profiterole) for the Parisian. As I'm partial to desserts, they taste absolutely devine.

Living up to its name, the prices are obviously higher compared to Passion Tree, but it pays off because of the amount of love put into the foods. Extras such as cream and Ice-cream are available for the pastries at an additional charge, the same for drinks (mug size/extra shot/syrups).

All in all, Velvet is something you'd definitely want to experience not just by yourself but with friends as well.

I agree with the review below with regard to the prices being a little high for the cakes here but they do look wonderful! I tried the coffee & it was quite good, well poured & good strength. One of the better coffees I have had in this shopping centre. I was kept waiting a fair while however & they were not busy

26/2/16 Return visit for a perfectly poured & presented coffee. The flavor & strength were spot on thanks

ON POINT. The Millefeuille is one of the nicest desserts I've had in a long time. I also had a very nice latte. Impressed and will visit again when in the area.

Mixed emotions. The staff seem nice enough but the pricing for cakes are quite high.. looks nice but not sure i would pay so much for so little

I recently had the pleasure of trying out Passiontree Velvet with a couple of lovely ladies. They opened just a few weeks ago at Westfield Carindale and can be found infront of JB Hi Fi. It's a branch off of the original Passiontree dessert cafe in the city however, they differ where

There are macarons in all the colours of the pastel rainbow as well sponge, chocolate and crème anglaise fancies, elegant ganache and mousse creations, scones and of course, chocolate truffles. PT Velvet offers a range of High Teas to enjoy with friends and family such as the classic Devonshire (scones, jam & cream), The Duchess (scones, sandwiches and dainties) and the Ch

I'm really glad that there is a macaron vendor accessible to me. I know that perhaps macarons aren't as trendy as they once were but for me, it's always been about the taste. They are so yummy! The macarons from Passiontree were as good as any I've tried. They don't come in any crazy outlandish flavours but if you, like I, are happy with the generics, then these will be sure to please.

Little Monster loves the macarons at their sister shop Passion Tree in the CBD :) Passiontree Velvet is located on the second floor at the Glasshouse of Westfield Carindale, I love the catchy blue and white decor and it feels so calm and tranquil.
