Review The Yiros Shop South Brisbane - Brisbane

We were at Zeus this week. Lovely place and great hospitality. Food was awesome. Man, those four dips.. my favourite was the egg plant dip. We took away our leftover lamb (no photos though), my son loved it. We'll definitely return..

Nice variety of seating options. Spacious for a weekday lunch. Very friendly and attentive staff. As much as you can ask for in this style of restaurant. The menu seemed reasonably priced but a bit more questionable once the the food was served - Spartan bowl felt small. Mind you, it took a while to get through so it was probably appropriate. The bread and chicken were both really good, but the slaw was super simple and the serving of the dip was small. Overall, would return, would recommend, probably a food option to weigh up alongside grill'd, burrito bar and GyG.

Food was super fast and service was great . We ordered from the table on the app , some of the items were slightly more expensive for some reason but only by 50c. You can always order from the counter but it’s great that they have the option. All food was as described and tasted good . Food was priced right .

Halloumi chips were maybe fine. But the Zeuss wrap and my friend's Hades wrap were just drowned in mayo. My pita bread was dry and chewy, maybe a little too burnt. Nothing tasted fresh. The lamb was chewy and tough. Cabbage had a weird smell. Sigh... I couldn't finish my pita. We didn't like it but the bin chicken seemed to really enjoy it the moment we left.

Great location and accessible from Grey street and Little Stanley. It is clean with friendly staff. The food lives up to what one would expect of Greek food. Great sharing options and nice atmosphere.

Overpriced for what you get and poor service. Would expect more lamb when paying $24.50 for a Spartan bowl. Also shouldn't have to ask for cutlery to eat or table water but had to. With so many better options around will not be back.

Came here for dinner and would definitely recommend! Food was nice and prices are very affordable. Great ambience too, with lovely views of Southbank. Thank you!

The portion sizes are criminal, looks like it’s been half eaten. if I could give no starts I would. Ordered off Uber eats food got delivered cold and burnt. Won’t be ordering here again, would advise against it, unless you like giving away money. :) P.s I bit into the salad and they don’t even have pitted olives. So I ended up almost breaking a tooth on the olive.

I had the worst experience at the Yiros Shop South Bank k. I had tzatziki dropped on me and my online order took 30 minutes.
We arrived at the Yiros shop at 620pm on Saturday, 22 February 2020. I saw an ad on the windows to "skip the line and order ahead with our app".
I made my order on the app at 6:23pm. My group of friends ordered around 6:30pm and their food arrived around 6:40pm. As their food is being delivered to our table by the staff, the tzatziki dip came off the tray, landed on the floor and exploded upwards, putting tzatziki splatter on our clothes and bags. The staff apologised and gave us rags to clean ourselves.
After 30minutes at 6:53pm, my phone gave me a push notification to say my food was ready. I ordered a chicken snack and a chicken salad. The snack pack was nice, but the chicken in the salad was cold. I will not be going back to the Yiros Shop South Bank. I can't wait 30 minutes for an online order and I don't want to to put my bag through the wash again.

YIROS SHOP🥳 we visit the YIROS shop in South Bank & although it’s not the real deal You’d get in Greece for half the price its definitely close 🤤 and delicious! 🇬🇷 if your after a quick Greek fix check out the YIROS shops around Brisbane! We found this is the closest we’ll get to having another Greek YIROS until we head back to the motherland for the real stuff 🇬🇷 Still very yummy though 😋 We ordered a shared platter and a chicken yiros. Both are delicious and still very filling.

See our full video review on our facebook page Kikiandthegreeky

✅ Kiki & The Greeky approved ✅

my go to place in Southbank

Hangry. You would be too if after waiting for 40 minutes, they have no record of your order!
#kikoscale 5/10
#food #foodie #brisbanefoodie #brisbanefood @entertainment_au #entertainmentbook_brisbane @theyirosshop #riverfire #riverfire2019 👁 7/10 the meat already looked so dry and overcooked.
.
🗣1/10 fair enough that they are busy, but to completely forget our order, then be able to remake it in 2 minutes makes me question what went wrong.
.
🧠 7/10 my pork belly was dry, chips were soggy. Definitely doesn’t take 40 minutes to make. Bit of indigestion to follow.
.
💰 buy one get one free with the entertainment card, regular price $13.80
.
🏞 haven’t had the best of luck. There is a sign on the wall that says Hangry, I can understand why, we waited 40 mins for 2 yiros because they lost our order.
Spice Is Life
Stopped by for lunch and gave the beef yiros a go. For $13.80, it was okay- nothing amazing. Portion was smaller than expected in comparison to price, but I guess that’s what you expect for being in a prime location in South Bank.

Really enjoyed the halloumi yiros - soft pita, squeaky halloumi, Greek-style salad and crispy chips. Sadly, all the salt kind of hits you an hour afterwards and you don’t feel that great.

Have tried out the Yiros Shop franchise previously to the visit at this branch & enjoyed the food. Admittedly it's Greek fast food concept but it's done well & simply. The only fault I had that night we visited was they were out of lemon potatoes! Ordered the Greek salad instead which was really quite good, plenty of cheese tomato & olives & enough to share. Our yiros were also large with crunchy chips, could have been more vegetarian patties in mine but still all good, tasty & fresh

My partner and I had dinner at The Yiros Shop in Southbank on Friday and it was delicious. We shared the calamari, a pork belly Yiros and the Greek topped chips with lamb. The calamari was perfect, very crispy and a great flavour as well with the Yiros and lamb in the chips. Food was served quite quickly as the restaurant was packed because of an event in Southbank. If you want something a little Greek stop at the Yiros Shop.

had a lamb yiro and it was quite good and filling. bit small place so wouldn't recommend for large groups but totally okay for 2-3people to hang out. service was good and fast

Update: this place is getting worse :( a huge disappointing, it doesn’t seem this is the same place I tried it before!!
When it comes to greek cuisine I always go with lamb. I had Pita Yiros Lamb, the taste was so good, the tzatiki sauce was so tasty, BUT it has no lamb inside:( I could barely found few pieces of meat inside the pita!
Honestly it was disappointing, overpriced compared to the portion and the stuff quality.

Absolutely love love loveeeee Yiros! I've always loved Greek food and Yiros is as Greek as it gets :) Can pretty much go for a chicken Yiros anytime which might not be healthy but it's tasty

We had two yiroses with veggi patty. They were very tasty in the fluffy pitta and the layer of yogurt with aioli and fries. It’s good for casual or takeaway dining.

What better way to cure a hangover then chowing down a bowl of meat and chips. This place is your ideal place for meat and chips. They also have meat in yiros wrap. Initially i thought this would be very filling but the bread was surprisingly light and fluffy.
Disillusionist
Had the lamb yiros. Shouldn't have bothered. Pita bread was doughy, lamb was bland and full of gristle, overall the whole thing was greasy and unpalatable.

Really yummy and huge portion. I've always added chips to sandwiches and burgers, so great the rest of the world is catching up. My lamb shoulder was quite difficult to eat however, due to large pieces. If it was shaved like a kebab would have been a million times better.
We have recreated this meal at home many times now, but do hope to return to get the real deal.

Was relunctant to get this as my first experience wasnt amazing. But my friend and I needed to make a decision quickly, we were keeping to a schedule & wanting something reasonably healthy for dinner before a show at QPAC...I was pleasantly surprised. The meal we ordered was tasty takeaway Greek food. We both ordered a yiros plate and it was actually really delicious. Not bad price for what we ordered. Chips had plenty of seasoning, pulled lamb was very well matinated, salad had lots of dressing, feta and good quality olives (not those cheap rubber tasteless things you get on takeaway pizza). Would get this again.

My lamb came out of a container kept hot in they're display, it wasn't shaved off the spit because it looked like it was boiled. No seasoning on meat whatsoever and tzatziki was just yoghurt with a hint of garlic and nothing else. Not worth the money whatsoever. I'd rather. The cbd one is much better and more flavoursome. Staff were nice though that's about it.

Another food checked off my list✔️- the yiro feels very similar to sharwarma which is a Middle Eastern wrap which I've grown up eating living in Qatar and for the price I've paid for, it is definitely worth it and if you've never tried Greek food before, now it's the time😄.

I got a salad in which the rocket was so rotten I had to throw away the whole lot... Thats because the salad was not washed and rotten bits taken out... Really disgusting :( I won't eat a salad from there again
Faran Rowhani Farid
Well that was disappointing. Screw you Instagram bloggers and your incentivised fake news, Sad! All jokes aside, this place looks fantastic but was frankly unpalatable. The lamb was not cooked nor seasoned properly which left a gamey taste that could only be cleansed with some heavy duty cleansing product ie cola. The chicken was just as disgusting, fatty and bland.

Do yourself a favour and only get the haloumi fries or better yet, don't go at all.

#lookscanbedeceiving #shame

It was alright- I've been to a few others and they are all good at keeping consistency.

Counter service staff were nice, partner enjoyed the special sauce- me not so much. Not sure if there was cinnamon in it but it tasted like it. Bread was delicious

Chicken well seasoned and they do a $10 special on Tuesdays.. which is what we got.

Not receptive staff and not worth the price. Yiros were not as warm as I'd like and the chips were not as crunchy as I'd expect fries to be.
Itsyenyabish
Too soggy, carby and heavy. The meat was over cooked, dry and tough and the sauce was quite bland. Nothing special. On the plus side, the chips were quite crunchy.

Finally got around to trying this place and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere in the shop is so inviting and the staff are super friendly, its nice being able to see your meal being prepared right in front of of you, and allowing you to have your input as the go along! The food itself is sooo good! Fluffy yummy pita bread, lovely choices of meats, fresh salads and sauces to die for! Will definitely be coming back

Probably the best fast food restaurant around and probably a lot healthier than any other fast food. I love yiros. I enjoy the lamb plates at the Yiros shop. The staff at Southbank are friendly and attentive.
Highly recommended if you love yiros. Although, I have found food quality can vary on the day!!

I am now obsessed with Yiros. Since visiting The Yiros Shop I constantly am craving one. The special sauce that is smothered over your yiros is simply amazing and everything put together is outstanding.

I was underwhelmed. Chicken no flavour, though moist and nice crispy edges. Before they'd even started making my yiros old mate had served my chips, in a basket, so open to the air, dead cold by the time I sat down. (pet hates are being served food on chopping boards and those open baskets that just let the heat out) rookie error, should've had the salad, it looked good. Will try lamb and the salad next time and reserve judgement. Will have more of every sauce next time too, needs more garlic/lemon, something.

Had not heard of this place before seeing a Scoopon Voucher. Really enjoyed the lamb at the Southbank store and will be back to try the pork.
Meatballs And Beef Cheeks
I've been to The Yiros Shop four times and have enjoyed the pork and chicken yiros. I like the fact that you can get bowls of the meat as a side dish as well (twice the meat for half the cost of Zeus' naked souvla). Good option for low-carb lifestyle as well...bowl of meat and side of haloumi. Make sure the meat is crispy/hot...otherwise the fat can be chewy. When hot it melts in your mouth.

Walked around southbank the other day, and saw this new little gem...didn't know this is already the 3rd addition to the family. If you are by yourself the Yiros is really big enough for u =) that day got 2 of us so we ordered a lamb plate, comes with salad and chips, amazingly generous size for the 2 of us =) good food with happy tummy happy face.

The third one in the line from the company's brain-child, this one finds itself just a bit shy of the South Bank IMAX and a short distance from the TAFE campus and stations. Well situated for a quick walk in, it looks like it will become another favourite of many. This place is not aiming to be rustic, nor is it aiming to be "Australian" Greek. What is aims to do is carry on a multi-generational recipe that still resonates to this day.

Just after knocking off work, I was bound to go down to the Gold Coast to stay with my parents for the weekend. Since it was around lunch-time, I felt that getting a bite to eat before getting on that train was needed. With a few ideas in mind to meet the better choices - quick, fairly cheap and whatnot. Finger food was definitely a preference in this regard. It was down to a couple of ideas, and what it ended up being was this place.

They have streamlined the entire process down to accomodate the lunch-time rush. Service comes in from the left, where you place the order, pay and they go down the line, adding on the salad items and topping the meal up where asked. It is then paid for down the end, and you take the order to where you want to sit. It is quick and no-nonsense: a perfect model and for once, nearby workers might not have to succumb to anything resembling "fast food" as a result. In other words, don't expect service with frills. As for how it looks, the shop is fairly plain and has a typical takeaway aesthetic. Some seating is facing the window, in one long bench, and there are a number of al fresco tables.

Most of what is on this menu is yiros: that is some tender rotisserie meat in a pita wrap. Tomatoes, red onion, parsley, fries and tzatziki are added on, making this one substantial meal in and of itself. You can choose from chicken, pork, lamb or halloumi. Or have a plate without the pita, or have it with the pita and make it a meal by adding a Greek salad or fries plus a drink to the side. A bunch of sides are also available (including the usual pita bread and dip), plus for the sweettooth some loukoumades (Greek doughnuts) and baklava are on offer at this post. They also have a breakfast menu where it offers some rustic fare plus a few familiar favourites.

When I went here, it was a pork yiros combination with Greek salad, and I got a bottled water to drink. Hey, I am trying to be healthy here. What I got was quite good, and it is served on a serving platter. There was so much filling in it, that it was difficult to pick up by hand without all of the items spilling everywhere. That is a sign of some generosity with filling, and I always like to see it.

The meat was succulent, and so it should have been after so long cooking slowly on the spit. I got really lucky and managed to get some of the pork skin, delicious and shimmering as it is. That delivered a good crispiness on top of the tender meat that was also accompanying. As well as good quality meat, the feta cheese and tzatziki added on were creamy and had some sharp flavours, plus it got some dimension of flavour and aroma with the salad items. Being one who cannot resist putting the fries on my burger when I get the two together, that is no different when the fries are with something like this. Adding those suckers onto an item is always worthy of bonus points, especially for no extra cost. These were hot and fresh, plus well seasoned. And it was one good handful, probably from something with a big hand to stuff them in.

Onto the salad, this was a generous portion as well. It was a mixture of tomatoes, cucumber and red onion. All of these items were plump and fresh, particularly the tomatoes in which made up the majority of the salad. They were juicy and sweet, the onions added a little bit of crunch and there was an olive-oil based dressing poured over the mixture. And how could I be foolish to not mention black olives, because there were quite a few black olives in here, plus crumbled feta. All this to make a colourful, rounded salad.

All of this made for one meal that more than satiated for the next few hours. Yiros is certainly welcome here and has found a niche not quite matched from the seemingly endless options along this strip of an eatery buffet. It is not the best Greek, not by a long shot. What it is is wholesome, quick and tasty. It has a simple menu for a simple meal.

I have mentioned it, if not alluded to it many times before, but ever since I started to review there has been a bit of a turn-around for eateries that combine budget with quality. This is, yet again, one example of that. Not only is it affordable and half-decent, but it also is really filling for a cheap enough price. By any stretch of the imagination, this is not fine dining or something to go to for a quality, full sit-down meal. However, whether it is sole dining, or getting some folk together and have it a la tapas, they cater well to that. As a quick bite to eat (like it was for me) the Yiros Shop is far more than a satisfying feed. For that, it deserves credit (hence a 4.0 to show it has given a working effort).

Excellent yiros
The closest your gonna get to a melbourne souvlaki.
After eating a medioka cheeseburger over the road we saw the yiros shop and went round 2 for the best lamb souv ive had in brisbane
The best jerry. The best!

How do you make a kebab better than it already is? You add chips, of course! Consistently great quality meat used for these tasty morsels which makes us oh so happy.

Delicious! I definitely recommend this place. The meat is so tasty and the service very friendly. I have never been to the other Yiros shops in Brisbane so I tried for the first time when the store opened at South Bank.
