I love it here! I often stop in on my lunch breaks because I know the service is excellent and the food will arrive quickly. I enjoy getting the kimchi pork soup special the most lately
Delicious fried chicken + good serving sizes + excellent price. Couldn’t ask for more!
Yum yum yum. The hot stone bowls, soups, fried chicken and kimchi fried rice are all great. I’m hoping to try the hot pots soon.
Definitely one of my go to Korean restaurants in the CBD, prices are a little steep but it’s great for groups!
Authentic Korean food and service. Cosy booth type tables available for a semi private dining experience in a grungy and funky underground venue. The fried chicken is good quality and flavour. Would definitely return when the Korean cravings hit
Loved everything ❤️ amazing customer service. We kept asking for more side dishes and the staff did not seem annoyed at all. Will definitely be back!
I love ttopbokgi (korean spicy rice cakes). Although I’m bad with spicy things, it’s the only spicy food I will eat! This spicy creamy rice cake was perfect 🤤 the creaminess really works well with the ttopbokki and fish cakes! There was even an egg. My partner and i were satisfied by the end of the plate. Soooo worth it
Wow! Very generous lunch specials - some nice healthy options here. Each special comes with side dishes too which is great value. The place is tucked away in a basement but has a relaxed Korean pub vibe, might be worth checking out for drinks and fried chicken some time.
This is a great place to bring friends and family to eat. Their chicken was absoloutly amazing and food in general was full of flavour which is why so many people loves this place!
Bull Bar was bit pricey compared to other Korean restaurants. I used to come to this place since they used to have partitions between the table that made it comfortable to talk with friends. However, the last time I came here, the partitions were removed and the noise inside the restaurant was deafening. I could not really talk with friends since we could not hear each other.
However, it offers a lot of dishes that made it stand out from the others. My favourite dishes are Kimchi Fried Rice with Cheese, Boneless Deep Fried Spicy Chicken with Cheese, and Deep Fried Garlic Chicken. The garlic chicken was amazing, can do no wrong with that. Loved the combination of kimchi fried rice on top of melted cheese that was also complemented by sunny side up. The resulting dish was creamy and cheesy, but I could keep eating it. Also adored the chicken+cheese combo. The spicy chicken itself was not that kind of peppery, spicy flavour that made you cough or gulp too much water, therefore it matched well with the melted cheese. It's also fun to eat as we could roll or dip the chicken into the cheese.
Other dishes were also pretty good. The bibimbap, bulgogi jabchae, and topokki were in big portion and tasted nice. Overall, it was a good place to eat Korean food in CBD, but not for having a relaxed chat with friends :')
I ordered the fried chicken bibimbap it was delicious, filling. ( great quantity) couldn’t finish it all. The chicken was amazing and bursting with flavour. Loved all the condiments.
This place was always full whenever we passed by. It’s packed when we arrived, and a few people were waiting for their tables. While we were hesitating whether we should wait or go somewhere else, staff was very helpful and convinced to get us a table sooner. It’s faster than expected to have a table ready for us. Tried their hotpot long ago but not the best we had had. This time tried their korean spicy fried chicken, and not disappointed. The chicken was deviously crispy with a super sticky and savoury bite. Cheers, Bull Bar.
So much fun. The boneless fried chicken is delicious & the portions are immense. Have it along with some refreshing & rather potent Korean soju. The okonomiyaki wasn't the best I've had but some of the hot pots looked rather delicious so we'll have to try them soon.
Excellent fried chicken during lunch! It was crispy and flavoursome! Chips weren't all that special, just your average French fry. The cheese kimchi fried rice was quite tasty, cheese was good! A very classic Korean restaurant lunch.
I am a loyal customer to the Korean place above this joint but I thought i should take the plunge and try this place. I’m glad I did! Kimchi jiggae was so good! Nice and sour - a lot better than many of the other korean places in the city. I am half Korean so I’m picky. I also appreciate it when they understand me when I order in korean... it’s comforting and makes me have more faith in the dishes. I’ll be returning!!
I went here a lot of times already, either with my friends or family. The price is very reasonable - tasty in large servings. I especially love the bulgogi and spicy pork which is in the picture. It is my all time favourite there. I also love the honey chicken. Both dishes only costs $30 each. The last I went there, I was with my family and with those 2 dishes, we were able to takeaway some. The only flaw that I saw in the restaurant are their limited selection of drinks. I suggest that they should have banana milk or strawberry milk, milktea or atleast iced tea pitcher. Not every customer drinks alcohol. Overall, I love it very much.
This place is a regular go to for late night food. The staff are (mostly) always friendly, the food is super tasty and comes out quickly and they have a good range of soju.
We had the
cheese pancake - too cheesy for me, but not lacking in flavor
Kin chi pancake - heavy on the kimchi, one of the best versions in Brisbane
Cold soba with beef - perfect after a hot day
Veg bibimbap - delicious
I've been here a few times. The food is quite good, affordable and service is fast. There is a great vibe about this place - booths and music. I would recommend it for a lunch do, or snack before hitting the city.
My first year as a uni student I reckon I ate here at least once a week. The food here is so delicious, whether you're visiting for dinner or for lunch the day after a big night out.
All time favourites of mine include:
- Seafood soup / hot pot
- Kimchi or seafood pancake
- Fried chicken with cream
Staff are friendly too and super responsive to the little bell thing :)
Food is okay, waiting time for a seat on a Friday is extremely long, and unlikely. But service is alright, food comes out piping hot. Pricing is good, and decor is lovely. The concept of the writing on the booths is creative and cute. Nice spot to go after work or for a night out.
Great little below ground level restaurant serving Korean standards. Had the Spicy Marinated Pork and the Bulgolgi and Rice, both of which were great. Atmosphere is great thanks to the booths being decorated with many years of customers scrawlings and pictures, the lighting kept low and K-Pop playing in the background.
Perfect place for a group meet. Hot pots galore and probably the best korean fried chicken in town. Place is rustic, service is good and each table has a digital bell that ensures you don't have to shout to get service, price is super reasonable and they have all sorts of flavoured makgoli and soju. Highly recommended!
The place is abit small but quite nice. We ordered spicy crispy chicken, teriyaki pork belly, and seafood tofu soup (if i am not mistaken, forgot the name). The crispy chicken and pork belly came in a very big portion. The seafood soup came with a bowl of rice. The crispychicken was good but it wasnt spicy enough for me. The pork belly was also good, however, the seasoning wasnt mixed properly. Most of it were on the bottom of the hot plate so I could barely taste the teriyaki flavour. the pork belly was served in a big cut and it had a good texture. The soup was okay.
Favourite bibimbap with slow cooked beef! Do like it with the fried egg and a lot of veggies, also the service is quick so don't have to wait for a long time.
Most reasonably priced Korean restaurant in Brisbane, and the servings were pretty big too. The staff were nice and it wasn't too busy. Overall it was very good, even if the banchan were few.
This is one of my go to places for Korean food. I usually alternate between Maru, Matdongsan and here. The options are good and have all your Korean favourites. The prices are decent and they have good lunch specials. I ended up sharing a big kimchi tofu stew with my friend. Lots of tofu and ingredients and it came with two bowls of rice. On other occasions I came here for the lunch specials which was pretty good. The portions are decent size and just nice.
We ordered the cold noodles and raw beef bibimbap. It tasted pretty good. The serving size was reasonable and the kimchi that they served as a side dish was pretty good. However, service was a little slow as it took us a very long time to order. I would come back again, but only during lunch time as they have lunch specials.
Update: I've been here a total of 4 times and I'd definitely come back for their affordably priced lunch specials. I also tried their blood sausage and intestine soup which was really delicious. I love their bibimbap and their bento sets as well.
Great atmosphere at this restaurant, perfect place to go with a group of friends for a laid back but great meal. Have been here more times than I can count and have never been disappointed. Their staff are mostly all helpful and kind and the majority of the time been a pleasant experience, sometimes hard to get their attention but I think that's just due to the set out of the restaurant. Probably would rate it a 3.5-4 star. Have tried their bimbimbap, bulgolgi, cold soba noodles, spicy kimchi pork, kimichi fried rice, leek pancake, bulgolgi soup, tteokbokki, karaage and some of their stews. All of which have been good solid hearty meals and I can't complain with any of them.
As explored in previous reviews The Dear Luncher loves nothing more than pressing buttons. Bull Bar has a service button and this eliminates any awkwardness around waving people down for service. The equation was simple: chicken and beer. Bull Bar delivered in spades. Ample chicken, beautifully fried. Swimming in a glorious bed of cream sauce. Each and every bite was savoured. Service was fast as well. The Dear Luncher highly recommends this establishment.
I love Bullbar...one of my fav Korean restaurants in brisbane city. Fair prices for the portions. Food are deliciously made. I love their cheesy spicy chicken in stone pot rice!
Come here often for drinks and dinner.
I've tried various dishes on the menu- a memorable one is no 129, stir fried spicy chicken and rice balls on hot plate. It may be spicy for some people but it is SO tasty! I shared this with my boyfriend and we were stuffed.
I think here the customer service is better than some other main korean restaurants (i.e. noritor) so it makes me want to come back here more!
Oh and try the dish with makgeolli!
EDIT: this restaurant is the only place ive been going (in the CBD) for korean food !!
Authentic Korean food in a cozy layout that is great for families or for friends.
The food is excellent and well-priced given the location and considering what you pay anywhere else in the city.
Had half the menu at this point and few items disappoint.
I've been here many many manytimes. A great Korean restaurant with reasonable price and good services. I recommend the beef soup here, which is my favourite.
Been here several times. I have tried the chicken with cream cheese which served with raw onion. It is too "cheesy" for my friend but tastes amazing for me. Ordered the black noodle jjajangmyeon, suits me as it is not too salty. Ordered budae jjigae, some kind of hot pot with noodles that tastes great although it is a bit too spicy for me. Also, tried cheese kimchi which simply tasted like egg and cheese with tomato sauce on top.
2020 Review:
Back here and found out that they no longer serve the chicken with cream cheese. So, I ordered the deep-fried chicken with soy sauce and the boneless deep-fried spicy chicken with cheese. Both are amazing; crunchy texture splattered with the tasty sauce. On top of that, the one with cheese was not as spicy as I expected; perfect to be eaten with rice. Also ordered the Sausage & Ham Hotpot, which are perfect for sharing during cold days. Moreover, the portions were generous, worth the price.
Great Korean food in a pretty relaxed atmosphere.
Plenty to choose from, clear pictorial menus and lots of drinks at hand.
Sneaky Korean convenience store next door for plenty of treats afterwards.
Value is good, but not great enough to make it a regular.
Doesn't split bills.
I normally get my kimchi jjigae fix from Madtongsan II upstairs -- however tonight I decided to break routine and give Bull Bar a shot. There was a small queue for tables on Friday night ~6:30pm, however it moved very quickly. Found their version of Pork Kimchi Stew a little spicier than I am used to, which was good! Service was fast, plenty of staff on this evening. Nothing really wowed me, but I'd say an overall good choice for Korean in the CBD. The real test will be coming back with a big group of friends for booze and fried chicken...
For $15 was happy with the meal, generous serving portion and filled with flavour. Raw beef bibimbap in the photo. Just typing to reach character min.
I went here for lunch on a sunday. It wasn't the first time here, as I've been numerous times before for fried chicken. This has to my favourite dish at the restaurant. The only let down is that they charge $2 for spring onion, which is usually included in the dish. The sweet and sour pork was also not up to expectation. I would only come back to satisfy my fried boneless chicken cravings. In the mean time, I'll be looking for more places that have comparable chicken!
Walked in for lunch on the weekend. Only a few other people around, both ordered bibimbap, one with shredded beef and one spicy beef. Plain one wasn't as tasty as the spicy version but both were yummy and not as garlicky or buttery as some other versions.
Do not be deceived by the heat as you walk down the stairs, once u get down, it is comfortably cool. Most tables are compartmentalised by what looks like graffitied cork boards. It felt odd at first, however these cork boards act as a sound barrier to the other diners. It almost feels intimate sitting in one of these booths.
We had spicy pork dolsot bibimbap and kimchi pork stew. Both were not the best versions we've had. But it was sufficiently good. The kimchi side dish however, was a clear favourite. The service is super quick. In fact the waitresses seem like they brisk walk to every 'call for help'. The table beside us cleared and in no time, like vultures, they descended upon the dirty dishes and cleared the table in record time. And sanitized the table too!
Can't say I'd rush back. But I will recommended it if you are looking for a Korean fix in town
We thoroughly enjoyed a boneless spicy chicken hot pot and a plate of deep fried chicken. So very delicious! We will definitely be back to try more of what the generous menu has to offer. Such a find!

I like their place so muchhh! The atmosphere made me feel like eating in Korea hahaha. Just tried their 2 different types of udon and fried chicken. Because I love cheese, I like their fried chicken :D
Their food's portion was so big. Maybe it will be better if you share the food.
A fun, clean Korean place with good food and friendly staff. Lots of alcohol discount packages so it's good for a few drinks with friends, as most Korean joints are. Id
Tucked away on the underground level on Elizabeth street, Bull Bar is where we usually go to get late night drinks with a big group of friends as they open until 2 in the morning. First thing you'll notice when you get into this place is the quirky art works on the walls and partitions drawn up by customers like us. Feel free to bring colourful markers with you but it will take some effort to find empty space to draw on.
They have many sets of alcohol on the menu for groups of all sizes. Other than Soju, Traditional Korean alcoholic drink as we all know 😉, Somac is very popular among Koreans and Korean wannabe. 😊 It is basically a shot of soju in a glass then top with cold beer to full. They have everything you need for just that in these sets. Also they have recently brought out $9 dishes for any purchases of alcohol. They sure know their market.
Food is also good. I have only been here twice for just food but many more times for Somac and add-ons. I loved their cold noodles. Their deep fried chicken is great, so as all sorts of Korean pancake. I should put stars on ☆☆the pancakes☆☆ cause they are our most favourite thing to eat here and they compliment the beer so nicely.
Service is great and efficient everytime we have been here. Can't wait to bring more friends to this place. We always have a good time here.
Slick Chef Extraordinaire. Gangster Of Food.

Bull bar restaurant is a great spot to dine with a larger group of friends, heaps of share plates and the soju and beer specials are so cheap! They are open really late every night so it's an awesome place to unwind and have a some nice food after a hard night on the town... Or even start the night here with a few rounds of soju shots, beers and korean drinking games!
I love this place! Whenever i'm in the city this is were I go to eat. They're so friendly and always have a smile on their face, I love it so much I wish I could go there every day!
Nice food here. Went to have lunch with my friends and the environment there is wonderful! The fried chicken with cheese is amazing and I strongly recommend it. The service is also good and love this place!
busy night yesterday (Wednesday night) ... lucky we got the table earlier at 625pm...so we don't have to wait. is located at the basement but you won't miss it cause it got quite a big neon logo on the street. food was so-so as usual. never surprise me but never disappoint me.
One of the places I frequent for Korean Cuisine and have brought a few of my friends to, I love how cosy it is and the wide variety they have. I have had many of my go-to dishes here (Kimchi jjigae - Kimichi Stew, a beef rib stew) as well as Soy Garlic Korean Fried Chicken (try it - a bit pricey if you're used to KFC but it's extremely good) and many other dishes.
The side dishes (if you're not familiar with eating Korean food, they provide some small side dishes - usually Kimichi etc when you order food) are also good, because with some places they they give you over-fermented Kimchi and stale side dishes.
Also if you like social drinking and eating - I recommend this place, as it provides great drinking food (some the dishes are actually intended to be eaten with alcohol/in groups) and is open until 1-2 am!
Walked past this place on route to Madtongsan and ended up going in as they menu which was stuck on the window looked enticing and we wanted to try! We has since come back twice! The service is quick and efficient and our waitress always smiled as she walked past tables with customers. On this occasion, we decided to try something non spicy for a change and opted for bulgogi soup with rice and the steamed short rib in soup. We were happy with our choices however we know that we'd always have a hankering for spice!
During the last few years, there has definitely been an exponential increase in Korean restaurants in Brisbane. Some, like Madtongsan are insanely popular and have managed have multiple branches around Brisbane. . However, feeling like trying out something different, we opted to try out Bull Bar, which is situated between Madtongsan I and Madtongsan II, on Elizabeth Street.
My go to korean place. Hundred time better than madtongsan! My fave dish is the cold soba with pork belly. Yummmmmm. Good combination hot and cold. I also like the korean chicken and pork belly grill. For you who is a bit adventurous, try the pork intestine hot pot with rice ball. Have to warn you though, it is spicy. The hot pot is pretty decent as well. Definitely one of the best korean in town
Average foods but stingy portion for bibimbap. Good hot pot tho, the soup tasted especially nice after all the meats and veggies got boiled.
Kim Chee Hot Pot. November 2014 special - spend $30, take a pic for Facebook and add #bullbar #brisbane and get a free entree.
We had a tuna hotpot (uses canned tuna), udon noodle with seafood and a 2 flavour pancake (entree). All very yummy and quick service.
Bull Bar - Brisbane CBD. This is the new kid on the block as far as the city center Korean restaurants go; for months it has stood there on busy Elizabeth street with the menu out on the street front, with an aesthetic on the sign that would promise trendy and tasty eating. How I had not seen this place get more attention - even if just from a location stand-point - get more attention of any kind is a bit puzzling. The invitation is right there, just go down a flight of stairs into the basement and there is a spacious dining facility set up. It looks really slick, is made to be for after-work drinks plus maybe dinner as well.
I came about this place when I was meeting my friend in the city, and I had the choice of where to go this time around. Korean food sounded good for a bit of a change, and there was one place I had my eyes on that looked good was but was closed down without much notice. Taking a small U-turn, it was back up the street to here for a quick lunch.
The two of us were the only customers in the restaurant at the time; that could have been due to the hours of the day. It was cosy, had a trendy feel to it and there was some K-pop playing on the TV. This was one more place on the list, right in the middle of the city that you could go into to forget that you are in fact in the city away from the noise of the traffic.
Each table has its own button to press, once everyone knows what they are going to order. Promptly, a member of the waitstaff is at your table ready to take down the requests. As a bit of a side dish to my meal (and to share), I went for a pancake. The one ordered was a shallot and garlic chives pancake. Any self-respecting Korean meal would be incomplete without a few different sides garnishes; this time there was one green bean mixture, soy sauce for dipping, another that slips my memory and the nigh-compulsory kimchi. These made for some good garnishes, with pickled flavours.
Mains ordered were a chicken udon and hot spicy chicken giblets. I had a few bits of the former, but cannot remember as much compared to the latter. Both dishes were served in generous portions. The giblets especially came on a sizzling hot plate. The chicken giblets were fried, and in a chili-tomato sauce mixed with onions and capsicum. Textures ranged from tender to chewy, and it was hard to tell what exact parts you were eating (that is fortunate for my aforementioned friend; she is not the most adventurous). It had enough of a flavour to be distinct, not too spicy and it filled me up substantially.
This place has a lot of potential and the inviting look of being a hotspot, especially for nightlife. The good is good, plentiful and a whole wide array is available from hot pot to barbeque. Best of luck to this place in getting a name for itself.
I am still blown away by how inexpensive our meal was. The total set was only $45 and even the beers were a very reasonable $6 each bottle. The environment was nice and friendly without being too rowdy. The Bull Bar will be my new go to Korean restaurant in Brisbane CBD.
