Review Ramen Champion - Brisbane

R C
I chose miso ramen and it was a pleasant surprise, not very overly salty and soup have depth of flavour. For $16.9 it's pretty good value considering you can get 2 free refills of noodles. I decided to go with 1 free fill and was full. Probably ate over 200g of noodles. Customer service was good, very friendly and food came out quickly. There's no card surcharge which is nice. If you're craving for Japanese ramen or a quick meal or comfort food on a Winter's day look no further.

The best ramen I've had in Brisbane! The broth is really rich and reminds me of ramen in Japan! 🍜 😋 Karaage is also very delicious and is a very good price with the beer set. You can taste the soy sauce in the karaage crust which is exactly how it's made in Japan! It comes with a mayo base dip but honestly it's not even needed!! 😆 Whether you want to get a very delicious ramen, or just have a quick karaage bite with beer, I highly recommend this place! They also have gyoza set, which I haven't tried yet. I'm sure it's delicious too! My next mission will be to get their gyoza and tell you how amazing they were too! 😁

Went to do take on their challenge spontaneously. Food was great, broth was thick and full of flavour. Pork strips were at the perfect thickness for me at this portion and the noodles was a solid portion. Definitely will be coming back to try the other flavours soon. Staff were friendly and nice.

Spicy champion & black champion $14.5 each and free noodles 😍 I like spicy food, lucky there was spicy sauce free that we can add by our self. For pickle lover, there is ginger pickle and garlic too

Ramen Champion is located in Sunnypark shopping centre alongside some other Asian restaurants. There is a lot of parking available. Here’s what we got : • Black Champion ($14.50) • Miso Champion ($14.90) • Karaage ($8.50) You can get free extra noodles upto 2 times! Both ramen were quite good but I’d say my favourite was the karaage 🤣 The portion size of the ramen was was very good for the price, considering that you could get free noodles as well. The staff was very nice and welcoming, and the restaurant had a nice ambience with seating available both inside and outside 🙌

The soup base is very rich, the meat in the ramen was also fantastic.the first 2 times extra ramen is free.

The food here was so good. The noodles were thin but still firm, the roast pork was absolutely perfect - fatty and meaty and packed full of flavour and melt in the mouth tender. The broth was amazing too. Well worth a visit!

Love this place! My go to is the Smokey Ramen with some gyoza and a ice cold beer off the tap. Best Ramen in Brisbane!

Needing a Ramen hit we visit for lunch. On arrival, we are warmly greeted by the friendly waitress. We quickly place our order before the arrival of the lunchtime crowd. <br/><br/>I recall that Ramen presentation here is not a high priority when my Ramen Champion is served. Never mind, the Ramen and Tonkotsu broth are both good. My complimentary Ramen makes this a satisfying meal. <br/><br/>Phuong Tran’s Black Champion looks appetising and she enjoys her meal. We will return next year!

Musings on Ramen Champion<br/>Friday Night, Cold Weather = Ramen and tonight we dined at @ramenchampion1 Sunnybank,<br/><br/>After a short wait for a seat, we ordered the Smoky Ramen and Chicken Karaage. <br/><br/>Both were excellent with the Ramen tasting like liquid Bacon - smoky, porky and yummy!🍜🍗<br/><br/>Noodles cooked very well, and Chicken Karaage was fresh and exceptionally well seasoned.<br/><br/>Special mention to the young waitress who was run off her feet! Delicious ramen noodle house in Sunnybank. Their flavours is on the lighter side, but you can always spice it up with condiments. Pretty good and gives Hakataya a good competition in this heavily competitive market in Sunny B

My family and I purchased 5 Ramens for takeaway we all shared our different flavours, Black Ramen, Spicy, Smokey & standard Ramen our favourite was the Smokey Ramen, they packaged it up so well for takeaway everything compiled well the noodles were so delicious & the broth was jam packed with flavour, we will be back again and hopefully get to dine in next time!

They give you one extra free noodle with you're ramen. The have a good variety of selection. Their gyzoa are decent.

Great Raman every time

Good ramen, generous with the toppings especially with the vegetarian variant.<br/><br/>The broth is a little strong so I can never finish the whole bowl.

Best ramen in Brisbane! The chicken Karaage and it’s special dipping sauce is amazing!! The egg is perfect as well, the only thing to fault is the broth can be quite salty by the end of the bowl! Friendly staff and fast service. Highly recommend and any friend I’ve brought to try always go back!
Noodle Is Yum
Flavourless broth and the noodle has a smell- it might be the alkaline smell. Average customer service. Haven’t given them a second chance yet, might try the sunnybank hills one soon.

Ordered the veggie ramen made out of mushroom broth. First time trying vegetarian ramen, and I was pleasantly surprised by how flavoursome the broth was. Add a teaspoon of crushed garlic available at the counter to amp up the flavour even more. <br/><br/>Definitely recommend trying the veggie ramen even if you’re not vegetarian. Noodles could be a tad more al dente but it was still okay.

We've always been coming here regularly since watching Randy Santel do the Ramen Challenge. The Ramen has always been flavourful and thick, the Karaage chicken has always been cooked fresh and crunchy. Service was great except for today, the girl who served us was very indifferent towards us. We specifically requested no bean sprouts, but was still served with it. We definitely recommend this place to friends and family because the food is great, but there is definitely room for improvement in the service department.

Walked in at 8.30pm on a Sunday night and the place was nice and quiet with only one other customer eating in the restaurant at the time. Service was quick and our food came out in a timely manner however could be due to no other customers in restaurant. The Miso based ramen I ordered lacked taste and the broth was just really salty tasting. I dont think the price was worth it either. Overall, I think there is better ramen elsewhere in Brisbane. I will not be back and wouldn't recommend the ramen here. The gyoza however were not too bad and well cooked.

Have not been back 9 months so arranged to have a quick dinner last night. One thing that made me very disappointed was the Chashu Aburi has been removed from the menu! That interrupted my mood to enjoy the noodles. Finally, we decided to go for the Black Champion, Miso Champion and Karaage instead of our a-must order of Chashu Aburi. Needless to say, I would order the Sapporo beer and extra bowl of noodle. Overall standard keep consistent and the Karaage is not an alternative to Chashu Aburi, thumb-up! <br/>Rating 3.5/5<br/><br/> <br/>June 2018   Rating 4/5 <br/>Craving for Ramen since the unforgettable Ramen at Tsuta (the first one Michelin star Ramen@ Tokyo) in early April so went for this Ramen for rescue. It has been nearly three years since my last review. Menu has not changed much but there is a good news that they start to serve Vegetarian Ramen, which will be good for my Vegetarian Day. Ordered the Spicy Champion and the Prawn Champion with additional dish of Chashu Aburi. The minced pork on top of the spicy ramen gave me really a good kick of "fire" but that should be the way to be called "spicy". Noodles were as good as before. Loved the prawn oil and dehydrated prawns in the Prawn Champion, which really delivered very strong taste of prawns. Additional dish of Chashu was hero of the night, there were nearly 16 pcs of flame grilled Chashu on the dish that absolutely satisfied me and anyone who loves Chashu.... Cheers! <br/> <br/>Jun 18, 2015   <br/>Had a quick dinner at Ramen Champion. Ordered the "Signature Ramen", new "Spicy Prawn Ramen" and Gyoza. Soup bases were good particularly the Prawn Ramen. I think the film of reduced prawn oil on the top is the hero. Cha Siu was blown by fire touch before it was putting on the table, which reduce the fatty feeling from the belly pork. Ramen was al dante but Gyoza was a little bit let down. Service is friendly.
Sards Foodie Reviews
First time here to Ramen Champion. I had heard good things so I naturally had to give it a try. The menu is small and does not cater for vegetarians or "vegan" diners or offer many vegetables in general. This is partially why I have only given 3 stars so far.<br/>Apart from that<br/>I ordered the mushroom stock based Ramen noodle soup. It had 3 pieces of tofu, spring onions, half a boiled egg, some bean sprouts, a generous serving of shitaki mushrooms and perfectly cooked Ramen noodles.<br/>The stock itself was very mild in flavour but once you add the soy sauce, chilli oil and pickelled ginger from the selection of other goodies, then the whole soup springs to life.<br/>Also they will give you upto 3 serves of noodles free with your dish EXTRA. A great idea.<br/>I will certainly be back. Thanks SARDS.

It’s 2019, so I thought I’d start off my reviewing year with an absolutely ridiculous(ly good) recommendation - Ramen Champion.<br/><br/>I’ve been to a lot of the mainstream ramen places in Brisbane (Hakataya, Hai Hai etc) but there’s something about Ramen Champion that sets it apart from the rest.<br/><br/>The broth - it is so freaking flavoursome and addictive. I’m not sure if it’s MSG or something else used as the base of the soup, but it’s delicious. The depth of flavour is really good and tastes thick (not a watery broth if that makes sense??).<br/><br/>The noodles are cooked to perfection and the pork literally melts in your mouth. Now to my favourite part of a bowl of ramen - the eggs !!!!! At Ramen Champion, each bowl comes with 2 perfectly cooked egg halves which is a refreshing change to other ramen joints. They are really gooey and the salty/soy flavour is prominent!<br/><br/>Another highlight of this wonderful place is the kaarage chicken. When it arrives on the table, it’s steaming hot. Each piece is incredibly crispy and when accompanied with the somewhat lemony mayonnaise, every bite is a little bite of heaven.<br/><br/>I’d really recommend coming here, enjoy!
Dina
So delicious!!!! Love their Ramen. The soup to noodle ratio was just right and the flavour was amazing. Friendly service and I love that you can get a noodle or soup top up! <br/><br/>Perfect for winter 👌

Best ramen I have had in a looooong time! I had the garlic ramen and it was to die for, had every last bit. Great selection of condiments and actually quite cheap compared to some other ramen places. Will be back, my new favourite ramen restaurant!

On a cold and windy night all we felt like was something hot and soupy. So we headed to Ramen Champion, we haven't been here in a while and it was time to taste agai. We have tried a few others but always come back to this place. We eat with 2 young children so it was quiet empty when we entered. They open at 5pm for the dinner service.<br/><br/>We ordered the champion and miso, and yes you have 3 refills of noodles if you choose.<br/><br/>Order at counter and get a number, pricing is not too bad for a dinner dish $12.90.<br/><br/>Not too long after order our meals come out, and look inviting. Very well balanced and steaming hot, the only thing is most ramen dishes have very limited pork. This dish has 2 strips of pork and the same with the miso ramen. You can only eat so much noodles, with half an egg too. With the addition of an extra noodle, the end of the soup becomes thick, maybe the starch from cooked noodles.<br/><br/>But was an enjoyable night and a full belly. This has to be one of the better ramen places.<br/>

This is great Ramen, and great value. Having beer on tap is a nice touch too that you don't always find in Sunnybank. In terms of spicy food, I rather order the standard ramen and add chili oil rather than the spicy ramen, since the pork belly on the standard one is nicer than the mice they put on the spicy one. Don't forget you can have more than one extra noodle!

It was Labour Day when we came in so it was extremely busy.<br/><br/>PROS:<br/>- reasonable price (around $13) + three free refills<br/>- tastes great (on par with hakataya ramen)<br/>- great classy atmosphere (jazz music)<br/>- really friendly staff<br/>- good amount of toppings and sauces<br/>- really interesting ramen challenge<br/><br/>CONS (keep in mind very busy):<br/>- restaurant smelt like sweat when we came in<br/>- took a long time waiting in line<br/>- around 15 minutes for food<br/><br/>Definitely a superior choice to Hakataya Ramen. The restaurant is more spacious and the portions are much bigger for a cheaper price.

If you’ve been before, you will know that it is seriously difficult to choose where to eat in Sunnybank! You’re surrounded by delicious, authentic asian restaurants at very reasonable and competitive prices. My friend and I felt like ramen (when don’t I? Let’s be honest) and went in search of some. Ramen Champion was lit right up so in we went!
Scott Thomas
We go here heaps, the staff are super friendly and the food is absolutely delicious! My girlfriend is vegetarian and the first time we went they didn’t have a vegetarian option on the menu but they made it especially for her, so grateful as they’ve also now put it on the permanent menu!

Visited here with my family on a Sunday arvo. The shop was filled up with people as soon as it was opened. We ordered Champion Ramen (original taste), smoky Champion and gyoza. Both ramen came with chatsu. There is free ramen refilling too. Personally feel that the ramen noodle is special and better than Hakataya. Would recommend this place:)

'A Regular Haunt'<br/><br/>This place is a regular for us. It's pretty much a diner, but with good Ramen, resulting in excellent value for money. Roughly $15 can get you a drink and ramen dish with a free extra noodle. There's free pickled red ginger there on offer too if that's your thing, as well as Asahi beer on tap if you're in the mood. Surely that would keep you well fed, but if not, you could try the Ramen challenge instead (finish a ridiculously sized bowl of Ramen) and have your picture alongside the other "Ramen Champions" on the diner wall! <br/><br/>If you're going back, pick up a loyalty stamp card, which can reduce the price even more over multiple visits.  If you like extra egg/ pork etc. in your soup, the extras are all reasonably priced. The service is generally a grade above the typical Sunnybank diner. Highly recommend for cheap/ solid eats.

Easily amongst the best garlic oil flavoured ramen in all my years of eating ramen. And that includes me experience at the michelin starred ramen shop in tokyo.

We loved the Karage chicken, it was very fresh with good flavours and a nice sauce. <br/><br/>We were disappointed with the "black supreme ramen" <br/>Pros: <br/>- pork good flavour and nice texture<br/>- egg well cooked and still slightly gooey centre <br/>- mix of flavours in broth<br/>Cons: <br/>- fake charcoal/smoke heavy tasting broth which left a dirty taste lingering for Long time after finishing meal ... not light/clean tasting on the palate as I expect from a good ramen broth.<br/>- broth salty, tastes of msg<br/>- noodles were very thin and lacked flavour which I was expecting from a ramen noodle.<br/><br/>Drinks: the selection of drinks is limited to soft drink/iced tea or beer. I prefer having green tea, juice or water and these options weren't available, even the water only offered sparkling water. So instead I skipped the drink :( <br/><br/>Overall it was ok, but the Karaage chicken certainly outdid the ramen. We finished our bowls and felt full but not 100% satisfied with the flavours, about 45mins after start to have sore tummy (msg??).<br/><br/>Hakataya Ramen set the standard for us, unfortunately Ramen champion didn't come close.

This place is amazing, the interior is great. The food is great, the people are friendly, and better yet, you get free noodle refills! Only down fall is, it closes earlier than most places :(

Amazing food amazing staff - so friendly and amazing amazing ramen ! I travel almost 45 minutes to eat here <br/>Never disappointed <br/>The champion ramen and I've tried two of the others - all amazing and free extra noodles !

After having just cleaned my kitchen, I wanted it to stay clean for just a little longer... We decided on ramen for dinner. <br/><br/>Ambience: Ramem Champion certainly has a funky Tokyo vibe going on. Of course, in a neat and tidy Asian way. Industrial chic is the term I think. The little ceramic cubes that store minced garlic are very cute; similar to the ones found at いざかなやおくまん.<br/><br/>Service: prompt. Order at the counter, take a seat and they will bring to you shortly. <br/><br/>Food: the karaage is noteworthy - many places fail with this dish, it can be problematic. Ramen Champion made excellent chicken karaage: juicy, hot and crunchy. I would come back for this. <br/><br/>I had the black ramen and my friend had the regular ramen. No real difference in taste. Soup was thick and had sufficient bone flavour but a bit on the salty side. Egg was perfect and the grilled pork slices were quite nice. <br/><br/>Gyoza were edible. <br/><br/>Overall: come for the ramen, stay for the karaage.
@lydiaeatsbrisbane
Delicious ramen with a yummy broth. The noodles are cooked perfectly and the meat is very flavoursome with the perfect amount of char. The miso ramen is very delicious and has a very flavoursome broth. The champion ramen is the original ramen and is quite tasty however, I would prefer a slightly more flavoursome broth. The prawn champion was a bit disappointing as we expected some prawn in the dish but the only thing that alluded to it being the prawn champion was the prawn flavoured broth. Would have to say the black champion is a winner - it's the same as the champion ramen but comes with garlic sauce. That extra bit of flavour I was looking for in the champion ramen was definitely found in the garlic sauce addition to the broth! We tried the chicken ramen in the past but would recommend sticking to any of the ramen dishes that come with the flame grilled pork slices as it complements the broth better. The smoky champion was also something we tried in the past but have not reordered as it is very similar to the other dishes and there is not much difference in taste or 'smokiness' for the extra dollar you pay. <br/><br/>The gyoza is very good - what you would expect of gyozas. However, would definitely recommend ordering the chashu aburi if you come in a group of 5 or more. It comes with 12 slices of flame grilled pork slices (each ramen dish already comes with 2 slices, apart from the chicken ramen). The extra pork slices are really good if you prefer more meat, especially if you order extra noodles because usually by then you would have run out of the meat. <br/><br/>This restaurant can get quite busy - we visited at 11:35am on a Sunday for lunch and the shop was already half full. Compared to Hakataya, I would say I prefer the Hakataya broth as it is more flavoursome and potent but Ramen Champion is slightly cheaper and comes with the addition of bean sprouts, seaweed and eggs on most dishes. Remember to order an extra bowl of noodles per bowl of ramen as the noodles given in the main bowl are not usually enough to fill you up!
Mea
Ramen Champion has never been a disappoint and the broth always fill with flavors and the noodle was chewy and just the right texture. The 'Ramen Champion' is always my go to ramen since it's simple and not overcomplicating the dish

Price was great! The speed of service was fast and friendly. The food was delicious and left us satisfied ! I would definitely come back again soon.

So full of flavour and great serving size! Spicy ramen was amazing miso Ramen was also really really good!! Gyoza was crunchy and bursting with flavour.Be back for sure

I was excited as I love those and the window says ramen and gyoza. Imagine my disappointment at only one type of gyoza. They were tasty. We also ordered a chicken ramen, I wasn't overjoyed with it. We tried the beef pot, I enjoyed the beef. Big pieces were hard to eat. Rice wasn't serves with sauce. Well priced $32 for the 3 dishes and 2 soft drinks.

A easy quick delicious bowl of ramen. Good amount of menu options available, service is quick, but best of all the broth is delicious! Loved the ramen for a quick lunch it was the perfect options.
Hannah K
Easy quick eat! The serving size is quite large. The soup base is so flavorsome. Remember to save the soup so you can get your second ramen for free!

First experience of this place was forgettable, nothing really stood out. Upon coming back here with a friend, it still pretty much the same as before. Its great that miso champion is their cheapest and probably most tastiest ramen there but everything else is pretty boring.

I do love a good Japanese noddle! This place is great. Free extra noodles per noodle purchase. The soup is a little salty but tasts very authentic. The gyoza's are great. <br/>Staff are really friendly and the food is served pretty quickly.

The nicely chargrilled pork, thick noodles and creamy broth that was placed in front of me was a letdown after the first bite. The soup lacked any real flavor except MSG and salt. Overall disappointing and would not recommend.

Are you looking for a tastier, healthier option to fast food? You'll definitely find it here. This is such a great option to a cheeseburger and you'll definitely love the different options available. A strong 4/5!

Good and satisfying. Interesting shop with a contemporary setup. Simple range of ramen and priced well. Staff are friendly and look like they work hard in the kitchen to please your senses.

Ramen here is pretty good. Flavourful, not too salty and the noodles are cooked nicely. Ordered the garlic tonkatsu ramen which was creamy and garlicky whilst the tsukemen was slightly salty and less creamy. Overall would recommend.

Went here last night with kids and partner. The place is perfect for prams as its more spacious . Less waiting time when compared to hataya ramen. But stock taste wise I prefer hataya. The meat - the pork in the noodles reminded me of the pre brought stuff that Sushi trains serve as aburi.
Grace Lung
Been here a number of times. When you have a pram it's the easiest ramen place with the most space (unlike Hakataya and Genkotsu) and close to the parents room.<br/><br/>They've now got the Prawn Champion which I LOVE with a bit of chili. It's so good.<br/><br/>I just wish they would police the seating more (like Hakataya does). Some people sit down before they order so them it holds up the line as they won't take new order unless there are available seats. When I approached their staff they basically shrugged and said we can't do anything. YOU CAN!!
WAYz
One of my favourite places for ramen. Have been back multiple times which flavours are consistent and go down like a treat! Service can be a little rough at times when busy.

When you think about Japanese food, gyoza and ramen are one of the first things that pop into my mind. When you walk into a Japanese restaurant you expect good Japanese food. At ramen champion their food met expectations every time.<br/><br/>Their gyoza is nice and crispy and the filling is flavoursome and juicy; making it one of the best pork dumplings I've eaten. Their ramen noodle soups probably wouldn't beat Hakataya or Genkotsu but their Curry Men Champion is a must try! The Curry Men Champion is fresh thick noodles served with hot curry soup for dipping.<br/><br/>With good food and good atmosphere the only thing I have a very small complaint about is it takes some time before you get your food. But I guess the wait makes the food taste so much sweeter!
Mimchi
My second time there I didn't feel like Ramen. So I ordered the chasu don which had the description "flame grilled pork slices" - with rice. What I actually got was marinated shredded pork that they stuck under a flame for about 10 seconds. Not only was it unexpected, it didn't taste anything like flame grilled pork. A REAL disappointment. Yet, I still ate it because I had to wait long enough and was hungry. While I understand this is a ramen place. It was really misleading to have that description on the menu. The first time I did have the miso ramen and that was fine a bit thick and eggy (egg yolk isn't my favourite taste) so it was so so to me. They need to update the description on the menu because that meal was extremely unsatisfactory.

Ramen Champion has improved alot since my last visit (about 1 year ago) and I was pleasantly surprised! The noodles, broth, char siu, the new menu and extended trading times.. well done guys! I can't wait to come back!

Im over the moon, finally a place that serves perfect ramen in sunnybank.  I was somewhat apprehensive visiting ramen champ. after my recent salt-filled visit to genkotsu, however these guys really hit the mark.  The broth was silky-smooth, and without overbearing salt levels, you can really taste the other ingredients in the bowl. I appreciated the deep rich flavour.  The noodles were chewy as they should be and was a pleasure to watch the dough being made in front of me while i ate.  I experienced great service with friendly staff.  I cant wait to go back and try everything else. Im glad these guys are doing it right.

What is more or less the new kid on the block regarding Market Square, Sunny Plaza and Sunny Park combined, Ramen Champion has a more modern and hip looking feeling about it. Not many places advertise themselves as much, and particularly not from the shop front persepctive. Thus, with those big letters it seemed inevitable that us foodies would migrate there sooner or later. <br/><br/>And there was one distint reason I got here finally. For quite a while, it brewed over about that Giant Ramen challenge that they have - whether or not I will take it on. Eventually, the idea was "why not" and - long story short - used it as a launchpad to meet up with some other fellow reviewers on here. After a while, just one turned up but that was enough for me. Enter: the Invisibile Food Critic. For the sake of brevity, I will refer to him as Mr. Invisible. For a while, he was wondering whether or not he would take on the challenge himself - he is able to eat big loads of meat in a short amount of time, but is less confident when it come to noodles. In the end, he thought why not and joined in the competition.<br/><br/>Ramen Champion has a slightly slicker aesthetic to it than other eateries nearby. Still maintaing some sort of tradition, they update it to get a semi-modern look and feel which really works. On on wall there is black tile, and another it has wooden planks. Every table is decorated with some serviettes (which all disappeared during the meal), a collection of chopsticks and some condiments for your meal. Additionally, they have a station for garlic and ginger near the counter. Look up on the wall, and the photos are there of those who have taken the challenge and won it (only 12-13 as I write this). From photos online, it looks like it transforms at night. <br/><br/>Getting onto what they offer, there is something about Japanese places where they are able to *really* focus down on a specific of their cuisine - sometimes gyoza, sometimes sushi as two examples - and get it down to a craft. Instead of audience pleasing, they get a slight niche and make it into perfectionism. This is so with Ramen Champion, which does - well - ramen. There are only around half a dozen types, plus they have gyozas and donburi on the side. That sums it all up really. <br/><br/>So, to take on the Giant Ramen challenge: this is a big version of their champion ramen, which is a pork bone broth, filled with vegetables, two hard-boiled eggs, several slices of pork, a couple of sheets of seaweed and so much noodles it seem neverending. It does not sound or look too bad until you see it in person; We are talking very huge, with probably pork two to three litres of broth alone with about a kilogram of noodles. Adding onto that at the aforementioned garnishes, which are more or less dwarfed in comparison to the rest of the meal. But, the real kicker comes in when you have a mere 25 minutes to complete this whole thing for a shot at having your picture on the wall of fame. <br/><br/>Specialty critique for this one, with the special attention for those deciding to take upon the challenge. They give you half an hour to wait around while it is prepared, which was ample time to socialise and have a conversation; Mr. Invisble was quite a friendly and interesting man, I enjoyed speaking with him. Getting back to the service, they ran you through the rules, gave you a timer (good touch) showing you how long you had left and were very polite - this was a good standard of customer service. <br/><br/>Looking out from the competition, as a general eatery it has the standard level of efficient and good customer service. They were always quite busy, moving back and forth between tables and the counter. It is the usual counter service, where you place your order, pay up and then after picking up your table number, simply go and find a table. Straightforward standard. <br/><br/>The question is, how well did I do? Did I beat the challenge? Three answers to that: no, yes-ish, and yes. No: I did not make it in the given amount of time, not for lack of trying either. Yes-ish - let's skip that one. Yes: even after being down and out for a bit, I made a come back to empty that bowl and not get defeated by food. So whether that is a success or not depends on the angle you were going. Mr. Invisible also put in an admirable effort, but it was the broth that got the best of him. <br/><br/>So let's get to how the ramen itself was. I liked it quite a bit. The bits of pork were simply beautiful, turning right into mounds of butter in the soup (plus a half inch thicker than its competitors), and the eggs were well solid with good yolks that were over medium so the yolk was still gooey but was setting fast. Getting beyond simply feeling that the noodles were never-ending, these noodles were objectively well cooked to the right al dente (is there are more language appropriate term anyone?) texture, very hot from the broth and went down a treat. The broth is some of the best that I have had, getting more on the creamy side and the notes from the pork bone flavour really came through. Add on to that the seaweed and chives, and it is a complete and rounded noodle soup. <br/><br/>Ultimately, as someone who is getting increasingly keen on ramen as a snack and starting to really like it, this rounds up as a good and reliable place. It has a better atmosphere than most places, the food was really good, and I do like the look of a lot of the other items. Ergo, Ramen Champion - you have my approval. And to be fair, you won't find me complaining with that amount of food in my stomach. <br/><br/>I also look forward to meeting up with Mr. Invisible more times in the future.

When we went to the Southside Bistro we noticed that right next to it was Ramen Champion and we immediately wanted to go. With a craving for ramen we quickly found ourselves here.<br/><br/>The parking lot is so empty compared to the lot across the street so it was easy to get a park for dinner. I ordered a miso champion and my partner ordered the prawn champion. They also have a challenge bowl that I think is $35 and they have an example of how large it is. <br/><br/>Our bowls came out quickly but we took our time to eat them and I'm certain it's the best ramen we've ever had. The flavours were so delicious and went together well with none overpowering another. It's also so cheap and I was hopeful I could finish it but the serving was too big. The service was also great and speedy.
Fungus
I quite liked their prawn oil ramen. The broth was great but only a little lighter than your normal tonkotsu super brothyness. There's unlimited ginger available for free and keep an eye out for their specials very now and then.

Great and delicious ramen for just around $10! The soup is the superstar of any ramen and Ramen Champion definitely know how to make a good pork bone broth. Highly recommend.

Had the tonkotsu ramen. Its not the best but its a lot better then hakataya. Its a thicker broth and its meant to be. Hakataya broth is way too watery so i'm glad i found this place. They could give an extra slice of pork. A tad too small for me. This place could be a lot busier if it were to be located at sunnybank plaza or market square. The location is just sad. The other restaurants but with the exception of that viet place does bring down every other restaurant. All remaining restaurants are very boring.

Was told of this place by another foodie (atetoomuch) do I just had to try it. Being a Natuto fan, I have always wanted to try good ramen. 😂<br/><br/>The place is located in Sunnybank, opposite the plaza. The staff were very friendly. The ramen was absolutely delightful. With a little pickled ginger and some chilli/sesame oil, the flavours came out roaring. <br/><br/>I had the chicken ramen which came with a thinner broth, compared to the pork dish my partner got. Hers came with a thicker, creamier broth. <br/><br/>Both were amazing but I much preferred my chicken bowl. Definitely a must to try if ever in Sunnybank.

I like the currymen here. Good deep flavour and the pork really does melt in your mouth. Miso I would say is average though. Service is great! Always smiling and greeting when everybody enters. I hope they can market and build up their customer base, these guys deserve to be rewarded for hard efforts.

This is probably home to my favourite ramen in Brisbane! I've heard mixed reviews, but the ramen has been great every time for me. I like that the pork slices are thicker than Hakataya (though not as tender as a result), and I prefer the noodles and broth here over other places like Genkotsu and Taro's. Service has always been quick, but the ambience is average given it's located outside the buzz of market square.

Relatively new establishment to the Sunnypark shopping area. I remember when they first opened it always seemed quiet. But these days it seems like things have picked up. The service is friendly and quite prompt. They missed an order of ours, but it wasn't any biggy as the dish came out only a few minutes later. I got the basic champion ramen and the chicken ramen for my kids. I think its just me...but i prefer the clean soup of the chicken base..this is not detracting anything from the pork bone base soups however.<br/><br/> The look and layout was nice and clean and the free extra noodles option is always a plus. ;)

I'm from Fukuoka, Japan where this type of pork soup noodle is famous for and I recommend this place to my Japanese friends. They love this place! <br/><br/>We always have basic ramen and put some crushed garlic in the soup. Tried a few different flavours but basic one is the best especially when you put garlic! Garlic makes huge different! Don't forget to get free Kaedama (extra noodle) :)
HungryTumTum
They serve the ramen with thick broth so it's feels more filling than normal. Also free noodle but unlike hakataya, there's enough ingredient in the first bowl to not need the extra. I do prefer the black champion much more than the original: packed with delicious flavour. Will have to check other flavours next time. Nice to be eating ramen facing your friend rather than the wall

Love the ramen here! They have changed the menu, they added quite a few more new dishes. Tried this black sauce one today, I don't like as much personally. <br/>I still love my favourite - Miso Ramen. It's the best ramen in Brisbane. <br/>The staffs are very friendly, I'd love to come back again :-)

the waitress not smile at all, the soup are tasteless.........................................................................................

Good food. Not really much ambience but that's not unusual in Sunnybank. The ramen was great though. The gyoza is not that special and I think their sides menu could do with a few more options, add karaage at least.

heard something good about this place, got time tonight to try it out. <br/><br/>i ordered the curry men, love the curry having more than just japanese curry flavour, maybe i am wrong but i can taste some fish in it. and bear ordered the spicy ramen, which he loves the soup a lot. and the most impressing thing is they flamed the pork before they serve, we both love that. plus the eggs are perfectly cook in its way, still got a lil running in the middle.

Pretty average quick Asian eatery serving ramen and rice bowls.  Service is a little slow especially to clean up so that we could have a table.  I've got to say that even though the ramen is tasty although a little too salty for me, I didn't really enjoy it.  Maybe it's the noodles or the dried pickled bamboo (I normally love bamboo) but it didn't satisfy.

We were in the area and were in such of a quick Asian takeaway. Ramen Champion took my eye and I ended up ordering the Miso Champion (Pork, egg, noodles, miso and vegetables) $10.90. It was packaged for takeaway in such a smart way. The sauce was served separately to keep the ingredients fresh and everything was kept fresh.

Paid a visit to this humble restaurant last week in Sunny Park. As soon as I entered the restaurant I was greeted by the friendly and welcoming staff (tick). After checking out the menu (they have ramen, curry and rice and noodles with soup), I ordered the miso champion ramen. The food came out pretty fast, probably only 5-10 minutes after ordering. The miso champion ramen consisted of noodles, slices of grilled pork (absolutely delicious), egg, cabbage (little bit strange), bean sprouts and corn (different but it went well with the soup). The soup itself was super brothy and smooth, one of the best I’ve tasted, you also couldn’t see/taste much of the oil which is always a plus. The highlight of the dish other than the broth was the grilled pork, it was really cooked to perfection!

Last time I went to this place I felt very welcomed. Friendly staff with quite a happy & energetic vibe. The ramen was good and the toppings were great. Awesome for a nice easy meal. I rate it 7/10

Ramen Champion is a newer and more modern addition to dining at Sunnybank. It’s beautifully decorated and offers plenty of space and comfortable seating inside which you’ll agree is a miracle if you know Sunnybank at all. This is the second time I’ve been here and although I still prefer ramen at their competition across the road, there were many things I did like more here.

One of the top ramen-ya's in town (depending on one's preference). I've been patron of Ramen Champion (RC) when they were new and still do today every time I need a ramen fix.<br/><br/>I don't understand the heap of complaints about the broth. I reckon these people certainly aren't tonkotsu connoisseurs or know enough about it to comment.<br/><br/>Quite frankly, it's a different style of broth. There isn't a template or a benchmark on what constitutes the perfect tonkotsu.<br/>The majority of ramen-ya's (hakataya, taro's etc..) serve an asari (light to medium intensity) broth. RC IMO serves a broth that's 'kotteri' (strong) hence the viscosity + the heady smell of pork/fat.<br/><br/>It's reminiscent of Kappa ramen's 'kotteri' tonkotsu in Osaka (my favourite). Now that I think of it, Tenkaipin also make a delicious 'kotteri' version but the broth is made with chicken instead of pork.<br/><br/>Back on track, I only ever get the Champion Ramen. It's the original and the best. There aren't any funky additions in it to adulterate the pure porky goodness. The noodles are made on site and have great texture to them. There were some inconsistencies with the Cha-shu but toppings aren't what it's all about. It's all to do with the broth. I love it! It's full-on and puts some hair on your chest! Surprisingly, there isn't a lot of salt involved which may cause some diners/reviewers to opine the broth as bland. I've got a tip for these people, look past the salt. There's so much depth to the flavour.<br/><br/>To be perfectly honest, the wife and in-laws (Osaka locals) do not like the broth because they prefer something less robust. However, they generally agree that flavour-wise, it is spot-on.<br/><br/>To summarise, if you love crackling, lard-ons, streaky bacon and so on, this is the Brisbane-based ramen equivalent minus the salt.<br/>Even if you do prefer a less porky version of tonkotsu, try RC anyway as it broadens your horizons. If you don't like it, don't go back. Simple.

Great decor ideas. Right next to snooker hall. Bypass the ramen and enjoy the barbequed pork strips that melt in your mouth and the addictive dumplings, my fave touch was the music. You have to visit to hear what I mean

Good value for your money. Cheap ramen available in Brisbane. Will come back.

I love Ramen Champion. The ramen is consistently tasty, the staff are friendly & the pricing is great. One of my favourite restaurants!
Kim
BEST ramen I've ever had..and have been to Japan 8 times. Full of flavour. Cheap and good options. Staff are great!

Reasonable price and yummy. Ordered spicy champion. The soup is thick and yummy.

Excellent Ramen. If you have spent any time in Japan then you will appreciate this unique and thoughtful Ramen.<br/>Champion is hands down the best ramen in brisbane and yes I frequent them all regularly.

Okay-good range. came with 4 people, waited very long for a tables to clear up to combine together.
Kazaho
Better than any other Ramen shop. Lovely staff, quick service, deep taste of broth, freshly made Ramen. Love it!<br/>well priced. definitely going back soon!!

Worst ramen ever. Honestly, even instant soup taste better than this, I am so disappointed and will never recommend to anyone!
Cheryl
The worst ramen ever!. This is the worst ramen we have ever had, soup tastes terrible, we ordered #1 & #3,pork bone soup and miso soup taste all the same , noodle is not tasty but ok; the egg in my noodle is cold! four of us left with disappointment, and we are sure we will never come back. <br/><br/>This is no doubt the worst ramen in Brisbane.

Lack service and efficiency. I don't quite understand this place. The waitresses definitely need to be trained and the ramen wasn't good enough for me to look pass the bad services. The first time I came here, I was totally ignored by the waitresses. Waited by the door for few minutes before I approached the counters for one waitress avoided eye contact and the other one just said full cannot order before I had the chance to speak. All I wanted is to know how long is the wait and could we be on the wait list for the next table. With the cold response, we decided to go else where for lunch. Friends decided to still try out the place, so the second time we came for early lunch to beat the rush hour. We got a table just to find out the ramen was average and the soup was not quite "right". Taste somewhat like an expensive instant ramen. The service was better than my first encounter but the food took a long time to arrive. I walked out disappointed.

Thoroughly enjoyed. First visit and will be back - thoroughly enjoyed our meals so much flavour! Btw saw the review which called the waitress "dopey" - Get over yourself.
Sheel Morjaria
Mediocre. Soup lacked depth. Wouldn't come back again.

At Best Average Ramen. Really below average ramen. Thick mushy noodles & thick tastless broth. Would not return or recommend
Mollywilson1314
Like it. Good ramen and friendly service, much better than hakataya

Been to many ramen places and also lived in Japan. Great ramen and fantastic service, not sure about what other reviewers are complaining about. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. Been there 4 times and will be back again. Excellent!!!!

Good Ramen; Clueless Staff. Went there 2 times now. Ordered 3 ramens and 2 sets of Gyoza. After finishing our Ramen's, we thought there was a hold up on the Gyozas. Turns out the dopey waitress forgot to write the order down. <br/><br/>Probably won't be back for a while. <br/><br/>Recommend Taro's Ramen in the City above all.
Kelvin Bean
Dissapointed. 2nd visit but there wont be a third, ordered 3 serves of dumplings, only 2 arrived. We then had to ask for our Pork slices, they had been forgotten totally. When they eventually arrived, they were still cold. (obviously they are pre-cooked) No offer of discount or anything, (one cook apologised) Lesson....All places stuff up occasionally, but the mistake must be corrected immediately because you wont see these customers again if you dont. IE, I wont be back.

Not quite there yet.... Pos:<br/>- Clean, bright, spacious environment<br/>- Friendly service<br/>- Competitively priced offering extra serve of noodle as well<br/><br/>cons:<br/>- poor staff training: gave us our ramen but forgot our utensils.<br/>- excessively LOUD music, had to yell across the table to each other<br/>- ok, the ramen noodle was a disappointment, texture wise it's great but overpowered by a strong scent reminiscent to the chinese 'thousand year egg' if you know what i mean.<br/>- gyoza bit soft / wet, and no crispy edges<br/><br/>Look forward to them lifting their game and offer a more competitive ramen.
Mitch Dunn
Good value for money, but needs to lift its game to thrive in a busy precinct. When your restaurant serves anything Asian-themed and is in Sunnybank, you need to bring your A-game, and Ramen Champion simply doesn't. The ramen dishes while cheap are a little bland and the staff do the bare minimum. The only thing saving them from a negative review was some VERY tasty pork aburi, for something ridiculously cheap like five bucks.
Toyatomi
Few complaints.. Music is bad and too loud. Ramen portion is small and has weird ingredients. Not to my taste at all, but is not particularly bad. Oh and tables are super squished, and there are always screaming young kids next to you.
