Review Sago Restaurant - Brisbane

Yummy food, quick! I am not the person who like Vietnamese food but this restaurant was so good. Venue was clean and staff is friendly

Walked in with high expectations, came out pleased. The ambience is comfortable. I had the crispy chicken dish, and it hit the spot with its magical coconut rice and unmistakable crispy chicken. Also tried the Pho, and it was a winner with that sweet and savoury beef broth. Would definitely try again!

First time in SAGO and YOU have to go! It’s the cutest little spot with amazing food. The Seafood noodle soup is to die for. IT WAS FIRE!! The service we received was so amazing and we will definitely be back again. They made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing experience. PS: The smell of fresh prawns was a bit strong to me. Be aware of a storm of sea scent will hit your flair!!! It would be great if you can fix that.

When we think about celebrations, Sago is always our first option and it never disappoints. From the starter to the dessert the quality and tastes of everything was outstanding, my Hue (not a spicy beef noodle soup), Basil Cashew Beef with rice for my Thai friend, Vegan Beef Pho and Vegan Sago Combination Noodle for my Indian friends might have been the best meal we have ever been served. Service was delightful and very professional. 10/10

Good food. Good friendly service. Good prices. Especially impressed they followed me up a big hill on a cold night to return my mobile phone. Impressed. Glen

Enjoyed delicious food at Sago restaurant. All the dishes were beautifully presented and full of flavour. We enjoyed the duck in lettuce cups, the lettuce was fresh & crisp, the duck was bursting with flavours. I also enjoyed Beef Pho, a good Pho tastes great before you add the condiments, this Pho was full of flavour. The staff were friendly & helpful. All ages ranges were enjoying the food. There is seating inside & on a deck. They were also busy with takeaway. Worth a visit

The first time we were served rotten food ever. I had takeaway seafood soup which was packed so poorly that it ruined my clothes, the car, then the bag collapsed and the food containers fell on the ground. Next, there was 1 large prawn in the soup which was disgustingly rotten. If i fall sick, they are in for some trouble. I am staff on this university campus and will follow up with authorities about how rotten food can be allowed to be served.

Worst restaurant ive ever been to. The food is costly plus the waiting time is ridiculously long. I only ordered 2 rice paper rolls and it took nearly half an hour how amazing!! And the restaurant was empty

Always delicious and great value for money!

Small serving sizes, overpriced, quality questionable. I have been here a couple of times and have also ordered takeaway. I have been disappointed all times.

I was craving Pho so bad, so I got my boyfriend to pick up some from this place last night. When he came back I was absolutely horrified at what I saw. What tiny slices of beef that were given were already grey and sad looking. The bean sprouts and basil were wilted and had brown patches. The portions wouldn't even satisfy a 5 year old. Absolutely gross. Never again.

Really nice food especially the chicken rice. Nice staff and services. Most clean restaurant that I wasn't face before. 15% off discount for students
Free parking area and near QUT.

Terrible. That's all I can say.

Never going back after 45 min wait.. We arrived at 11.15am on a Friday for lunch. We walked out at 12pm with takeaway containers because the food took so long. We had only ordered a chicken noodle dish and sweet n sour pork. The girl at the counter was beyond rude and expected us to pay a 50c eftpos surcharge after making us wait for so long. Food was edible but the chicken had grisly bits. We will not be going back and have passed this experience on to colleagues.

I really like the laksa. Tried authentic laksa in Malaysia a few times and the sago laksa doesn't disappoint.

Food ok. Service: Not ok. The food is ok, i love the atmosphere. But the service is quite poor. My friend have been waiting for 30min and his food still hasn't come out. I hope that Sago will fix the issue

Overpriced and very average and below average food.. Ordered Samosas @ $9.90 for 3 and the table shared mains.

Samosa's were not samosa's - wrong pastry used with little filling in a tiny triangle shape. Never seen anything like it and the fact they can't even get the basics right says a lot.

Mains were full of oil - which is generally used to mask lack of flavour.

Waste of money - very clear that the focus is on charging as much as they can whilst providing as little food at the lowest quality they can. I don't know if they think customers recognise this but they do and within our circle we are looking at other options in the area.

Shame as they could do really well in the location.

Expensive and tastless. I wanted to eat out before going to the theatre and this is what urbanspoon gave me! Well what a HUGE disappointment. The food had no flavour, the staff were on the verge of useless. If you just can't be bothered to fill my water glass please at the very least give the customer a cold bottle of water so they can do to their selves. if you ask a customer how their food was grunting at them because you do not like the answer is VERY poor indeed. i'll give this place a miss next time!

Lacking in atmosphere, unattentive staff. Food bland, tasteless and uninspiring. Virtually no evidence of Vietnamese cuisine. Even the extra chilli we ordered was tasteless. Next time we want Asian or Vietnamese we'll go elsewhere. When we were asked if we enjoyed the meal we told them it was disappointing, they said nothing and then ignored us.

Food wasn't too expensive and tasted amazing. The service was surprisingly slow as there was only two other people dining on top myself and a friend.

Happy customer. We live in Kelvin Grove and have had dinners and take away at SAGO - have to say never disappointed. yes they are more expensive than a simple suburban take away but their options are wonderful. I haven't had a bland meal at all

TERRIBLE Beef Pho noodle soup. The other day I went to Sago with some guys from the office to try their beef Pho noodle soup. My lord it was an absolute train wreck. Was such a bland and boring dish..pieces of meat were terrible quality, no flavour at all in the soupp, just really dodgy all up. There's prob more flavour in magggi 2 min noodles. Can't comment on any other dish, but won't be going back just because of that.

Pho very bland, low quality beef slices/grissel. Disappointing for $11.50

Very, very average Vietnamese food. lacks flavour, freshness, abd creativity. head over to West End across the bridge for much better and cheaper Vietnamese.

Gorgeous food! Love the roast duck salad and the peppercorn beef with enoki mushrooms. A small note is that I wish they offered 3 pieces in entree options like spring rolls and San choi bao. It's a bit awkward when there are 4 diners! (I did ask for another of each for extra $, but they didn't oblige! :(. ) Overall, a lovely night with attentive service. I will return!

Fresh, delicious food, great value and great service. Definitely worth a visit.

Worth the price. A little more expensive than the average Vietnam restaurant but also a much more enjoyable experience. Food was fresh, tasty and well presented. Service was warm and friendly, and the atmosphere was clean and modern.

Will visit again.

Great food!. Food is really, really fresh including the meats and seafoods and very tasty!

Presentation of not only the food but also the restaurant and the decor is also fantastic.

And you can bring your own beer, sprits, whatever and there are no corkage charges.

Excellent food and service. Visited here for the first time the other night and what a lovely surprise. Great to have somewhere to eat after visiting the theatre at La Boite..kitchen still open just before 9pm. Really good fresh food, reasonable prices and so pleased to find authentic Vietnamese style coffee with condensed milk - my favourite! Outstanding service..please support this little gem.

Sago. Totally hidden away but top quality little Vietnamese restaurant! Try the duck salad - yum! A cut above average Vietnamese but not in price. A real gem.

Great. This is excellent, very fresh, very modern vietnamese. We've has take-away and eaten in and everything has been delicious. BYO at the moment. My only issue is the menu is heavy on seafood mains which I don't eat a lot of. There is currently no chicken main but they told me they are adding some. We went there on a Saturday night and hardly anyone there. I'm worried they'll close so please support them if you love Vietnamese food.

Phở Shizzle. I went on a holiday to vietnam at the start of the year and since returning my wife and I have scoured Brisbane for a dish to satiate our cravings for their excellent food. We have found a winner in Sago, the staples like phở bo (beef noodle soup) and the beautifully rich cà phê đá (vietnamese iced coffee) are very well done, but I was particularly impressed with the dinner menu. The mains were delicious and well priced I had the roast duck on vegetables and my wife stuck with the soup and we were thoroughly impressed. Add to the food, good service and great ambience this restaraunt really i-sago-er.

No added MSG means their pho is very weak sadly as we have gotten used to heavily MSG laden bowls else where. Their other items such as combination Noodle soup with lots of seafood, or their laksa or their beef Stew are all fabulous. Really new shop providing a clean modern atmosphere.
