Review Badminton Brew - Brisbane

Gorgeous aestheic, clean open, open and spacious cafe. Didn't mind me coming in 10minutes before close. Excellent coffe and service. Thank you.

Badminton Brew is the best local cafe around. Fabulous coffee, lovely staff providing great service and a quiet street with easy parking where you can enjoy your coffee and brownie (Rachel's secret recipe). It is perfect for early birds too with early opening hours. I highly recommend this spot.

Beautiful little cafe, with great coffee! The new interior is so lovely, and really sets the vibe of the cafe. It was a shame however how dirty everywhere was! Coffee stains on the walls, backs of chairs, on the floor... crumbs everywhere! It seemed like the place hadn’t been cleaned for at least a week. We wish the almond croissant was fresh, but despite this, the coffee really made up for it. Would love to give this place another visit 😇

Cute little Cafe nestled in the streets of Mt Gravatt East. Stumbled across this place by accident and am kicking myself I didn’t find it sooner. The colour palette is very soft (almost white) pink. The decor is simple and fresh. Staff are friendly and keen to accommodate fussy children. Great coffee. There were a few flies attracted to our bacon and egg burgers...understandable given the open windows and doors. Great little local Gem! Highly recommend a visit!

Lovely atmosphere and setting for morning coffee and breaky! Love the deco and friendly staff. We had the acai bowl ~ it was perfectly thick with plenty of fresh fruit and delicious house made granola, and the hot cheesy chicken pesto melt. The coffee was very much enjoyed as well, especially with the little brownie treat it comes with. Will definitely be back.

My absolute FAVOURITE coffee shop in the world. We have been going here every morning for the last 10 years and you can always be assured a scrumptious brownie, a perfectly poured coffee, a smile, and to walk out ready to attack the day. Delicious little treats for the kids, great quiches, amazing croissants and such a friendly atmosphere. Even if its a little out of the way for you, make the drive - it will become a regular stop in your life! Love it!

Nice coffee with a free little cake too.

I've been working my way through all the coffee places in my area and Badminton Brew easily makes the best coffee. Not much in the way of food, but that's not really what the place is about.

Did not realise that it has been over three years since my last visit and that explains why my first impression is faded.
Re-visited this café in the morning and found that it has been changed slightly with more comfortable ambience. Business is busy with on-coming take away orders from the locals.
My flat white is good with the Exilir brew and so as the blueberry muffin with cotton-like texture and traces of blueberry taste. Not a bad start of the day.... :)

Aug. 9, 2015 Rating 3/5
Located at Badminton Street of Mt Gravatt, this cafe is a hidden local gem. If you are one of the fans of Elixir coffee, then you don't need to drive a long way to Stafford. Indeed, I don't mind this brew, which is quite cope to my taste buds. Service and set-up are brilliant.

Hands down the best coffee in Brisbane. I have been heading to Badminton for years now and could not recommend it enough. Such a lovely crew who will remember you by name. Definitely worth a stop if your in the area ❤️

Have not eaten here, however stop for coffee a lot. The coffee is great and the best part is they are so quick!! The little chocolate treat on top is a nice bonus.

A superb example of a quiet suburban coffee stop, a good strong coffee and exemplary service these guys go out of their way to truely host their local clientele. The ease of parking (you will ALWAYS get one) hidden away off creek / cavindish roads and in line with sister business 'backstreet espresso' in Carina I guarantee that you will return time and time again.

I almost forgot to mention, each and every coffee/drink is topped of with a small piece of sweet chocolate brownie

*if you have kids, you will appreciate the effort that is made to make them feel welcome (they also love the brownies) Badminton is about creating a fabulous community vibe.

Great service by such a sweet barista who went of her way to make me a great flat white. (I tend to be fussy!) Elixir coffee is usually very smooth & this was no exception. Cute little shop in a quiet street with a homely feel to it. Thanks Ronnielui2003 & Atreyu for the reviews that is how I found it!!

On the few occasions I've been here the food has always been pretty good and the coffee very good. However the service by very young inexperienced staff leaves a lot to be desired.

Badminton Brew - Mt. Gravatt, Brisbane. Another one of these elusive finds that hide about in the backstreet parts of suburbia, both signs on the main roads which point the way plus a good word of mouth makes Badminton Brew less hidden and more lauded. Much like the recent trend of many of the new and beloved dining locations, the general area in which they find themselves could definitely help with a bit more love. Created by a young barista, Rachael who has prior experience helping her family out with their business, Badminton Brew is more old school in approach than many comparable inner-city locations.

Again, always willing to support local, small businesses, my dining buddy and I made a detour down to here before heading off to the usual weekend shopping trip. It was well worth it, and a lot of charm was detected. Service is really sweet, quite quick and is one of the major reasons that it ought to be tried out. Instead of the usual quick, trendiness there is a more, relaxed vibe that attracts parents with young children.

The interior design of Badminton is going strongly for a relaxed, homely feel. At the time of writing, the cafe is for the most part relatively quiet with a stable, consistent output of clinetele. It is low key, with a few tables around the place plus a reasonable cluster out on the pavement. All around the shop are plenty of plants and lattice, giving air and life into the atmosphere of the cafe. A bonus part with the planning of this cafe is that it has the look of a low-key, rented shop space complimented with having all the services needed to make the experience complete - seating, a fridge to get water and enough space to walk around. What really sets itself apart is a wall dedicated to people taking photos of the Elixir cup from around the world plus a charity tips jar.

As usual, coffee is the mainstay beverage here, though they are more than prepared to accomodate for those who would like something else. In fact, there are probably more pages for drinks than food. This includes a range of teas, milkshakes and smoothies. Not that that matters here, as I am all about the coffee. The blend of coffee which they use comes from Elixir Coffee which while not in the premium selection, is certainly among the better, more consistent varieties and is more of an audience-pleasing choice. As a bonus, with each order of coffee - dine-in or to go - they serve it with a small sample of their specialty brownie. By the by, the brownies are fantastic; they have a rich flavour, and a soft, gooey texture.

While Elixir is one that is most suitable to the milk-based beverages, I went ahead and got the usual doppio. That being said, I did manage to nick a sip of my dining buddy's cappuccino. It was really good. The milk was well textured, plus the flavour of the espresso was clear and it was well crafted - they have talent here. The doppio was also good, strong as it needed to be, a good drinking temperature and it had a rich flavour behind it.

As for their food menu, it is a smattering of the usual, low-key cafe fare. There are plenty of sandwiches, short order breakfasts, and plenty of tempting sweets. What more, it is all done fresh and made on site. During weekends, they often close quite early and it was in the closing hour that the two of us were there. Thus, it was slim pickings from the cabinet. Nevermind though, as both choices made were really good. It was a caramel tart for my dining buddy and an opera slice for me. Both of these were really good, with the caramel slice having a thick, sticky filling inside a cup of buttery pastry plus the opera slice was even better. Having dark, rich chocolate on top of several layers of almond sponge will do that, particularly if the pastry is good quality.

Rachael is an astute lass, and it shows through her management of her cafe, Badminton Brew. With heaps of luck and initative she will do very well out here. It does a good cup of coffee, has a welcoming atmosphere and is easily accessible to all who want to enter. Great job.

Hidden coffee. I kept seeing the signs on the main roads for this cafe and finally made a visit with a neighbour. The service was friendly and prompt, there is a good selection of cakes and savories in the cabinet. Breakfast is served and offers the usual favs at a reasonable price (although we didnt eat breakfast). The cafe is dog friendly and frequented by locals, which is always a good sign. The lemon tart was good, although it could've been more lemony. The taster of brownie served with your coffee or as a whole piece is amazing. Will be heading back for a quiet coffee in the burbs.

Great staff, great coffee. This place can be a little difficult to find at first if you aren't familiar with the area, but trust me, it's worth it. I stopped by on a early on a Saturday afternoon, ordering a nice big mocha. Following a friendly chat with the staff I was on my way in no time at all (they're pretty quick). They even included a little piece of brownie to accompany my coffee. And I'm pleased to say that the coffee was fantastic!

I really like the idea of an unassuming suburban strip shop having a cafe like this - I think it could do a lot to revitalise the area, not to mention giving locals a great place to meet up for a relaxed coffee. I'm not far away so I'll undoubtedly be dropping by again in my travels.

Last week it was nice to wave the girls off to school and stop by to enjoy a more leisurely visit and an Elixir coffee with it's cute little brownie bite. I couldn't go past the decadent looking chocolate brownie as I'm always happy to 'take one for the team' in the name of research. It was warm, gooey and had a very fine layer of raspberry jam through the middle with just a glisten of jam at the end....delicious! Great friendly service ...

Sensational Elixir coffee; cosy homely cafe set amongst the tranquil Mt. Gravatt burbs! Rachael, the gorgeous, vivacious owner, has recreated the same spirit and atmosphere from her family cafe: Backstreet Espresso, Carina… With her own personal stamp; the warm wooden floors, walls adorned with lattice and hung greenery creates a urbane, yet inviting atmosphere. Rachael and her staff are adept in their barista skills, no need to fly to Melbourne with this taste sensation right here in Brisbane! There is a plethora of on street parking, making Badminton Brew convenient for a pick up on the way to work or to sit down, soak up the atmosphere and relax with a exceptional quality brew. I cannot recommend Rachael and her family’s string of highly successful cafes around Brisbane. From the moment you step in you will be drawn in by their captivating personalities, their sensational coffee as well as the substantial sweet & savoury grab and go options. I promise, you will find it hard not to return!
