Review Kim Son - Brisbane

Mary Salvador
Loveeee the congee here! Pho is also good! Great service, nice staff! But pork chop is a little bit on the oily and overcooked side but the serving size is good for the price!

This Vietnamese Restaurant has been operating for decades. We like the Soup Noodles here and our favourite is the Braised Duck in Herbal Soup with Egg Noodles.

The taste changed completely, not the original owner anymore. Soup was super oily with few pieces of meat, the taste is super weird and the noodle was overcooked. Do not recommend wasting your time and money, use to be one of my to go pho place. Miss the original owner. I will give a 0 star if I can.

Soooo so so good! We had the chicken Pho and the seafood pho and it was so flavourful and delicious also the spring rolls (no picture cause they disappeared too quickly 😂) if you're in the area I definitely reccomend!

The congee involving the pig intestines was phenomenal. It was well spiced and well prepared. Some places take short cuts but this place re-prepared the pig intestines such that the grittier taste is gone, revealing the sweeter taste of it.

Amazing food. Huge serving. Friendly staff. I can literally eat here every day without getting bored. My 2 all time fav: - bun rieu - banh canh cha cua Came back again, they changed ownership and the portion is smaller, price is more expensive and the flavor is not the same! Huge disappointment!!

Loved the pho and fried chicken leg. The other items like rice noodles and combination rice was pretty good too. It's a legit Vietnamese restaurant with good value.

I'm definitely a huge fan of this place! I went yesterday and yet again I was not disappointed. I had the special beef noodle soup. I will be back for more in the near future (especially with the cooler months coming up).

18.2.2020
Our favourite meal here is the Herbal Duck Soup and Egg Noodles. The hot Herbal Soup is tasty and fragrant. Noodles are perfectly cooked and the braised Duck Maryland is a generous serving. An excellent meal. Rating: 5

The Bun Bo Hue is disappointing. The soup is overly sweet, bland with no chilli heat, lemon grass or meat flavour. The rice noodles, sliced Pork and Beef are good but this meal is spoilt by the dreadful soup. The worst Bun Bo Hue I have been served in Brisbane. Rating: 2.5

My family has had dozens of meals here and every meal has been delicious, however, the Bun Bo Hue should be avoided. My overall rating drops from a previous 4.5 to 3. We will visit again next month.

I’m never been disappointed coming here, tucked away in Biota Street in Inala the first time I went looking to go here I drove past. Only small but always enough tables, air conditioned, quick and quality service, best tasting Pho broth, clean and cheap.

Be mindful as its cash only though. Will not be disappointed if you love your Pho like I do and polite service.

Have not been back for a while so re-visit this restaurant prior to our shopping at Inala Shopping Centre. We went there in a group of three people. Although the duck and egg noodles was very impressed last time, we liked to try some other dishes. Therefore, we ordered the the spring rolls, thick round noodle with crab mousse, broken rice with pork chop combination, vermicelli with bamboo and duck salad. Dishes came to the tables within reasonable time-frame. Dishes are generally rustic in presentation but large in portion. Spring rolls are average but authentic way in preparation. Pork chop and broken rice is very tasteful and so as the thick round noodle with crab meat. Hero should be the duck salad. Steamed duck is soft in texture, salad is refreshing with balanced herbs and pickled veg. The extra vermicelli with bamboo shoot is a surprise. For $14.50, this dish is absolutely a bargain. No wonder there were so many local Vietnamese came to this restaurant. 👍😋

Last visit: Nov 13, 2017 Rating 4/5

Price has been increased a little since we came 2 months ago but happy to pay because the taste is is still good. We have been here many times and food have been consistent, generous portion, ok service. We always order the same. Beef pho, combination broken rice and 3 colour drink.

If Tan Thanh restaurant in Inala centre is reviewed highly to be one of the best viet food in Inala, this place profoundly exceeds Tan Thanh's reputation regarding the variety of dishes and quality of food. Soooo authentic. I can literally taste the similarity flavour of some of the vendors in Saigon. This place definitely deserves more credits and attention.

Went here for lunch. Hu tieu was okay, pho had the taste of MSG. crispy fired noodle had way too much oil on it, would not recommend this dish

IG @nanakoot_culinary

Usually for vietnamese food I will stick to Tan Thanh however I really wanted to try something new so after searching in zomato I decided to try this resto simply because it’s not in Inala Plaza/Civic centre.

With my daughter, mom and mom’s friend, we ordered:
1. Pho dac biet 4/5: love it ... broth was tasty delicious, toppings were generous
2. Combination Broken Rice w/pork chop 4/5: I usually don’t really like the egg patty but this one I like it so much ... it was somehow very yummy and pork chop was good too
3. Satay chicken rice 3/5: ok but not my favourite
4. Spring rolls 3/5: not as good as Tan Thanh spring rolls ... they overcooked it so the edges were quite burnt in some of the springrolls

Despite their prices are higher than Tan Than buta their portion is bigger so actually same price.
Service, just ok

Surely will be back again

My favorite viet place. Generous serving and amazing flavour. Authentic viet dishes. My go to place when I want a viet noodle soup. They have other dishes that aren’t staple in other viet restaurant.

Great Pho and Hu Tieu ( could argue that its the best Pho in the area) . Would recommend! Make sure to get in a bit early as it can be quite busy.
Bun Bo Hue
This comment is purely on their Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Hue Noodle Soup).

This bowl, may look authentic, with its red spicy soup, its rice 'spaghetti' noodle, fatty pork & beef slices, pork loaf,... and even a pork trotter, that's where its authenticity ends. The broth was so sugary sweet, it was on par with the Thai dessert. There was little hint of garlic or chilli, and in fact, the only thing that had 'flavour' was the added fresh veges and herbs on the side.

For a 'local Inala' restaurant, I was very disappointed, even if it was only $11 for the bowl.

This restaurant is very clean the staff was friendly but ok I was not very good with a good breakfast and the wait staff is friendly but the staff was very friendly too poor

Amazing food that beats all vietnamese restaurants in brisbane. TRY THEIR SATE CHILLI with soy sauce for dipping sauce. It' super spicy and gets you sweating.

Best pho in Brisbane. Authentic, delicious and well priced. Parking can be a challenge sometimes, but it's worth it for the amazing meals. The beef pho and vermicelli salads are have been perfect every time we've ordered.

Amazing service here which is refreshing after frequenting most the other Vietnamese restaurants in the area - unfortunately found the Pho almost inedible due to the amount of fat on the beef. Would be keen however to try some of the main 'dishes' here in the future.

This place tasted good and very well priced too. Had a small variety of dishes and find the portions quite generous. The pho was delicious but also can definitely taste MSG. I don't mind returning if I'm around the area, but maybe try other pho places first. Quail was done nice as it was still moist and crispy. The spring rolls were packed with ingredients; all dishes came promptly. The place looks very shabby and run-down from the outside, and however inside looks tidy, it's still quite dodgy with a taste of traditional vietnamese 70s-80s cafe atmosphere.

Love love love this place. Great authentic Vietnamese food in Brisbane!! My favourites are pho and hu tieu mmmm so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The BEST pho in Brisbane! Don't expect much from the decor and service but the food is amazing. The pho broth is the best in Brisbane imo, packed with flavour and comes in generous servings. My parents (who are vietnamese) dine here 3 days a week religiously, they may as well create a membership there. Have tried the pork chop with broken rice, egg noodle soup with crispy skin chicken (moist, not dry and crispy skin is cooked perfectly), dry combination noodles, beef stew (bo kho), anchovy noodle soup (bun mam) all the phos .. all have been delicious, can not fault it one bit. Just note if you come during peak dining hours you might not find a table. I live on the northside but the 30 minute trip to this little suburban restaurant is well worth the trip. My fav vietnamese restaurant by far.

Small and neat restaurant run by a Vietnamese family. Tasty, inexpensive, authentic food. Very pleasant and welcoming people.
Easy parking on the street. A few shops next door. Nice neighbourhood.
Accessible by bus 102 from Inala Civic Centre or Oxley train station.
Biota street, inala Heights.

Simply the best. The best Vietnamese in Brisbane, pho shizzle ;)

I have branched out from my usual bun and pho to other Vietnamese dishes and they are all fantastic, I am yet to have an average dish from this place. My favourite is the beef stew, so perfect on a cool night. Super tasty with slow cooked meat (just dodge the cartilage - not my favourite bit) and a curry flavour. The chicken pho is also superb, it is so packed with flavour and is guaranteed to make any sick person feel better. Another favourite is the pork chop on broken rice, this is a good one when you hungry and want some carbs.
The service is friendly and fast. The prices are fantastic ($10 to be nourished and content).

We go there about 3 times a week, it is getting a little ridiculous actually! But there are definitely worse habits to have :)

The best.. So good that I am tempted to selfishly keep it to myself...

Awesome. I eat here on average twice a week for lunch. They treat me like family and the service is always superb. All of the dishes are very good, I love the Duck Pho and especially when they have Goat on special. Really clean, really friendly and really really good food

Hands down, best vietnamese in Brisbane. We have tried vietnamese in the valley, sunnybank, west end and all thru inala. Best pho and pork chops I have ever had. Great service every time.

My first Vietnamese dish in a long while- I was very pleasantly surprised. Ordered a seafood egg noodle soup & found it to be light, yet very filling, very delicious! Bring your cash as there is no eftpos. The people were also really lovely, will be back again :)

Inala Secret. Have been frequenting Kim Son now for nearly 12 months. We tried all the local restaurants and keep coming back! Kim Son is a Vietnamese restaurant unlike local ones that tend to do Chinese food as well. The soup with their Pho is the best I have tasted in Brisbane. Service is always quick and friendly and the place is always busy with local Vietnamese customers. Great value meals and ever changing fresh vegetables with the Pho and rice paper rolls(other restaurants are less consistent). If you like iced tea remember to ask for the homemade lemon iced tea, not the Lipton's brand big difference. Kim Son will stay as one of our regular haunts for a while yet!

Best pho in Inala.... I have to say this has got to be the best pho in Inala by a long shot. We use to go to Trang's in West End until they changed hands. Funny thing is the old owners of Trang's eats here as well and when we spoke to their family, we found out a lot of their regulars now frequent this joint. Only down side the beef soup can be quite fatty how the locals like it, so just ask for no fat.

You get what you pay for. Lets be quick. Quiet location(not a bad thing), cheap prices but okay food, nothing great but not bad. Their pho and hue style beef soups tastes nothing but a bowl of MSG. Don't expect much for service, typical Asian service.
Bjorn Ogle
Try the Beef Noodle Soup. Went there yesterday for lunch. Really good food (We'll be back to work our way through the menu), friendly service, and low prices. Can you ask for more?
Tim Flatley
Great food, friendly staff and a quiet location. I will be back!

Great staff great food. We turned up at 'closing time' and the staff were happy to let us eat. We had a FEAST for 2 with leftovers for under $50! The food was soooo tasty and the staff were so nice and friendly.

Inala has such a nice vietnamese community these days.

Yummy pho!. If I want to dine away from the hustle and bustle at the Inala Town Centre I go to Biota st. The Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup is devine.. Decor isn't that great. Service is barely there but a great cheap ea
