Sushi Edo is possibly my favourite chain sushi train. A singular price per plate (bar a few exceptions which are al la carte) means you're not overthinking your sushi plate choices. Food is good for the price point. The consistency of quality in sushi presentation and outputs could be better. It felt safe eating here and social distancing measures were implemented. My favourite is treasure box and aburi salmon. A good sushi edo outlet.
Came to this eatery for a vegetarian lunch. We selected to have the half udon as the base to go for various vegetarian dishes such as sweet tofu with sushi rice, rice paper roll with vegetables, seaweed Gunkan, avocado with vegetables etc.
Honestly, I cannot find any flaws here and this lunch made us so full so full mark is deserved.
I think this branch is the best of the whole food chain in Brisbane.

So good to be able to sit down for a dine-in lunch rather than takeaway meal. There were seven other diners and two Sushi Chefs. Service was fast and the food was good. Thanks guys!
One of the better sushi edo stores. Due to being busy most of the time, they likely go through their ingredients quite quickly. This is why the sushi has been super fresh every time Iāve been. The hand rolls are especially really good for the price.
absolutely love this place i have been here at least 30 times and only had one less than terrific experience it has become a reliable go to when in the area and worth the trip if craving sushi

Decor was clean and basic made it nice and early for dinner as it can be very busy the iPad ordering system was weird really not my thing but caught on in the end large menu I wasnāt a fan of the Teriyaki wagyu it was nearly tasteless no rice or noodles with it either the sushi was all pretty yummy there was one odd one with cornflakes also overall it was pretty good Iāll be back
Although almost always very busy at dinner, as long as you out your name and number of people in the book list outside, you will eventually be seated. Food comes out fast and tastes nice.
My all time favourite sushi place! The sushi are so delicious especially the volcano and the grilled salmon sushi. Also, love the newish addition to the menu the matcha ice cream drink. It taste better than gong cha or any other shop. Good cheerful busy vibes and great customer service! Parking is a bit hard though
One of the best sushi trains I have been to recently. I really enjoyed my sushi that I got from Sushi Edo over the weekend, the place was packed so I was lucky to get a seat. I had the salmon nigiri and the wagu nigiri as well as a tuba and avocado roll. Everything was made fresh when ordered from the tablet at the table or you can pick from the train. Definitely stop by Sushi Edo if you want some delicious sushi quickly.
Love this Sushi place. So many Aburi options (seared) freshly made for you. Ordering is really easy via machine on table so you can easily add as you go. Overall an excellent experience
The only places I eat sushi at. The prices have unfortunately gone up so I donāt come as often as Iād like. The seared wagyu and scallop is my favorite here. I just wish their presentation of food was better! Their hospitality and customer service is good though!
Really good conveyor belt sushi. Itās always been fresh and service is pretty fast. Like the iPad ordering system. I usually try to go late at around 8pm to avoid the crowds and queues.

My daughter is a sushi freak ... she can eat sushi everyday specially those with fresh salmons so here we are trying another sushi resto.
Ordered quite a lots from nigiri, udon, tempura till sashimi. All ingredients was so fresh ... my favourite will be grilled scallop nigiri and kaki furai aka fried oysters. All sushi plates $3.80 ... a bit higher than other sushi place but still fair
Btw, love the usage of touch screen LCD for menu and ordering
Very friendly and attentive staff. Food is so fresh and amazing here. Also a bargain for $3.80 for any plate of sushi. We had many varieties today and here are a few pictures of what we had. The mayonnaise was amazing and must of been made in house. They also offer a discount if you are paying cash
Taste was average. Very cheap - mum and I had lunch for $17.5 The ordering system takes a bit of fiddling to figure out, but itās very efficient.
One of my favourite restaurants. Always the best quality sushi and miso soups are amazing. Udon too.
Staff need to be a bit quicker in taking orders, however.
Otherwise - consistently good food with generally a nice atmosphere. Affordable as well.
Absolutely love Sushi Edo!
Always fresh and such good quality ingredients šš½.. the staff are always so friendly and really accommodating.
Thereās a reason why this place is always packed! š
Best Sushi Edo we've been to! Passing by right at opening time seemed like an impromptu invite from fate so in we went. Holy crap I've never heard such enthusiastic greetings! Hahah and they got progressively louder too! š
Loved watching the conveyor belt go from zero to hero with all freshly made goodies, some of which were intriguing combos we'd never seen before.
Thoroughly refuelled for more Christmas shopping! Would cross town again just to come back here.
Love it here, like the screen order display, made ordering easy and simple. Sushi, side dishes and desert were all nice. Ice cream could be bit more defrosted a bit more as it was nearly rock hard to eat but was nice when it startes to melted a bit. Great place. 2 thumbs up!
Absolutely love coming here. Food is always fast, fresh and tastes awesome. Only downfall is always having to wait to get a seat, which can be up to 30 mins during busy times. Not so good when youāre starving!
This sushi place is our go to for quick and easy meal, plenty of seating when ee go before 5pm. Wife knows exactly what she wants to order so within minutes our drinks and a few plates arrive.
Got a baby chair with ease, service is quick with use ofnthe ipad ordering and menu.
All plates were fresh and tasted great.
Will be back again and again
A girlfriend and I visited late on a weeknight. It was still really busy so we had to wait about 20 mins for a table. The food is cheap and delicious, and the train is fresh. We'll definitely come back.
During busy hours there can be a line up for a table but the food and service is excellent and worth the wait! Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to have great sushi.
Been here a few times now. Decent modern fitout and the touch screen ordering takes the guess work on what's on the train. The Spicy Chicken Gyoza are pretty damned good!
Good food for $3.50 per plate servings. My favourite is the salmon sashimi ($7.50 for 5 pieces) and the ebi fry (2 prawns for $3.50).
Fast and friendly service, though wait times for a table can be up to 30 minutes due to the popularity of the place.
Only place I know in Brisbane that has plates for 3.50 across all choices! Can't go wrong! All sushi is served fresh and the chicken karaage is made on the spot as it always comes out steamy hot.
Love the purple rice. Sashimi was ok. Good selection of sushi. Bit pricey. Always a busy place often with a line up. Recommend going out of peak hours.
March 2018: update-
Came here the other night. Didn't recognise any of the staff. The sushi technique has improved a lot and tonight most of the staff were Japanese.
It's currently the best I've seen it!
July 2017:
Taiwanese-run sushi train with a few Korean kitchen hands and Japanese waitstaff...
Much has been written about this place so I will spare you the details.
Ambience: loud. Busy. Popular.
Service: snappy. Except the ramen can take quite a while to come out.
Food: their dishes of note are salmon nigiri, salmon carpaccio nigiri, fried whiting, salmon roe ship. The karaage and the ramen is often of varying consistency... Many of their dishes are a little slapdash.
Verdict: convenient. Value for money is so-so.
Sushi Edo isĀ a JapaneseĀ sushiĀ franchiseĀ gaining hugeĀ popularity with their $3.5 all plate menu. It was a weekday lunch and great to be accompanied by our fellow Zomato friend Joe K & Imco. We ordered array ofĀ sushi dishes with the aburi scallop, fried salmon skin and unagi (eel)Ā being the most memorable.Ā The food quality here is top notch and consistent with eachĀ restaurant.Ā
It isĀ always a pleasure catching up withĀ fellow reviewers! Soo gotta do this again guys š.
Finally, a day off work and I am lucky to spend this day with some foodie friends of mine :) SUSHI IT IS!!! As we all agreed prior to our meet up šš» My stomach is ready for all these fresh goodness š£
Making an arrival at 11:45am the place had a few tables filled. I joined my table and we greeted each other. The menu is illustrated and programmed in an iPad (on each table), so here we are scrolling through pictures and choosing how many of each sushi we'd like to order.
Let's have: Karage Chicken, Takoyaki, Salmon Skin, Sea Urchin, Squid, Salmon&Avocado, Eel, California Roll, Scollops and a bowl of Agedashi Tofu.
5mins later our plates of sushi started appearing on the table, one by one as they come and we all dig in to feed our hunger. Everything tasted good and fresh. The Karage Chicken was served hot, Agedashi Tofu had a really nice broth and was flavourful and the Scallop Sushi was by far my favourite (one more plate please šš»)
Service is quick here and staff are friendly!!! Much enjoyed šš»
Thank you Sushi Edo š£
After trying this place I don't want to eat sushi anywhere else locally again! Staff were polite and efficient. I really liked the digital ordering system. I found there was a good variety and the sushi was fresh. Very happy with the experience will definitely be visiting again.
My son's favorite place for dinner. In fact it is the only place he will go to every Tuesday after his swimming lesson. Great variety and good value. Sometimes had to queue outside the door for 20mins because the place is so popular.
Come here weekly for sushi since they are all freshly made and all plates are $3.80. Recommend try the lotus chips since it's not found at other places and crispy too
Verdict: Good place to go for a scoff-and-run (eg. movie in 10 minutes), to sample different flavours (bring a friend for extra efficiency - there's 2+ pieces per plate - split it and share the cost), or for a hankering for a small ramen.
WARNING: If you go when overly hungry, you might order a dozen dishes, and blow out your budget hilariously (which nobody expects to do at sushi trains, it just always seems to happen).

Vaguely had an idea this place existed along the Japanese noodle district of Sunnybank Plaza, today decided to check it out.
The restaurant has a sushi train setup, and uses tablets to take orders (including water refills). The food is $3.50 each (nigiri, aburi/gunkan, small rolls, big rolls/hand rolls), unless otherwise stated on the menu.
The decor is rustic yet upbeat, and the speakers pump out English pop hits. There are 8 open compartments, each seating 4 people each. The rest are single seats lining the sushi train.
Service is reasonably prompt: I ordered from the tablet instead of grabbing from the train. Ordering 2 or 3 dishes at a time, the dishes take around 3 to 5 minutes to be passed to me over the counter. I was there at 3pm, although I expect there to be more staff during peak periods, so service times shouldn't slow too much. The half-ramen took 5 to 7 minutes to come out.
The food (I tried nigiri sushis only) gets a thumbs up for taste and presentation, although they tend towards the smaller side: each individual nigiri (usually 2 to each plate) I tried were 2cm wide and ~7cm long. However, for a flat rate of $3.50 for flavours like wagyu beef, baby scallop, and Peking duck (as a nigiri - no really), it's hard to complain too loudly.
I was surprised to see ramen on the menu too, so I ordered a half-bowl to try for $6.90 (only tonkotsu shio is available in this size; normal size is $12.50, and extra noodles are $3.50 each). The half ramen is surprisingly well-portioned, the noodle is nice and chewy, and the soup base is thick and flavoursome - compatible to Hakataya.
Note:
- No outside food or drink are allowed to be consumed inside. If you do have consumables from outside, it won't be a problem as long as you don't take them out.
- There is a free-to-join membership system on the tablets, and you gain points translating into $ discount down be track. Remember to log in when you sit down. The points accumulate upon payment. $1 = 1 point.
- Kids can play the Gashapon (capsule toy) machine at the counter for free - which is one excuse for never growing up.
Really liked this place. Ā The ordering system was great. Ā We went when it was busy and it was all super fresh, plenty on the train. Ā Everything I had was tasty. Ā Salmon aburi, unagi, spicy karaage (wasn't that spicy, still super moist though) Ā and mini udon. Ā Udon was great value! Ā Stock just needed some togarishi (on the tables so all good). Ā Really reasonably priced. Ā Will definitely be back.
This place was really busy when I went for a Saturday lunch. I've never seen so much sushi. It was piled high waiting to go in the train and they were stacking the train two high (double decker train). The sushi was good and at $3.50 per plate for all plates it was really good value. The service was only okay. A lady came and gave the people next to me some water. I asked for some too. I repeated myself a few times as she couldn't understand. I pointed at the water jug then she said quite rudely "yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah". She went away and never came back. No water for me. The lady at the counter as I paid was quite friendly.
Cheap, yummy and consistent.
The restaurant is clean, the train is always full and the price is great. 3.50 per plate of pretty much everything in store. What is there to complain about?
The staff are friendly and the service is always prompt.
*****
Take note that this is of course all based on my unqualified opinion!
My considerations: 1. Food 2. Value 3. Service 4. Atmosphere
Sushi Edo is by far my favourite sushi place. My partner and I try to eat here once every week depending on our spendings for that week. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wishes to try it. The variety is amazing.
A lovely sushi train in Sunnybank Plaza. $3.50 sushi plates. There were a large range of variety and fresh ingredients were used in their sushi. Loved their range. This place was always packed when I walked pass so we tried the place out. Was a wonderful choice!
Good food, japanese food done by japanese (and not some cheap ass chinese boss). Very cheap for what you get. The only problem was wait time as it is always fully packed and also one major problem is that people get a waiting ticket and walks away and when they come back they're allowed to be placed first. I should do that next time to beat the queue??
Very fresh food in great variety of styles and makes, whether you like your seafood raw or cooked. Comfortable seating and environment for dining in. No wonder why this place is so extremely popular. The only complaint is that this place is always busy during peak lunch/dinner hours. You must arrive early (say, not later than 11.30am for lunch, and not later than 6pm for dinner) if you don't want to join a long queue (waiting for maybe an hour or more) before you could grab a seat.
* Price guide is around $60 for two (unless you eat as little as mice do).
Great selection of sushi at cheap price. I especially like their aburi sushi! I also like the convenience of ordering from the electronic menu so you can see a picture of every item. The place is always packed and is the only really thing I can complain about, since it so popular you will have to wait to get in majority of the time.
I took my dad here and he loved it. The touch screens are a really great idea for a sushi train because sometimes if you're in the booths it can be quite hard to get the attention of the staff. They offer a wide variety of dishes here including they have nigiri, sushi rolls, hand rolls, sashimi and plenty of meals and side dishes. My dad got one of the sashimi plates which he said was really good quality, fresh fish. The only thing I didn't love was the vegetable tempura, it was a bit oily and heavy, not as light and crispy as tempura should be but the staff were really friendly and the value for money is great here. I would definitely recommend it if you're after a sushi fix.
Used to go the the Sushi Edo in city quite often so I was glad when they opened one in Sunnybank so close to home! The portions are great for $3.50 a plate. Quality is usually good except for one time the Scampi nigiri and the Uni (sea urchin) weren't fresh. Haven't had those two since then so I'm not too sure whether it was just a one-off. Love the fact that they have a FRESH wasabi option (+50c).
Been here many times now over the years. Seafood is always fresh. Fast service and the place is always clean. Thereās always a line up outside but never a long wait.
I love Edo Sushi, cause its priced cheap, has a large selection and super high turn over rate. There is never a bad time for Edo Sushi, cause there are so many people there, the food is snapped up immediately.
Despite the queue at this place, we decided to give it a go. It was really crowded, but we had a cozy corner to ourselves. We ordered via the iPad, and received our orders within a couple of minutes! The service was fast and efficient, and the service staff are friendly and attentive. My favourite sushi would be the treasure box! It is a combination of aburi salmon and hotate in one salmon! The others were good too! Love this place and would totally come back again!
Had a good experience dining here - liked the whole touch-screen situation. Staff were alert and friendly, and it was nice to see the variety of the sushi. And to see that they were all of consistent quality and appearance.
I have only known that this place exists for 2 weeks and i've already been here (and the city one) 5 times.I LOVE this place. First, everything is $3.50 (except some sides and big meals) which is amazing considering they have such a good selection. This menu ranges from traditional nigiri to some crazy rolls with cheese on top (not my thing but you know, you do you). The seared kingfish is amazing. They have salmon roe ships for $3.50 which I can't even understand considering that stuff is like gold. Everything i've ordered is fresh and delicious and if it wasn't it's because it came off the actual train which is fine considering it is a sushi train. The idea of the ipads is great, especially the fact that you can order water refills without having to flag down a busy waitress.
I JUST LOVE THIS PLACE. All the sushi trains in sunnybank are now empty and for good reason. I am going back here tonight and I am so pumped. I LOVE YOU SUSHI EDO THANKYOU FOR EXISTING.
Calling out to all sushi lovers out there! This place offers sushi plates all for $3.50. How amazing does that sound? Even though it's cheaper than some other sushi trains, they don't compromise on the quality. Simply delicious. Plus not only do they serve sushi, but they also serve ramen, udon, salad, sashimi sets and desserts (costing more obviously). Keep in mind you pay for what you get - so serving size is smaller than the upper Japanese sushi trains/restaurants.
It is a very popular place to eat around Sunnybank for lunch and dinner, so try beat the rush otherwise you do have to wait inĀ line for awhile, especially those who wants to sit in a booth. Its a must try!
On a good day, it can be really fresh and everything is delicious! On a meh day, the sushi have been on the conveyor belt for a little too long so everything begins to taste slightly stale, cold and very unappetizing. Dinner times usually has a wait so it's best to go for lunch
Sushi is reasonably priced and fresh. The hotate sushi is really good. Service is prompt which is always a bonus. Haven't tried the cooked food menu but would be keen to give it a go
Awesome service, fresh sushi, lots of variety to choose from and worth the money. Other than the sushi, they have delicious pork broth ramen, Takoyaki, karaage, gyoza and more.
Love the different flavours and taste of sushi here. Able to pay separately except extra charge when card. The electronic ordering system with descriptions seems to work well. Unfortunately won't make something fresh if already on the train tracks so can get something cold but if it isn't, well worth the $3.50 for each plate.

Haven't dined in Sunnybank for a little while as I've already ran around this area endlessly since '87. Not knowing there was a new Sushi Edo here was a big mistake... Should've came here long ago! $3.50/plate didn't sound too sure of the quality that might come with it but it was worth a try. We were surprised of the quality being up to all other Sushi Edo's I've been to before. Sashimi was fresh (with real gold flakes) and each sushi were made to fine detail as if I was paying $6-$7 per plate. There was quite a bit my wife and I ate (view photos) and was very satisfied with the fancy decor, efficient service and computerized ordering system. Price vs quality, definitely worth it! Will return again very soon! :)
This has got to be one of the best sushi places I've been to. The sushi was fresh, tasty and clean! Tip is to always head on over before the rush! Very popular place for both lunch and dinner!
i dont think sushi edo has ever seem to dissapoint me :) sushi is excellent !service is great and you have probably the best ramen iveĀ tasted yet.!seriously, i cannot get enough of the ramen! its thick, filling and cheap :Dthis place is always busy, when i go. i guess that says alot about the place :) Im not the fussy kind to make complaints over little things at all which i am more happy to wait for ages just to get a seat in this place :) and even if service was slightly off, im very patient and be understanding, because i also work in hospitality... i will still come back either way because of the food :D
Very busy place so come early to get a spot otherwise you'll be waiting a while in queue. Every plate of sushi is $3.50 which is a bargain if you know what to choose. Ordering on the iPad is a very inventive idea much like Wagaya in the valley which saves alot of time and allows some privacy. Good food with quick service.
Every plate of sushi here is $3.50 - which is definitely one of the main reasons and Sushi Edo chain does draw a crowd! Taste wise it was tasty, however in a way you do get what you paid for and serving size wise they are a little smaller. Service here is inconsistent. The one time I visited here, one of their sushi plates fell on a customer and it took them 5 minutes to notice.
Came here for dinner last night and at 6pm, it was already packed! We managed to snag the last two seats, otherwise we would have had to wait. The sushi is fresh and delicious and there are so many combinations to choose from. Definitely love the seared wagyu nigiri and the seared salmon nigiri. My husband tried the volcano which had salmon and scallop, he loved it. Love the idea of ipads as an ordering device especially if you can't find it on the train; besides sushi they also sell soup dishes too. Service is quick and friendly and professional. Will be back!
One of the best sushi trains I've been to. Great price, variety and really fresh seafood. So affordable!! Would visit often. Though you gotta come in early as this place fills up quick!
We came here because the one in CBD is really nice and this one is closer to us. Not sure maybe because it is Friday night, seafood portion is smaller than normal(eg. uni), some sushis arrived cold, this was a bit disappointing and has room to improve. Overall, sashimi is good, service is good, and very reasonable price too.
This place is awesome. Even though it was busy (for a Monday night), they managed to seat us straight away. They explained the tablet ordering system and service was super quick. Good variety and delicious sushi. We also tried the ramen....which we regretted soon after. Stick to the sushi. They know what they're doing.
Love love love this place. Dined on a busy friday night - waited about 20mins; well worth it. All plates are $3.50 which includes my favourites: aburi salmon & scallop. šwas satisfied with flavour of each plate but presentation could be improved. Service was speedy and friendly. Have been raving about Sushi Edo to all friends!
For those who know me, they will know my adoration of the concept of flat rate sushi trains, where all dishes are the same price. Having been to several in Sydney and overseas, it is something I consider to be very deficient in Brisbane. However in the last couple of years, Sushi Edo has begun to fill the void. Having been to Sushi Edo at Newmarket and Elizabeth Street, it was long overdue for one to be opened at Sunnybank. I was quite pleased when I saw the announcement that one would be opening at Sunnybank Plaza, and seeing it open last week, I decided to go and try it out to see if it is on par with the other ones.
This is my favourite sushi train!!! We always go to the one in Brisbane City and we are so happy to see they now have one at Sunnybank!
I love the idea that you can place your order via iPad at the table as well as sushi train, therefore, you don't have to wait or try to get a waitress to take my orders.
All sushi, handrolls and some side dishes are $3.50 only. It has a wide range of sushi and dishes!
They also offer ramen, udon, tempura, etc at extra price.
One of the best sushi restaurants in Brisbane. The plates all are the same price and they make them fresh. You use a tablet to make your order. Excellent service. Highly recommended.
My favourite Sushi Edo franchise. I visit for Dinner and the restaurant is fully occupied. The Sushi is freshly prepared with generous toppings with the exception of the Uni (Sea Urchin) Nigiri. Like my previous visit in April, the serving of Uni is again pitiful. May I suggest to management to raise the price of the Uni Nigiri and provide a decent serving of Uni?
The Scampi Nigiri, Crumbed Kaki (Oysters), Wagyu Nigiri and Agedashi Tofu are my favourite dishes,
Sushi quality was very good and customer service was great!
Especially the lady who served us,
Quick and friendly.
The lady also gave little toys for my 6 years old daughter when we paying there.
Definitely will go back again.
Sushi Edo has to be one of my favourite sushi trains in Brisbane, with its many variety too choose from which in my opinion is unmatched by any other sushi restaurant in the district.
The minor downside is ive been a regular for nearly 5 years and I've seen the price gradually gone up from $3.50 to $4.80, which is understandable, but the quality seems to have gone down, pending on what day it is and how busy they are. Table services has gone to average aswell and could be better with more welcoming engagement and not be treated just like a number.
