Review Cj's Pasta - Brisbane

Andrew Nguyen
We came without booking on the recommendation of a friend. We were glad that they could accomodate us & did not mind sitting on the inox table next to the kitchen. However, we were not happy when it came to the actual food: (1) Rigatoni Nduja: the sauce was hot, but the pasta was cold. I had to ask to reheat again (2) Kingfish Spaghetti: the fish was great, but the spaghetti was a bit hard. Regarding the service, we know we came without booking. We were not surprised that attention was paid more to the ones sitting on proper tables. However, we were disappointed that no apology was made, when we paid for the meal. We felt that our dining experience was not taken seriously. We also thought $10 sparkling water was on the high side. There were many things that could be improved in term of service & quality control. I will come back to buy the pasta to cook at home. Let’s see how it goes.

Food was alright. I just had better ones in other places. Alil disappointing but the server was fast and friendly.

Had a really nice night here with delicious arancini, charcoal activated gnocchi and amazing tiramisu!

Effortless ambiance that create a wonderful and relaxing experience whilst you indulge in some of the best Italian dishes in town. Loved my experience overall and will definitely be back. Dishes were intricate but not over the top, allowing guests to appreciate food as a work of art. Love the idea of a menu that is designed specifically for each night of the week that the restaurant is opened. Definitely worth checking out guys! Will be recommending to visitors and travelers coming to Brisbane!

I had the bolognese and it was one of the best I’ve ever eaten, the staff seem lovely and very chill vibes. I went at around 11am and assuming I ate from a breakfast menu as it was different to the one on the website. I think they over charged me as I thought my meal was $17 but I was charged $25, could be my mistake though, I didn’t say anything at the time as I was in a rush.

We had a private function at CJ's and it was a truly special and intimate evening and our host really looked after us! Very easy to communicate with and a very fair price for what we had. Would recommend for any special event, our only feedback would be bottomless aranchini balls please! 🤤

A great selection of their fresh pasta and sauces, frozen. Good sizes for four or more people. Veg options, they also offer catering at a price per head, and supply to retail outlets. We catered for sixty people from their stocks.

This must be one of the greatest local gathering places where you always welcome and feel as you never left. Staff is very friendly, happy and knows their stock. You will never find better product,:pasta, ready meals and do not forget Rita's cakes.

Since checking out Ripiena Pasta Lab, quite a few friends had recommended that I try CJs Secret Pasta Club in West End to compare the two. I had since tried on multiple occasions to book a table to then be told that they are fully booked for the evening. Only a couple weeks ago was I finally able to call up in advance and score us the last table for dinner.

We went to CJs for a birthday and all of us are mad pasta lovers having all been to Italy. The service was great and the atmosphere lovely. The focaccia was mouth watering as was the Arancini. Unfortunately the spaghetti and ravioli were undercooked and were disappointing, but the linguini prawn and zucchini was very flavoursome and pasta al dente.

Will definitely try again, maybe it was just an off night.

This restaurant has a small menu but everything was absolutely perfect. The food was incredibly delicious. Caters for dietary requirements and all staff were very friendly. Highly recommended!

My new favourite restaurant! Loved the intimate, candle lit cosy atmosphere and retro music, perfect for date nights or dinner with friends. Only seats 14 plus a few seats outside so make sure you book in advance. The food was amazing and super tasty, the menu changes daily but there are always 5 options to choose from. We had the taleggio and spinach arancini balls to start plus duck ravioli and gnocchi bolognese for main followed by dark and white chocolate pannacotta dessert. Could not fault anything, flavours were delicious and we would happily eat that every day! Vegan options are also available and pasta and ready made sauces are available for sale as well. It is also byo and corkage is currently $5 (mains are around $23 - $28 but depends on the menu). Would highly recommend and will definitely be back to try more!
