Meatballs And Beef Cheeks

I've been to Greaser dozens of times over the past few years and I really love this place. The first couple times I was intoxicated by the combination of wonderful food, good drinks, great music and nostalgia for the underground bar scene in New York - this place just felt like home and I rated them a 5.
Some of the best burgers and the second best fries I've eaten in Brisbane were served up at Greaser, but occasionally I'd experience a sub-par meal. Sub-par when you are expecting a 5, doesn't mean bad, but after a few of these experiences I edited my review and downgraded Greaser from a 5 to a 4.5.
I've been to Greaser twice in the past fortnight and have come to accept the reality that they no longer serve Brisbane's best burger. When they are on, they are definitely one of the best, but their consistency just isn't there. Could this have anything to do with the rise of UberEATS and other delivery services? Higher volumes and less quality control? The portions have also gotten smaller.
At present, Greaser serves up a very good burger and tasty fries. My wife still loves the double smoked dog with cheese-floss and the many varieties of beer and cider on tap and on offer. Live music and a great vibe help to keep their rating high, but the overall rating has been reassessed at a 4.
On my most recent visit I caught up with some fellow reviewers (MB, Mandy Bernadette and Rebecca) and got beaten soundly in a burger eating competition. I dispatched the mortals easily, but the first and second place finishers beat me by more than a minute and were quite something to watch. More volume of food and I like my odds a whole lot better as I'm not really a sprinter - the whole pizza I ate an hour earlier probably didn't help.

Dropped rating from 5 to 4.5 following two sub-par burgers, but still the best burger in Brisbane.

Best Burgers in Brisbane. I've been to Greaser a few times now and I love it.
The cheeseburgers are the best in Brisbane and my wife swears by the hot dog.
Fresh pressed granny smith apples and whiskey make for an interesting and refreshing treat.
We've introduced quite a few of our friends to Greaser and it even gets the approval from vegetarians for the Portobello mushroom burger.
So, met up with a few reviewers tonight for a nice dinner....ok we had burgers.....ok so we may have entered a burger eating competition😅😅
Now when you hear the words "burger eating competition" you automatically think MASSIVE PORTIONS, but unfortunately it wasnt like that, the burger was really small but actually really tasty, the patties weren't dry, beautiful amount of cheese but needed more chilli, didn't find it till I reached the bottom of the burger. Not a fan of the chips, they weren't cooked properly but the funny thing is had plenty of time to make a fresh batch before serving our meal. Love the location of this place, truly underground and American- would I go back, yes!!
A hidden bar in fortitude valley that's known for its burgers as much as it's known for its drinks. The burger special was oh so good although maybe candied bacon instead of fried?
If you haven't been here I really feel sorry for you. Greaser's burgers are scarily good. Order the cheeseburger and you'll become addicted, I had absolutely no faults with mine and am dying to go back and get another one. The staff here are really friendly and patient and the atmosphere is perfect for a little get together or a cute date (if you really want to impress someone then bring them here).
Quite a few of us headed for dinner & drinks to celebrate a work colleagues birthday.
I had a great time.
The venue itself is the definite highlight. It's a hidden labyrinth, seemingly in a loading dock. I really like the adventure of finding it, & the slight feeling of unease you get when you're not sure if you're in the right place. Bar itself is cosy with knowledgeable bar staff , great cocktails... & the amazing 'pickleback'.. shot of Jameson & shot of pickle brine. My new favourite drink.
... & the food was pretty decent as well.
I ate a Portobello mushroom burger with chilli fries which I enjoyed. The rest of our group all raved about their food.
The Brisbane food scene gets more interesting daily. It's exciting to participate.
Dark and dingy with classic tunes all add to the atmosphere of Greaser in Fortitude Valley.
It's situated on Brunswick street - straight past Eye Candy Adult bar. If you miss it - I don't blame you. You have to walk down the alley and follow the hands on the road that point you in the right direction. Even then you still wonder if you're in the right place, as you pass the chefs in the kitchen behind steel mesh doors before you enter through some clinking fringe curtains.
As you enter, your eyes adjust to the dim lighting and loudish music. Looking straight at the bar, there are some small signs for the weekly specials and the biggest drinks shelf I've ever seen, absolutely packed with wine, spirits, aperitifs and liqueurs.
A classic All American menu consisting of cheeseburgers, buttermilk fried chicken, chicken burger, Mac and cheese burger, loaded hot dogs all by the spot with the star of the night being the fried chicken. So greasy, tasty, deliciously hot and satisfying, I highly recommend the cheat meal.
Staff were super friendly and happy to be there, from being greeted by security on the street, to the chefs in the kitchens to the wait and bar staff, I truly felt welcomed.
Go here: if you're fanging some greasy chicken and an ice cold beer to wash it all down with.
Sneaky location, great vibe (dimly lit with underground alleyway feel), and the burgers and fries are not particularly fancy but they do the simple things very well. Beer collection is nice.
Greaser is hidden away in the depths of the Valley, but once you find it, you'll love it. Well, if you're into the more darker, grungier, American rock scene. The music is loud, and it's not the place to take someone on a first date. But the burgers are sensational. Top 3 in Brisbane I'd say. They are classic, no gourmet fanciness. Just good burgers made properly. Chips are also awesome, and the fried chicken (if covered in sauce) is good.
Located through a secret alleyway... definitely feels like going back in time to the beer prohibition in the states. This place has an incredible atmosphere, with great beer selection and incredible food (we all thought the cheeseburgers were fantastic). The night we were there they brought out an 11 piece Jazz Band at 11pm ... highly recommended!
I got invited to Greaser Bar! It's been on my list of go to places because it was one of the very few place in Brisbane that was open after 10pm at night! A*., Mr A., Manda and I found a list of places to go to our after late shifts at work but they are woefully few and far between. That is unless you count Korean places and sometimes you just want a bit break from all that Korean food!
