Review Lr Sushi - Brisbane

Katelyn Cleary
The best sushi in Brisbane city. We drive down from Gold coast sometimes just to have it. It's just a small shop, but once you try the spicy karage chicken roll you'll know why we love it so much!

Brilliant food, cheap, super quick. What's not to like ? Katsu curry on rice my fave.

I’ve been a big supporter of LR for over 5 years now. The price has been steadily on the rise over the years but still worth it. I remember when it used to be $2.20 per roll! The fillings are always generous and fresh. Consistently delicious!

Tried a few sushi rolls, quite like it actually. Looks like just another take away sushi, but it has a subtle seasoning difference & rice is a bit different. I tried salmon & avo; karage; tuna & sesame; & the crab stick with eel. The crab stick & eel is the best one. Sushi rice is quite good, chewy not mushy. I didn’t really like the tuna one because of the seasoning, but all the rest are very delicious.

Reasonable price with delicious food. The chicken and avocado rolls are really good. Most of the rolls just cost 3-5 dollars each. Worth a try if you pass the queens plaza.

a bit hit and miss in terms of freshness. sometimes you can tell it's been sitting in a fridge which i find unenjoyable. but. when it's good, it's good. i am obsessed with the teriyaki chicken rolls and have tried a few others - all good. it's just that these rolls are HUGE and cheap. can not go wrong. favorite hand roll sushi joint anywhere ever.

Definitely the best takeaway sushi in the CBD! However, sad to see that there prices are increasing slowly :(( but still will come here often as sushi is always so fresh!

The food was a bit to sweet for my taste, but alright. The sushi is one of the best in cbd and the price its average compare with other places in Brisbsne Cbd.

There is definitely a reason why these guys always have a line during your lunch peak hour. They are definitely the best sushi in Brisbane CBD for all you city workers. There is one on Adelaide Street, and one in the 400 George Street food court. Consistent, filling, and affordable!

By far the best takeaway sushi in brisbane. My all time favourites are fresh salmon and avo as well as hot and spicy karage chicken. A good step above any other sushi joint, and always consistent with their rolls.
Lilija
These sushi rolls used to be very tasty and good value for money however their prices have slowly crept up over the years which is a shame. Stay away from any of the sushi rolls with chicken as the meat quality is very poor and of a strange consistency with little red bits in the centre.

Always a queue at this cbd sushi hotspot and for good reason. The 10 minute wait is well worth it. Because of LR sushi's popularity there is always a high turn over of stock so you know the sushi is fresh. The chicken, mango and cream cheese roll & soft shell crab roll are my favourites.

I had a chicken teriyaki roll, salmon and avocado and a bbq chicken or something, i would never usually buy chicken sushi but It was the end of the working day and peak hour so the stock was low. I thought the sushi was dry and flavourless, It was loosely rolled and it wasn't succulent at all.

Great sushi but too pricey. This is great sushi but has become too expensive. I've watched the prices go from $2 a roll to $2.30 to now $2.50 a roll (over the last 12 months) for the basic flavours. I now see that you've started limiting the amount of basic flavoured rolls you have so people spend upwards of $2.70 & $3.00 a roll. Too much and too greedy by your company. Have been shopping elsewhere for lunch.

When it comes to fresh, cheap=good. This LR Sushi is conveniently located on Adelaide Street, smack bang in the middle of the CBD bus stops; no wonder then that there is a constant stream of people lining up for their sushi fix. Let's get straight to the point; this is how much sushi should cost everywhere. AND, because they are so scrumptiously cheap, the high turnover guarantees freshness. I had a couple of hit-and-miss in my selection of four (since I had to spend $10 on EFTPOS), the highlight being the good ol' California. The unagi was slightly dry, the seaweed was overly wet (the rice on the bottom was green from the juices) and had it not been for the side serving of a yummy mayo, the others would have been overly dry. But, nonetheless, fresh, passable and definitely priced right.

Fantastic Sushi. Great sushi and very cheap. Previous reviews say it all

Great Fast Lunch. The rolls were delicious, cheap, and fast. I tried the spider roll, california roll , and a fresh tuna roll. All of them were good. Perfect spot for a quick lunch. Will return.

Sushi lover. The best sushi i have ever tried. Awesome quality and quantity.
This is simply worth ur spending.
The queue can look daunting but it does move quickly. Totally worth lining up for - I especially like the salmon & avocado roll; simple & delicious!
Tanya
GREAT!. One of the few places in town that do raw tuna sushi rolls. AWESOME!
Julian

Cheese Fiend
The best takeaway roll sushi i've had. If your after a few quick rolls or are passing through the area i'd definetly recommend trying LR out.

Highly Recommend. Have been eating here for about 2 years and have yet to have a bad roll, plus everyone I take there for a CBD snack love them too.
The rolls are big, cheap ($2-$2.80/roll) and with such a high turnover are always fresh.
Personal favourites is the hot&spicy karaage, california, tempura salmon and asparagus, tuna and avocado.
Free mayo, soy sauce and wasabi is a great addition.

Cheap, quick and delicious!!!!!
Linda
Handsdown the BEST sushi in Brisbane! Love the free mayo! $2 for a roll you can't go wrong!
Kate
This is the best Sushi in brisbane! I walk half an hour out of my way just to get this sushi each week, it's amazing and cheap and the staff are so friendly!
Jo Sorrentini
Biggest, cheapest and tastiest sushi in Brisbane CBD. I eat from the Felix St Love Roll Sushi at least 3 times a week. $2 for a large tasty handroll of chicken avocado, salmon, honey mustard pork etc. Delicious! The queue is worth it!
Little Buddha
This sushi is the shizzle!!! The most amazing, fresh, jumbo sized sushi I have EVER had! The best in Brisbane for sure!! Mmmm mushroom and tofu, spicy chicken, chicken avo... It's all yumbo!! Warning: it is addictive!
Ladyinareddress
Best sushi in the city. Always fresh, always good. Definitely the best takeaway sushi in the city.
Mimisparklebottom
The line speaks for itself.. BEST SUSHI EVER, my fav crispy chicken and avo is only $2. I have to go there everytime im in the city and im never disappointed!
Memily
Kingfish.. Fat, fresh, cheap nori rolls. The best takeaway sushi in Brisbane. I don't work in the city so LR is such a treat for me when I can get it.
AY
I eat here every week and it is by far the best takeaway sushi in Brisbane. Always fresh and they've kept their prices pretty much the same for years. You can really see how LR has influenced the other sushi places in town - many now are adopting the style of having generous looking ingredients popping out the ends of the rolls. Still the best keep up the good work.
ThatSeriousGirl
Za besto.. The best takeaway sushi in Brisbane. Central to everywhere basically, the turnover is crazy so you're never stuck with old dodgy sushi. just get in fast, as before you know it the line is extending out past Starbucks.

Big, fat, 2 dollar sushi. What more could you want? For almost all of 2010, if I got into a fight with my family, I would bring them home this sushi and it would make everything better.
White Orchid
GENEROUS!. I used to work in Coorparoo and I live in Kangaroo point. So I used to go to the city in the morning, get LR sushi and go back to Coorparoo as the sushi around there did not compare.

The line is pretty long most of the time you go here, butdon't let it stop you from trying it, as it goes really fast as everyone seems to know what they want and they only take cash so that speeds up the whole process.

I really like the sushi from here. and they are generous with FREE Japanese Mayo (ask for it) and there are big tubs of soy sauce and wasabi to grab as you please .

Always fresh! Never had a bad sushi from here and Ive been a regular for about 3 years.
Brenda Lai
Long line but it moves quickly with many fast servers. Salmon&avo my fav, with large salmon pieces and so cheap for $2! Can get own soya sauce&wasabi and mmmmm big lob of tasty mayo!
Elle
I am a sushi fiend. And this is definitely up here with the best in Brisbane.
Love! (Prawn wasabi rolls are so good, and love the raw tuna with sesame)
Cafe Junkie
Wow! So good & so cheap. No wonder this place is so popular.

IMO Best sushi rolls in town. This place would be my first choice for sushi rolls in the city. Enough said?

Well, there are so many sushi roll places in the city, but this place is the best for both choice of flavours and taste. You can probably tell them apart from others by just walking past. That properly made sushi smell makes my mouth watering trying to find an excuse to buy them every time. But with only $2.5 a roll, it's a good excuse in itself. Ask for pickled ginger for an extra bit of kick or Mayo to compliment any deep-fried sushi. Eat them fresh or keep them for a guilt-free midnight snack. They still taste good hours later.
Alieraleilia
Best cheap lunch in the city. This really is the best sushi in the city and the cheapest lunch in my opinion. I've tried almost all the flavours and have decided that I love chicken & avo, terriyaki, honey pork and soft shell crab the best (authentic I know!). The Adelaide St shop is always busy but the shop on Felix St often has the same quality with a shorter line. I think there is also a store in Maccarthur Central perhaps?
Kessler
By far best sushi takeaway in Brisbane. Large range of rolls which taste absolutely fantastic and have a plentiful amount of filling. The best thing though is the awesome range of free condiments. This place gives you a massive amount of free mayo and all the Ginger, soy and wasabi you want..therefore creating an awesome takeaway sushi meal that pretty much no other stores can match. Note though, prepare to wait a while in line when u arrive.

At Rakewell HQ, we stand for nothing if not a citizen's right to have peach on his handroll.
Sir And Mlady Dine Out
Nice sushi rolls here. I've eaten their delicious rolls quite a few times while travelling and have always found them tasty and fresh. The rolls are always plump and full of goodies - unlike some places that are a bit mean with the good contents.
TIFFIN Bite Sized
I've tried the sushi from LR Sushi and it's OK. Not bad, not the best sushi I've ever tasted but fine.
Dolce Bunnie
The sushi rolls here are not traditional, but they are filling and very cheap. My current favourite is their California Roll ($2.50), although the Spider Roll is also quite tasty ($2.80).

The first time walking around Brisbane CBD, we saw a huge line up at this sushi place. We wondered why. Many people who have visited Australia said that Japanese food isn’t nearly as good as it is in Vancouver. We wanted to see what the fuss was about at LR Sushi. When we went back to the CBD to shop, we made sure to grab some rolls from LR Sushi on the way home to try. They have some pretty unique rolls that seem odd – like Honey Mustard Pork, and Chicken, Peach and Cream Cheese. They do have pretty cheap rolls though ranging from $2-3, so I’m guessing that’s one of the reasons they are so popular. Overall the Sushi was decent. It’s meant so you can eat on the go. The rolls aren’t cut, but wrapped in cellophane. You can grab little fish-shaped soy sauce squeeze bottles and put a few drops with each bite. Pretty good idea especially in the hustle and bustle of the business district. They are always on the go. We ordered Chicken & Avocado, Karaage, Honey Must
