Review Muzzas Gourmet Pies - Brisbane

Really 4.5 stars. I don't give 5 stars easily Muzza left some years back but passed the torch to the current baker who has kept the gourmet flame burning. I must say that the pastry is outstanding. There seems to be about 20 different kinds of pies. Today it was chicken and mushroom was was good but my fave so far is tandoori chicken. For me it must be washed down with a Bundy ginger beer. I hear the sausages roils are special but so far I can't go past the pies. The pies are $7 a throw so you would expect a quality article. The service is very friendly and I would walk an extra kilometer to get a Muzza pie.

Went on a little pie crawl and our first stop was Muzza's (Gourmet) Pies in Coorparoo. Their best sellers are reportedly the various chunky steak options, but we were also recommended the chicken, brie & asparagus pie ($6), and that's what we went with. The boy wanted a party pie ($2) so we got one of those too. Verdict: kinda wished we went with a chunky steak option instead, cos this chicken pie, whilst an ok choice, wasn't a real standout. The brie wasn't too obvious, but then again I guess it's not a strong cheese to begin with. The pastry itself was pretty good - flaky top and sides/base not too dense. With all pies at $6 or less, I'd be happy to return and try some other flavours.

First time @ Muzza’s & definitely will be back. We had the chicken Brie & asparagus pie and the beef chilli & cheese. Loved the chicken pie for its actual gravy rather than mornay & the Brie really comes thru.

Good pies seem to be really hard to find in Brisbane but the pastry used here is fabulously flaky. The mince/cheese and cheese/steak are a hit in this household but for me, the chicken and mushroom wins every time. The broccoli and cauliflower triangles are so good too - they may sound odd but are so enjoyable. Yum. I also like that you can buy frozen pies for $3.00 and packs of pasties or sausage rolls for $5 too they make for a low effort dinner or delicious snack.

Pies were very good. Looking forward to trying the dessert pies next time.

Not being local we visited Muzza's for lunch today. I had a ham and salad roll which was very nice, the coleslaw was a pleasant surprise. My husband had a chunky beef and mushroom pie. He said the pastry was lovely and the filling was really tasty. The guy that served us was friendly. Definitely recommend.

Had the chicken, brie, and asparagus pie and enjoyed it. There were plenty of tender chicken chunks, and the pastry was excellent -- flaky on top and not overly greasy on the bottom like at some other pie places. Wish there had been a bit more brie in it, but overall a very decent pie. Friendly service as well. Keen to return and try their other fillings!

Had just had breakfast close by & after something savory always like to upset the balance with sweet. I know it was a pie shop but am not a pie person so opted for the eye catching rocky road slice. Coated in thick chocolate it looked eye catching & I am a big fan of rocky road, in particular the Darryl Lea variety. This didn't match up quite to that though. Was hard & chewy & wasn't keen on the licorice allsorts through it, unique though it was

After the light brekkie @ the Stop 26, my gaze was caught by the sign broad of its neighbour - the Muzza's Gourmet Pies, which recalled the episode that I had the pie a while back at this eatery. Walked in one morning for exploration after I read some negative reviews of this pie shop. Well, nothing going wrong here in terms of the varieties of pies that was offering. Particularly, I loved the Steak & Mushroom pie that I had. Those generous portions of chunk beef with well balance of flavour and the crispy pastries were impressive. I would not say that it was the best in town but at least they served the customer with tasteful pies and they were in good values too.

Popped into Muzza's Gourmet Pies with Mini Meatball and sampled the Chunky Beef Pie and the Rocky Road.

The Chunky Beef Pie had nice big chunks of beef in a thick, rich sauce with a nice amount of black pepper. This was really nice and rated 3.5-4.

The Rocky Road was ok, but tasted like it has probably been sitting in the case a while. This rated a 3.

I wouldn't hesitate to return for a Pie when I'm in the neighborhood.

Has changed hands and is now really crap! I work near this Muzzas and it used to be really good. I eat there at least once a week. It has recently changed hands and I'm disappointed to say the new owners have decided to change the quality of the product. For the worse. I can only assume they are trying to save money. I've tried 4 times now and am about to give up. When I get a sausage roll and there is literally only 1 inch of meat in the pastry, that's bad. When I go in at my normal lunch hour or 1pm and they are out of everything but chicken pies, that's bad. I tried a mince meat today and it was mostly nasty tasting gravy and very little meat. I will give them one more chance before I stop because I used to like them. But after 4 weeks and it just getting worse and worse, I doubt it will improve. I'm sad.

Awesome pies and great local institution. Recently changed owners but pies are still the same. We always get the frozen ones and cook them at home. Cheap and delicious.

Ridiculously good. Muzza's is so ridiculously good. Best pies I've eaten in brisbane. Also very hard to get a good sausage roll in Brisbane, and these are by far the best I've ever had.

Best Pies in Brisbane!!!. Murray makes the best pies, no doubt about that!
My favourite is the chicken and asparagus.

Great Pies. The pies from here are scrumptious! Good variety too. Recommend

Good range of pies - majority variations of chunky beef. Pastry is perfect - flaky, light on top with crispy and think sides and base.. Tandori chicken was a little sweet and could have done with chunky rather than shredded chicken. Will be back in search for lamb and rosemary.
Price range $4-$5.
Card minimum = $7

Best pies in Brisbane by a country mile. Pepper Steak is the go. Muzza might be a Kiwi but he makes a better pie than most Aussie bakeries.

What a cracker!. Muzza's has been around for what seems like forever, and for obvious reasons. The pies are crackers. Best pie eaten in years, made fresh on premises with plenty of variety to choose. The chunky steak is exactly what you dream to find inside the pastry.
