Review Nutrition Station - Brisbane

Clive Cooper
Food - the breakfast wrap - was relatively nice, as was the flat white. However, the place is overpriced. I found the wrap to be too salty, which was interesting for a "healthy cafe". I understand halloumi is salty but so was the scrambled egg and wrap. Wrap tasted like chapati bread which is a plus for me! Staff seemed like they wanted to just laze around and have a chat with each other. They weren't exactly the friendliest, to myself, whilst ordering or serving.

Número uno 😍. This place should be named NS Awesome Healthy Cafe, because this place is amazing. Whether you are a local or a traveler like me and looking for an excellent healthy option then don’t go passed this place. You have arrived to the right place. I’m a traveler and I knew Brisbane is a big city with so many options, restaurants and cafes. NS Healthy Cafe shines bright like a diamond among them, from the simple menu to the genuine taste of the food. It’s simply great.

Great cafe, healthy menu coupled with friendly service. I had the NU bowl - enjoyed this very healthy protein breakfast.

Delicious food, chilled out service and reasonable prices. The location is great and super close to the river so perfect for a walk afterwards. Cant go wrong here

Great customer service, consistently. Food is fantastic also. Great way to control your macros.

Would recommend, however... Delicious nutty banana smoothie, good sized lunch bowl however a bit bland and dry. I like the concept of the place and what is offered, but if you are providing a restaurant style service where the food is made to order, the food could be improved - it seemed like the food was reheated to order. You can have both yummy and healthy. A little bit of salt and some dipping sauce would make a huge difference. I'd still go back because I like knowing what I am eating and the casual friendly atmosphere is great.

Staff were friendly, pricing is quite reasonable. Some items advertised as GF but no stock available. Portion sizes are a good amount. Food is not mind blowing but it’s alright. Got the breakfast bowl but there was a ridiculous amount of spinach which appeared to be steamed but not drained so there was water pooling in the bottom which was making the bacon soggy. The tap water was warm with no ice in glass. Overall nice atmosphere and eggs were pretty great.

Ordered breakfast, when I walked in the staff member didn't acknowledge me. I understand she was making a coffee but she could have at least acknowledged I was there and said I will be with you in a minute. I ordered the Smashed Avo and a Piccolo coffee, Smashed Avo was $15.00 came out on one piece on toast and the eggs were over cooked. Someone at my work had ordered the same thing just before me and they had two pieces of toast and my coffee tasted burnt.

I only ordered a smoothie from here as after tasting it I didn’t even consider trying the food. Ordered the green machine smoothie - watched as the guy behind the counter filled up the cup a third of the way with lukewarm TAP WATER, added a scoop of powder, some chia seeds and green leaves. It was the most watery, tasteless smoothie I have ever had, and after a few sips I literally ended up throwing it out as it was so unpleasant - a total waste of $10, really disappointing. How hard is it to make a decent green smoothie? Sigh.

This place is beautiful in terms of decoration and aesthetics. I absolutely believe this franchise was 100% made for the Instagram crowd so lifestyle bloggers can get their acai bowl or smoothie fixes on Sunday mornings and snap a photo in time to post before peak hour at 9am.

I suppose that is why the food here tastes so poor. Healthy eating does not equal to bad, unflavoured and tasteless food. Everything in this restaurant was pricier than their equals at other brunch places. The matcha smoothie was an insult to matcha lovers everywhere - I could barely taste the matcha, and the consistency of the smoothie was super watery. I absolutely loved the refrigerator in the first half of the store, and grabbed one of the takeaway containers of granola to eat in the store. It was underwhelming at best, and a little bit stale, like it had been made the night before instead of that morning. My friend ordered the breakfast bowl and coffee, and while she is notoriously known for being stingy and willing to eat every last bite on her plate, she left nearly half the meal behind and couldn't finish the coffee because it was too sweet. The staff was inconsistent - some of them were very kind, while others simply chatted with each other and answered any questions we had condescendingly. Needless to say, my friend and I haven't come back since.

We were attracted by their healthy food marketing and whilst the menu catered for this we found it was overall an overpriced and underdelivered service. Kale was one of the additional options ( not surprisingly) but for an extra $3 we expected more than a 1/3 of a leaf ! My soy latte was so sweet for some reason that I couldn't drink it. The broccoli was so overcooked it was mushy. Choosing healthy eating should not mean you have to compromise on quality reasonably priced food.
Such a clean environment and the staff was so lovely. Food was delicious, however, I thought the portion was a bit small for the price. Overall, such a lovely, healthy place. Will definitely return

I was rather disappointed I had already had breakfast as the food coming past whilst I was waiting looked deliciously healthy & appetizing. I ordered a double shot flat white & didn't need to as the extra shot was a little too much. On saying that there was no bitterness & the coffee was robust in flavor

Very friendly staff, ordered a tossed veggie salad with lemon herbed chicken, the ingredients were fresh, the portion size was just right. It’s a nice healthy option if you are looking for something light in Southbank, however might be a bit pricy when compared to other places.

The Nu kid on the block at South Bank is Nu Healthy Cafe. They opened to huge crowds lined up around the block thanks to their free food giveaways.

Open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, they offer protein packed breakfasts as well as smoothies, burgers, wraps, salads and 'create-your-own' Nu Bowls.

We tried the Roast Pumpkin and Chicken Salad and the Nu Bowl with Chipotle Chicken, Brown Rice, Sweet Potato Fries and Tumeric Cauliflower. Both dishes were fresh, crisp and flavorful. Both dishes rated 3.5.

It was impressive how the staff coped with such large numbers on opening day. If they can maintain their quality and speed this will become a very popular dining spot for those looking for something a little healthier at South Bank.
