Craved for a bbq night so dropped to this local Japanese restaurant for a buffet.
Fortunately, we have reserved a table because it was very full last night.
For $45.00 AYCE buffet including seafood, I prefer to have it here rather than other Korean eateries because vibe, service and food quality are all above standard.
We always love to have their bottomless chicken soup in the table, which enhance the charcoal flavour of the bbq meat.
Tell you a small tips, make use of the container wrapped by aluminum foil, pour the chicken soup in and the you can enjoy Shabu Shabu or steam-boat to go with the meat. By this method, you can definitely order more meat for the night Lol!

One of my favourite restaurants. I often take people here when they come visit me up in Brisbane. The food and service are excellent, and I've never needed to make a reservation. You may want to book if you're bringing a party bigger than 4, however.

Love this place.
One of the best all you can eat BBQs in Brisbane. Shame that it’s only on certain nights though.
Really can’t fault the place, but I just get PTSD from the one time they served the Takoyaki Balls and I bit down ... and they were still frozen inside -.-
Other than that one time... it’s really nice. Good ambience 90 minutes is more than enough. They even have a couple of traditional Japanese shoeless sitting areas you can reserve for special occasions.

This review has been a long time in the making! A few weeks ago @vvvvhangry and I made the trek to Shinbashi Yakiniku in Underwood for their AYCE Japanese BBQ. Upon arrival, we were given a hot thermos of soup (delicious, almost tasted like a Cantonese house soup!) and a variety of condiments which we used to DIY our own sauce. Everything else, we ordered from the AYCE menu.
Starting with the meat... For $45 a head, we knew that we had to eat lots of Wagyu to get our money’s worth. So we ordered multiple servings of the Wagyu Marbled Beef, Wagyu Rib Finger, Wagyu Beef and Premium Ox Tongue. Each piece came out a little frozen, but the taste and flavour was delicious. Dipped in sauce or with a bit of stewed garlic (we’ll get to that later!), the beef sung for itself. We also ordered chicken thighs with the sesame marinade, each piece was really juicy and brimming with flavour. My personal favourite cuts of meat were the Wagyu Marbled Beef and the Ox Tongue.
We also perused the seafood selection. Upon inquiry, the wait staff informed us that the fish fillet was Basa. We decided that it would be better value for us to order the Butter Japanese Scallops and the squid. The scallops were so juicy and sweet, I could have eaten them all night! The squid was super yummy and tender, the char of the grill added a distinctly smoky flavour.
We ordered quite a few vegetable dishes to supplement our Wagyu indulgence. The highlights included the corn, garlic and mushrooms! By cooking the corn in its little foil container, the cheese and butter in the dish melts and combines to create some of the best corn I have ever eaten. Roasting the garlic is delicious when paired with meat! It gets all gooey on the inside and is super yum. The mushrooms paired with. The butter is a match made in heaven!
Now to side dishes, we kept ordering the Takoyaki and the Tofu salad. The takoyaki was quite good, I wouldn’t say it was the best I’d ever had, but it was hot and tasty. However, the salad was amazing! So fresh, crisp and light! The dressing was amazing and had a really nice sesame flavour. I could eat that salad for every meal of the day. We also ordered two Nabeyaki Udons. They were so yummy, but it was difficult to finish them when we had eaten so much already!!
I would definitely come back to Shinbashi, but would probably arrive earlier and strategically plan my ordering. Now that I know what is good, I feel that I have a clearer game plan for next time. I will admit that I felt a bit overwhelmed by their extensive menu.
I would say that this is quite an expensive dinner, but we were celebrating a birthday so the occasion and expense was definitely justified. Enjoy everyone and don’t forget to get the scallops 😊
Whilst there has been considerable confusion online about whether Shinbashi Yakiniku at Underwood is newly opened from Melbourne or if it's under new management. I can confirm to readers that through my unrivaled sleuthing skills, it has not changed management and has been open in the same complex along Logan road for over 10 years. What has changed however, is their new marketing team, WeCollective, who organised a marketing launch party last week, which I was privileged enough to go to.
Best quality meat I have tasted at a BBQ restaurant in the South Brisbane area. Well presented and Great service.. I love going here! The quality is worth the price 😄
Food is ok. The only thing makes me not so happy is the serving speed. Once you ordered something, it takes ages to arrive your table. And then you have to bbq them to eat so you can image how long it will take you to finish one meal...
This place is absolutely amazing. Great quality product, friendly service and atmosphere. I have been many times and Shinbashi has been a family favourite for almost 6 years
Great charcoal BBQ with awesome quality wagyu beef. Good setting and friendly staff. Would come back one of the days of BBQ buffet. Gotta say though, ordering a normal set was just enough for 2 and get your bang for buck :)
Come here for the wagyu buffet they have on certain days of the week. However something's are too good to be true as the slices are quite thin. Meat and dipping sauce is delicious with plain rice, however the other dishes they have such as the tendon curry is quite tasty as well.
My wife and I tried out this local Japanese BBQ recently and were happy to find the food was delicious, staff were helpful and friendly, and the prices were on par with other similar bbq restaurants. We will be going back and will recommend.
THE BLACK SAUCE IS JUST LIKE JAPAN
We went there on Friday night so pay for $40 for each person. The volume of each meal is very small and because it is someone service you this makes harder to get as many dishes as you want. The veggies of the BBQ are not fresh. In total, it is not really worth for the money.
The self grill bbq is a delicious feast indeed. A little pricy, but we walked away satisfied with the overall service and dining experience.
Faultless and delicious. Negative reviews that mention "communication issues" and other thinly veiled racist remarks show just how great this place is, the fact that these people couldn't come up with true criticisms. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to lend a hand to newcomers to understand what is a new concept for some - to receive meat and veg raw and to cook it over coals in front of you and your closest friends, while drinking a great selection of sakes, plum wines and Asian beers. Staff have always been very kind (at least from our experience, treating them with respect and due politeness in the first place!), and have paid close attention to us and given us menu suggestions and cooking tips. Besides all that, the food is some of the best in Brisbane. Try the all-you-can-eat weeknights or the lunch specials on weekends if you're conscious about price. Even the reasonably priced lunch special is more than enough to fill even the greediest of bellies!
Mrs. Happy. 2nd time visiting. Great food and fresh. the waiters were friendly and patience. The buffet choice is great to try many plates. They came to our tables to see if we need something else. 13 happy customers coming back again.
Buffet are Great Value. Has had their Monday/Tuesday buffet bbq for about half a dozen times over the past year and half and has never left disappointed. The service I received have always been quick and efficient. The waitress are also helpful and friendly. I suppose it helps when you are polite and undemanding.
The consistency of all the meats and cooked dishes are very good. I especially enjoy both the pork belly and marbled beef. I also have to specially recommend their white rice. Being Asian, I'm always taught to target only the higher cost items on the menu for buffets but their white rice is simply cooked to perfection with the right combination of fragrance and firmness! Being someone who grew up feeding on rice, I find it irresistible and always end up with a bowl each time. Overall, the food are great and well worth the $35 each time!
Just remember to call and make a booking because it can get packed during buffet days.
Fantastic service, however it wasn't busy when we were dining at the time. Still loved the food, the beef cuts were delicious, they took the time to teach us how to cook it, although I preferred it a little more medium rare. Pleasant experience overall.
Dinner. Finding this place wasn't too easy, or too hard. You see the sign, park your car out the front and then a sign says entry is over here, to the left of the restaurant. You have to enter through a shop selling ceramics then turn right into the restaurant as soon as you enter. Apon entering we were impressed by the elegant setting and polite Japanese greeting.
Sitting down we were given three drink menus and one food menu. Great place if you like trying different types of Sake and liqueurs.Water was promptly served and we were given a complimentary chicken soup to keep us warm until the food arrived. Waiters were very polite and the service was good. Monday and Tuesday nights have all you can eat.
We chose the BBQ, since we are meat fans. The meat was to be cooked over heat beads, and a waiter brought those out not long after ordering. First came the small bowl of white rice, then the meat arrived in batches. First the thinly sliced marbled beef, then marinated chicken, pork belly and calamari. The sauces provided on the tables were a miso sauce and a soy based bbq sauce. Tasty. They also brought us some enoki mushrooms in an aluminium dish, poured some chicken soup on it and lay it on top of our grill to cook, they tasted delicious.
We fried our meat, ate our Japanese salad, which had a very tasty creamy sesame oil style dressing and relaxed and chatted. We then got given a complimentary shot glass of strawberry sorbet. YUMM. Topped off the evening nicely. The price for two of us was around $80. We will be back on all you can eat night. It's a nice classy place to eat in the heart of Logan.
Awesome place! I was a bit iffy at first because its located in such a random area but the food was great! $35 for all you can eat BBQ. Don't get any of the salads though..use your stomach space on the other delicious things!

Food is good! Service is bad!. I only like this because the food was good. Service (including the manager) was very very average. They kept forgetting orders and it took wayyy too long, but once food is out, it was beautiful. Only good for "all you can eat" because I had lunch there on the weekend as "normal meals" it was abit expensive and probably that's why the shop was literally empty with some lights turned off. Honestly, food was still very nice but heading towards the higher-end. Will go back for "all you can eat" because it's not tasty enough for me to deliberately drive there for normal dining. I rate it 6.5/10
Always amazing. My husband & I are always impressed with Shinbashi! The quality of the meats are amazing & the variety in the buffet menu on Mon - Wed evenings is great! We first visiting this place through an online voucher which a friend gave and we have gone back multiple times since! Great ambiance & friendly service. Highly recommended!
Loved it! Such a nice atmosphere, amazing food and great service. A fun new experience to be shared
Nice yakuniki. Price-6, Service-7, Food-8, Atmosphere-8
Pretty good!
It was really different! The chicken was probably my favourite, I think it takes a bit to get used to the experience. Will go there again!
Good value & fresh food. This place was recommended by a friend & we went in a group and really enjoyed the buffet but it is NOT a Japanese restaurant at all, it is misleading calling it this. My mother is Japanese & was quite disappointed that it was misrepresented as being Japanese but none the less the food was fresh and the service could not be faulted.
It appeared that we had chosen a quiet night to go as it was not that busy so we had plenty of time to try & BBQ everything within the time frame given. We all felt that the price was reasonable for what we got, who ever said it was not cheap for a buffet has to be joking or has not eaten out much lately.
We'd all go back again for sure!
Excellent food and service. Will definitely go back and recommend highly.
Went there fore the $35 all you can eat buffet tonight~ and whilst the food was decent, decor was good as per usual, it was a much less enjoyable experience for me, because of the service...
we basically spent the 30-45 mins sitting and waiting for our food. then the food would arrive in random spurts, making us wait 15-30 mins between each plate of meat etc. arriving. this is pretty appalling considering they put a 90 min limit on your meal~
i understand that it may be hard to cater for every table when ur busy~ but seriously, the wait made the meal so much less enjoyable
One of the best kept secrets in Brisbane. Great food and a fantastic atmosphere with very friendly and helpful staff! Truly one of the best dining experiences I've ever had!
Great dining experience. Tried it out with the family - everyone loved it. Very nice fresh ingredients, beautiful sauces that did not overpower the food, attentive and helpful staff.
The separate dining area with tables recessed into the floor so that it looks like you are sitting on the floor is particularly cosy.
A great find, and worth the hike from the northside even! We shall return.
Best restaurant ever!. Fantastic service. Great food. Excellent dining experience.
Highly recommended to anyone who hasnt tried Japanese style BBQ. I'm sure you'll thoroughly enjoy.
One of the best Japanese BBQ Restaurant I've been to. Great food, especially their wagyu beefs, and the fit out is just amazing. Highly recommended for people who appreciates good quality meat and unique dining experience.
Then, in quick succession, the plates of meat came out. You can probably identify the wagyu from the ox tongue:

I decided to try Shinbashi Yakiniku (Japanese Style BBQ) after seeing how much my friend loves that place. 'It must be good' - i thought to myself since she had already been there AT LEAST three times (mind you, she lives in Canberra) and the restaurant has only been opened for about 7 months!
Fantastic customer service! Great food. Cooking it yourself is incredible! Would definitely recommend. The restaurant Doesn't look like much from outside, but once you walk inside, you are transported to an incredible atmosphere, food was exceptional quality, staff were very friendly and the whole experience was Brilliant!
We went there for lunch on Sunday. Very busy place.
All you can eat $45 90 minutes.
Attached is menu with "no Shashimi, the first beef item and scallop you can only order once."
It was ok.
Service was good.
Meat was not in particular great.
Seafood was average.
But the entrees are better than expected, such as croquettes, karage, tacoyaki.
Pipi seemed to be precooked, not much flavour left.
We wanted to try something different tonight and tried this place nearby us. What a great surprise! Great food and well priced and awesome experience! We had the shinbashi platter that had a great variety and added Tiger prawns - $90 for two! Perfect date night!
Foods were fresh and tasty😋
The prices are bit high and my friends told me that if we dun order set for 4/6 , it getting to be more expensive. Maybe men will feel not full if dun have much budget.
Aesthetic Japanese bbq restaurant. We ordered the signature selection for two, which was $109.9 and it included 2 bowls of rice, grain fed short rib, premium wagyu dice, pork belly, boneless chicken thigh, bacon rice cake/ asparagus, scallop, takoyaki, oyster mushroom w/ butter and sweet potato w/ cheese. A kettle filled with chicken soup was also provide, along with scallions, seasoning and 2 sauces for the meat. The food was great and the service was efficient, but It would be better if more tissue was provided.
My favourite bbq restaurant in Brisbane! Buffet lunch is such good value. I’ll definitely be back in the future and will be recommending this place to my friends in the future!
Had the banquet that you BBQ. The meat was excellent! They kept it coming fairly quickly when we ordered it. It did get quite busy.
A dependable Japanese BBQ/Yakiniku restaurant that I've been going to for years. They offer All You Can Eat or a la carte. I would recommend ordering a la carte as you can enjoy higher grade Wagyu and a larger selection of cuts. Not to say I haven't enjoyed the AYCE many times before! For an extra fun night out I recommend booking ahead and asking for the floor seating.
