Review La Vosh - Brisbane

ozbhoy
I became addicted to their chocolate croissants and to their almond croissants. Soft, buttery pastry. Both chock full of ingredients and the flavours are superb. They do a very good coffee as well. Lot's of inhouse made offerings and a good selection of pastries, sweets and also savoury items. Their are breakfast meals available and a selection of Vietnamese dishes. Fresh bagels and baguettes round out this awesome little bakery. The staff are friendly, the prices are good and the food is great. Get on it!

Saturday morning bagels a short stroll from home. We all loved it! Tried a selection of salmon, bacon & eggs, jam and cream cheese. Will be back to try the Bahn Mi!

I come here for lunch whenever I'm in this part of town. They have a wide range of bagels with quite a few different toppings, including Pastrami! The coffee is really nice too. I grabbed a chocolate croissant this time and it was delightful!

Very happy with my brekky today, Had the yummiest hand made sausage roll and coffee, my partner is a little fussy with her morning cuppa and Claudia was so sweet to redo it for her on a different milk. Service like this is hard to come by these days. Definitely coming back

After a morning ride this really topped it off. The bacon and egg bagel and coffee were excellent

You guys have the most amazing and fresh bagels! I have also recently discovered the donuts and my gosh they are delicious.

As a person growing up in NYNJ, their bagels taste like they are from NYC and they are the only place in Brisbane that I can say this about. Their other stuff is also fantastic, including but not limited to crossaints, apple danishes and coffee.

Really delicious bagels. One of the first here in Australia I’ve tried, to really have the taste and texture of a genuine NYC bagel. The everything bagel was so yummy! Full of flavour.

I’m here almost everyday! We recently moved to our new office space in Red Hill and this is one of the closest coffee and food places. The bagels (cream cheese please) are delicious every time and Merlo coffee always on POINT!

Do not order here with Uber Eats or another like platform. You may find, like we did, that if you order Salmon bagels your order may arriving missing Salmon... When we inquired the restaurant attendant hung up on us because she was busy. When we called back she informed us she had no record of our order. After calling Uber Eats the order was refunded. The bagels were stale, missing ingredients and the customer service was atrocious. Never again...

I ordered a salmon bagel this morning. There were two women working in the shop. The woman with the North American accent was friendly and engaging. The other woman was unfriendly and abrupt.

Salmon bagels come with red onion and capers. I asked for no onions. I got no onions but also no capers. The bagel itself was very good, however.

After I have read so many positive reviews of this patisserie, I decided to go for exploration. It was one Sunday morning in July. When I first stepped in the shop, I found that there were so many bagels and other varieties of pastries. Initially I decided to have a bagel but I changed my mind when I saw the triangle with feta and spinach. Therefore, I ordered the flat white and a triangle. Well, flat white with Merlo was done up with above average standard, which may be due to my bias on Merlo. However, there was definitely no regret on the decision of having triangle. The pastry was crispy I loved the mix of feta with spinach, they were very tasteful. Overall, it was a decent experience. Recommended.

Had been meaning to stop in for a bacon and egg bagel ever since I moved to Brisbane! Finally made it in with much anticipation to be left feeling a little disappointed - no sauce or chutney.. can't have a bacon and egg bagel without a little something something!!

This is my go to place when I'm feeling to lazy to make my own challah. It feels authentic, the way it should be. I also really like the bagels here, they are so moist and delicious that you can just bite into them without any spreads or fillings, that's when you know you've found a good bagel! The staff here have always been a friendly but there's not much of an atmosphere, I wouldn't want to sit inside and eat here. I have arrived only to be told that they aren't doing a certain type of bagel on that day before which can be a little inconvenient after driving 15 minutes to get there. I would recommend the jalapeno bagel, it has a really nice flavour to it and it's good with cream cheese too.

Cute little shop, don't let its facade deceive you. Lots of home made treats to suit a variety of tastes. There was every Challah (Jewish Bread - yes some of my friends are Jews, and others are conservative with their money)😝Lovely coffee this morning! Lots of different people are bustling their way into this place to get their morning fix! Great way to start my day! See you again soon!

Fantastic. Great little French patisserie! The yeast raised donuts are to die for and their selection of bagels is awesome with the topping always being fresh. Staff are friendly and always smiling and take the time to give you a warm welcome. The coffee is always great too! My only problem is that they aren't open Sunday's but that is only because i always forget and constantly suggest to go to brunch there with my partner. Would definitely recommend! It isn't spency either

La Vosh Patisserie - Red Hill, Brisbane. A small, yet really happening and interesting little patisserie, getting access to here is tricky if not by foot certainly by wheels. After targeting here for breakfast it was off my dining buddy and I went for this place; managing to snag the one car park out the front was a stroke of luck. With several decades worth of experience as a chef, the management team aims to maintain a casual air to this place; it is a trove of surprises awaiting those who enter.

Inside is decidedly small, keeping that deli feel to it. To snag a table, it is a case of "you snooze, you lose"; some customers are standing around to await orders to go and several sit down where there is an available table - some al fresco. My dining buddy and I managed to get one inside before the waitstaff had a chance to clear it - which they did quickly. All that makes the place standout from the outside is the brightly coloured streamers in the doorway; ultimately is more about the food then how the place looks. Inside, on the tables there is butcher's paper acting as a table cloth; so you can bring the little ones and some crayons and then they can pass the time.

A high turnout such as this place requires a really good degree of service. What we are talking about, is efficiency. Well, the turnout has been consistent for quite a while therefore something is definitely being done right. The girls who run the place are pleasant and friendly, knowing well what they are doing. Orders are quickly done, sometimes it is quicker than others. Above all, it does have that vibe that would be welcoming to local regulars

While there is a lot of the expected bakery treats to be found here, the mainstay - and the reason for my dining buddy and I coming here - were the bagels. These were the proper New York-style bagels as well, not the doughnut-shaped bread rolls To the American readers, this may sound weird - bagels never really took up in Australia so much. Here, the bagels are boiled then baked before being served. This is all done on premise. I am not sure how kosher properly works, so enlighten me if it comes close or is kosher. To go the full experience, I went with the traditional filling - smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, red onion, and rocket. Upon the offer for it to be toasted, I said yes. It was delicious: this combination of ingredients are often put together for a reason - they just blend perfectly. The flavours are sharp and bold, with a variety of textures to make a round meal. The bagel they use is robust and tasty, getting crisped up from a good toasting.

As for my dining buddy, he had his eyes set on the Coney Island Chili Dog. This was a boiled frankfurter in a bread roll served with mustard, chopped raw onion and a generous heaping of spicy meat chili. On the side was a serving of corn chips. It is all about the chili on this dog; it was really spicy and had a deep, meaty taste to it. The bread was soft and crusty, plus the other flavours made a great combination. This is a worthwhile snack that satiates and is really tasty.

Any self-respecting place open for breakfast is going to have to offer coffee, and that is what they did. They get their beans from Piazzo Dorro. With the coffee coming in a mug, and with the offered extra shot taken up, I had a big, hot cappuccino. This was delicious, signifying they also took care to have a talented barista afoot working there. The flavour was deep and rich, plus the espresso very strong. The milk was well textured, and the foam was creamy and smooth. Everything about that coffee was well-done and it was an enjoyable drink.

It lasted two courses. Before coming here, I knew two definite items to order while there: the first had already been done - a bagel - and now it was for one of their bakery treats. Freshly made, I got one of their doughnuts. This was baked, and risen with yeast; most of all it was tasty. It was massive, filling and coated with a generous amount of icing sugar. this was certainly a worthy dessert finish to the breakfast. My dining buddy also got a few mini jam doughnuts for his sweets, and they were good as well.

There is a number of factors that have this place be a worthy spot on the map of Brisbane's dining scene: it goes for something less usual and/or unique then goes the extra distance by doing it well, the air of the place is welcoming and friendly - especially if you have some little ones in tow, and has a lot of rave reviews to support it all. In the honest opinion, it was very good and not a disappointment. This is one place that might be seeing a return, if not it certainly will go down as one of the best finds.

10/10. This place is heaven. The cakes are all delicious and the bagels are AMAZING. Their bagels are just like the ones I ate in New York. The Challah bread from here is the best I've ever had. Jalapeno bagels are my favourite, I wish they made them every day though. I've only been able to get them two or three times :(
YumYum
Always Good!. I have lunch here a few times a week...

Coffee excellent; everything always very fresh.

Relaxing atmosphere and the staff are all very friendly

highly recommended!

Yum!. I work across the road from La Vosh, and hopped in after recommendations from colleagues. As a bagel lover and connoisseur (not really, I can just really appreciate a good bagel!) I absolutely fell in love. It was like... bagel heaven! I also got a little sample taste of bananas in chocolate which was an exceptional touch. Everything is so cute and boutique-y, which makes it that little bit more unique.

The chef was absolutely wonderful and really engaging by offering those samples (which make a huge difference, really.. it's the little things). Definitely dangerous, as I will definitely be coming back for my fix of bagels every week! Love it.

Amazing croissants, but oddly enough very average danishes. Great cakes too!

Unbelievably good ham and cheese croissant - great service and I've been there a few times now - heading for the NY hotdog next - great little spot

Love it!. I am a regular at this gem of a place. I can't believe how reasonably priced everything is and all freshly made on the premises. I am a big fan of the pies which have real pastry and proper chunks of meat. I am really appreciative of the fact that they have petit fours for those of us who want a a sweet treat without ruining our waistlines. The bagels are traditionally made and boiled before baking - nothing like the 'bagels' at other bakeries.

For my taste, the coffee is the best in the area. The milk is heated to just the right temperature and the coffee never tastes 'burnt'. The staff are always welcoming and efficient.

Wanted to try it as live loc.... Wanted to try it as I live locally, but the service was pretty unhelpful, so I left. Need to work on first impressions.

Great pastry and rad hot dogs. I'd nibble on your tasty cheese cakes any day baby!

MEH!. I must say I was quite disappointed. On my first visit I opted for the pastrami bagel hoping to get some meaty goodness but what I was served came no where near this. It was full of salad crap! Not what a pastrami bagel should have! I decided to give them another chance and tried the NY chilli dog. This was quite nice and actually had a chilli taste rather than a sweet one that you would usually be served up around here. But what has ruined this place the most for me was their cute little petit fours. I love trying those cute little bastards whenever I find them.......but La Vosh Patisserie's options taste like, well, crap when compared to the awesome ones you can snatch up at the Brisbane Wednesday markets

My local French-inspired bakery and I can't get enough of it. Great coffee and the smell of the place makes you feel like you're in heaven. So much to choose from: sweet and savory new York bagels, many different pastries and delicious breads from Vienna, cobs, sourdough and the list goes on. Get in quick as the best of the goodies sell out early!

Vive La Vosh Patisserie!. This little shop, from the outside, does not give away the tremendous tasty treasures that are inside! A hidden gem, La Vosh offers fantastic French pastries, excellent coffee and a small-town friendly atmosphere to their regulars and newbies alike!

A friend of mine took me to Red Hills specifically to go to La Vosh Patisserie (16 Aug) and I’m so glad she did! Very unassuming, I was blown away by the delicious fragrance when we walked in. We were warmly greeted by a woman at the counter. I had noticed later on that she had treated me the same way as the other usual customers. What a nice way to feel welcome!

The selection of “goodies” behind the glass looked amazing and indeed the majority had very French sounding names. My friend ordered a Cappuccino and a Cherry Amandes Tart, while I ordered a Long Black and Pain au Chocolat (my order came to $8). With the choice of three tables for two inside, we sat and watched as other happy customers came and went.

Moments later, our orders arrived. There was a nice distinct mix of rich coffee and sweet pastry in the air. It smelled so good!

In that this was a small shop, it was at that same time that a very loud mixing/grinding noise started up. At first I thought it was coffee beans, but it went on too long. There was a staff member at the back, behind the counter, busily preparing some sort of ingredient that was no doubt going to be made into some sort of tasty masterpiece. Not only did this noise make it impossible to have a conversation, but it was painful on the ears. Luckily it ended sooner than later, so we didn’t have to leave. Not sure if this is a daily occurrence here as the sound was quite intrusive.

With things much quieter, my friend and I were able to enjoy our food. My pain au chocolat was massive! It was huge and took up most of the plate! Yet to pick it up, it was very light. Biting into it with its delicate flakiness on the outside was a fantastic subtle contrast to the smooth, buttery airiness of the pastry inside. Coming across one of the two sticks of milk chocolate inside which were partly melted and partly solid, completed this heavenly decadent dessert! Topped with a dusting of icing sugar, it was both pleasant to look at as well as to indulge in!

My long black was rich and full-bodied in flavour. Being such a strong coffee it was the perfect accompaniment to a sweet and delicious dessert!

I really liked this place with its cozy and welcoming ambience. This is certainly the place to have a coffee and sinful dessert with a friend or a place to go when you want to pamper yourself. With its decent selection of freshly-made pastries and charming staff, La Vosh is a destination place that will not disappoint!

Love their chicken bagels and coffee. It has become a regular lunch option for me

Great Coffee. Had tyres getting done over the road and was pointed in the direction of La Vosh. Will be back, would have past by without knowing it was there.Never had a bagel in my life but can see now why people rave on about them coffee was excellent as well.

Unfortunately coffee has taken turn for the worse of late. The fresh bagels and sweets are great but hard to find any justification for microwaving....... anything.
Foodie
Disappointing. I love supporting little local businesses, but La Vosh is making this really difficult. The bacon and egg bagels are microwaved, and generally the bagels are rather tasteless. And not to mention the service! The slowest bagels I have ever seen made - and I have gone there many times now trying to give them a chance! The service and the food needs to improve, or this place will soon get a bad reputation. The sweets however are quite lovely. Clean your act up La Vosh and start treating your patisserie like a business!

Very hit and miss. So much potential but they miss the mark a lot of the time. Much hyped Bacon and Egg Bagel is inedible, however the BLT Bagel is rather nice (and made to order unlike the Microwaved B&E bagel - when will these places learn) - my suggestion to you is to always order what is made fresh. Macaroons are great and so is some of their other sweets but don't dare mention the word "Muffin".
Coffee is well below par for the area!
Kat
Salted caramel macaroon!. I have only ever eaten one thing at this bakery. The salted caramel macaroon is the best macaroon I have eating including in France. It was perfectly crumbly as I bit into it with the most amazing filling. It made my day happy. Can't wait to go back for a bagel.

Hopefully a keeper!. Quick friendly service. Yummy food, had a bacon egg bagel and a jam doughnut. The jam was so tasty, not synthetic at all. Everything was fresh. And my goodness, the variety of yummy treats was a feast for the eyes!
A good price, with options to eat in or take away.
I hope this place goes from strength to strength!
EAT SEE MEET
Hopefully I will return to La Vosh in the near future and be able to update about their famed fresh bagels..

Miss food hunter was craving bagels and decided to visit La Vosh as was recommended on another food blog. It is clear to see that the primary focus here is BAGELS and you can have them toasted, plain topped with sesame or poppy seeds, eaten with cream cheese/ jam or filled like a sandwich.

Finally, the great Brisbane bagel hunt yields bagel treasure!
