Roti Place 🍲 in West End 🌿⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Finally able to dine in again 🌟 This is a nice Authentic Malaysian restaurant serving fresh daily made Roti. Recommended by our beautiful guest critic and West End Local @itscharlottemoon 💓 @kimberleyndinh could not stop raving about the Sweet Roti Kaya so would definitely recommend trying this for a sweet treat at the end of your meal. The savoury roti had a lovely curry sauce but was slightly more crumbly than our liking. We felt that there should have been more roti with the dish to share. The Rendang Beef had a very nice flavour with subtle spices. The Hainanese chicken was lovely and moist, although we feel like there could have been more sauce to put on the rice. Overall, the food was very homely and wholesome. We would definitely like to come back to try out some of their seafood dishes and desserts. ⠀⠀

The place looks new. Food was slightly above average. Wouldve loved it better if they tasted richer in other spices. Instead of just sweet and salty.

We ordered the plain and egg prata. The curry was watered down. A little disappointing. Was looking forward to this.

Guiness pork was pretty good. Would order that again. It was crispy and flavourful.

Cereal prawn was good. They should add more curry leaves and chilli...

Char kway teow was the most authentic dish there. Good char and level of spiciness.

Would visit again for the chilli crab and buns.

Decided to try this place base on a recommendation from a friend. Really glad I drove all the way here for it! I ordered the Nasi Goreng, Chicken Satay and a Cendol Sundae for dessert. The Nasi Goreng was good, not too oily and had a good portion of nuts and Ikan bilis. The chicken satay was amazing! It’s nothing like the authentic satay back in Singapore, Malaysia but it was soaked in sweet gravy which gave it a good taste. Chicken was nice and tender. To finish it off, I had the cendol Sundae which was a first for me. Loved every bit of it and would to go back and try the other items on the menu. Plenty of seats and reasonably priced.

Fully recommend this place to all.

Finally managed to visit Roti Place in West End today for lunch and it was really nice, I ordered the Malaysian fish curry w rice, and it had so much flavour and was full of fish, cabbage, tomato and other veggies. The serving was extremely generous and the place is nicely set out with plenty of space which is nice.
Definitely enjoyed my meal.

We come here for lunch quite a bit. Cheep and cheerful - great bang for buck. Hainanese chicken is my winner. It’s great watching the chefs make roti through the glass window, too.

Authentic Malaysian dishes! The best by far in Brisbane. Highly recommended. Excellent and fast service. Very enjoyable and satisfying meals. Generous portion sizes. Very busy on Saturday evening. Nearly full capacity, yet the food came very quickly. Will be back. At least 5 stars ⭐️

I’d walked past Roti Place a few times but was usually going elsewhere. However, last night I was hanging out with friends and didn’t have plans - so luckily we stumbled upon Roti Place. I ordered the “Malaysian Combination Laksa” and the “Exotic Lychee” drink. I was pleasantly surprised by both.

The drink was delicious, it had the perfect levels of sweetness and fizz. Accompanied with the zesty shredded mint, it was a perfect drink. 5/5!!!

The laksa was super yummy. The broth itself was one of the best ones I have ever had. The seafood was cooked perfectly and the fish balls didn’t have the usual strength of “fishy” flavour. It was a nice change. The long pieces of scored squid were so tender and delicious. This laksa was overall really good. 4/5.

My dining companions ordered the “Hainanese Chicken” and the “Satay Chicken Skewers”. Whilst I didn’t try these dishes, they were both very pleasing to the eye.

Most restaurants in West End are quite small, however the interiors of Roti Place were very clean and spacious. The decor was quite modern and I enjoyed being able to see into the kitchen.

I would definitely come back, as the “Beef Rendang”, “Oatmeal Prawns” and the “Malaysian Fish Curry” really caught my eye. Thank you to the kind staff at Roti Place.

Enjoy 😊

Came here for dinner on a Sunday night, wasn’t too busy as we got there around 6pm. Loved the modern-yet-homey fit-out.

Service was super friendly and speedy. We were seated right next to the window where you could see the chef preparing the roti which was a nice touch! We ordered drinks to start. I love anything lychee so of course I ordered the Exotic Lychee (literally a lychee soda - so good!), whilst the BF ordered the Pineapple Paradise.

Of course being the Roti Place, we haaad to try the roti, so to start we ordered the Roti Canai (traditional roti) and the Kapitan Chicken Wings upon recommendation by the lovely manager Wen. The roti together with that curry sauce was simply a match made in heaven. I wish had ordered another serving because I honestly could eat that roti all day 😅

I ordered the Hainanese Chicken with Rice - absolutely melt-in-your-mouth fantastic. The BF ordered the Oatmeal Chicken - I kept stealing the oats because they were UNREAL. How oats could be so delicious I don’t know, but I’m glad there was a lot of it that I could steal spoonfuls of haha.

Then dessert! Upon recommendation again by manager Wen, we ordered the Roti Kaya and Mount Roti. Watching the chef prepare the Mount Roti was mesmerising... didn’t know where to start! But of course quickly got into it hehe. My favourite dessert is a dessert that isn’t too sweet and that’s what both of these desserts were. We were also given wet wipes too after conquering Mount Roti and all that condensed milk goodness mm. Finished off dessert by eating the lychees that were in my drink haha.

All in all, a really pleasant, wholesome, scrumptious dinner in a really comfortable setting. Felt right at home, with good quality food. Can’t wait to come here again with friends for Round 2 of Mount Roti and more!! Thank you Roti Place 😋

We visited Roti Place on a Saturday lunch and noticed that it was fairly busy (in comparison to other restaurants along Boundary Street). We were seated straight away and were handed menus which we happily perused.

For entrees we selected the Roti Canai ($5.50) and Kapitan Chicken Wings ($7.00). The Roti was exactly what roti dreams are made of - fluffy and buttery. The Chicken Wings were fried well, with a crunchy exterior. It was served with a mayo dipping sauce, which you easily can do without.

For our mains we went with Oatmeal Prawns ($19.80) and Sizzling Black Pepper Tofu with Chicken Mince ($17.80). The Oatmeal Prawns were cooked to perfection, light, crunchy, and not dripping in oil! It’s a rich combination of flavours and textures- which if you’re looking for the taste of prawns- you might miss. But hey, I’m not complaining.

The Sizzling Black Pepper Tofu was exactly what you expected it to be, peppery and again, full of flavour. We don’t salt any of our dishes at home, which is why we found the dish on the saltier side. By no means is this the fault of the restaurant.

For dessert we had the Sago Pudding ($6.50), Pandan infused sago pudding served with coconut cream and coconut sugar syrup. Although smaller in portion, a welcome treat after all the savoury dishes.

Value being the most important in my criteria- I cannot fault Roti Place at all. They offer great tasting food in huge portions and decent prices. If you want to try more of the menu, it is recommended to come in groups. Service is quick, and sitting by the kitchen we noticed how it was run like a well-oiled machine. Each dish came out within 10 minutes of placing the order. We will be back, Roti Place!

Promised to visit this eatery after their kindly invitation end of last year. We went for dinner in groups of four with a voucher deal, which offers eon entrÊe, one main & one side with a drink for each person. This is a generous deal because portions are big and four of us eventually could not finish them all.
We ordered the spring rolls, quid in pepper & salt, bean curd fish roll and chicken wings and Hainan Chicken, Guinness pork, Bak kut Teh, Prawn with chilli sauce. All of the entrees are only passable except the bean curd fish roll gained our appreciation. While everybody is disappointed, the mains came to the table with the side dishes. Well, the mains gained marks back a lot due to the fact that they are delicious and served in big portion. Hero should be the Guinness pork, the texture and sourness deserve thumb-up. If the chef did not heat up the Hainan chicken so the texture will be more tenderised and smooth, then the review marks will be higher.

Thank you for the invitation from Roti Place so we have an opportunity to explore its branch restaurant in West End (previous spot of Jack Pot). We have to have our compliments to the sincere service from the whole team, particularly the venue manager (Wen) who so nice to share her managing experience (on-site catering @ Gold Coast) with us.
We arrived to the restaurant around 6:00pm last night and was greeted by the friendly wait-staff who did not know that we were being invited. After we took our seats near the kitchen, we started our culinary journey from the perusal of the menu. I have to admit that the menu is very broad that this eatery try to introduce as many as Malaysian and Singaporean dishes to the locals. One thing we noticed that they do serve Singapore Chilli Crabs. Even though it is Spanner Crab instead of Mud Crab but it just makes us so exciting. Needless to say, the Singapore Chilli Crab with Deep-fried Mantou  is the a-must order. We also ordered the Malaysian Kam Heong White Clam and an extra savory Roti Canai. Honestly, when I first tasted the Roti Canai, I was not that impressed because it was not that fluffy as what I expected; however, the curry sauce was a good one so it did save mark (3.5/5). The first came to the table was the clam dish, which was large in portion (nearly 750g) and the Kam Heong sauce really kick-stated our appetite (4.5/5). Next came the Singapore Chilli Crab, which looked spectacular with two Spanner Crab sitting on top of the yummy sauce. The Mantou really upgraded the whole dish that provided us the full opportunity to enjoy every single drops of the sauce. For the price of $22.80, I think it is a good deal (4.5/5). Since the crab was so good, we added an extra order the Malaysian Butter Herb Prawn (with Shell), which gave us the feeling of "BINGO". I did not left any prawn shell before and swallowed them all to show my compliment to the chefs (4.5/5).
Overall, this is a decent dining experience in the area and I am very sure that it will be successful and deserved good reputation in Brisbane.
Rating 4.5/5 with half mark for the service :)
Remark: not until I write this review, then I realised that I have been to its sibling in CBD early 2016!

Delicious Malaysian meals! Booked through Zomato, however, when we got there, they didn’t have our booking. I just asked to be seated anyway as they have a few empty tables. Ordered the bak kut teh, roti canai, char keow tiao, chicken wings and Singapore sauce spanner crabs. Was not disappointed! Everything was just delicious. Bak kut teh has decent herbal flavour. Keow tiao was delicious. Roti canai was so good even though i found the curry sauce was a bit too runny. Singapore sauce crabs was so delicious. Overall really great food and will definitely be back for some more food

I'm writing really just about the Rori Cenai, which is awesome, and all I've tried.   The Roti is not the fried flatbread that u see so often, but light, golden and delicious with left over curry sauce.

I used to come to the previous jackpot noodles restaurant here when I lived in west end years ago, so I’m pleased to say roti place is a big improvement. Great roti and the fish curry was fragrant and well balanced. The beef rendang was tender, I would’ve preferred spicier and richer curry. Loved the oatmeal prawn, they are shelled which is nice since this fish is often not shelled when I tried it in other places. This could arguably be the best Asian food in west end 👌

We were invited to dine at Roti Place in West End and I was excited to come along as I'd previously visited the CBD restaurant and loved their roti. We asked for recommendations from the lovely and helpful staff and she gave us a great rundown of popular dishes and other favourites.

To start we chose pork spring rolls and roti canai. Roti canai is one of those things I just have to order if I see it on a menu and this one was great. The roti was super fresh, warm, buttery and crispy. The curry sauce was packed with flavour, a big tick on this dish. The spring rolls were also tasty, good flavour and nice and crisp.

We chose our mains based on recommendations and I'm glad we listened! The first dish to arrive was oatmeal prawns. A dish like nothing we'd ever tried before, it was very interesting and very tasty. The prawns were huge, fresh and very tender. I'm not the hugest fan of part of the shell being left on the tail but this is a personal preference as I know they're perfectly fine to eat. The crumb was really tasty, quite dry and sweet but in a good way. The dish comes just with prawns and the crumb so you may wish to order some veges on the side for a complete meal despite the dish is more than generous in size.

The main event was the fish curry. Beautifully presented over a flaming pot, this was hands down the dish of the night. It was gorgeous. The fish was perfectly cooked and super tender. I loved the variety of vegetables such as tomato, beans and eggplant, all cooked beautifully. The curry sauce was amazing. Perfect balance of spice, heat and flavour, it really was amazing. Having tried many curries in our foodie adventures, I can honestly say this was one of the best both my husband and I have ever had. I liked that it wasn't necessary to have the curry with rice because while that would have been tasty to soak up all the delicious sauce, it was plentiful without needing rice.

We finished with another recommendation, roti tisu - a huge cone shaped crispy roti drizzled with condensed milk. Surprisingly not too sweet, perfectly crisp and incredibly thin. Yum!

Roti Place is highly recommended with helpful, knowledgeable staff, a traditional menu with a few surprises and very delicious food. Thank you to the team for having us, everything was terrific, I've already recommended this spot to family and friends!

We are invited to lunch at Roti Place and on entry we are greeted by Manager Wen. We decide to avoid the Hawker Food dishes and instead share several Malaysian dishes with coconut and Hainan rice. I also order an entree serve of Roti Canai, Phuong Tran‘s favourite.

While waiting for our lunch order we sip on a Malaysian Teh O Ais Limau (Iced Tea), a Pineapple Paradise and a Lemon Lime & Bitters. At $4.50 these drinks are a bargain.

*Roti Canai ($5.50) is light and flaky, one of the best in Brisbane. Rating: 4.5

*Malaysian Fish Curry ($15.80) is beautifully presented with plenty of vegetables and Basa fish. While the curry gravy is flavoursome I like more spices, curry powder and chillies making the gravy more intense. Rating: 4

* Kam Heong Clams ($19.80) are well seasoned, tender and sweet. Rating: 4.5

*Oatmeal Prawns ($19.80) are battered then tossed through butter, oats, curry leaves, chilli and garlic. The fresh prawns are a table favourite. Rating: 5

*Guinness Pork ($15.80) is a generous serve of fried marinated sweetened lean pork. This dish is tasty and offers great value. Rating: 4.5

A very enjoyable meal, thanks to Manager Wen’s recommendations and gracious hospitality. Our overall rating for this meal is 4.5/5.0! Authentic Malaysian food, reasonable prices and large serves. Highly recommended!

We had the best foodie experience at Roti Place West End. From the start to finish everything was perfect. Service by the beautiful staff was exceptional.

We even had the pleasure of meeting the store manager as well who was soo sweet and gave great suggestions on what to order which l really appreciated.

The roti's were a huge hit and was inhaled by my kids. Of course we ordered Singapore chilli crabs and the sauce was really delicious. Definitely needed the You-tiao which was the deep fried Chinese bread sticks to wipe up the yummy sauce.

Our favourite dish of the night was hands down the Oatmeal prawns. We would have never discovered this dish on our own so thank you again for recommending this dish. It was very different and we never had anything like this before.

And finally we finished off our night with Roti Tisu. Roti in a cone shape and we choose the condensed milk topping. This thing was huge! Got the biggest shock when we saw this huge roti mountain land on our table. Perfect way to finish off our awesome culinary experience. Thank you Roti Place West End.

Ordered:
Roti planta
Roti cheese
Seafood combination rice noodle in egg sauce
Hainanese chicken
Oatmeal prawn
Singapore chilli crab
Hainanese steamed rice
You-tiao (Deep Fried Chinese Bread Stick)
Mount Roti (Roti tisu)

Not quite authentic West End Malaysian food This is a good option for Malaysian food in West End. It is really great that you can see the chef making the roti through the large kitchen window. The customer service is great - the wait staff are friendly and attentive and the food is served very quickly. We've been here a few times - we've tried the roti canai, laksa, char kuey teow and Nyonya seafood. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable and the food is very good, but for me the authentic flavours of Malaysia were missing - chilli, spice and belacan (shrimp paste).

Lunch menu is amazing value for money, starting at $9.90 for a good portion of food. If you're willing to spend a little more and order off the main menu there's even more delicious offerings to choose from, I really like the satay chicken skewers, which, coming in at $14.50, is still reasonable. Food is also always fast even in large groups.

First visit to this branch of Roti Place after having been to the city branch a few times. It was unplanned, but a good outcome cos the food came pretty quickly and was satisfyingly tasty. Would be happy to have any of these items again: * B3 roti telur, $8 - roti filled with scrambled egg * C7 nasi goreng, $14.50 - Malaysian style fried rice with chicken and seafood * E14 salted egg yolk prawn, $22 - battered prawn coated with a buttery salted egg yolk sauce * teh tarik, $5 - Malaysian pulled milk tea, served hot Pro tip: ask for a table towards the back if you want a better view of the roti flipping action.

Enjoyed the Singapore Chilli spanner crabs and Char Kway Teow and Roti Canai on a Wednesday night during their Malaysian National Day celebration promotion period. Their food was delicious and really brought back memories of our trip to Malaysia and Singapore. Will be back again. If only they have another restaurant near the Nundah area!

Best roti I ever tasted and it was only the 'plain' one! Can't wait to go back and try others 😁 The curry, the mixed vegetables and the seafood were incredibly fresh, well-seasoned and delicious to say the least. Great customer service and prompt food arrival from the time ordered. Calm and pleasant atmosphere. The prices very appropriate. Definitely high quality food. LOVED it! Highly recommend.
