Review The French Bistrot - Brisbane

A A
The French Bistrot was a good experience. The service from the staff were great and they suggested good dishes. The location is good but the restaurant is too compact and not fancy for the price charged. Value for money is not good unless you book through “The Fork” with 50% off. -> Prawn and Calamari with cheese & Salad - The prawns and calamari were cooked perfectly but the cheese sauce was too salty. The salad felt a bit old. 2/5 -> Grill Pork with roasted potatoes & salad - Pork was unevenly cooked with 50% mid rare and 50% Medium (not sure how they did that). The salad again is same old (a bit soggy). Potato’s were delicious with nicely seasoned. 2/5 -> Chicken pesto pasta - The pasta was cooked perfectly and the pesto dressing was delicious. Chicken was unevenly cooked with some part of being soft and some were super Hard. The pasta was filled with oil. 3/5 Totally, it was a good experience.

Good value for money to experience French cuisine with 50% off if you book via The Fork. We were pleasantly surprised by the generous serving size of all the dishes. Not sure about how authentically French they are, but we enjoyed every dish we ordered. Would highly recommend the Asiette gourmande, prosciutto, prawn, scallops, butter and baguette for Entree. The beef tartare is definitely one to remember and something we just couldn't get enough of.The finely diced beef fillet mixed with onion, capers, pickles simply had all the right flavours in it. The frites were also just a nice side to compliment with the protein. The Southern France Prawn linguine is rich, creamy and filling. Service was also good, although they seemed understaffed at front of house.

Bought a discount voucher on Scoopon- $60 for two (one shared platter, two mains and two drinks) Overall it’s very well valued for what we paid for! Pros: food was delicious and full of flavour! Wine was delicious too! The bistro was busy and it’s got a good atmosphere for a Friday dinner. Staff were friendly too. Cons: shared platter came quickly but we waited for a long time for our mains. Waiter totally forgot we ordered the wine but was quick to fix the problem. We picked a bad/ sunk in the middle table. We almost tipped our glasses a few times. Mains were about $30-$40 (normal price). I think it’s a little pricy for an average/ small portion sized main. If you could get deals online otherwise I won’t pay the same to come back.

I got 50% off form TheFork. The service was excellent, I went early 45mins of my booking, they also help me to arrange the table for us. The barramundi filler was good, risotto is strong cheese favours. I also order the porterhouses steak medium rare... but when cut in half you can see is medium well-_- That why I can’t give 5 stars! The chicken with the mushroom is nice, but just warm, I think more hot is better. They’re cream brûlée’s is really yummy! Must try it^_^

Went here for dinner last night and absolutely loved this place! The mood was so sweet and romantic we were extremely looked after by the staff. The food was delicious: we got a share platter for entree, then mussels and the clam pasta for mains. Everything came out quickly and was delightful! I got the panacotta for dessert and despite it not being like listed on the menu, it still tasted incredible! Loved this place and will definitely be back in the future!

Fantastic food and good customer service. Staff are friendly but be prepared to pay some coin if you are taking and paying for your family unless they have a special deal on. Place is ideal though if you are a couple out on a date or just out for a pleasant meal. I highly recommend the pannacotta and strawberry ice cream. It was fantastic!!

The food was a hit and miss. Some things were flavoured well and some things could've been better. Favourite dish was the creme brulee. The service was fast, staff were friendly.

We were greeted by a friendly staff on arrival. The restaurant was nicely decorated and with an ambience. However, after sitting down no one came to serve. We ended up going to the staff area to ask for a menu. Even so, the staff were chatting and we waited for another few minutes before we were served. I ordered through The Fork and we were entitled for 50% discount. Yet when I mentioned it, the waitress said we get only 30% discount. I gave her my print out and she admitted she was wrong. Did she really not know? Only alcohols on the drinks menu! I asked if they had any soft drinks, and the staff said it's on another menu and went to get it. Then she returned apologizing they don't have a soft drinks menu, but they could serve soft drinks or juices. I never feel comfortable without seeing a price when ordering, so we didn't order any drinks in the end. The food arrived. My husband ordered beef tartare, which obviously was inverted out from a can to hold it in shape. It looks identical to the dog food we give to our doggy. Cold, and taste like that too. My husband had an upset stomach the whole night afterwards. I had the seafood soup - the most expensive dish on the menu. The mussels, calamari, and prawns were not fully cooked. The taste is just normal, tomato cream sauce that you can easily do it yourself. It came with 3 tiny toasts with shredded cheese and sauce and was the most edible amongst everything on the night. Finally I went to pay. The same waitress who took my discount code print out asked me for the code again. I told her she took it already. There were only 3 tables at the time. She suffers from a memory lost. I waited for a long time at the register because the EFTPOS machine didn't work. She called out her manager to have a look. Then it was a long instruction, taking their time as if I wasn't there. We were in a rush for our next appointment. I tried to be patient in the beginning, but lost my patient after 5 minutes and they were still talking to themselves. I had to tell them we were in a rush, and offered to pay in cash. The manager still insist to wait, but I took out my cash and the other staff returned with the change. The manager didn't apologize for the wait when we left. She didn't even have any eye contact with us at all. It was my husband's birthday dinner, and I regret choosing this restaurant.
