Review Mama Ferrari's - Brisbane

Ollie
I really like Mama Ferrari's for four reasons. 1) the pizzas are authentic and delicious 2) they are BYO with no corkage costs 3) they are within walking distance of my house - no designated driver! 4) the cannoli is literally made by an Italian grandma. I'm also a massive fan of the low key, hole in the wall style restaurant. Okay I guess that's 5 reasons.

We just keep coming back! The bases are just right and the toppings are yummy and generous. Great, out of the way atmosphere, wonderful service (and no corkage charge). We drive past plenty of pizza places on our drive from Tarragindi but it's worth it.

Incredibly disappointed in our order. Ordered through Uber Eats, took over 90 minutes before they picked it up. Pizza was bland, doughy, under cooked and all around average. Garlic bread pizza was half a pizza - literally a basic pizza with cheese where we were given half... tried to call to see where order was and phone would not connect. Will not be going back here at all. They only got the one star, because google doesn’t let you leave none.

I have visited Mama Ferrari's a couple of times. I have several complaints. First, the pizzas are overpriced. For instance, for the price of one pizza from Mama Ferrari's, you can buy two pizzas from Dominoes or Pizza Hut. Second, the pizzas are said to be gourmet and delicious, but they taste disgusting. Third, I know from former staff members that the owners do not pay their staff on time. For instance, one former staff member was not paid for three months, another was not paid for six months. Even after the staff members left, they were still waiting several months for their salary. By visiting Mama Ferrari's, you are indirectly encouraging the exploitation of workers in the hospitality industry. Not only that, but you are also contributing to the loss of workers' rights. I recommend that you do not visit Mama Ferrari's. So if you want a pizza, go to Dominoes or Pizza Hut or another gourmet pizza restaurant.

After an ill-fated, ill-executed attempt to break into the brunch scene they have now moved back to their intimate, cosy gourmet pizza dinner setting. A sure-fire fantastic idea , were the establishment being operated by ordinary people. The owners, however, are not nice people. Their latest faux pas was publically and aggressively denying my family service - choosing to hold onto old grievances in stead of moving forward in a civil, community-spitrited fashion. I cannot recommend attending this restaurant. They simply do not have an attitude I can endorse in a small community-oriented shopfront.

Sooo disappointed at this experience. Order not taken properly, and poor quality pizza... thin, dry, lack of amount of toppings. Disappointed also by lack of positive customer service and when I left feedback, I got feedback that was nasty. Won’t be back!

Ok. Good pizza, but not the cheapest. Didn’t have menus!!! We were told to look it up on the net. Charged us for an extra pizza (my fault for not questioning cost) although the guy did read back my order and I swear it wasn’t on there when he did. There’s breakfast tomorrow!

Great pizzas, nice little area to sit down. We've been happy every time we've been there.

Only had takeaway pizzas but sadly we were abit disappointed. Base was not great & size was quite small. Wouldn't write off this place yet - would like to go in as it does look lovely in the pics so we will try again.

Lovely little pizzeria! Consistently delicious pizza and warm, efficient service. We feel very lucky to have a place with such a great vibe just around the corner. It’s BYO, reasonably priced and plenty of space for the kids to run around.
best pizza in brisbane by far, my favourite the mamas special, cool vibe outside with the new lights, good coffee too will definitely be back, would also recommend the juice bar they have on weekends

Best pizza, service and experience ever! Couldn’t recommend these guys enough. Very friendly staff, and the food is unreal. You won’t regret!

Koh Penang pizza is unique and a favourite of ours.
Good location with no traffic, great for kids and families.
Take away times are inconsistent. Dine-in is great and BYO.
Gelato is always nice, sometimes just pop in for one - but I wish they had coffee.

Pretty tasty... definitely better than the usual suspects of take away pizza. We are the pizza special with meatballs - meatballs way too big for the pizza practically speaking but tasted good, so was enjoyable. Would order from here again. Good addition to UberEATS

Ok first the positives, the pizzas were amazing, we settled on the Mamas Special and the Pesto Chicken and both we full of flavour and very tasty....the service i received in store was friendly, efficient and should be commended....without the young guy who took my order and kept the staff out the back motivated i may not have gotten our pizzas.
The negatives, because it was Origin night and we wanted to get ahead of any possible rush so got organised and rang to order our pizzas the day before to be ready by 7 yesterday Wednesday.....
I arrived at the store at 7 to be told that there was no order and nothing could be found written anywhere...i placed the order then and there and thanks to the guy behind the counter got the pizzas in my hands within 15-20 minutes...
The only other possible negative from the experience was that the pizzas are a little on the pricey side but honestly I'm happy paying a little more for better quality anyway a d these pizzas were that.
Maybe next time we'll try the dine in experience as it looked like a nice atmosphere around the front of the store at the tables there.

Beautiful little local pizza place, nice difference from the usual pizza places. Looks family run and nicely tucked away in the local neighbourhood. Relatively expensive but nice pizzas especially because it's a small local place that looks to be doing well.

We've been here a good few months ago and enjoyed our pizzas, when a mid week pizza urge came over us we decided for a change to the usual local favourite and head back to Mama Ferrari. We shared a small Roma pizza bread and Nonna pizza. Both were excellent. Really tasty ingredients and perfectly cooked. The staff were friendly and it was nice to sit outside and enjoy our food.
Loved our food and will without doubt return.

50 min wait for pizza. Ordered pizza over the phone, told 30mins. Waited at shop for 20mins. Busy life and kids at home I don't have time to be wasted. Won't be going again.. Food average.

Great neighborhood pizza place. Staff are always very friendly, very welcoming to families. pizzas are consistent and they have good gluten free bases.
MrSpock
Good pizzas, great option instead of the chain pizza shops. Fresh and good range

Amazing! Very impressed!. This little gem is right around the corner from where I live - and what a find!
We went here on the weekend to check it out, and were definitely not disappointed.
The pizza was fantastic, they have awesome gluten free bases, the service was exceptional and my friends reported that the garlic bruschetta was the best garlic bread they had ever had!! Its also BYO (anything!) which is great. Our friends brought their little daughter along (2 years old) and she even got her own little pink cup and plate - which was very cute!

Pays to make a booking on the weekend as they can get really busy, a testiment to their fab food. You can't go past this if you want to have an awesome pizza but not venture into the city to get it. Like!!

Loved it. Happy to find this quaint pizzashop close to home. BYO makes it for a cheap and delicious evening. pizza is delicious and is most definitely child friendly. we will definitely come back

I found that the pizzas were a bit pricey, the tomato sauce was on the sweet side, and the red onion in the pizza overpowered the actual pizza type I ordered (meat). Although, the kids enjoyed the margherita pizza (sans cherry tomatoes). Probably won't be going back as there are other mom & pop pizza joints better and way cheaper than this one near by.

Great night; great pizza!. In this quaint little spot in Morningside, Mama Ferrari's is gem in Italian cuisine. If you are expecting a Michelin star restaurant, you are coming to this fantastic place with the wrong expectations.

No white linen. No wine menu. No snooty waiters.

In fact, the reason this place is fantastic is because of it's unique dining experience. You can either take-away or bring your own wine and sit in provided tables and enjoy the stars while devouring great pizza.

All pizzas are prepared at the time of ordering with the freshest of ingredients. My personal favourite is the Diavolo with the fiery flavors but other great choices are ilsalmone and the pesto polo.

Prices reflect quality, gourmet pizzas and while more expensive that your generic domino rubbish, they are certainly cheaper that Crust and, honestly, served with a bigger smile by people truly passionate about great food.

So, want some great pizza? Want a unique dining experience? Bring some mates, grab some wine and drive yourself down to Morningside NOW! Mama Ferrari's - you can't lose!
Chris
Nice pizzas but expensive. I feel pizza capers do better pizzas with more range for a similar price.

Great pizza and good to see there are 3 vegetarian options as well as a child's size. We'll be back.

Seriously inconsistent food and service and when I questioned it with the manager/owner I got a rant from her. Definatly not going back.

Depends on the night. Mama Ferrari is a local restaurant for me. Some nights the pizza's are fantastic and some nights not so good. Sorry to say but this pizza shop lacks "consistency". Pizza prices are probably a little bit high.

Pizzas have been disappointing the last few time, so lession is find another pizza place.
Got accused by owner for being rude, all I was doing is giving a far review.
Most of the photos are from years ago(2014)

Why is it saying it’s a new restaurant, it’s not
Been here for years, at least 9
Jason
Usually a good non chain-store pizza, this time they burnt my pizza. We called them up to give some feedback, only to be met with excuses about suppliers....
Pizza fail......
Service fail.....

Really?. A couple of things.

Firstly: great pizzas. I mean, really great. Probably one of the tastiest gourmet pizza joints around. Super fresh ingredients, good size and reasonably priced menu.

The problem?

They never open. I called two Friday nights in a row. Got nothing but silence. I even drove down there thinking they may have been really busy. Nope. The entire restaurant was blacked out. ON A FRIDAY NIGHT IN BRISBANE!!! And even though they advertise home delivery on their take out menu, most of the time they won't do it because they're always understaffed. Another thing I found odd, is that the staff are unable to comprehend how to process a credit card over the phone. In fact, one girl I asked wasn't even sure if they accepted credit card payment.

VERDICT: Great pizzas when they actually bother to open. But don't expect very good service. At least regarding home delivery. It may be better dining in. That of course is assuming they're open to begin with.

Great pizza

Perfect every time. Eastsides best pizza place. Worth a visit :)

Never open?. I live right around the corner and I've attempted to grab either lunch or dinner there about 4 times. It's just never open.

Great little Pizzeria. Easily the best in Brisbane. Friendly and a great little find.
Natasha
Fantastic Pizza!. We ordered the Molte Carne and the Giardino Pizzas and they were absolutely perfect. Have tried many pizza places around Brisbane and this is by far the best we've ever had. I highly recommend this place. A bit off the beaten track but so worth it!

Delicious!!! Recently changed owners & was a little worried but completely unnecessary. The traditional baguette garlic bread is to die. Love the pollo pesto & nonas
