Review Cantinho - Brisbane

I ordered (takeaway) toasted bagel and a side of chips. The Bagel was done immediately and sat there going COLD and finally after waiting an additional 12 minutes the chips were ready. Not the first time I’ve been disappointed. The staff are lovely. Just a shame they can’t get the timing right.

Great coffee! Friendly service with a smile!! And awesome freshly-made baklava! Most worthy of my patronage … will definitely return :D

Great food! Had a nice breakfast with my friends there, and chose the cantinho special brekkie! Very well served, and so tasty. Staff was smiling and friendly with us, but also noted they really know their customers, which was also a plus in my opinion.

such a stunning hidden cafe!!! instant melbourne alley vibes!!! so hidden it took us 10 mins to find it ahaha~ included some photos of the outside alley leading to it to hopefully guide people who try to find it~ it’s somewhere around zimmerman!! staff here are so friendly and helpful! asked the lady at the counter today for recommendations for food and she was too nice🥺 ordered the Pastachino??... i hope i spelt that right, reminded me of a lasagne but the top layer was so fluffy with cheese!! almost like mash potato in a way but so much yummier!! and instead of pasta sheets it’s actually noodles of pasta!! so so so yum!! got a side of chips with it~ a bit pricey for a smallish portion but as a small portion eater it was perfect for me haha~! ordered a ice chocolate as well~ pretty good! the main highlight was the decor, location and atmosphere of the cafe, so relaxing, shady and leafy!!! absolutelyyyy beautiful!!! definitely will be back!!! thank you ladies at the cafe today (10th May, 2021) you were all so friendly and nice!!!

Possibly the most friendliest service, and some of the most delicious food. Came for breakfast (Cantinho Brekky).. Then came for the Lamb Soulva the next day 😍 (when I only meant to come for their baklava lol). Love the passion here in their food, and how all the sweets are homemade. It just makes the experience even better 😊

Really hidden away off the James St carpark behind Camilla. Delicious wraps - probably one of the best about, selling the usual overrated hipster ‘fonzie abbott’ rubbish coffee. Owner is very polite and fast, lady behind the counter is always a bit slower and less than pleasant. Overall great food and location.

Food and coffee were fine but they would not supply us with water as some sort of covid precaution? This was for a sit-down meal with food and coffee. Other cafes we had been to in Brisbane CBD provided water.

We had breakfast here every morning during our stay in Brisbane! Nice atmosphere, great coffee and reasonable prices (açaí bowl was a little bit too big though 😂)

2nd stop. Always a pleasure, will be back.

#kikoscale 8/10
#food #foodie #brisbanefoodie #brisbanefood @cantinhocafe
@entertainment_au #entertainmentbook_brisbane #eggs #eggsbenedict #breakfast #brisbanecafes #jamesstreet @zomatobne .
👁 8/10 nice clean plate and two ready to run all over-my-plate eggs.
.
🗣8/10 easy going staff, I was let down by lipstick on the cup... 99% sure it wasn’t mine. Did I just kiss a stranger?
.
🧠 9/10 the bacon was a real hit combined with the double egg Benny. Thick cut, just like it should be. Fresh bread always wins over benny served on toasted muffins.
.
💰 $18 full price or 50% off with the entertainment card. .
🏞 James street is always a pleasure. Concrete jungle overrun with wild greenery.

My girlfriend and I were looking for an afternoon coffee date within walking distance. Stumbled across this cafe. The storefront presents very well with adequate seating and Fonzie Abbott beans. Unfortunately, upon arriving at 2:35pm we were told that they were closing. This was disappointing because it is advertised as an open till 3:30pm cafe. However, the staff were very polite about it (unlike other places) and even offered us takeaway coffees.

Went here for breakfast this morning, ordered the Eggs Benedict and Breakfast Special (poached eggs, bacon and tomato). The serving size of the Eggs Benedict was underwhelming but the flavours were good. The small cafe had a good amount of outdoor tables too in the little side street and the service was quick.

We had breakfast at this cafe. It’s located in an arcade on James St. The ambience was great, quiet and subtle music was playing. The staff were welcoming and attentive. We had soy cap, LF cap and two smashed avocados and corn. The smashed avocado looked a bit small but it was rich and tasty. It came with a slice of French sourdough, haloumi, spinach leaves, two eggs and semi grilled cherry tomatoes. The eggs were poached very well, the right thickness, not too runny. Only downside was the spinach leaves, not fresh enough.
They serve Fonzie Abbott coffee which was nice. The barista did a good job at making the coffees.

This rating is based on the coffee alone, and if i try some of the food i will update.

I had a double shot short macchiato yesterday and it was really smooth and gave me the nice instant buzz that i needed. They serve the Fonzie Abbot beans, which i am now a fan of!

Re-visit this café which located just adjacent to the Gerald Bistro neat James Street. Arrived five minutes too early so have to walked around for its start of the day. Needless to say, I was the first customer of the day and those croissant sitting on the bench tempted me to point at them to go with my flat white. Coffee was well presented with good enough strength while the croissant was good with spongy layers to go with the jam and butter. Sounds to be a good start to have a satisfied light brekkie for the day... Cheers :)

Solid option for light breakfast options and great coffee! A breakfast burger hit the spot this morning however perfect Fonzie Abbott coffee is what these guys are reliable for.

The coffee is always very good, the service is always good, staff are very pleasant and friendly. Food is fresh, breakfast is great. Nothing is too much trouble. I go here all the time, and I think it is fabulous.

I ordered the Avo and corn smash with truffle spinach tomato halloumi and eggs on sourdough and a coffee. Couldn't taste any truffle, the spinach was fresh but just a few dry leaves on the side. Eggs were hard despite being asked how I liked them and I requested soft. Houllomi was squeaky. Coffee was very bitter and possibly burnt. Very uninspiring.

What a breakfast this was. I came here to try the Portuguese tarts but I haven't had baklava since Istanbul over a year ago and therefore when I saw homemade baklava couldn't resist. Both pastries were worth it but the coffee was disappointing for me, a bit too bitter and not so easy to drink.

Being Brazilian I appreciated this place straight away since cantinho is a Brazilian word meaning Corner. I was happy the staff knew what it meant. Coffee was nice but everything was very overpriced!!!

Coffee is decent. Food is usually good but overpriced. It's about $10 for a bacon and egg roll alone. Sure, it comes on a brioche bun but I don't think that justifies the price.

At the James Street Markets, they had stall offering various types of meat on the spit. Instead of lamb that just melts in your mouth, we were left with tough and chewy meat that had been under-cooked. They seemed to be trying to churn it out, instead of giving it the hours it needs on the spit.

OK , so I may have been waiting for Gerard's Bistro to open, but I was happy to kill time at the lovely Cantinho in the James St dining precinct (and directly opposite Gerard's). The coffee was great and their selection of sandwiches, bagels and pastries was enormous! I settled for a delicious poppy seed bagel and cream cheese (yeah yeah call me boring) and coffee. Super delicious, lovely staff and reasonably priced. The dining area can be a little cold at times, but rug up, it's worth it. Highly recommend.

Stumbled upon this place and so glad that I did. The service was great, the staff were nice and welcoming. Love the coffee and the Portuguese custard tart!
