Review Lok Fok - Brisbane

Steve Devs
This place is the hidden gem of Sunnybank. Excellent value for money and never fails to impress. We try to frequent this place once a week. It's well worth the 35 minutes drive. Compliments to the chef!!!!!!

Nice little casual place offering a good range of dishes, kept it simple with the calamari for entree and the special fried rice as mains, both were of good standard The only minor gripe is that the decor is well overdue for a facelift.

Had trouble finishing it.. I got the stir fry beef with hofen. It tastes super salty and slightly burnt. Amount was decent but the cost wasn't the cheapest in the area.

Generous servings and quite tasty too! The prices are among the cheapest in Sunnybank. Overall, very good value for money.

Great food, affordable prices. Though some staff members can be quite rude, general service was still good. Seafood combination chow mien is one of the best menu selections. It's under a new management I think but no chance of the menu. Roast pork with rice menu has appeared in less portion as oppose to the previous ones.

Very generous serves and a highly reasonable price. Food was amazing! We celebrated our anniversary and it was a great place to go to do so. Definitely was not disappointed. The girl who served us was friendly and helpful and we were impressed with her ability to remember our entire order. We definitely plan to return!

Enjoyed their eggplant stewed with minced pork dish. The stewed brisket was delicious as well. Hainese chicken rice was good too. Tender chicken cooked perfectly fine. Overall a very satisfying dinner with complimentary hot Chinese tea as well. Nice pleasing ambience and friendly staff.

Delicious char kway teow. Family friendly.

Rated 4.5. Went here on a quiet weekend night with the parents to try out the famous roasted duck (as recommended by Joe K - thanks).
We ordered half a roasted duck (crispy skin, not too much residual fat, succulent meat), a plate of roasted pork (crispy, not too dry and not too salty), kai lan sauteed with garlic (generous serve) and steamed rice. There was also a complimentary side dish of pickled veges.
Friendly service (mainly from one particular female server) and efficient. Reasonable prices. Casual ambience.
Overall, very good roasted duck!

I ordered the beef brisket and chicken fried rice. Very Good quality food, generous servings at a good price. Definitely a place to go with the family.

Phuong Tran and I decide on some HK Roast Meats for dinner. Lok Fok offers good food, generous servings at reasonable prices, ticking all the boxes! We arrive at 5.45pm to a near empty restaurant. Great! We place our order then help ourselves to complimentary tea and sauces.

* Roast Duck (half) is fresh, meaty and juicy with crispy skin. Nicely seasoned, this dish is very satisfying and rates a perfect 5!

*Roast Pork is tender and a tad dry, leftovers from the lunch service rating a 3.5!

* Kai Lan and Oyster Sauce is beautifully presented and a large serve. Perfect and rates a 5!

An enjoyable meal for $43. We will return next month. Thank you guys!

i have been there several times. i lovee this place ! price is affordable and the the portion is seriously big. Sometime i can’t finish the whole dish😫 I love their cabbage kimchi, so yum!! I always ask for extra kimchi haahaaa . I haven’t gotten any chance to try all the dishes in menu yet, but i would like to recommend the Hainanese chicken rice 😌🤤

I can’t help but award Lok Fok 5 * as we always have good service and food experience every time we stop by! The roast duck is just so scrumptious and irresistible. Keep it up, Lok Fok! We thoroughly enjoy our visits so far. 😊

I cannot help comparing any Asian food I eat in Australia with the food I ate growing up in Singapore and a lot of the time the food doesn’t compare. The roast duck dry noodles at Lok Fok are of the same standards as my favourite duck noodles in Singapore. The skin is crispy and the duck is not too salty or oily like some of the other roast duck I have tried in Brisbane. My partner and I are regulars here. We haven’t tried any of the other food because we can’t resist the roast duck. I haven’t personally had much trouble with the service like some of the other reviewers have although I have received roast duck noodles soup instead of dry a couple of times. This was promptly rectified.

Worst experience in Sunnybank ever! The owner is very rude. She asked everyone to get out with trolley even people who doesn't have a car to put their heavy grocery. Cheap food cheap taste. Never come again!

This casual restaurant is located in the Sunny Park Shopping Centre at Sunnybank. We've been here a couple of times now because we really like their Cantonese style roast/BBQ meats and the other dishes. The portions are generous, the food is excellent, the service is friendly and the prices are extremely reasonable.

Delicious roast meats with good daily deals for lunch items. Environment is not the best but the food is very tasty. Hor fun is one of the best in Brisbane with great taste and large portion!

Decided to try this place out and upon arriving at the entrance which reminded me of those small honk Kong, i was so excited about the food that was to come. However my excitement ended there. I ordered the chicken rice because the inner Singaporean in me craves for it, but their rendition of this dish was lackluster. Rice lacked flavour, chicken was dry and even the chilli was disappointing. My friend ordered this fried noodle dish that was actually pretty good, and it had this wok hei taste. Will probably stick to ordering the noodles if I am here again.

Have eaten here a couple of times before and both experiences were OK. Today however, was totally different - after ordering the fried chicken and rice lunch special I get back to work to find I've been given what I can only assume is stewed pork that in my opinion is inedible. The amount of gristle/tendon/whatever in the meat meant I pretty much got to pick at some vege and rice.
Horrible

We are regulars at Lok Fok. We dine there several times a month.
The food is great, but if you're in a hurry, DON'T GO THERE.
They have new management and wait staff but for the last several times we went there, somehow THEY GOT OUR ORDERS WRONG OR FORGOT OUR ORDERS ALTOGETHER.
Examples:
We asked for chicken instead of duck. They're gave us duck.
We asked for rice noodles, they gave us egg noodles.
One of the meals arrived, and the other two meals didn't arrive until the first meal was almost finished.
Or two meals arrived, and the third didn't arrive until the first two were finished.
The worse incident was when THEY FORGOT OUR ENTIRE TABLE'S ORDERS.
We waited for 30 minutes, then asked why diners who arrived after us had their meals, but we didn't?
The wait stuff panicked. Got into a big discussion, then realized the order wasn't put through. And instead of rushing our order, they made us wait another 20 minutes!
It completely ruined our dining experience!
We've seen other diners like us, also waiting and waiting for their orders - easy meals like chicken or duck with rice, or noodle soup. At yet they got so many things wrong.
Please, Lok Fok - get your act together. We like your food, but we can't go back until you sort yourselves out.

My latest review is all about Lok Fok's service. Food is good which is a relief. The last 4 visits there since Desmond sold off the business to the new people has been interesting. All 4 times our orders have been mixed up with the other tables. Also the last 2 times, they forgot one of our orders. We decided to stay away for awhile while they hopefully train their staff again. We even asked the waitress to repeat our orders and they were correct but somewhere between the orders being relayed to the cooks and coming out of the kitchen is where the breakdown in communication occurs.
Reanna
Terrible. Service was slow, think they forgot our order as asked 10mins later and they looked confused, another 10mins later and received order only to drive 15 mins home and realise they didn't even give us the complete order (missing spring rolls). What a waste of time and money!

There is a good amount of food selection. To me, as a Chinese, I felt that the food was pretty good and seemed authentic. I recommend trying this place! Their service was ok, the ambience is simple but comfortable (there is a lot of red going on though).
There is free flow of tea, water, chilli sauces (self-service), and a free bowl of soup to accompany your meal (no refills though).

Dish recommendation: the Mapo tofu is a great dish that has a slight ma-la (Sichuan spice) twang to it which really ties the dish together.

Just amazing, go here if you want to experience authentic Chinese...quiet staff, simple setup but you get plenty of great food....go for the Peking Duck - you deserve it!

When going to Sunnypark, one cannot miss the very strongly Chinese themed Lok Fok, which catches the eye with its super strong red exterior. Having noticed it for a while, one evening when mother decided she did not want to cook dinner, we headed there for a meal. Tea was complementary, and cutlery was provided on the table. However the first thing I noted was that the pvc tablecloth was quite sticky, which was rather concerning. The cup was also a bit stained on the outside.

Not impressed. All the other stores were packed so we went here to eat since it was not busy but now i know why.
The food is average but the waitresses are very rude. They forgot our order and didn't say sorry. As a person who is addicted to pearl milk tea, I must say it was the worst drink yet. Too sweet and not even cold. Where is the ice?? Not comming back.

Crispy roast duck. Gave this place a try, had the mix roast with rice with longan ice blend. drink was boring. mix roast was tasty and the duck skin was nice and crispy. something was wrong with the rice itself though, very soggy tasted it like it was left in lukewarm water and splotched on my plate. i thought it was pretty dear considering the location appearing to be quick up and go casual authentic restaurant

Food has always been pretty ok. Recent change of ownership. Lack of service from staff and provided us with unwashed plates.

The Indonesian dishes here are better than the Chinese dishes. Beef rendang have strong Indonesian spices taste, need at least 3 ppl to finish $6 bowl (+ extra rice). Although their daily specials are very good value for money, portion and taste, the best tasting ones are the a la carte meals. Indonesian fried chicken that in my opinion may be better than KFC in terms of taste and crunchiness. Indonesian grilled chicken has a peculiar grilled taste and traditional herbs, salty fish fried rice wasexcellent, sambal was superb. The wonton noodle soup was disappointing, noodle was tasty but the 8 pieces of wontons were tough, although it has whole prawn each.Waitresses need more confidence and training, the atmosphere of the restaurant was pretty messy. That's why many people chose to eat at the back instead of inside the restaurant. But I will definitely come back again for the Info dishes.

3 treasure means you need 4. The BBQ meats are good and portions plenty
Never had their chefs specials
Smells good every time I go but always the BBq meats tempted. My taste buds Away

Marissa. Must agree with previous comments, the food is ok but the staff are so busy on their smartphones they have no time at all for the customers. Have been there 5 times now and almost always the same staff on and not once have they even acknowledged that we are repeat customers.

Went yesterday for lunch 27/10/12 and every wait staff were on their phones the whole time we were there and it was an inconvenience to tear themselves away, not only that but two of them were so busy pretend fighting and acting like children that I am amazed the owners said nothing but we guess it is all family. The same guy waiter then took his shirt off and laid his sweaty shirt on a table and was running around in his vest, this is all in front of customers. That sweaty shirt is on a table that the next customer will be eating off of!!!!..

Terrible, there are many great Chnese restaurants in Sunnybank and this could be one of them but let down very very badly by unprofessional young wait staff. By the way the young female wait staff were not much better.

Will never go back. To many better places to go.

Lok is Genuine affordable and very good.. I have NEVER been disappointed at Lok Fok. I do not understand what the negativity is all about from the other reviewers. I can say that whatever you can find in the Sunnybank area, which serves the kind of food as Lok Fok, you will find it here in ample quantities and very good value and excellently prepared. I know they have changed hands recently, but it is still fine, with no downside effects. This is a cafe style, casual eating place with a calm and more than pleasant atmosphere. I'd rather come here than to just about ANY of the other BUSY BUSY LOUD LOUD " get-them-in and get-them-out" places in Sunnybank, which is just about 99% of them out there. Everything on the menu here is fresh and tasty and very very well presented. I have eaten this kind of food all over the World and find that this place is right up there in the top 5%. I have dinner and lunch there regularly an also bring my family and friends who also have never been disappointed there. The staff have never been anything but polite and efficient, I'd say even friendly. The cook/chef is just fantastic.
Give this place a fair go, all you whingers and complainers. Try the kind of dishes here that you will also get elswhere and you will know what a great place this is! 4.5 Stars from me.
Otto Mun Yi

There was a fair turn over of tables on the night we went as well as one large group of jolly twenty somethings but there was no rush to move us on and it was never the mad house you see in similar places. The dishes arrived in a staggered fashion and we had to enquire about our salad but we weren't in any hurry and could hardly complain given the price - under $50 for 3 dishes including corkage (cash only). Fok Lok Sunny Park Shopping Centre 19A 342 McCullough St Sunnybank Qld 4109 Visited: Friday 5th July - Dinner Service Glamorous Wok A week later, we were eating out on the same block. We has seen Glamorous Wok on our prior visit but it was jam packed so we moved on. This time we were organised and had a booking for our group of six. This place is hugely popular as it is billed as an authentic Taiwanese rather than Chinese restaurant so the ex-pats were there in droves. On the Friday night of our visit, there were many large family groups enjoying the start of the weekend, f

Final stop at Sunny Park was at Lok Fok Chinese for some Stir-fried beef with Ho Fun noodles, that had a great smokey flavour from the wok.

Lok Fok is a nice addition to the other Sunnybank eateries but it doesn't offer much in the way of uniqueness. Food is overall pretty good and cheap and it's served quickly (always a bonus). Having said that, most Sunnybank eateries meet those requirements so I'm not sure if it's worth bypassing Market Square.
