Amazing food, the mee goreng chicken is authentic and delicious. It's a small space but the staff were very kind and flexible with fitting our table of 8. Will definitely be coming back!
I really enjoyed my takeaway seafood Mee Goreng. Jun Japanese and Malaysian Cuisine are a gem and provided a tasty dish with good proportion. Thank you! :)
Until I read the review from Xellesia Newton then I understand why such new fusion of Japanese + Malaysian cuisine serving on the menu. I meant to explore this restaurant for a while but it only trades dinner from Thursday to Sunday so a little bit hard to arrange the time. Eventually, we arranged the dinner at this eatery last night. Honestly, the dinning area is not that big and there are only four tables (accommodate max 12 people) inside and more tables setting at the al fresco area. We ordered the oyster furai and yakitori to taste the Japanese cuisine for entrees and Ipoh Chicken Ho Fun and Seafood Mee Goreng for the Mains. In addition, I liked to try the Malaysian coffee as well. The fried oysters were not the best that I had but taste was good (3.5/5). Yakitori saved marks due to the juicy meat from chicken thigh and yummy sauce (4/5). Mee Goreng recalled me the episode that I had in Bali with very generous portion and good size of king prawns (4/5). Hero should be the Ho Fun, the running Egg was prepared spot-on, not too watery and not too thick. Ho Fun was full of “Wok Qi”, thumb-up👍(4.5/5). Before I left, the chef did give me a good reason of why trading for four nights only. It is because he needs to do catering in the morning. What a successful business!
The chef, Don, is culinarily trained in Japanese food, but his heritage is Malaysian, and with it comes cooking that can only be learned at your mother's knee.
The Malaysian side of the menu speaks with the heart, and is impeccably designed to give those that have moved from their motherland, just a moment to transport themselves to their childhood in that first mouthful.
My son favours the Japanese cuisine over the Malaysian, and it's one of the only restaurants we go where everyone is winning.
After countless visits, I still ask myself why I don't return more often.
Do not pass go before ordering the Ipoh Hor Fun and the Tauhu Goreng, then keep coming back to try everything else on the menu.
Great food, friendly cook, casual ambience. Ample parking with easy to find location. Highly recommend the Japanese Fried Rice & Salt & Pepper Squid.
Great dishes, have them about once to twice per month usually, they only open four days a week and dinner only though.
Might take a while to have the dishes get to your table, BUT there is only one chef, the owner. Worth a wait though, quality guarantee think about this way lol
Usually takes them 10-15 mins to have your order to get to you, but the longest time I have ever waited was 45 minutes... and that was a busy day...
So, if you don't want to wait that long, call them to have your order placed before you go, or just takeaway.
The owner would get out the kitchen and say hello to the guest when he gets time lol and usually they will serve you free desert, not always though.
So, overall, with this kind of food and service plus the fair low price they charged, this is definitely a go for everyone.
PS. They can make almost everything spicy, they even have grading from 1-10, my friend from Malaysia who loves spicy food can only take 4... so be careful about what you order lol
The Devourer Of Food
+4.5
Their normal menu is nothing special. You see, like all Asian shops (rumour has it) that there is a special menu. Well, there is ... it is call going to KL bukit bintang. Know your stuff there and call them 2 days prior to showing up. Trust me, I'm fat and I know my grade A chilli crab from just plain chilli crab.
BEST Mee goreng in Brissie!!! They guys are awesome at catering for vegetarians. Ask and they will create a vego version of most dishes.
Best Malaysian Food Ever in Brisbane. I have been there several times, love the food and Don the chef makes the food as you requested. I recommend to all this restaurant. We live a bit far from his restaurant, but it's worth it I go every week once. Great Food.
Great food we will return again and again. Coeliacs note to ask if they do their deep frying in clean GF oil before ordering dishes like sweet and sour chicken which are available in a GF batter! Yum.
This is by fare my favoritt restaurant in its class. Always great food
Great Food and Value. Went here and had the best meals, all very reasonable on price. Nothing fancy as far as decor but absolutely brilliant delicious food. I will be back.
AMAZING!. I live in Browns Plains and I travel down here even if its just for take-away. Every time I have eaten at this lovely restaurant it has been amazing! I highly recommend this place. Most places that serve "Asian" food normally have really greasy and very bland food, but, the food here is great.
I have been eating here for around 5 years and will continue to until they are no longer open.... Which I hope is not for a very long time!!!
Favourite Malaysian Restaurant!. I have been a patron of Jun's since they were located in Taringa. Sadly, they relocated a litte too far for me and I can only visit when my time allows it.
Don cooks the most authentic malaysian cuisine I have tasted in Brisbane. Having spent a few years in Singapore, his food always reminded me of the food in Singapore. Do try his green tea ice cream too! It's homemade.
His nasi goreng, tahu goreng, char kway teow and ipoh hor fun are my favourites!
I know there have been some slow services, so I always go just when they're opening up or call in for takeaways in advance. It's so much better that way.
Was a bit skeptical at first, but turned out to be a great place. I would say the Malaysia menu would be the best. Nasi goreng was pretty spicy, so of you can't handle hot food you must tell them. Good food, service and nice enough atmosphere. Also get free dessert!
Very nice food. Food was great, very nice and authentic flavours. The service was super nice and friendly. The dining room is simple, just basic tables and chair, but they made an effort to put nice piccies on the wall. We'll definitely come back.
Awesome food. Awesome Salt and pepper squid. The staff just set up a new facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jun-Japanese-Malaysian-Cuisine/107725289336009
Do visit and like! :)

Amazing restaurant. Best chili crab in Brisbane by a long way!!!! Note you have to call the day before so Jun can go and buy the crabs for you. The salt and pepper calamari was also amazing. Service great.
