It's not called the Cove anymore but it's the position that draws us here. Readily accessible by bike or foot, zero roads or traffic noise, just the view over the lawn and the river. Wish there were more places in Brisbane taking the advantage of the outdoors.

I was walking through Southbank on a Saturday evening a week ago with my wife and two kids thinking I'd have no luck getting in anywhere for dinner when an end table right on the promenade came available as we walked past. I immediately claimed the empty seats and we were served promptly and courteously by the staff who were very accommodating to some specific dietary requests from my wife and eldest child (who has a couple of food intolerance's).
We were all very happy with the food and service, so much so that I have booked two Christmas functions in for December. It was only when I went to look up the telephone number I saw the recent bad reviews, and thought in fairness I should balance this out by sharing my experience.
It'll be interesting to see how the two group bookings go in December!

We made a dinner reservation at the Cove Bar and Dining for Friday evening for 7 of us. Then my hubby found all kinds of reviews, all bad. Though worried we decided to go anyway. Glad we went as we were very impressed with everything from our lovely server who was very attentive to the wonderful, tasty food and the cheery ambiance that was the Cove. They seem to have paid attention to all the negative publicity and tried to rectify things. Give them another try. It was affordable, warm on a cool evening and a lovely spot to see the city.

The new breakfast menu, sourced from sustainable producers and growers, is a nice change. The breakfast menu is not overly large, but has the varieties you would expect for the breakfast punters. The prices aren't horrible when you consider the great location overlooking the river and the good portion size.

Comic book guy "worst restaurant ever"
We ordered 4 Pad Thais. 2 were ok. The other 2 had only 3 prawns, no sauce, noodles were not cooked, no tofu, no sprouts. It was really half cooked noodles with 3 small prawns on top. $33 please. What an insult. There excuse was that the chef only had 1 arm!
The beer: 1 pot was $9.50.
Don't recommend.

The worst place to be. We ordered our meals & waited for 50 minutes & even the starters didn't arrive. No one even had courtesy to tell dat it'll take time. When my husband went to inquire the person at the counter had an audacity to tell, "R u the chef" We were starving already & it was 9:40 pm. We left without even a single apology. Horrible staff, zero customer service, menu is overpriced.

Stopped for a quiet drink, went to the bar but was told to sit and wait for service. Waited long enough that we were about to leave when we were finally offered a drink. When they arrived the girl pored a bottled beer into a glass and over filled it so the froth went everywhere. Without saying anything she left the beer in front of us and walked off. Shocking service for an overpriced bar.

I'm sorry but easily the worst place i have ever eaten at. I wish i could give it zero stars as one star is too much. The food is appalling, my group was served canapés and they were disgusting and would compare it to dog food. Beautiful view to look at whilst eating it but would prefer if someone who could actually serve human food would take over
