Review Dannyboys - Brisbane

Orla
We have just had the most amazingly tasty sandwiches. The bread was so fresh, the variety and choice on the menu was exceptional. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We are visiting from Melbourne and wish we had a DannyBoys near us! Highly recommend, keep up the great workšŸ‘

Iā€™ve been going here since 2011 and itā€™s only gotten better. You canā€™t beat fresh quality bread and a great range of sandwiches and treats. My go to is a sandwich (usually a Hero or Big Ken) then a bowl of the broccoli cheddar. This is my place I use to celebrate or reward myself . I recommend everyone try them, itā€™s a sandwich like no other!

Mixed thoughts. Not worth the $15 and 30min wait. Lots of bread and not much else. But it was very fresh.

Went there with a lot of hope but turned out to be very much subpar. 2 stars are for the fries. The sandwiches were just bread and no seasoning. The chai latte was the worst iā€™ve ever had. The wait was okay. There is almost no seating downstairs and the upstairs has a creepy unhygienic vibe to it. Itā€™s a šŸ‘Ž from us.

This sandwich shop is like no other in Brisbane. I've tried many of their sandwiches and they have all been delicious and so are their soups! They are cheap for what you get!

Slow at making food and not worth the price by a long shot. I won't be going here again. People need to upgrade their standards and stop being impressed by a level of food service that would never have been tolerated before Ubereats and other type apps.

Insane. The value for money and taste is unbeatable. Really filling, tasty sandwiches. I enjoy treating myself by going here during exam block.

Canā€™t believe I havenā€™t tried this place earlier! This was a really nice surprise. Ingredients were fresh, and well thought out sandwiches. I will definitely be back!

Artisan sandwiches

This cool sandwich bar has a great menu which has something to please everyone - you can also choose between short (6 inches), long (11 inches) or lettuce (for the carbophobics like me). My husband and I shared a long Halfbrick (chicken, bacon, tomato, lettuce & avocado) sandwich, and a cup of broccoli cheddar soup for lunch. The bread was chewy and had an artisan feel about it, and the fillings were really good quality. The broccoli cheddar soup was terrific. We thought that the prices were very reasonable and the staff were really friendly.

After explored one of the cafes in Newmarket, I felt like to another coffee to top up my caffeine so turned my steering heading to QUT. Due to the fact that there is a market day in the campus so the main street was blocked and I have to follow the detour sign that led me to this eatery. It seemed to be the only place available for a take-away coffee on the street so gave it a go. Given the fact that this eatery is not focussing on serving coffee; therefore, I can let go about the weak strength of my flat white but tell myself not to repeat such a silly decision next time.Ā
Rating 3.5/5Ā

Dec 15, 2017Ā
I meant to explore the Dil Campo Espresso this morning but o changed my mind to visit this store because I parked just right at the front door. Walked in and remembered that they serve soup so have a change to order a bowl of their signature DannyBoys Chili Beef Soup. Discovered that they provide extra dining area upstairs so walked up to enjoy my brekkie. Wow, the wall painting is funky and full of energetic vibe even though it is not a big area. Uncovered the lid of the bowl, I saw the thickened soup with dashes of cream at the centre. Take a bit of the French baguette and dipped in the soup. Bingo! A well balanced taste! However, I must warn you that it would be slightly salty if you only have the soup by itself. Overall, the ingredients of minced beef, beans and tomatoes are generous in portion. What a good option for brekkie! Like!

We parked outside and popped in to buy a bottle of water on this sweltering day. Instead of coming out with only water, and a brownie, we discovered another wonderful HEALTHY stop option. So refreshing to hear how proud they are of their all hand/homemadeĀ foods. We WILL be back!
FOODIE ADVENTURE
Of course l got the beef brisket flatgrill and of course l wasn't disappointed. It was amazing. So much flavour. Came with pickles and coleslaw and l loved everything about it. The service was great too. Very friendly.

Best sandwiches Iā€™ve ever had. Angry Iā€™m not in Briss longer to eat here more. The menu is so big and the food so delicious wish I had a chance to try the soups.
The Food Guy
Fantastic food at the Brendale one! , pitty i cant review it as its not on zomato yet!
Chilli beef was great and a massive loaf of bread with it.
Great value for money.

Me and my manā€™s new favourite place! Disappointed we didnā€™t try them sooner! The sandwiches and soups are both delicious and filling.
We get a family feast and have a sandwich and some soup each for dinner with a sandwich and some soup each left for lunch the next day! The food is both fresh and filling.

American style sandwiches, love love love! Would recommend the corned beef sandwich and the pumpkin soup!

I canā€™t believe Subway operates in the same area with these guys when they are so much better. For amazing fresh sandwiches and awesome soups look no further!

Danny BAES. Love this place normally, always get the broccoli soup. HOWEVER this time is was salty aF, felt like I was eating the ocean or something. Smh

This is a really cool place to grab a quick bite to eat. Plenty of sandwich varieties to choose from and the soups on the menu are a great addition.
I tried the broccoli cheese soup and it was delicious, with every spoonful of soup you could see the stretchy gooey cheese strands. The broccoli flavour also managed to shine through.
I also ordered a gourmet sandwich. Although it was delicious, and I am a firm believer in simple is better, I did think the fillings were lacking. If dannyboys served the same sandwich as the picture on their menus I believe it would be a winner hands down.
VAULTGIRL
Great for a quickly made lunch on the go (but there is a nice place to sit upstairs!). I had the Phat and it was simple but great. The bread really makes the meal. Would recommend!

Biggest...sandwich....ever
Danny Boy's is awesome, if you're in KG Urban Village, hungry and looking for something to takeaway and eat in the park - come here! Their soups are really good; which is random because I would never in a million years opt for soup.

Tried the Cuban last night, it is the king of all sandwiches and easily could be shared between two. Photo doesn't do it justice, go get one and skip dinner.
Michael Steentjes
Great range of sandwiches! Fast friendly service!
The sandwich that I had was amazingly tasty and super fresh!
I think this will be a regular!
Ang Berry
Everything is always fresh and tasty. It's like if Subway actually tasted good. The KG classic is my favourite. Broccoli soup is to die for. You won't regret trying their sandwiches.
FoodieLustAu
Ahmazingness in one place!
Ordered via UberEATS our ANZAC day brunch and have zero regrets! We had the big porky rolls and asked for the onion to be cooked and it was all done to perfection! Possibly the best breaky roll we have had our of our own kitchen and we are both in a super happy content full stomach place. Keen to try everything else over time and wow that bread!
RJ
I love that they do a sandwich wrapped in lettuce, perfect gluten friendly option. These guys do theee bessst bacon, it's worth paying extra for if it isn't already on the sandwich you order. Sandwich fillings are generous and fresh. I really enjoy the pumpkin and garlic soup too, I just order it without croutons. Still yum!
Peruvian Palate
The bread is what makes these rolls so good. You can tell they are freshly baked using high grade ingredients. Their soups are homemade and a fantastic addition to the meal. I ordered via UberEATS and the soup was still hot with the croutons on a separate bag and I got a free baguette on the side too!
Meatballs And Beef Cheeks
I kept hearing about DannyBoys whenever I lamented the lack of good sandwiches/subs in Brisbane, so had to try it out...it did not disappoint. The long DannyBoy Baby Bird (Turkey and Cheese with lettuce and mayo) was very good. Ā The French style baguette really made this sandwich. Ā My wife tried the cupcakes and wasn't overly impressed, but my rating is based on the sub itself.
Rebecca Layt
Awesome place if you're looking for a quiet spot for lunch. The sandwiches are pretty good, filling as hell.. Totally enough to get you through the day, or in my case thru all nighters. Always super friendly. I only wish that they would put prices on items in the cupboard.

P.S the cupcakes are the bomb!
Zachary Houston
The best sandwiches in town. Love the bread and broccoli and cheddar soup is the bomb. DON'T EAT SANDWICHES ANY WHERE ELSE! It's like subway, but actually fresh.
Whatsnext
I really wanted to love this place. The hype got me hyped. However, to put it nicely, I found the sandwiches to be a little too subtle in flavour for my liking. Having said that, there's two saving graces if you will, the bread is fabulous, and the soup is very tasty, I regretted not getting a larger serving. Kudos for being the competition for subway though.

As a recent local Danny Boys has definitely become one of our favourite places to grab a bite. Staff are always friendly and the sandwiches are fantastic. My favourite would be the Halfbrick but every one we have tried has been brilliant. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Without a doubt best sandwich bar in KG!! Great sandwich combinations with the tastiest crunchy bread. This place has great friendly service and a mint atmosphere. Great work guys!!

Good customer service great sandwiches. 10/10 would eat again

Good customer service great sandwiches. 10/10 would eat again
Good customer service great sandwiches. 10/10 would eat again

Have been eating Danny Boys for a few years now. I gladly drive from Bowen Hills to Kelvin Grove for lunch on a regular basis. Sometimes on weekends I will drive there from the south side of Brisbane for lunch.
Bread is lovely and fresh. All of their sauces are delicious and are second to none.
Normally alternate between the DannyBoy hero and the roast. Pickles they use on the roast are awesome.
Several of my colleagues enjoy the half brick.
I only will go to Subway if DannyBoys are closed and even then I have menu envy.

I went to QUT for 5 years...and I didn't try Danny Boys until my 5th year of University - what in the world was I thinking? Their baguette bread is a highlight and is what sets it apart from Subway, in my opinion. I personally like the hard texture of it and the salads encased inside it are fresh. I always enjoy the basic baguettes as well as the Italian Stallion one. It is more expensive than Subway, but there is so much more flavour to their sandwiches.Ā Their cupcakes are also nicely made - I would recommend trying one as well.

It was always good having something to look forward to after a mundane day at university...Actually, it may have been one of the only few pleasant things at university.

I had paid work at the Queensland University of Technology's Kelvin Grove campus some years back, and for all that time not coming off campus to try here, I am kicking myself for not thinking of it. DannyBoys was more or less right on the fringe of the campus, and its popularity also helps. A darling in its little village, it has that feeling of a neighbourhood favourite and the distinct aesthetic for people to come many neighbourhoods over from hearsay.

What has been odd is that with the constant popup of American-style restaurants and eateries, it still has neglected some of the bigger parts of their basic cuisine. One of these is delicatessen sandwiches, complete with the long rolls and the anything goes attitude of the place. Hearsay is that some Americans in town have been homesick until coming here, that is saying something.

For all that is worth, and for the level of hype and popularity across the review sites just prepare for it not to be purely ostentatious. The service is basic at best, though it is proficient and efficient. Simply place your order, then wait until the name is called and either walk out or eat in (yes, the sandwiches are wrapped in paper). It is also not a very big place, but it does have an upstairs area that has a loft-like aesthetic.

However, you can't say it is devoid of character. Across the wall upstairs is a blackboard, and many guests from all this time have scribbled their name among other things a bit like graffiti. Speaking of graffiti, maybe the PC term needs to be used - "street art". Some neat murals of street art are there, and it is quite entertaining. The seating is not too far removed from food court style, and a small bench is on the lower level if you are feeling a bit lazier. The look of it feels natural, and that they want to carve a character out of it.

At Dannyboys, the sole focus of its menu is on freshly made sandwiches. And this is fresh in close to the most literal sense of the word. The bread is baked from scratch right on the premises, from a very basic recipe of merely five ingredients. Roast meats are cooked in-house, the mayonnaise is the owner's own recipe (done with whole eggs) and, if hazard a guess, vegetable are gotten fresh everyday. Quality makes a mile of difference.

Each order for a sandwich is done fresh and done to order, and there is an extensive range available and with different modes - a simple basic, the gourmet "Rock Star" variety which will probably catch the attention the most and the gourmet signature, which are takes on some classic American sandwich orders. They are all given names and can be ordered long or short, or down with lettuce for low-carb diets. Lastly, special, limited edition sandwiches (and soups) come up every so often adding on some more excitement.

As well as that, breakfast is available to go here in the form of some rolls. To go with the sandwich at any time is coffee, and they have a few soups to match as well. Sweets are also on the menu, with home-made cupcakes. This is simple, stripped down to a definite focus and they do it really well. It has held up as an institution for several years and still counting. Heck, it is so popular they already have prearranged packages for catering.

Coincidentally, my dining buddy had wanted to go here as well and it had been on the "must" list for the longest time. Often being lumped in with the "best of" in American cuisine (both of us love American cuisine of all sorts), it was more or less a matter of time. Finally, one day a trek was made here and the end result was something else. Finally, got this off the list and I am glad that I ended up here - even as not that much of a sandwich fan, I find myself highly recommending this place.

The sandwich that I ordered was the "St. Louis". This was a combination of sliced turkey breast which was pre-smoked, and leg ham, with cheddar cheese, sliced tomato, red onion, banana peppers and lettuce with the sauce being a combination of a dijion vinaigrette and the specialty thousand island dressing. I got the long version of this sucker.

I can easily see why people are so infatuated with the sandwiches at this place. The amount of ingredients that they put is in generous; both meats alone are nearly a half-inch of slices put on the bread, the balance of ingredients is all good, and I enjoyed the flavour combination of Dijon mustard (hard to describe, just its own thing) and the vinegar from the dressing mixed with the peppers mild spice. It was fresh with the vegetables and colourful - they were lively and not wilted, and the cheese finished it all off. One of these could do a good lunch, and many university students must praise the grounds that Dannyboys sits on - budget friendly as well.

My dining buddy got the specialty bahn mi - being a huge fan bahn mi and all that - which was some slow cooked pork in a marinade of red wine, garlic, honey and soy sauce, then carrot, cucumber, red onion, coriander and soy mayonnaise with lettuce. Trying a bit of this, they did not do a bad job at all recreating this Vietnamese classic. A little less rich, and the bread was not as crusty as I was used to with bahn mi, but it gets a B for effort. Much to the gripe of him, no pate.

On the side for only a couple of dollars extra, for any sandwich there was the chance to add on a cup of soup. You can bet your sweet bippy that I did this. The soup that I got was a corn chowder. Each soup comes with a bit of bread, which with the sandwich might have been a bit overkill but as its own snack - particularly in larger sizes - is fantastic for dipping. This corn chowder was thick, hot and soothing - a combination of celery, corn, carrot and onion gives it a balanced texture and it was topped off with a pinch of croutons. Simply.... delicious. What more could be needed to advertise a good chowder?

For the soup with my dining buddy, he opted for the chili beef. It definitely had a kick, but not too much of one. This was one serious recipe, where kidney beans, tomatoes and onions were stewed overtime with the minced beef before having bacon, chili, lime juice, oregano, garlic, sour cream and cheese added to it before a finish of shallots. A taste of it showed the love going in. The beef was good, it had a complex taste and it would suit well on its own.

For the second course, I went for coffee and cake. I was not leaving here, and neither was my dining buddy, without getting one of their cupcakes. Usually there is a variety, but it was all one today. A sort of mocha flavour that was not on the menu. With that, I had a doppio. From memory, the doppio was fine - but nothing I can remember too vividly. However, the cupcake was awesome. This was one that needed a fork to eat it, it was so rich and moist. The chocolate flavour was so intense, and it possibly had a better coffee flavour than the coffee itself - a wonderful finish off was the chocolate-coated coffee bean on top.

DannyBoy's was great - nothing else to say that has not been said here or anywhere else. If this is an indication of what the sandwiches are like the United States then I am looking forward to going over there in the future.

Have never had a bad experience, in fact, every time I go I leave happier. These really are rockstar sandwiches, and the staff are rock stars too! Everyone in there is super friendly, and the atmosphere upstairs is awesome.
Monica Sottile
I come here almost every day I'm at uni. The food is good and affordable. The bread is always fresh and delicious and the soups are great. They have such a wide range of sandwiches and wraps and I've not tried the desserts they sell but they look great.
Tyrone Biggums
This is probably the single best place I've ever eaten. The hero sandwich is incredible and both the pumpkin and broccoli soups will make you want to kill your own mother to get more.
Danny Boys sandwiches are always perfect, great ratios of ingredients and really fair pricing. We have used Danny Boys catering at work and they had something for everyone and were very happy to make any changes for dietary or allergy reasons. Simple yet awesome sandwiches in a great location :)

Dannyboys has reinvented the sandwich and it is absolutely fantastic! Their breakfast rolls are amazing, soup and bread is mouthwatering, sandwiches unbelievably tasty and the lettuce wraps are quite frankly genius!! I've been known to have breakfast and lunch at Dannyboys and the icing on the cake is not only the gorgeous cupcakes but also the little chocolate freckle you get with your coffee.Ā The highlight of my workday :)
Jase Twoplate
Best sandwiches and soup in Brisbane by far!!!! I have been going to Danny Boys for a fair while and I have never had a bad experience. The only downside, it's way too hard to decide between the Corn Chowder and the Broccoli and Cheddar Soup.
Rachel Self
Best sandwiches you will ever eat, delicious soups and the most amazing cupcake varieties. Do yourself a favour and stop here for lunch. And breakfast
Margie Riley
Great, friendly service. Scrumptious sandwiches/rolls etc, and cupcakes (banoffee cupcakes, I kid you not) and coffee to die for. Once, when all cupcakes sold out (nooooooooooo) tasted their 'Puppy Chow', also scrummy. Love that bread is all homemade. Oh yes, and great soups too.

There is always a line out the door of Danny boys! I thought it was about time I gave it a go and I am kicking myself for not going sooner. I had a bowl of the chilli which came with a warm baguette. The chilli wasn't extra spicy but had lots of beans so was very filling and good value for money! My friend had one of the lettuce leaf wraps which was fresh and tasty!
Brooke Innes
THE BEST SOUPS EVER!! Brocolli Cheddar is to die for and they always give you bread with the soup complimentary so it's always filling. Better yet prices are fairly cheap too
Hangry
The best sandwiches and soup!. The most scrumptious bread, tasty sandwiches and soups! All the ingredients are really fresh and tasty. The staff are also always super friendly. They do delicous breakfast rolls aswell! My go-to uni snack is the chilli beef soup, its only $4.5 and comes with a side of bread.
Bettie_boop21
The Place. Dannyboy's soups & sandwiches never fail to satisfy. Probably my favourite sandwich bar on campus, and the prices are even better. There really is a sandwich for everyone here, & there's such a light, feel-good vibe in the shop. Love the sandwich stickers and chalk writing all over the walls. Staff is super friendly & the place is always clean. I eat here at least once a week & it never disappoints. Broccoli & cheddar soup is a must-try.
M_oriely
Awesome. The sandwiches are simply Devine and the soup and coffee are beautiful. I would eat there for breakfast and lunch daily if I could. The service is 2nd to none the friendly staff make the visit worthwhile. And the bread is to die for I would travel across the city to dine there it is simply 1st class
Katherine
Delicious!!. Love this place - the delicious sandwiches are made on the nicest bread, the soups are tasty, and the staff are always super friendly. Would highly recommend trying the roast or vego sandwiches... The breakfast options are awesome too!

In simple words. Best sandwiches in Brisbane.
Katherinelangdon
The best there is. Best sandwiches in the world and their soup is to die for!

Awesome. I had the turkey sub and it was sooo good. Everything was finely chopped & the bread is awesome. Really adorable for the quality. Highly recommend!

Phenomenal! . I probably go here every time I'm at uni! Can't beat it, it's unreal! I even stuffed up my order and got something different and was still amazing. The dannyboy halfbrick is my favourite!
Facebook User
Best sandwiches in brisbane!!. These guys make amazing subs and sandwiches with quality ingredients. The bread is always fresh, doey and yum. Next time you want subway, think again and head to dannyboys!!
La_coraz
Best sandwiches ever!!!. Can't rave about this place enough - everything I've ever had here is delicious, from sandwiches to soups! They're also super friendly and very accommodating to my slightly odd requests like 'no extra mayo' on the tasty tuna or 'no croutons' in the soup.
BK
Dannyboys is legit!!. Easily the best sandwhiches in Brisbane. I've been coming here since they opened and I can guarantee you will not be dissapointed.

With their soup and amazing cupcakes too, DB for the all round win!
Brendan Isaac
Best sandwiches in Brisbane! What subways aspires to be! Much check it out! Wish they were open a bit later!
Naomii Sinclair
Sooo good! Glad we found this on urban spoon. Delicious, clean food with friendly helpful staff. Will definately be back!
Capt Hotsauce
These are the sandwiches my mouth dreams about!. This place is quickly becoming a regular pilgrimage of happiness for me. I have tried 5 sandwiches, 2 soups and I'm intending on tearing through the rest of the menu with my face and mouth in the near future! The giardiniera on the Muffuletta i tired last weekend was so good it changed me. It might seem insane that a sandwich joint has a rating in the high 90's but they have earned and deserve ever percent of it. 10 out of 10 would eat again!
Chad.butterworth93
Life changer. I first came to danny boys years ago. It changed my life. I can now see new colours and my iq has increased all due to the deliciousness of these amazing sandwiches. If i had friends, i would take them here. 10/10
Jamakinmehungry
Trust what they say.. We really aren't exaggerating when we say DannyBoys is amazing, fresh, filling and,OH SO DELICIOUS! DannyBoys sandwiches are a masterpiece, crafted for an explosion of flavours in your mouth, married together with their signature bread so delicately soft yet chewy, perfectly textured, even better with their soups (omg their soups). Of course if thats too much carbs for you, a lettuce wrap is an option (but I mean try the bread at least once!). Atmosphere is unique nonetheless, not to mention, staff are friendly so if you're overwhelmed by the menu like i was, take their recommendations. Seriously. You won't regret it. Ok maybe I've gotten your hopes up but I've gotten to Joey status (Friends reference) on this little gem.

P.s. I didn't include a photo cause I chowed it down immediately
Bon
Subway just doesn't compare. I'm not sure how the nearby subway isn't out of business by now, with this place right up the street. The bread is outstanding...
Andrew
Great place for a quite bite. I eat here on a weekly basis and can't fault it - the menu is diverse, the sandwiches, lettuce wraps and soups are all amazing and the service is friendly and fast. Love it!
Lu.joyi
Best sandwich in town!. From the delicious home made bread to the packed stuffing, Danny Boy is a must try sandwich bar in Brisbane!
Princess_maca_01
Amazing sandwiches!. The bread is amazing and The Classic is probably the best sandwich I have ever had.
Reg2
Awesome soups. Nothing better on a cold day than a delicious bowl of steaming creamy pumpkin soup and some fresh made bread.

Highly recommended :-)
Matt__way
My lunch spot. Pretty much the best place near kelvin grove to get lunch. I mean who else does soup?
Ruby
Best lunch at KG. Long time lover, first time commenter. The service, atmosphere, price and especially the food are all perfectly considered at DannyBoys. There is no better place for a high value lunch at Kelvin Grove.
B_162
Super yummy. I've walked past this place many times and one day finally tried their food. I had the Brocolli soup, considering it was a cold day. One mouthful and I was hooked. Served with a crusty piece of house baked bread, it was comforting and warming. I've also managed to try a few of their sandwiches, the Half Brick being a favourite of mine. There's a lot of choice on the menu and worth the trip up/down the hill just for lunch at this place.
Marcus Foth
Awesome sandwiches. You will never wanna go to Subway ever again. Ask for Buffalo sauce!!
Jpohara
Ahhhh yer - That hit the spot!. I kept on seeing great reviews of DannyBoys and thought to myself, while in the area, why not give it a go. Far out!!! I'm addicted and cant wait to go back and get my fix of their great sandwiches and soups. Not only is the food great but so is their service and shop fit out. "Do yourself a favour" and get down there for a feed.
Cristina_margaret87
Do yourself a favor - eat here. EAT HERE A LOT.. Since moving to Australia in 2011 my husband has been on a never ending mission to find legit American style food in Australia! Food (besides family of course!) is the one thing he constantly complains about missing from the home of the free and land of the brave. So far that mission has been... "okay". There is no shortage of food joints around run by Aussies who think spending their gap year travelling Route 66 gives them the qualifications to serve "all American cuisine". But take that first bite and soon you'll see, Old Glory hanging in the window isn't fooling anyone! So my husband's never ending mission lead us today to DannyBoys Sandwich Bar at Kelvin Grove. I have a sneaking suspicion that there must be an American behind the brain child that is Dannyboys because the twinkle in my husband's eyes, the soft moans of pleasure, the way he ever so gently held that sandwich like a new born baby... I'm devastated. I will soon be signing up for an internet dating profile because I'm pretty sure he's gonna leave me for a Dannyboys sub. Bravo Dannyboys! You have won life.
Sjheffernan92
Addicted. Dannyboys subs are so delicious! I like that the bread is always fresh, and I am never disappointed by what I get. The staff are always friendly and the place has an overall good vibe about it. I like the $10 deal as I can get the pumpkin soup and a sub. However, I wish they would have a special on my favourite sub the ā€˜Dannyboy spicyā€™. Overall good place to grab a bite :)
Tigsmulii
Thank you. Woot!! The thick cut turkey is back! I completely gobbled my sandwich this morning, it was so delicious.

-----21 May, 2014-----

Thumbs up. My favourite sandwich shop. The freshly baked bread is delicious and their chili is excellent. I do wish they would bring back the thick cut turkey though, it really made the breakfast sandwiches something special.

My favourite place when I come to UNi. Nothing else compares. The porky breakky roll is simply amazing! Love it!

Kerin. The four of us loved this so much , we all had something different , and all tasted each one! I think I said it was amazing to the owners , we talked about it all the way down to the gold coast. We vowed to come back until we have tried everything we had sandwiches and also tried the soup , I am not a soup fan at all and nearly turned my nose up at a try, but I am now converted . GREAT FOOD GREAT PEOPLE!

Every Sandwich Shops Worst Nightmare. Dannyboys at KG is hand's down the best Sandwich shop in Brisbane! I haven't had such sandwich joy since I was a boy and my mother would yell as we played in the sprinklers on a sweltering summers eve to enjoy her world famous tinned spaghetti sandwiches. The happiness you experience whilst enjoying a fresh Dannyboys Sandwich can be compared only to the happiness when first watching The Lion King. The sandwiches innocent and awe inspiring nature are like fresh sheets out the drier on a winters night! The freshest ingredients since the casting of Fresh Prince of Bel Air make the sandwiches at Dannyboys superior to any of its competitors. Now if you aren't a Sandwich man/woman then have no fear, like a true sandwich legend Dannyboys offer world class soup that even Joel Mchale couldn't diss! What's that I hear you say... I don't eat carbs... well then I guess you can't have Dannyboys.... WRONG! They even cater to the health conscious with an original invention known as the Lettuce Wrap! Imagine all of the mystical joy, bliss and true happiness experienced when eating a Dannyboys Sandwich but wrapped in crisp fresh lettuce cup! Yes, it is as good as it sounds! All in all the sandwich experience at Dannyboys is like no other but on top of this the service is excellent as well, great friendly staff who truly embody the sandwich artist tag... unlike some chains who claims to have "sandwich artists". But Dannyboys understands that anyone can pick up a paint brush and claim to be a painter but only true Sandwich aficionados can possibly fathom the unique skill it is to be a Sandwich Picasso. Bravo Dannyboys, bravo.
Renee Fritz
DANNYBOYS = SANDWICH PARADISE
Dannyboys is seriously amazing I mean what even is this place called "subway" it doesn't even compare. The "Dannyboy" sandwich is hands down a winner! And the broccoli cheddar soup, holy goodness - I don't even like broccoli but it tastes like heaven!! If you love a good sandwich you HAVE to try Dannyboys Sandwich Bar!
Kathryn.capone
Soups Galore!. DannyBoys tomato soup will always have a special place in my heart. I just can't get enough!

A paradise of sandwiches. It is a rare occasion in a persons lifetime to experience a pleasure that transcends you from the physical world we feel everyday into the spiritual realm of unequal pleasure. I myself first had this experience at DannyBoys Sandwich Bar when I bit into my first ever Porky breakfast sandwich. Whenever I think about that first bite I can remember it all so vividly as if i relive it everyday, my mouth started to salivate as i breathed in the enchanting scent before i excitedly placed my tongue upon the freshly baked bread from that morning. It was the combination of perfectly baked fresh bread, crispy bacon rashes and beautifully cooked eggs that made me remember my first visit to DannyBoys Sandwich Bar. Now, every time I eat at DannyBoys Sandwich Bar and experience once again their amazing sandwiches and soups I experience the spiritual realm of unequal pleasure.

Dannyboys... welcome to sandwich paradise.. Hands down, best sandwiches in Brisbane!! So so good... If you're super health-concious like me or you love a good salad (or gluten intolerant), you have to try the lettuce wraps! They are essentially the most delicious salad you'll ever eat, on steroids. The bread, however, is equally amazing...so are the soups.... and the breakfast sandwiches.... and the coffee... so basically, everything. And they make everything there, from scratch, so its all super healthy and fresh! If you have yet to try the amazingness that is Dannyboys, there is a void in your life (and stomach) that only a long "Dannyboy" sandwich and a broccoli cheddar soup can fill.

Kelvin Grove Denizen reporting in.... I went to school in Kelvin Grove right across the road from Danny Boys for three years, and I must say that out of all my three years of schooling, Danny Boys was one of the best parts. Their breakfast sandwiches, especially The Porky, are to die for, and saved me many a morning from mid-school hunger. Their actual sandwiches are absolutely brilliant. One of my favourites was The Half Brick, which I really enjoyed quite a bit. Not to mention their bread...baked on site from the freshest ingredients, the bread was what really kept me coming back. I implore any Kelvin Grove student to come and have a feed at Danny Boys, they're certainly worth it.

Top Notch Sandwiches. Great ingredients, friendly service and amazing bread! This place is well worth a visit or twelve. You can even by the bread by the baguette for later on!
Yum Yum
Great food. Why would you ever go to Subway when you can go to DannyBoys?

Amazing bread (not the premix plus water at subway)
Fresh and quality ingrediants
Polite staff
(check out their cooking machinery as well, one looks like the dalek from Dr Who!!!!!)

Music can sometimes be a bit of a hit and miss but honestly that's just down to personal choice.

I haven't had their coffee but my partner keeps buying it so it must be alright.
I personally recommend their 'Danny boy' sandwich with extra pickles and the cauliflower and cheese soup. Remember that you get a bit of extra bread with the soup (new employees sometimes forget)!

All in all I love this place!
Mayday Boy

Best sandwich in Australia. Not sure if they are emulating something from Europe or the US, but wow, sandwiches steroids. Actually rolls. Strange location with small space, but well worth the drive, park and walk. The sandwiches make you want more and more...

Better than subway.

Best thing since sliced bread. Why would anyone EVER go to Subway in KG when they could come to Danny Boys and get something 10X fresher and tastier for only a couple of extra dollars? I was so happy to finish uni recently, but very sad to not be able to get my Danny Boys fix during the week anymore :(

Outstanding Coffee and best sandwiches in town!. I love my coffee here and considering the sandwiches are world class I still come here for the espresso. Lovely flavour and perfectly balanced.

Absolutely the finest sandwich bar around. Great service that is prompt at the busy lunchtime hour. The food is fresh and the bread baked to simplistic perfection.

I never thought a sandwich could taste this. Since being recommended by a friend I have become a Danny Boys regular. Driving 10mins each way in my 30 min lunch break up to 3 times a week to feed my DB addiction.

I've tried a few of the sandwiches and loved them all but I just can't go past the KJ Club. The bacon on this sandwich is the greatest bacon in the world!!! This is not an over statement! if you don't believe me - try it - you will not be disappointed.

I also need to mention is the corn chowder soup - OMG I am in love. I can't get a Danny Boys sandwich without also getting a bucket of corn chowder to take home for dinner.

If you want something fresh and healthy give DB's ago. They have a carb free option by wrapping all their sandwiches in lettuce - unfortunately I can't say no to their fresh bread its just too good.

The prices are very resonable -i get lunch for myself and dinner for two for $20. The service is friendly and efficent - what more can you ask for from a sandwich joint:)
