Meet Fil; purveyor of high quality plantation coffee and merchant of the finest Cuban cigars. On the corner of Merivale St and Fish Lane, Paladar is a bright splash of red in an otherwise beige stretch of road. Fil, the owner, is good at what he does and excellent company to match. His coffee is robust and strong; hot and punchy without being bitter. His little red cantina is as unique and quirky as Fil himself, and you'll do well to drop in and check it out sometime if you're in the area. You won't regret the experience. Note: Paladar Fumior Salon is cash only (the closest ATM would be in the IGA complex in nearby Melbourne St).

The very best coffee in brisbane. We have been buying our coffee from Fil at Paladar Fumior Salon for 8 years and we will never stop. Through 2 pregnancies, I drank the best hot chocolates at Fils, now my kids love them too. I rarely get a coffee from Paladar that is not the best coffee I have had and we drink his coffee every day in our home machine. Paladar is awesome. The end.

Drink, smoke and be merry. Feeling the need to be merry drives a man (generic term for both female and male)to seek solice in activities that allows him to feel like he has achieved something and yet nothing at the same time.

Coffee and Cigars is such an activity where entertainment is provided by those who participate. Such a place to tale tales of truth, intrigue and mostly crap for laughs.

I wish that this can be enjoyed late in the night and on weekends.

Paladar - South Brisbane. Walking between the Central Business District and West End the streches of road are usually very bland. Off the side a bit along one of the less main roads stands this small, yet distinct place stands out. For anyone wanting a quirky place to go to, some good coffee and charcter this deserves a try.

I have heard about the rooftop terrace and courtyard - but I got my order to go so I can only comment on the entrance part. The entrance area is small and very decorated with plenty of things to observe and look at, almost like a corner store would be like in Cuba.
On display are the various sweets and cigars you can have with or instead of a coffee.

The guy serving at the counter was not only friendly but also very polite. His attitude is enough incentive to return and makes you feel welcome.

My choice of coffee was a simple piccolo. It had a different taste to most coffee that I have tried and was very lovely. The temperature was hot and it went down very well.

All-round, this is one place I will drop into again and actually stay for my coffee and maybe a sweet as well.

Great things do come in small packages. From the moment you approach the front door to your first sip from the take-away-cup, it’s a caffeinated cornucopia of dark rich flavour. This charming little South Brisbane cafe is little more than a glorified shipping container in its size. Lovingly transformed into a character filled piece of Havanan Heaven, Palador has become a local icon in the Brisbane CBD and rightly so. The coffee is strong, rich and as flavour filled as its Cuban counterpart. Tucked up in Fish Lane and nestled between one of Brisbane’s few original Art Deco guest houses and a busy tyre shop it would be easily missed, please don’t! It’s a short walk from the Brisbane Convention Centre and less than one kilometre from West End. On a typically nice Brisbane day you can grab a cuppa and a cigar from the humidor (if you have such predilections) and sit outside in the tiny courtyard or on the roof and watch the traffic flow by with the backdrop of the Brisbane City skyline. I must preface this with the fact that I've only had coffee here, so I'm not qualified to make any statements about their cigars... I, however, did enjoy their latte, which was smooth, lightly aromatic, and not acidic at all.  At first sight, Paladar is a quaint unassuming shack off the main streets of South Brisbane, but it's quite the place inside!  Through the doors on the first floor are emblems of Che, and of course, the cigars.  Upstairs is a "rooftop" seating area with a couple of benches to enjoy coffees and cigars - and I put rooftop in quotes because it's like a loft and there's not much of a view, unfortunately.

The owner is very friendly and the cigar is great. It's a small shop, but it has very comfortable. Good for chatting up with friends. I will definitely back agin.

What a funky and unique coffee shop incorporating books, records, caffeine and great atmosphere in one! Absolutely adored the rooftop seating area and nice little view to watch the world pass by. Highly recommend the iced dirty chai latte. If you are looking for a quirky and relaxing place to start the day you should not look no further!

My new 1st choice for coffee in Southbank / South Brisbane. Great little venue in a one of a kind buildings. Owners work there and you won't find anyone more hospitable. From meetings to a quiet coffee, not to mention a great selection of books too! Sounds like there is more in the works too so definitely check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Excellent coffee, good vibe, friendly staff, cool design. What more could you want?Make sure you ask for a double ristretto base for a latte. So rich and roasty!

Nice little little spot to sit and enjoy a time out with a coffee and book. We'll worth a look over the book display at the counter.
