Review That Viet Place - Brisbane

Rebecca - Nailsunchained
I wish I had taken a picture of the food but we ate it too quickly! Delicious food, we had pork spring rolls, beef pho, dry style noodles and fried rice. The dry style noodles is the best, we have been looking for it for years, will definitely be back!!

One of the better Vietnamese places I’ve tried in Brisbane so far. Delicious fresh salad and delicious Pho. All the dishes going past looked amazing, the place itself isn’t fancy but I like the food - We will Definitely be back.

Best food ever, uncle and aunty know how to cook. Family run and full of flavour. Pho was great and dry style noodles was the best I've had.

If you are looking for delicious Vietnamese food at affordable prices, That Viet Place is the place to be! Their vermicelli salads are the perfect refreshing dish in hot summer. Whether it's lemongrass beef, grilled pork, grilled beef, the meat are always pan-fried to order and tasting amazing every time. The vegetables in the salad are always fresh, crispy, and just mix well with the fish sauce and the meat. I've tried a lot of vemiceleli salads in my life at various Vietnamese restaurants but That Viet Place's remains my favourite.

Vietnamese pancake, what a find. Not too many places serve this anymore. It is a simplified version and was ok... not outstanding but ok. My dining partners beef phó was tasty and very generous, the leftover pho was still delicious for lunch the next day. Fair prices and clean restaurant. The waiter was a bit stand offish, maybe having a bad night? I will be going back to try other meals.

If your a “la de da” kinda person...don’t come here, McDonald’s is close by...great food with a authentic feel. Most likely mum and dad in back cooking with basic English is always a great sign to me. Missing the iconic plastic stools and tables though haha! A MUST try is the coconut juice, to die for! Chilli beef noodles was huge and broth was on point. Rice paper rolls made to order which is nice. Service was great, even gave fresh free prawn crackers to my son...overall great experience...but this is my kind of thing...is it yours?

Fast, friendly service. We enjoyed our Lemongrass beef vermicelli noodle salads & spring rolls.

It has been two years since my last visit after a very ordinary Pho Dac Biet lunch. This time I get lucky. My takeaway Bun Bo Hue is delicious with a wonderful Beef/Pork broth heavily infused with lemon grass. Rating:4.5/5.0

I love coming here having seating outside, fresh air, never too busy plus service always great. I tried the Beef Pho here for the first time in which I wasn’t disappointed as well as having a new thing for Avocado Smoothies and this was great as well.

Took some friends here lastnight as we had a late night craving for some vietnamese. I don't usually venture over to the opposite side of Market square, because i am always tempted to eat there...but crossed the road and gave it a try!
Nice no frills venue, with friendly service, and good food! The Bun Bo Hue was good, and similar to most decent Viet places in Inala and Sunnybank. The chicken curry was tasty and had a little bit of spice in it, not spicy for me, but spicy for others at the table. (The non asians haha) Would definitely come back here again for another fresh Viet feed

Came here for lunch and had the lunch special (Pho + Rice paper rolls). It was good for a quick lunch but the soup didn't compare to a lot of other pho restaurants in the Sunnybank area. But at least the service was friendly

Have not been back for a long time and explored it again for a quick dinner last night. Surely, it is a new management since my last review at Dec. 2015. Service is attentive and friendly. Although my order of Crab & Pork Noodle Soup takes a little longer time to be prepared, I am really happy with the generous portion and importantly was the yummy taste with cheap price...….

Dec 22, 2015
Drove past the SunnyPark food precinct and suddenly recalled the episode to have my lunch at this restaurant. It was my curiosity of how this place survives with so many Vietnamese restaurants around that pushed me to try their meals. Ordered the Pork Chop Noodles and all of the sudden the waiter dropped a Spring Roll on my table and told me that it was "on the house" to thank for my patience waiting for the noodle, indeed, it did not take a long time to have my noodle ready. Honestly, the portion was quite large but the taste was average and the soup base was bland, however the passion from the staffs were much appreciated and I started to understand why they could survive under the terrible competitions among Sunnybank area.

First time dining here after my dad wanted to go. Last time I will ever visit after the horrendous service I received. My family came for the weekly family dinner (I usually work Thursday nights so this was the first time in a while to have the full family present), this time to celebrate my recent birthday. We ordered where I specifically asked for item 85, chicken rice vermicelli salad and my brother’s girlfriend asked for pork with rice (and the waitress repeats the order). Waitress comes out with what she calls “pork vermicelli salad” and we assume it must be my brother’s girlfriend’s order being misheard. She mentioned to the waitress that she ordered pork with rice and not the pork salad but the waitress says this was the correct order. So, she eats the food and accepts that she may have ordered incorrectly. However… the waitress later comes back with the written order and she realises that she has ordered the right dishes from the kitchen but said pork instead of chicken. My dad re-orders my dish thinking it won’t take that long. WRONG. Everybody else’s food comes out except mine and they start eating. And get this…. the pork with rice comes out. My dad sends it away. 15 minutes pass. My dad is bored and still hungry so he asks for the pork and chicken back (he dish was served before everyone else’s). We are wondering where my food is. We ask the waitress. She says it’s on the way. Another 40 minutes pass.

IT IS NEARLY ONE FULL HOUR UNTIL I AM SERVED MY SHOULD BE DELICIOUS BOWL OF CHICKEN AND RICE VERMICELLI SALAD. By this time, I am hungry and pissed off. My appetite has diminished and I only finish half of it. The restaurant charges us for the meal (gives no discounts), but gives us all sweet banana dessert (as an apology or does everyone get this? just read some reviews…).

To That Viet Place, I wouldn’t be writing this review if I didn’t have to wait an additional hour for my food. I am unimpressed that a) the waitress failed to check the dish and b) that it took 1 whole hour until I was served, after everyone else on my table was finished with their food!

Honestly…. I would be okay with the wrong order and this silly mistake if I didn’t need to wait an hour (even though…. who even does that?! doesn’t the chef tell you what the dish is before you serve it? Do you even check to make sure that you are delivering food to the right table?!). I am not an unreasonable asshole that doesn’t understand that hospitality is hard work and hungry customers can be the worst. What I cannot understand is how it took 1 whole hour for my food to finally be served. Wouldn’t you push a wrong order to the front of the queue or just not the last dish to be made so I wouldn’t be sitting around, watching my family eat around me, hungry and waiting for my food? This was such a dumb mistake, had the waitress checked the order and looked at the meat or even checked with the chef - this would never have been a problem! My tummy would be happy and plentiful with sweet marinated chicken and rice noodle!!! So yeah, 1/5 stars and I’d give a quarter star if possible based purely on bad service. (The food was actually OK but doesn’t distract from the immense anger I now harbour).
Madam Oriental Eating.
I had the pho. Congee and hainan chicken. The pho and congee were great. Hainan chicken was "meh" that was my own fault ordering a Chinese dish from a viet place.
Their customer service was exceptional. There food is quite good in terms of quality and quantity and price is reasonable.

I was craving the Banh Xeo (the Vietnamese pancake) and I saw that this place offered it on the menu. I was sceptical at first as the name of the place seemed cheesy but both my partner and I were pleasantly surprised. He had the Vermicelli salad bowl with Sate meat and in terms of quality, it was reasonable. The banh xeo was made fresh and still was crispy when it was served. At the end of the meal, we were both feeling like something a bit sweet and we were offered the complimentary sweet bean dessert which hit the spot.

Price wise, for 2 meals, 2 drinks and the complimentary dessert, we spent around $30 for 2 people. Reasonably priced for a reasonable meal.

Always great food and great service! I always enjoy trying new things on the menu and am yet to be disappointed. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a new place to try!

Excellent portions and even comes with free dessert! If you're hungry and looking for somewhere to eat in Sunnybank look no further - would highly recommend this place.

This is what we called authentic Vietnamese food outside Inala. The dishes we ordered were very good, fresh quality and the portions very big! The service was fantastic from the owners. The shop is tucked away but by word of mouth, I'm sure they will do well. We've now visited several times and will continue to visit. The prices are very reasonable (most around $10.50!) and is the perfect location for lunch or dinner.

We ordered the grilled pork dry noodles which is a favourite! The portion is huge and served with heaps of pork and vegetables. The chicken version of this is also very delicious but we prefer the pork! The special beef soup (pho) is so delicious! Its taste is so authentic to Vietnamese food and the broth is the best! The portion size of the pho is not as large, but definitely worth its price. We always order these two dishes every time we come to this restaurant.

Also, when visiting this restaurant when it is not very busy, they often provide a free dessert. Usually its a small bowl of taro dessert soup with jelly and red bean. Sometimes its a banana dessert. However, this is a great add-on on the house and is very delicious to finish the meal off.

Would highly recommend trying out That Viet Place for some really great Vietnamese food at a great price!

Absolutely delicious Pho bo and iced coffee was fantastic. Great value for money, big hearty bowl of the good stuff for a fraction of what you'd pay for a parma at a pub. Friendly staff and a nice location.

Pretty decent place. Out of all the restaurants in that strip outside Sunny Park, they seem to be the most popular.

The food is pretty good too, every time we're there, we're pretty happy with the food and portions. They give a complimentary dessert soup of green beans and sago which was nice and sweet.

The only downsides are that it is on the slightly expensive side with most dishes 10.50-13.50. Also there's not a lot of seating inside...chances are you'll get one outside and during Winter, it's pretty windy and cold if you aren't prepared. That's what stops me from coming back as often as I hate cold. They do have outdoor heaters but unless you sit close to it it's still rather chilly.

Parents room is right next door and if you sit outside you could fit a pram...there's adequate space on the patio kind of area for toddlers to have space to run around.

Best restaurant in sunnybank serving Vietnamese cuisine! Not only is the food arguably the best Vietnamese in Brisbane, the location trumps venturing across the road to market square where the parking situation is a nightmare. Not to mention that the food is worse across the road. Good food and friendly staff. They take credit card too!

That Viet Place is located on the side of the Sunny Park plaza and across the road from the always busy Market Square. They have a few long tables inside that were very tidy and organised as well as some spacious tables outside. It looks like a nice place to dine in but we ordered takeaway this time. The service was friendly and quick.

I had the beef pho and it was just what I was wanting, so delicious and of course very filling. My partner wasn't going to order anything but since it was a minimum $20 for eftpos he ordered the lemongrass beef salad.

Awesome Vietnamese food, everything here tastes good. The soups are yummy. Servings are very generous. The drink menu of home made lemonade erc is delicious. The staff are friendly & helpful. Family friendly place. Prices are great too. I totally recommend this place, give it 5 stars!

We have eaten many times at this restaurant in the last 12 months. Family owned restaurant with excellent chefs and wait staff. Free spring rolls with every meal. The Pho dishes are brilliant as is the brown rice and rice vermicelli dishes. Very reasonably priced. Spicy Beef Noodle Soup and Chicken Pho all $9.50 each. Very nice restaurant located across the road from market Square (Sunnypark side).

Well worth it !!

I go to this place quite often since they opened up in sunnybank. They also had a place in inala which I loved. The pho always taste nice and portions are big. The owners definitely know what service means. You can see how they coordinate themselves and you can see they are concerned about how the food and service is going. It may take time for them to get really busy as they are located in the area which actually had a lot of exposure but hard accessibility for what it should have. I hope these guys stick it out and become super busy.

This is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Brisbane. I've been to Saigon and Hanoi and this place does great Saigon style food. Its the most authentic and consistent Vietnamese food you can get in Brisbane. I've tried others in Market Square and they do alter their taste to suit the chinese customers. I've had almost everything on the menu and they all taste great and taste exactly what its meant to taste like. They do give a spring roll entree to every diner which i think is great. I always have a hot vietnamese coffee here and its always perfect. I highly recommend people that want to taste authentic vietnamese food to first eat here.

Delicious soup, hearty servings and lovely staff. What more could you want, oh low prices? They have those too. The standouts were the beef stew (delicious soft morsels of slow cooked beef) and the prawn spring rolls, we had 4 mains, an entree and drinks all in under $60. Service was fast and friendly, the ambience was better than most other restaurants in Sunnybank however there was little room for the staff who have to constantly buzz past the tables. Thumbs up!

We came back after having sampled this restaurant during the Sunnybank Food Trail.

The restaurant was very quiet for 8:30 on a weekday evening. We ordered the pho and spring rolls, and was pleasantly surprised to have deep fried wontons thrown in on the house.

Pho was average - nothing fabulous nor anything glaringly horrid to make it memorable. The spring rolls and wontons were quite dry - the filling needed just a bit more moisture.

Had dinner tonight here for the first time with friend. Had the special beef noodle soup and Chinese drink. Was pleasantly surprised by free spring rolls with every meal which was a lovely addition. Taste is reasonable and good. Price was okay too.

Not much on that menu but what I get in terms of beef noodle soup is good. My only gripe is that it needs more goo bits. It is called special for a reason.

Fresh and Tasty. A nice luncheon spot with a typical Vietnamese menu having fresh spring rolls, Vietnamese omelet, pho soup dishes and similar dishes (e.g. pork, beef, etc) served 'dry' with vermicelli. We tried the sugar cane prawn vermicelli salad and lemongrass beef vermicelli salad. Each dish had lots of fresh herbs and a tasty dipping type sauce to add to the dish if required. The dishes were served in large bowls and generously proportioned for a reasonable cost of $11.50 and $9.50 respectively. Vietnamese hot and iced coffee and teas (many styles) were also available as well as a range of soft drinks. Staff were friendly and attentive so overall a worthwhile restaurant that we'll visit again for lunch and/or dinner.

Friendly staff and a great budget price!. We had our work break up lunch there last week, we were all so happy with our meals, service and size of meals. I ordered a meal and a drink and had change from $15!! With about 15 of us, we sat outside at the long bench style tables. The staff were friendly, and efficient. We had preordered our meals that morning, so once we all arrived, our meals came out with no delay. I enjoyed it so much I'm organising a Girls Christmas lunch for this week. Can't wait to go back!

Average. Went on a Friday night. It took about half an hour for our two dishes to arrive. Food was average. My lemongrass pork was tasty, but it was a bit too burnt on the outside for my liking (had to physically remove the little bits of black stuff). In my opinion, there are better places for Vietnamese cuisine.

Anyone who has gone to Sunnybank lately will notice a large assortment of new restaurants opening on a previously unused side of SunnyPark Shopping Centre. One recent addition to that area is That Viet Place. That Viet Place has a portion of outdoor seating, and a portion of indoor seating. As an indoors person, there was no question I would choose to sit inside. The menu consists of two pages. We found it rather amusing to find that Udon was an option in a Vietnamese Restaurant. Other than that, the usual pho, bun and broken rice etc were offered. Each table had an assortment of sauces, the waiter was kind enough to come around after we had ordered to explain the different types of sauces and which dishes they accompany. My usual at any Vietnamese restaurant is always Pho. As mentioned in my post on Fat Noodle , I judge whether a pho is good based upon its soup, noodles and beef. As you can see, the soup was rather oily, and a bit lacking in flavour, not unsimilar to Fat Noodle actually. The noodles itself were fresh and smooth. The beef was a bit overcooked in my opinion, but that's just a personal preference. This is the Special Beef Noodle. It has the same soup base, and the same noodles, but with additional beef tripe, tendons and beef balls. The Broken Rice, on the other hand, was quite nice. The pork chop was very tasty, and I really enjoyed the complimentary soup. The two types of egg provided a nice contrast, whilst the rice was of good texture. This is the anchovy vermicelli noodle soup. My buddy who ordered it definitely had very mixed feelings about it. She was hoping for something decidedly lighter and less meaty, which was why we had expected noodles with soup. What we were served actually was noodles in anchovy soup, with pork belly and vietnamese sausage. So whilst I enjoyed the spiciness and flavour of the soup, it wasnt what I was looking for. I guess that for a newly opened store, That Viet Place has quite a few areas of improvement, but the serv

We started at Sunny Park Shopping Centre, in a recently opened Vietnamese restaurant, That Viet Place. We were offered Bun Rieu, a Crab and Pork noodle soup that was delicate and flavoursome and a great way to start the tour. We added our own bean sprouts, herbs and chilli. Delicious!
