Yesterday, we visited Sheesh Mahal and thoroughly enjoyed our Indian lunch quickly prepared by an owner/chef from Delhi. The starters of Vegetable Samosas and Onion Bhaji were perfectly prepared. A chef’s special followed, Lamb Nihaari, consisting of chopped lamb shanks, slow cooked in aromatic herbs and spices. This dish was a first for us and we loved it! Full flavoured Chicken Madras, Peas Pulao, condiments, rice and hot fresh stuffed Naans completed our meal. We were very satisfied with the service, prices, entertaining conversation with the owner and loved the food. Can definitely recommend this restaurant and will most certainly return.
LOVED the chicken jalfrezi! The garlic naan was delicious too! We also enjoyed the chicken sagwala which was tasty! The great bonus is that all curries come with rice, and the lady is happy to refill the rice at any time!

Love the curries here - last night was our fourth visit in only a couple of months. I got the vegetables in mango sauce and my girlfriend got the butter chicken again and both were really nice. 5 star curries but I think the decor could do with some modernising.
I would highly recommend to try the tandoori chicken, it is the best in Brisbane!! The chef is super friendly. The naan are fresh out of the tandoor. The chicken chadhai is very good too!!

Amazing place run by a wonderful man jahangir is one of the best and most caring restaurant owners i have ever met. More than anything else he wants you to go away satisfied and happy and his food is definitely up to the standard. His nihari and nan are especially awesome. He knows most of his customers by name and remembers them. I would come here again and again. Very very authentic food a must try.

I love this place...we went there randomly and to tell you the truth I don’t remember the last time I ate so much. The hosts went over and above to make us feel at home. I loved how the chef Jahangeer brought out the curry paste on spoons for us to taste and asked us for our opinion and if we would like any changes...needless to say we didn’t...we felt we were over at a friends place for dinner...truly authentic cooking and authentic hospitality...I would give a 6/5 if possible...will definitely be going back often

Awesome and delicious food. The Indian masala's in the biryani were very good. With the taste of biryani I felt as if I was in India.

Delicious food and friendly service makes this place shine. I ordered Aloo Gobi and it was a perfect blend of spices and flavour. You can't go past the Paneer dishes or Lamb shank curry with rice and naan. The owner is very friendly, attentive and the overall restaurant is 5 star in food and service. I recommend this place 👍
Really lovely little place. Always enjoy coming here for a affordable alternative to cooking at home. The atmosphere is very homely and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. We usually get curries, naan and drinks and are never disappointed. Whenever we get leftovers takeaway they are always happy to add a bit more sauce and rice. Always a great experience!

My partner and I had a very good meal here. Everything was delicious, with a very authentic feel. The lady who served us was lovely too. One of the best Indian meals we've had in Brisbane - highly recommended.
Both the food and service were outstanding. Love the lamb shank curry and the garlic & cheese naan. Just a little room for improvement - the cleanliness of the environment can be a bit better. But overall is a very nice experience, will definitely come back with more friends.

My husband and I had been searching for delicious and authentic Indian in Brisbane for 2 years and we found this restaurant finally last week. Jack ‘the owner ‘ and Beena were very attentive.We went back there tonight again! We will be back there weekly!
Great value, cheesy garlic naan was amazing! We ordered butter chicken and beef vindaloo. It came with a large bowl of rice, plenty for two people. Flavour was great. So great that we scraped the bowls clean. Also, plenty of meat, compared to other places. The owners were lovely.
The chef ‘Jack’ is very friendly and accomodating. The food is well priced for the amount you get. I recommend dining in to get the full experience from chef to plate.

Being new to South Brisbane, I had this big craving for Indian food. I saw very good reviews for sheesh mahal restaurant. So one Sunday evening I decided to have a walk to explore this restaurant. It was little away from main road, but located along few other restaurants & ideal seating. The receptionist was very cordial & helped me in deciding the items , I ordered 3 rotis & mutter paneer. She asked me about spice requirements & was courteous to served roasted papodoms (would have been even better if they served it with mint chilli curd chutney). Once the curry was getting ready they even gave me a sample to check if spice was was ok.
Further once the portion was served it was huge & sufficient for 2 persons.
It was delicious, but slightly more oily.
The best part was chef came out enquired about taste & offered me rice & subjugate as parcel.
I would recommend this restaurant to all genuine food lovers to give it a try. I will not guarantee great taste but I assure you that hospitality shall not disappoint you.

One of the best Indian restaurants we’ve found in Brisbane. The portion sizes are always so generous and we always seem to receive awesome extras with our meals (papadums, rice, sauces etc). The menu has a huge variety of meat and vegetarian dishes, and great customisation options that cater to any dietary requirements. The service is also so great, Jakh and the staff are kind and attentive and so so quick. Even though we’ve moved further away now we still drive in to go here, can’t recommend enough!!

'Jack' and team have nailed this authentic predominately takeaway Indian Diner to the wall best in BNE south east at a price point beyond value for money.. I live 30mins away and happily drive backwards towards work at Oxley on my days off to pickup takeaway... meat and sauces note are freshly prepared for each dish not blended like most in BNE.... Both of us have over 30 years of currie fascination and eating Indian over 5 x states many other destinations and this is in my top three curry takeaway temples in AUS by far... if u think Bain Marie u know food in the window takeaways are the go then u need a fast reality adjustment and drive no matter how far to the Sheesh Mahal Temple of curry n naan and spend 37.00 on two dishes n fork out the extra for garlic naan and let Jack rip u a new vindaloo dish and slip into Indian gastronomical heaven.... go now ;>

Fantastic restaurant and delicious food. Lamb shank Curry is one of my favorite curries I have tasted there. The chef named as sunny arrived from Rajasthan, India ...provides the new recipe curries as well as beef nihari in our dinner which makes our dinner so yumm..and delicious too. Lovely place for the food...love their service too👍 .

Fantastic service and wonderful food. The host was friendly and offered extra rice for us to take home with our leftovers if we wanted. The portions were a really good size with a perfect meat:sauce ratio. The shahi paneer, cheese and garlic naan and milk dumpling dessert were all particularly delicious. It’s a very homely, relaxed vibe and we’ll definitely be going back!
An awesome restaurant with great food and a very warm owner. Most dishes I’ve tried are absolutely delicious especially the biryani and beef nihari. Recommended for big gatherings as well. Catering for a large group was highly crowd pleasing.
The food here is the closest you’ll find to the spicy Indian and Pakistani cuisines back home. The chicken korma and kadhai are a must try! The starters are mouth watering (sheekh kebab especially)

This restaurant is so amazing. The curries have authentic indian taste which is very hard to get in Brisbane. Every curry does not have the same base and is different. Would say that if you want to experience good Indian food please go here. I know how much I have struggled to find a good place and finally this is my go to restaurant if I want to immerse my taste buds in the rich flavours of India. Thank you Mr. Jahangir!!

Outstanding service! The owner went above and beyond, even topping up our meals with extra sauce and meat when we were ready to take them home. The goat stew was delicious, and the classic butter chicken was tasty with good pieces of meat in both. The rice was fluffy and fresh, and the naan breads were amazing - not too oily like some other places.
We were also grateful for how understanding the owner and staff were when our little boys started paying up - they didn’t care and were just talking to them normally.
Absolute favourite new Indian restaurant. We’ve only ever ordered takeaway from there, but will now definitely eat in more!

I accidentally tried this restaurant as my favorite Indian restaurant in Brisbane was closed at the time. And so this is my favorite from now on. It was really amazing. I ordered goat biriyani and it was really delicious with juicy meat. Try this goat biriyani, which is the magic of chef Jahangeer, if you're a biriyani lover. I'm often going to visit this place for this juicy goat biriyani.
