They don’t give fresh Salad Not happy In Reply to owner I had a large Karage Chicken during lunch and the salad it came it was off I didn’t realise it until my partner pointed it out then I had to pick out all the off bits shown in picture.

Handy little lunch spot on Adelaide St, doing an absolutely roaring lunchtime trade! I ordered the karaage chicken bowl (what else with a store name like that!). Despite the massive crowd, service was very quick & efficient. My karaage bowl was good without being great, and the price was fairly standard for a city lunch ($10). Worth a visit, especially if you work nearby. 👍

I do not even want to give one star to this unethical business. Despite how good their food is, the boss and some of the staff are absolutely unfriendly people. Improve your food hygiene and staff training processes please!!! I was doing a work trial here. Once I arrived, the front desk boy asked me to serve the customers without giving me an introduction about their food and services. As soon as I refused to service the customers in the circumstance that I've been given no information, the boy told me to stand aside to check the menu by myself. While I was standing aside, another girl in the kitchen came up to me, telling me to clean all the tables. Then I asked which table sections are owned by this restaurant, she pulled an ugly face towards me saying that all the tables outside needed to be cleaned. Once again, please, you guys cannot run a restaurant business like this!!!

Music is way too loud and impacts the ordering process. The barrier is also way too high such that you can barely see the person serving. I went to order a fourth roll and the woman serving just went on to the next person in line. The sushi is just okay.

I absolutely love the sushi here and would eat here everyday if I could. Staff have always been friendly and efficient!! I just wish they would ditch the plastic containers and rubber bands that people use for thirty seconds and then it goes straight in to the bin!! Let’s go for something that can be recycled!!

I've had hits and misses with this place. Don't order chicken karaage in the evening before they close. Ordered chicken karaage and they brought it out in 2 minutes. Seemed like they just gave me leftovers. The rice was still warm but the chicken was not. I had to heat it up in the microwave for 30 seconds. The outside coating of the chicken wasn't crispy but completely soggy. Felt like eating weird slimy mush with my chicken and rice. Changed my rating from 2 stars to 1 star because I felt sick after eating half of it.

The food here is really nice. Recently, they even launch my favourite Yuze flavour sauces which is exactly same as I have tried in Japan. Authentic Japanese Cuisines. I almost have lunch everyday here. Strongly Recommend!

Annnnd were back for a redeemers lunch to see if anything has improved in the last 18 months. Sadly no. I went for the top shelf priced large unagi and rice. For those who don't know this is barbecued eel a Japanese delicacy. What I got was a tiny little worm dripping in sweet soy sauce. What can you expect from the Chinese they just have no idea. This place is really cashing in on the fact that locals are ambivalent to Asian food authenticity. Aka NFI.

A lot of harsh reviews here but Karaage is great.  Not fine dining but good quick cheap japanese street food.  Line is often out the door around lunch time as it is the best Japanese around.

I caught the cook using his bare disgusting fingers to touch my food.<br/><br/>Ordered a rice bowl with no pickle. Saw over the counter the cook realise his mistake and use his DISGUSTING BARE FINGERS TO pick off the pickles from my egg omelette. I called him out in it twice before he agreed to remake my Meal. <br/><br/>Will not return. UnHygienic!!!!!

Started out great and declining badly. The signature karaage chicken is just a big bowl of rice with a small amount of batter and even less chicken. Sushi is still excellent. Disappointing.

Home of the only Udon I have ever seen that thinks a single piece of fake friggin crab meat cut in two is 1. An actual reasonable amount of meat in an 8 dollar dish, and 2. Somehow worth charging more to -double-.<br/><br/>Really disappointed, never eating here again. Ugh.

Sorry but the coffee was a mix of water and milk /the coffee was mysteryly hidden *))I don't normally care but that was a jock. Hopefully the food is better, but not planing to try.

I waited to review this one until I went back (and funnily enough ordered the same thing!). The food is consistent, the sashimi fresh and reasonably priced and the fried chicken bowl adequate - a bit too much rice vs protein for my liking. Not a bad option for a quick lunch in the city

Can only comment on the coffee here as I just ran in for a takeaway. The barista asked me if  I wanted a double shot when I ordered as I requested strong & hot. I opted for a shot & a half & it wasn't enough (my stupid fault). Flavor was passable Piazza D'oro brew

Whether it's a quick stop over before the footy or an after work dinner, Karaage hits the spot! Plenty of options to choose from whether it's a hot meal or quick bite of sushi. <br/><br/>I've been here a few times now (first time with the fabulous Cino's Mum and the other half) and ordered the same thing each time! Our recent trip, I ordered the Karaage Chicken and it was so yummy! Crispy chicken, fluffy rice, Japanese mayo - who can really complain? My chicken was crispy on the outside, moist on the inside and the rice perfectly cooked. The prices are really good, portions are great, staff very friendly and so easy to find! Definitely a go to for me when I want something quick, simple and delicious!

So on a Friday afternoon after work you think "what do you want for dinner?" Pizza or Karaage chicken...Karaage chicken wins.<br/><br/>Now im not and havent been a fan of Teriyaki chicken for a while due to a bad experience, but for the past couple of visits to Karaage my mind has been changed and these guys do a really good Teriyaki chicken. Shortly after 5pm on a Friday I thought this place would be a bit busier but it worked in my favour because it wasnt busy. The chicken wasnt dry and just tasted wonderful, with the perfect amount of Teriyaki sauce that ment you could get the taste of the chicken also, the lettuce was freshly washed and crispy with steaming rice at the bottom. Great choice for dinner.

Karaage is a Japanese cooking technique, whereby small pieces of meat - usually bite size pieces of chicken thigh - are marinated, coated in potato starch (or wheat flour) and lightly fried in oil.<br/><br/>With a name like Karaage, I was expecting to find great Chicken Karaage on offer.<br/><br/>After reviewing the menu - this didn't take long as there are only ten items - I asked the seemingly absurd question, "do you sell Chicken Karaage?"<br/><br/>The staff pointed to menu item number six, which represented a fried chicken thigh, topped with mayonnaise and BBQ sauce, served over rice with mixed greens. This doesn't look like any Chicken Karaage I've ever had, in Japan, Australia or elsewhere, but I still decided to give it a go.<br/><br/>A bit too much mayonnaise and BBQ sauce for my taste, but the chicken was tasty. This rated a 3.<br/><br/>Service was less than stellar...not exactly friendly.<br/><br/>I don't think I'll be back anytime soon.<br/><br/>

Tumbleweeds & crickets greeted me & my Zo-mates on arrival, along with a slightly uninspiring vibe inside. <br/><br/>Undeterred we nevertheless still ordered our fix of karaage chicken. A large bowl for $9.50 was served with salad leaves, a substantial bed of rice and a veritable river of sauce on top. The karaage pieces had a nice crisp coating & the chicken was tender. Size-wise it definitely represented good value for money & luckily I had a willing taker to finish the last of mine for me. Overall this was a totally adequate low-key meal.<br/><br/>There was also a selection of pre-made single sushi rolls and packs which looked a bit sad after what I suspect was a long day in the cabinet.<br/><br/>Undoubtedly a decent feed for residents in the Student One building above but otherwise....yeah, nup. I could take it or leave it.
