Review Won Ton Ton - Brisbane

Xiao long bao tastes like steamed buns, not juicy and didn’t even get the flavor of pork, the bun is super thick which is not the same thing as Xiao long bao. They’re definitely steamed buns!!!!

The only place I’m willing to spend $10+ For food. I’ve regularly ordered dumplings and big buns from them for the past 4 years. I highly recommend checking them out even if you’re just going for a shop in the centre! Great workers and awesome service. You sometimes have to wait a bit but it’s worth it because their dumplings are to die for.

Ate at Won Ton Ton in Jan 2018 - a light lunch while shopping. The fried dumplings were quite tasty and I'd give them 3/5 stars even though they seemed a bit too "wet" for me compared to others I've had in the past. However, the steamed ones fell apart when picking them up to eat them. They were possibly over-steamed? I'd give them 1/5 stars. Hence my average of 2 stars. If I do eat here again I wont have the dumplings and will try something else.

I love their dishes! especially the big pork buns and steamed mini pork buns (xiao long Bao) taste really good!!!

Foods alright, customer service is poor from certain staff member with big eyebrows and contact lenses on a few occasions. On phone while serving at register and very rude. Won't be ordering while she's there

PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE A PEANUT ALLERGY!!!!!!!!! Luckily I’ve only got a mild allergy in comparison to others, but there is no signage anywhere saying their products contain peanuts or are cooked in peanut oil. Please please be careful eating here or taking your kids with an allergy here!

I like this franchise for their Pan Fried Buns and Wonton Soup & 2 Pork Buns Deal. It’s School Holidays so I join the queue and place my order. The Pork Buns are hot and the filling is nice. My Wonton Soup has five big tasty Wontons, two types of Fish Balls,Vegetables and a delicious soup. I am surprised by the quality of this meal. Well done!

After sampling a small piece of their lemon chicken I had to go back and reorder the proper full-sized item. There was a small line of people lining up at this stall in the already very busy 8-street. After receiving the lemon chicken we noticed that there were 2 pieces of relatively small chicken thighs that had been deep-fried and covered in a sticky sweet sauce. The chicken was perfectly fried - a nice crispy batter whilst still being moist and succulent on the inside. The chicken pieces were placed on a piece of thin paper-like material shaped into a small bowl. This in theory was good (especially for recycling/the environment) however, we decided to not eat the chicken until it cooled down a bit. After a while we noticed that the sauce had somehow dripped onto the tray and that there was no more sauce in the bowl. The sauce had leaked through the paper-like bowl and there was now a sticky tray. I would recommend eating the chicken quickly so that the sauce remains in the bowl to re-dip into as the sauce is fantastic. It is slightly sweet and tangy! For $5.90 this was a nice snack to eat but definitely not enough to fill up on for a full meal.

There were quite lots of people ordering food but they managed to serve the food quick. I had the combination of prawn and crab and egg and pork. The price was reasonable for 6 pcs of dumplings. The dumplings were soft and not dry. Filling was so generous. I liked it. Their chicken was also good. Worth to try.

Delicious pork and mushroom won ton soup from 8 street in Garden City. Nice large portion and one of the most convenient stores in the street. Lots of options and authentic foods from people that know what they’re doing and also quite friendly.

Read Joe K’s review about his experience of this chain store at Mt Ommaney that recalled my first experience of dinning at its Garden City’s store. It was quite a while ago and was my first visit of 8 Street. When I walked in the food precinct, I was excited by so many busy eateries running together and serving all the starving customers. My first glance was attracted by the Won Ton Ton so I ordered their signature Combination Wonton. While I was paying my bill, I was told that I could have extra dish of “Shan Dong Chicken” by paying extra couple of dollars. I missed that dish for many years so definitely agreed to have the promo. Although the combination Wonton was delicious with generous portion; however, the so called chicken dish was absolutely let down. I was disappointed to see a dish of something like chicken nuggets rather then what I expected to be the authentic “Shan Dong Chicken”. Fortunately, the management has changed their promo when I had the dinner at the other store located at the Logan Hyperdome and I appreciate that this eatery was getting successful in business and branches out in four outlets now.

A story of OKs....<br/><br/>This is a little window stall at 8 Street in Garden City. <br/><br/>I had pork n prawn wonton on soup today, as well as some Shandong Chicken (deep fried in batter)<br/><br/>The wontons had a decent pastry. The filling was very average: prawn was a single small prawn in each won ton and the pork had issues, which may have compromised of:<br/>1. Insufficient 'kneading'<br/>2. Ground too fine<br/>3. Too much added flour. <br/>I did like the (what I thought was) fish soup that the wonton came with as well as the different fungus toppings!<br/><br/>The chicken was ok: needed to be crispier and with better seasoning. <br/><br/>Atmosphere: mild... But it was 4 in the afternoon.<br/><br/>Decor: dark food court in 'Asia' style. (But this most of 8 Street tbh)<br/><br/>Service: ok. Could be quicker. <br/><br/>Value: large serving of chicken (for $5.50) - seemingly. (may have been perspective in the serving method)<br/>Won ton soup... Not really. <br/><br/>Verdict: ... Ok..

My friend recommended this place because of its amazing pork buns. They did not disappoint. I ordered 3 for $5.50. Such great value. You can see the buns being crafted through a window. So so tasty. Would recommend to others.

This time we just wanted a light meal so we ordered half dozen pan fried dumplings, salt pepper prawns and shantung crispy chicken. All of them was delicious. Dumpling was cooked to perfection, prawns also perfectly cooked and well seasoned and as for chicken, inside meat was tender and crispy outside.
Tomcat
Visiting Garden City 8 Street food market for a quick lunch. After my order at Very Thai, Mrs Tomcat decided to join me. She felt under the weather that day and wanted something soupy. With that in mind, I made a stop at Won Ton Ton. The Chinese take away shop has been renounced for their generous free tastings, dumplings and steam bun varieties. Mrs Tomcat's go to meal is the wonton combination with two pork steam buns.<br/><br/>The food was ready with 10min. The big bowl of wonton soup contains minced pork wontons, cloud ear fungus, Chinese veggies and fish cake all in a white broth. The wontons were perfectly cooked but the pork and dried shrimp fillings were overly salty and on the boring side. Soup was dead set water with flour and has no other seasoning. The steamed pork buns that day was served room temperature. The bun itself was soft and fragrant but was dragged down by the salty minced pork fillings. Nothing inspiring but not too bad either considering the $13.90 price tag. 3/5<br/><br/>Hint: I would still recommend giving their pork buns a go, when served hot and fresh its an easy 3.5/5. Considering $2 each, it presents a true bargain.

I had the wonton soup with pork and prawn dumpling. The dumplings are bigger than I expected and there is about 10 dumplings in the soup. Super filling and the soup was very nice to me.

I love the wonton in this place really well. Really authentic and tasteful. The service here is really nice, and the price is understandable and acceptable. I wanna try some other food in the place next time! Really good place to have my favourite wonton. Really enjoyable. Awesome! <br/>

I'm surprised how underrated this place is - hands down the best wonton soup I've ever had. <br/>I'm always craving it! <br/>Cheap, very flavoursome, big serve (10 huge wontons with heaps of greens) and they usually have samples available to try! <br/>Absolutely love the Shandong Crispy chicken with their special sauce, great snack!

Have tried the wonton noodle soup and buns here. Pretty decent and reliable food, just not particularly special / stands out. I often buy buns for my toddler here for lunch.<br/>Always ready to provide samples to taste. They explain their food really well for foreigners. Food freshly prepared.

Had a taste of the pork and prawn dumplings in front of the shop, it was pretty good so line up to get some, waited for about 15 minutes, I think it's a bit too long for food court standard, but the dumplings are pretty good. The salt and pepper calamari is just so so. Will try their buns next time

We walked past and they had little taste tester out for the salt and pepper calamari. Yum! Better than some seafood restaurants. We had to have some. We also ordered the pork and seafood dumplings, very nice. Loved the special sauce. The wait wasnt too long and it only cost $20. Happy campers

Their won tons and won ton soup are quite delicious and always taste fresh. The won tons can be steam fresh or pan fried, and are quite big and filling. Prices are good, staff is friendly, and there was a variety of taste testers. Good location in 8 street at garden city. Always a long wait however, so be prepared to hang around for up to half an hour.

Quite okay for a quick bite, not too pricy and dishes are reasonable. Wontons could be made little better, buns was tasty and juicy. I rate it 6/10

Won Ton Ton have a variety of wonton soups, dumplings, buns as well as snacks including crispy chicken and salt & pepper calamari. The wonton had a porportional amount of meat and prawns which was quite flavoursome.
