Review Vietnam Corner Bbq - Brisbane

Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service ⭐️⭐️ Price ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Environment ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I would highly recommend their Roast Duck few months ago, but NOT recently. Went there one month ago, found plenty of fur on the roasted duck skin. Gave another try one week later, still the same and I have stop going there since then. Will give a try after few months, perhaps. Nothing much to complaint about their service as it depends whether or not they are busy. Neither busy nor not busy, they never serve me the Hot Tea. So I always self service on this part. Food & Taste wise, I like their Sweet & Sour Pork and Clay pot dishes. As an Asian, we love ordering steam rice. But don’t expect they serve you with Jasmine Rice/Good Quality Rice here. You can tell the white rice quality after trying, especially those Rice Lover. As a Malaysian living in Singapore for the past 10 years, I wont recommend Singapore Noodle at all. Its totally a different 星洲炒米 taste compare to what I ate before in my whole life, and I can taste the curry powder. So, I wont recommend that unless its your first time trying. Overall, the food is good considering that kind of price.

Great value tea sets - $10.90 for a main noodle/rice and a hot drink. We had the beef brisket noodle, soya chicken noodle, Viet beef noodle and the sweet sour pork. Great tasting HK flavours. Big portions, had enough leftovers for dinner. Service staff as sullen as those in HK. Come here for an authentic HK experience.😆

Vermicelli salted beef looks nothing like the picture. In response to the owner, i was sending the review from your restaurant and was there from 5pm to 6pm. So i definitely know it is your restaurant

We like the Vietnamese Soup Noodles and Roast Meats here. Food quality is good and service is fast!

In general, decent food and good range. I liked how big the drinks were. Had a minor mix-up, the waitress had mixed up my order with another person's on the other side of the restaurant. I was also disappointed that one of my family members found pieces of beef in her chicken noodles. Luckily she only refuses beef for religious reasons but I feel like this level of neglect could be quite detrimental to someone with dietary restrictions. All in all, food is good, atmosphere is good, just disappointed at the service.

Economic afternoon tea set: Vietnamese Pho beef noodles + white tea = $10.90 only. Easy, tasty, happy.

Almost got 5 star from us . Food was amazing, would definitely recommend people to go here. Fried Lamb was soo good. 4 star simply because the older Asian lady that works there needs to work on her customer service, she comes across very aggressive and rushy. Otherwise a thumbs up .

My partner ordered bbq pork with rice, I ordered fish ball noodle soup. I waited at least 20min for mine ( next table ordered later than us & finished their meal already when I got my soup). As u can see the soup has only ONE fish ball in it… The taste of food here is fine, but the service is really disappointing…

We visit this restaurant regularly for Cantonese and Vietnamese meals. Phuong Tran decides we lunch here and we place our order before the lunchtime rush.

PT is happy with her Soy Chicken & Rice. My Roast Duck, Roast Pork & Rice is below par. My Roast Duck consists of 6 pieces of backbone, almost inedible. The serving of Roast Pork is generous but the crackling is chewy, not crisp. And the steam rice is barely warm. A disappointing lunch!

Went past this eatery and it was quiet due to impact of COVID-19. However, it recalled my last dining experience here.
It was a weekday lunch time. We went for a quick lunch. After perused of the menu, we decided to go for its chef suggestions of abalone with rice + a dish of soya sauce chicken and additional noodles with combo bbq meat. Both orders were good. Bbq meat of roasted pork and duck deserves thumb-up. Moreover, the idea of abalone with rice and chicken won our appreciation. Abalone came with reasonable portion and the gravy was very tasteful.
We must return for that after the restriction has been released.🙏
Rating: 4.5/5
Previous rating: Dec 2018 4/5; Aug 2018 4/5; Jun 2015 3.5/5

Ordered the two bbq pork and soy chicken noodle dish. Compare to other tables ... my portion size is smaller the pork is thinly cut. Also compare to a few months ago when we came portion size is comparatively a lot smaller today. Can they be more consistent ?

this place has had a facelift and is now called Vietnam corner. went here today got the beef pho. didnt get ant bean sprouts, mint and lemon that traditionally comes with pho. no sauces also as in fish sauce, chilli, hoi sin and soy.had to ask for the sauces and gave me such small portions, i prefer it the way it was before, i was a regular here.dont like the change and will not be back. you might look all fancy but you have lost tradition with food. so sad, oh well back to market square i go.

Today, we found this restaurant after looking for a carpark to go to another restaurant. So it looked inviting from the outside, the bbq caught the eye of the wife.

So I walk in first, had to walk over to the counter to have a staff member look at me and say "yes". Great customer service, then I asked do we just sit anywhere and she mentioned yes, so I proceed to sit down at a spot near the kitchen entrance. Not the warmest of welcomes and not inviting. Another waitress just drops 2 menus on the table and walks off, so then I wait for my wife.

As we sit and wait, you have to sign to the staff to say come take my order, I believe the owner took our order and she took the liberty of letting us know what was and wasnt on the menu at around this time of day. She also offered us the use of baby chairs and we took 1, other staff didnt really care.

So we ordered the 3 treasure with rice, vietnamese iced coffee and ribena drinks with side I'd Vegertian spring rolls.

Drinks arrive and the iced coffee was just the right balance of coffee and condense milk. No complaints about the ribena also.

Our rice dishes arrive first before our entree spring rolls, but we were hungry. This dish looks simple enough and it is, just 3 types of meat on a bed of rice with a little soy dressing sauce. This 3 treasure was ok, bbq was a little bland, the soy chicken was nice as was the duck. Rice was a little dry but was saved by the soy sauce.

There are numerous other places to eat, we were made unwelcome from the start.

Even though it says “Vietnam” I think the Chinese dishes are better - particularly the bbq - I usually go for duck or crispy pork which they serve with either rice or noodle soup. Interior is comfy but nothing fancy. I’m giving it 4.5 for its Chinese options 😋

Went here for my lunch break on the basis of the hype of this page, had the Hong Kong style BBQ Pork and Wonton Noodle Soup. Disappointing to say the least - not inedible, but certainly not amazing. Starting with the good aspects, the soup was hot, and the prawn Won Tons and Noodles in it were good. The restaurant was clean, tidy and well maintained. The broth on the other hand tasted like it was made from stock cubes, slightly lower flavour profile than your average 2 minute noodle packet. The pork tasted more like Aldi pre-marinated pork steaks than actual Char Siu. The worst aspect of all was the staff attitude - cold and stone faced - not bad service but I got the vibe that they would rather I wasn't there. A smile and welcome wouldn't go astray.

Not worth the money, won't be coming back again. Small portions..didn't even get full. Ordered the seafood stirfried noodle, was about half the size of other asian places around sunnybank. Noisy environment too. If you want stir fried noodle, better off visiting kingsfood at market square.

40 min wait for food and terrible service at this restaurant! We had to wait 40 mins for our meal. During the time we were waiting we had asked them if our meal was prepped 5 times and each time they said they were already making it but our meal never came out while other tables after us were already getting their meals. We asked them why it was taking so long, the lady said ‘the chef is making all the Chinese food first’. Last time I checked this restaurant is called ‘Vietnam corner’...yet they don’t want to make their Vietnamese food. No compensation or apology given, staff were rude and doesn’t seem keen for business. Avoid at all costs

Went here with the family on multiple previous occasions as one of our go-to roast duck and Oriental take-out dinners. Our most recent occasion was for dinner on a weeknight.

We were quickly greeted and served menus as well as hot tea. We ordered half a roast duck, roast pork noodle soup, green vegies with garlic, and the special rice.

The roast duck was lovely and juicy with crispy skin. The pork was well-cooked. The noodle soup, rice and vegies were standard with little faults.

Service was quick and efficient. All of our meals arrived in probably 10 mins or less. Casual ambience. Prices are very reasonable for the portions of food served.

Overall, good comfortable Chinese and Vietnamese food.

Food was cold. Tasted like crap. Flavorless. Lackluster. Waiters hardly spoke English. Ordered roast pork. Got roast duck and told they only did duck and not pork.
Ordered a milo. Watered down to the shit house. Was like drinking dish water. Asked for a different drink only to have the waiter bring back the exact same 1 but topped up a bit more... avoid at all costs.

Discovered this place by accident (when we popped into the Asian Grocery Store, nearby), and we were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions of the meals we choose (Chinese style meats with rice). Fresh, Hot, Delicious and Affordable Asian Food. Went back a few times and tried the Mini Banquet which is now our staple.
Sharona Maree
Delicious quick place for some fast tasty asian. Try the 2 person banquet. All dishes are very nice. But if you order entree be sure to ask for it to come out first or it may come out half way through the other dishes. Plenty of undercover parking
Msjazz
My favourite Asian spot in Sunnybank. Whenever I visit my hometown I head straight here for my fill of combination chow mein, salt and pepper tofu, BBQ meats, Chinese greens and lemongrass pork one of the house specialities. Their soups are fantastic too! All round a tasty and affordable meal.
Benji
Ordered a pork and spring roll vermecelli salad and must say it was quite tasty. The portion size was reasonable and the food came out quickly. Will defs be back!

Improved over the last few months. I am greeted with prompt service, received food within 15mins and it was relatively clean for a vietnamese restaurant. I get my usual vermicelli salad with vegetarian spring rolls. Can't complain for the price I paid. Veges were fresh, noodles cooked til firm, spring rolls could have been more flavoursome, fish sauce was standard. Would be back again for a quick, cheap meal.
Edit: Vietnam Corner has recently been renovated and food was alot better. My family shared the 4 person banquet and there was more than enough food. Would recommend.

I used to come here a year ago and found that foods were mediocre except their banana fritters which made me came back here again. This time I tried the roast pork rice and combination chow mien. Roast pork was okay... the middle part was a bit dry. For Chow Mien...although it was quite yummy but still could not beat the one from old Suncorp. Here the noodle not too crispy and a little lack of gravy. As for the banana fritter...no complain...it was as yummy as I remember.
However, what made a big different now from last year was their big improvement on the services. Owner was very welcome and friendlier now which made us more comfortable. Good job and keep it up...

I've had this place on the radar for a while since another Zomato reviewer had mentioned that these guys do a better roast duck than Burlington BBQ at Market Square (my go to place for roast duck).
Felt in the mood for takeaway so I ordered a 1/2kg each of their roast duck and roast pork. While both were good, neither matched what I get at Burlington BBQ. Still it's good enough for me to look forward to trying other things on their menu.
Arbs
A great range of Vietnamese and Chinese food on the menu. Nicely nestled in the middle of the car park with a sense of superiority. The boss lady works here every time I go and is very friendly to all her customers - a great example of service. I look forward to the next time.

Having had a somewhat disappointing bowl of Pho last time, a friend of mine, having read my online rants, decided to take me out to grab some Pho before watching the new Inferno movie last week. Being a big fan of the Oriental chain stores, he took me to their Vietnamese branch, Vietnam Corner, situated in the carpark of Sunny Park, for a quick dinner.

Good variety, decent food. For an Asian place, the service was pretty friendly.

Pretty popular with locals. Nothing particularly special though. The dishes we had were alright. Cantonese and Vietnamese food.

Noticed they don't seem to have their arvo tea specials displayed and they've changed the chairs. I dunno makes it look more old to me personally. Not sure if it's cause of new management?

High chairs provided and plastic bowl.
Super tasty food at a very reasonable price, all the dishes are between $10-$15. We had the BBQ Pork and Crispy roast pork combination with rice. And also another pork dish with vermicelli noodles and spring roll. All the food was very nice, flavoursome and tender. Although quite salty... but yeah pretty good overall! :)
Tasting Plate
Super tasty food at a very good price! Our first time here was a Thursday evening and the staff were friendly, food came out fast and it was all good. Nothing fancy, simple and good Vietnamese food.

Vietnam corner has lovely food. Have been here a couple of times and food has been your typical Sunnybank restaurant good. Nothing amazing but satisfying for a quick dine out. Food is nice however service is very poor. Manager is nice, however if they aren't around, the staff are unwelcoming, rude and you really need to wave your arms around to try and get some service. If you can put your mind pass the service, food is worth a try.
Live
If you ask me to choose between this restaurant and Coffee Square, I would definitely choose this one. The Three treasure with rice is my favorite dish. Their Pho isn't bad too. Service is alright. Overall, not a bad restaurant to try.
J&E Eating Adventures
Vietnam corner was very authentic. We ordered Pho and crispy chicken noodle soup. The meals were quite large and delicious. They were also very reasonably priced. Even though we did not get the chinese tea that we ordered and our meals did not come out together we still enjoyed our Vietnam Corner experience and will be back. ✌🐼

Vietnam Corner is tucked away undercover at Sunnybank Plaza and does a mix of Vietnamese and Chinese dishes. The food is a mixed bag, but pretty good value for money. Service is typical Sunnybank style, they'll take your order and bring it to you (that's about it). Don't come here for the best Pho or the best Chinese dishes, come here for the variety and reasonably good fusion type meals.
MsK
Situated on the outside of Sunnybank plaza, it's a fusion Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant. There is plenty of tables and the manager is always friendly and welcoming; if only the staff followed her example. The Chinese dishes are done well however the Vietnamese dishes especially the soups are not as authentic and I can taste the MSG flavoring which is a shame given that it's called Vietnam Corner.
T
Crappy vietnamese food. didn't even taste authentic. go elsewhere for real vietnamese food

This place is fail safe. Not sure what to eat ... Vietnam corner. Not sure where to eat ... Vietnamese corner. Missing cat ... possible Vietnamese corner ... super tasty. Very worth it. Eat the wontons. Just do it.

Disappointment at Sunnybank

We had heard from a friend that they thought this restaurant was pretty good, unfortunately that was not our shared opinion. The menu seemed like a fantastic selection, unfortunately as entertaining as the selection was, the tastes where not as exciting, and fairly bland.

Maybe worth a second try, very clean for an asian restaurant, and there seemed to be a pile of great range of colourful options.

Our party of ten arrived at 6.30 with my partner and I being fashionably late. We were immediately seated, had ordered within five minutes and had our food in another ten. When the meals arrived (at the same time) they were huge, fresh and delicious! Our waitress was so efficient, didn't forget a thing and hung around all night to make sure we were happy. All around best Vietnamese we have all ever had! Thank you guys so much for a fabulous meal!

Love it, authentic Viet food!. I've been here a lot. The food is always fresh and service is prompt, although not so friendly. The price is reasonable and food is usually consistent. However, this restaurant is very noisy, don't go for a romantic or intimate time as you won't hear each other...
Christy
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place!!! Yummy food, fantastic friendly warm service who remember your name. Great atmosphere. Prompt service. Our interstate visitors always ask us to take them back, it's become a regular for us. Bentley

LOVE this place its amazing everytime! the workers are lovely aswell. Definately worth the money

Great Viet food. Love the beef pho here and good rice dishes too. Gets busy and cramped but that's an authentic Asian experience!

This is one of those places you can rely in for a decent feed without breaking the bank. Sure to satisfy any Asian craving!

Consistently good food. Been here a number of times. They are part of the same chain linked with Malaya Corner and Sunnybank Oriental. While the standards have gone down with the other two places, I must say that Vietnam Corner has been very consistent with the quality and taste. Apart of the excellent hour fun, the stir fried vermicelli with bean sprouts, pumpkin and fish is great. Noodle soups are also good. I am looking forward to try the barbecue meats. Give it a go!
Foodfiend186
Long time fave. Been going to Viet Corner for about 6 years now. Always reliable, cheap and tasty. Try the Kuala Lumpar Duck for a different treat. The snake beans are delicious too. Plenty of Vietnamese as well as the more Chinese inspired dishes - lots to choose from. Extensive drinks menu as well. Great when you want a quick meal rather than having to cook and definitely worth the drive.
Undercover Chef
Cheap and Cheerful. Consistently great food at very reasonable prices. This is our go- to place when we make a last minute decision to ditch cooking for the night!
Murad
Not too bad but not so good. As a Pho enthusiast I tried their Pho Tai Gan. They sure prepared "Gan" very well, nicely tender and good size to chew, but soup was not that tasty, noodles were broken too much bits and pieces and served portion of thai basil and bean sprouts was very very stingy. I would say that as a whole the taste of their Pho is not too bad but I know a place where they serve Pho so much better than this place at a lower price. Pho at this place seemed not worth the price. There will not be my second visit to this place.

This is a regular restaurant I go for lunch, the meal there are really delicious and always fresh. I strongly recommend their BBQ dish with either rice or noodle, and good price too!

Mmmmm love it!. We drive all the way to Sunnybank to go here! Love the food and rarely have to wait long. The food seems quite fresh probably because of the constant stream of customers (who are mostly Asians, which is a good sign). The atmosphere is average but good for lunch, not for a romantic dinner as it's quite loud....

Excellent fresh Vietnamese. Pho beef ball soup served with fresh & dried chili oil is a real winner and the perfect dish after a night on the town.
Colossus
Never disappoints. Have eaten here numerous times and they always deliver swift, good priced, and delicious meals.

This is the first time I try clear noodle, and it was just fantastic with attractive chicken and nuoc-mam, only $11.9! I would definitely have it again@_^
Tam Nguyen
Vietnam corner. I don't think their food is very Vietnamese. It seems more like a Chinese restaurants with a few Vietnamese dishes. The food was just so so. Nothing special. Won't be coming back anytime soon
LocalDig
Good value. Vietnam Corner is good value for money at a good price. The staff have on occasion forgotten one or two of the dishes..or the food has arrived late....so make sure they absolutely understand you. The place is very clean and tidy.
Mark2IRV
Complete waste of time. Despite reminding numerous staff that my order was taking extremely long, they kept ignoring me and told me to wait. After waiting a good 45mins, I decided to ask a final time where they replied with the stove broke down, meanwhile everyone around me was getting their meals no problem. Great excuse, never going there again.
Food000
Wonton noodle soup!. I have been here several times now for the wonton and pork noodle soup. Just delicious and cheap too. Quick service.
Brendon
Love this place. another quick and easy dine in. When i want pho i either go here or trangs pho in west end

both places are good. this restuarant may not be owned by vietnamese people but their pho style is different.

if you want traditional flavor trangs all the way!
Mels
Only talking ....not yelling. You know how hens get excited after laying an egg and once one starts the others all join in but louder..... this is what this place is like. Customers were mainly Asians as it is an Asian Restaurant.
The menu is huge. (literally as well) You get handed six laminated menu sheets per couple, so they do take over the table a bit……….They have pics of the food on the menu, so easy to order that way….… …. So you won't get chicken feet or pig trotters unless you ordered it.
I noticed the owner/manager rushing around making sure the staff were doing their job ………some staff are annoying when they do this ……but this one was not so annoying.
The reasonable prices on the menu, the good sized portion, the huge menu, the goodish tasting food, and the fast service is the reason we go back there when we see a movie at sunnybank.
This is not a posh restaurant, it's casual. Not really where you would take a first date to or second….you wouldn't hear them.
Maybe hard to find as it's like under and beside a shopping centre car park, you wouldn't know it was there unless you accidently parked beside it when you went shopping.
Ann
Pretty Okay. Not very authentic Vietnamese food. Half the menu is pretty much Chinese food. The waiters that work there are Chinese so they don't understand any Vietnamese. The service is pretty okay.

Well I guess their Wonton Noodle Soup is very nice and I love the dumplings. I think it's the best dumplings I had in a long time.
Jillian
Favorite local hang out. Great food at reasonable prices. Can't ask for more than that.

But you’d never think you were dining with the Devil here, where an air of happy conviviality hangs over the diners

Okay, be prepared to have wait staff who speak and understand little English, so don't be surprised if they don't know the names of their dishes in English when you call for them and expect to have wait staff forget to bring all your orders. The latter 2 is likely to occur under circumstances of an order of a long list of dishes. This is really less of a complaint and more of a cautionary advice for some : ) And so, we almost

Most restaurants are closed at these odd hours between lunch and dinner. Thankfully, Viet Nam Corner BBQ Restaurant heeded our desperate call! Viet Nam corner offer what is a set tea-time menu - and they are often at very reasonable prices for a main dish and a drink.

We crossed Mains Road, and entered the northern carpark of Sunnybank Plaza, into Vietnam Corner which is a fabulous restaurant offering Vietnamese, Chinese and Hong Kong dishes. We had a little combination dish of BBQ Pork, Singapore noodles and Green bean balachan which we slurped down with some hot Chinese tea.

A quick bite at Sunnybank (the little "China Town" of Brisbane) - Vietnam Corner BBQ Restaurant . My favourite Vietnamese eatery is Tân Thành at Inala, they have the BEST Phở in Queensland! Mr F is a big fan of Chinese Roast Duck! So when we found out
Ann
I really come here for the "Roast Duck Wonton Noodle Soup" which is just a egg noodle soup with roast duck and really really good wontons.
