Novelty Takeaway Lids!. This is your literal hole-in-the-wall cafe. A tiny roller-door shop front just big enough for maybe 2 staff members, this place doesn't mess around. Ideal for people walking dogs, wrangling small children or just wandering Sandgate. My favourite part of this place are all the various syrups you can get (did someone mention choc-orange?) and the novelty travel lids that come with their medium and large cups. (It has a little clippy thing that makes the coffee no-spill, so no accidents!) The coffee itself is pretty bitter, and sometimes staff don't talk to you, but they have a suspended coffee and suspended sandwich program that allows people without a lot of money to still have a little luxury here and there - and every time I go past the suspended coffee board is overflowing with the generosity of locals.

Diana. Stopped by here for a takeaway flat white. The flavour of the coffee was actually very different to any I have tried before, was it that minor hint of spice? maybe but all in all I enjoyed the full bodied flavour & the standard one & a half shots in a small cup.

Different, but nice.. I just moved to Sandgate a few months ago, and always walked past Mug Shots, and it always smelled divine. I ended up trying the coffee and was surprised, it had a very different taste but all in all it was really nice and I would definitely go back again.
Coffee is such a tempremental thing, particularly when it comes to consistency day in, day out. Given the care and passion the crew at Mug Shots have for their product, one should never be worried.
Their standard roast is excellent, and their recommendations on how to have the Bean Of The Month are well worth following!
The excellent coffee is complemented by a nice selection of muffins, sandwiches and cookies (the yoghurt and museli is a favourite).
A crowd forever out the front of a suburban coffee shop is a testament to the end result.
In general the staff are friendly but it definitely shows that a couple of staff don't want to be at work. A smile is free....

The coffee shop has a great little window facing the footpath and you can quickly order your coffee there.
The shop also offers plenty of room for scooter parking.
When I'm in Sandgate I always get my coffee from Mugshots. The coffee is delicious, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the sweet treats are divine. I always leave with a smile on my face, already looking forward to my next visit. Thanks for being a super special part of the Sandgate experience ❤️

Excellent coffee and has been for years... and I love that they always have rotating beans of the month so you can try different flavours. House bean is a beautiful smooth, creamy with chocolatey notes blend although it is quite mild so would recommend double shot unless you like weak coffee. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Extra points for accepting reusable coffee cups and offering a 50c discount. Other cafes should follow suit, particularly for the environmentally conscious.
Happy staff, good coffee and food in the fabulous Brighton Rd...what's not to love?
Best Coffee in Sandgate hands down. they also have pouring cream!
This is my pick up and go place. If you're looking for sit down service they have it but this is not why I go here. They do have a free book shelf library that encourages you to sit and read and swap books (you can take them home).
