My favourite Cantonese restaurant on the Westside and our group of five visit for a Saturday dinner. Despite the CV fears, I count 28 diners and the takeaway trade is brisk.
Our entrees arrive after 20 minutes.
* Shark Fin Soup is hot and flavoursome. We have two bowls of delicious soup each.
* Steamed Oysters are mostly large and quite plump. Garnished with Ginger & Shallots these a Oysters are perfectly steamed.
Main dishes arrive as we finish our entrees.
* Dried Oysters, Fatt Choy & Pork Hock is the table favourite. An excellent dish!
* Fried Pork in Peking Sauce is their Signature Dish. I have ordered this dish a dozen times and it is scrumptious every time.
*Fried Tofu is a popular dish here. Topped with fish paste and a tasty sauce, it is a generous serve. Delicious!
*Fried Snake Beans is popular with regular patrons. The Beans are still a bit crunchy and is stir fried with fried savoury Chicken Mince.
Every dish is up to my expectations and we are delighted with our meal. Service is a tad lacking and would be improved with one more waitress. Overall, our group have a great time here. Well done Stir Fry Cafe!
Classic Chinese food. Got all the classics everyone knows and loves. I’d say the best in the local area. A bit greasy but you can’t expect anything different.
Found this place was still opened (almost 9 pm) on the way back from work, so ordered a quick takeaway. Alot to choose from the menu, cheap eats, great flavours, big portions and fast service.

My favourite Chinese food in the area. Combination noodle is very authentic and tasty. Fillet steak in mandarin sauce, soft shell crab and salty fish and chicken fried rice are our all time favourites. The only downside of this place is that it’s dated.
Been going here for years and never had a bad meal from the site. Always gotten the shandy special from here. Waiting time from ordering is 10 - 15 minutes. Excellent service and always greeted with a smile. Recommend eating here
Awesome authentic stir fries, with a heart-felt smile on the face. been increasing the price over the years , but still being one of the cheapest in town
We ordered takeout from here last night. From the initial phone call to place our order, we received quality service.
Our order was ready when we arrived, which was the 20 minutes we were told it would be.
Our food was amazing and certainly the best chinese food we have ever had in Brisbane. My husband, who is Canadian, has not liked any of the Chinese food he has eaten in Australia since moving here five years ago, but he has given the food from here huge accolades.
The Restaurant part of this establishment was extremely busy, which shows you the quality of their food.
For quality, quantity, price and Customer Service the Stir Fry Cafe is highly recommended by us.
Take away food great as usual but tonight I was tempted to leave it on the counter and walk out. We ordered it by phone. I picked it up, waiting patiently for service, young woman gave me the order and as I handed over my card she answered the phone and spent 5 minutes taking a complex order. No eye contact, no smile, no excuse me. If she had put the order on hold I would have paid and been out that door on 20 seconds. Learn some respect and some manners please!
This place is truly worthy of the glowing reviews it has. I am so, SO happy I decided to check Stir Fry Cafe out - it only took me five years since I live right down the road - but better now than never! Stir Fry Cafe is very unassuming in appearance but the food is absolutely fantastic - very fresh, and the portions are huge. It is not the cheapest Chinese place - but the price is a reflection of the quality of food. This isn't some greasy, msg ridden suburban Chinese - the food here is superb and I will be recommending Stir Fry Cafe to everyone I know. We ordered the prawn laksa soup, hokkien noodles with king prawn and fish with ginger and shallots - all of which were fantastic, I could not pick a favorite dish. I was impressed with the generous amount of prawns that came with each dish - they do not skimp out! Looking forward to eating here again soon.
Best Chinese in Western Suburbs. I don't often rave about restaurants, as evidenced in my mostly critical reviews of other places, but this little unassuming place, nestled in a carpark lot, has one of the best Chinese in Brisbane.
Forget ambience, chandeliers, etc. This place is all about the food. Headed by a Hong Kong chef who's been here for decades, food is always cooked to a very high standard, on par with good food places in Hong Kong.
Thing is, Stir Fry has a 'Western menu' serving all the usual Western Chinese dishes, but it also has a Chinese menu serving the local Chinese/Malaysian. Singaporean/Taiwanese populace. Go there on a weekend and you'll see tables of Chinese eating off the menu. Have a look at what they're eating and order off their table!
It's never expensive here, even the fresh, swimming seafood. Long may you continue, Stir Fry. Thank you.
Very Authentic Chinese. Decided to try this little restaurant out after seeing it so busy last time I was at another restaurant, and I have to say, I understand why it's so busy. Staff were very friendly and quick to take our orders, while food arrived equally fast. While they do have an excellent selection of all the western favourites (special fried rice, sweet and sour pork, beef in black bean sauce etc etc) I realised they have a whole other range of traditional Cantonese dishes on another menu. With the suggestion from our waitress, my friends ordered the pork spare ribs in salt and pepper, combination chow mien chinese style, sweet and sour pork chinese style and the duck in plum sauce. Servings were extremely filling and had to doggy bag a lot of leftovers, however dishes were still averagely priced around $15~each. Will definitely come back again and try a few other dishes.
Stir Fry Cafe is simply awesome ! Always really yummy, the ingredients are always fresh, and they don't use MSG, and it is highly affordable, highly recommend :)
More than just a takeout place. Stir Fry Cafe is a no frills joint as far as ambience is concerned. However, if you are a serious foodie in search of good Cantonese cooking, this is the place. Food here beats most top notch restaurants in Brisbane and does not leave a foul MSG taste on your palate after the meal.
Chef owns the business and takes great pride in his cooking standards. Menu offers the usual western takeout standards but be sure to try the Chef's Recommendations page as that's where you'll find the 'real' Cantonese food.
One of the best Chinese Restaurants in Brisbane- very affordable.. Must say that Stir Fry Cafe is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Brisbane- it's simple, authentic and very affordable.
I dine here very regularly and the food I get is always of high quality.
You will know that it is a good restaurant (authentic) as many Asians drive all the way just to dine here (including myself). They also have a Chinese menu if you are looking for something exotic.
Do try their Crispy Spare Ribs with their special sauce (you will need to ask the waiter/waitress as this is off the Chinese menu), Salt and Pepper Crab, Tofu with oyster sauce, Bean Curd soup & Hot and Sour Soup.
So happy. Thank you Stir Fry Cafe! So good to find takeaway Chinese food that has plenty of fresh vegies amongst the meat dishes! The chicken and beef are cooked perfectly. It's all very authentic, very friendly and I'm so lucky it's my local Chinese restaurant.
Authentic. Highly recommended place, request chef for authentic Chinese cuisine dishes.
Great food and definitely worth the money.
The service is alright... I thought that they were a little bit too rushed.
Food came out really quickly, and my family loved them! I can't remember the exact names, but what we ordered were scallops with crab meat sauce, mongolian lamb, mapo tofu, fried vegetable and fried rice.
Sauce of mongolian lamb is absolutely amazing and would definitely eat it again. Others were very good as well, but for Mapo Tofu, it was a little bit salty for my liking. It was still good, and I tend to have less salt with my food, so I think it's just me.
Fried rice, it was pretty good, but I had better ones in the past.
They also gave us slices of orange after finishing our meal, so it was great way to finish our dinner.
will definitely be back again
Been dining here for over a decade. The Cantonese Style food is very good. Service could improve with an extra wait staff.
Fantastic family Chinese food. Having with regular customers. Crab and noodles was the pick of dishes tonight but try sweet and sour pork and seafood tofu soup to start. Finish with deep fried ice cream 🍨
Authentic Traditional Chinese dishes, reasonably priced and friendly Asian aunties. Good local gem for a Chinese dinner/lunch
When it comes to suburban restaurants, Stir Fry Cafe tucked away in Jindalee is somewhat austere. So don't let this minimalist appearance fool you as the range and quality of the food is outstanding. The menu provides for most tastes, the dish sizes are more than good but the flavours are a joy to the sensors. The staff (and owner) are quiet and humble but deliver a service level that can not be faulted.
For outstanding Asian cuisine at a very reasonable price in a location with plenty of parking, do yourself a favour and enjoy the experience with family and friends.
We love the Stir Fry Cafe for both dine in and take away. The family favourite is Deep Fried Tasty Beef and it is used as one of the standard dishes if we have guests at home or simply order for ourselves. The service is always quick and friendly. The prices are moderate. You can't go wrong here!
Joined some church friends for lunch here one Sunday, with one particular regular customer ordering for our group. We enjoyed an 8-course meal, including some off-menu items. I’m not sure of the exact menu listing names, but we had:
* soup
* braised pork belly with preserved mustard greens (梅菜扣肉)
* chicken
* mandarin beef
* yong tau foo
* another tofu dish
* deep fried (boneless) duck in plum sauce
* vegetables
Total bill for 19 adults and 9 children was $600, which works out to about $25 per adult equivalent.
Standouts for me were the pork and the duck. The pork dish is a Chinese staple though not something I’ve had for some time, so it was a happy reacquaintance with the taste. I loved that the duck was boneless, making it really easy to eat and rather moreish. Would definitely be keen to have it again!
Fast and good food, very reasonably priced too. The weekends tend to be very busy so best to reserve places especially if it’s a big group. Saw lots of people taking away from here as well - must be a local gem!
Loved the yang chow fried rice, braised beef in clay pot and the Yong tau fu. Seriously delicious!
It's a very low profile restaurant offering very home-styled traditional dishes which the taste may not appreciate the everyone. Considering the prices, still worth to try. Restaurant gave all tables a plate of sliced watermelon as thank you gesture when I went there last week!
