Review Bowen Arrow Cafe - Brisbane

Simone Kiem
I adore this place. This is my colleague and Is local for brunch on our breaks. They cafe staff are absolutely wonderful and the food is always delicious. My Goto for a quick bite is either a garlic bagel with butter or a blueberry bagel with strawberry jam and cream cheese. For more lux meals my faves are the French toast, Mi Gorang and the Chicky Waffle 🤤 Always good for a Chai Latte as well.

Okay cafe, drinks were good but eggs benedict was very basic, not what I would pay for in a cafe. Also ordered the big breakfast which used canned mushrooms.

A great little cafe environment! A painting of Jimi Hendrix is on the far wall! Excellent quick delicious meals & delightful coffee! Seating is outside as well! Very close to the Bowen Hills train Station! Wheelchair access to the cafe is available!

I believe I came in when they were understaffed, however the coffee I ordered arrived incredibly quickly and the person who served me was charming. The cafe has a cute, industrial feel. Meal prices are between $10 - $20, which isnt unusual for a small cafe like this. Cute place.

Terrible coffee. Have ordered 3 soy coffees now hoping for a miracle each time. First 2 times it was weak and somewhat bitter, so today I ordered double shot, but it was so bitter that it was barely drinkable.bacon & rolls are Ok.

Incredible coffee made by Lexis! Also the gf bagels are so good :)

Poor food, coffee and service. Quality of this Cafe has dropped astonishingly. Cafe is always closed or on reduced hours. Kitchen is closed more days than it's open or never have ingredients in stock to make the full meal asked for

My partner and I had brunch at Bowen Arrow Cafe yesterday. I had the Smoked Salmon bagel (poppy seed) and my partner had the chicken schnitzel wrap. The food was ok, I found the bagel could have been a bit more toasted. We each had a coffee (latte and iced latte) which were fantastic.

I regretfully give this little cafe 2 stars. I ordered a bacon, egg and bbq bap and it wasn’t very nice. There was too much sauce all over it and it had a horrible taste. The coffee was just okay. The staff seemed okay and the atmosphere was fine.

2 star for the price versus the quality of food. Not just this cafe (I actually enjoyed some of their meals) but all the restaurants here in Brisbane.
Had to do 3 months business trip and ended up staying in a nearby hotel. Bowen Arrow seems to be the only handy place if I want to grab something quickly. Coming from Sydney the restaurant food pricing here in Brisbane surprises me! I would expect the food would be cheaper but instead there is no difference to Sydney’s price ( feel sorry for the Brissy people) and then again I would expect the food quality to be as good as how much it costs but sadly that’s not always the case. Or maybe I just kept going to the wrong places. (Would love to hear some recommendations near Bowen Hills)

Anyways, nice try Bowen Arrow. Sorry I had to pick you to give this review..

Shocking experience was had here for breakfast. Nothing wrong with the service we were bought water etc & served quickly with politeness. The food alas was another matter!! The avocado smash was a bright green colour & tasted so acidic I couldn't eat it. I think they let rip with the balsamic!!! Not only that what really turned me off was the state of the leaves they used as a garnish. If you can't find any fresh leaf please leave it off. The sight of those yellowing leaves were enough to turn anyone off. Then the partner cut open his bagel & the brown edged lettuce leaves were staring back at him! Not a good sight. Coffee was OK we ordered double shots, but there was a huge amount of foam on both cups. Taste was good as the blend was Aromas

Located at a prime position situated at the junction of Brooke Street and Campbell Street. Venue is quite large, spacious with high ceiling that shapes a cosy vibe. Explored this morning (it is always easy to do it on Sat morning due to parking issue). Ordered a flat white and a Brioche bun with smoked salmon. Service was very friendly and it did not take a long time to have my orders on the table. First sip of Aroma coffee brew reflected that it did not satisfy my expectation due to the fact of weak strength. Nothing wrong with the barista but just individual opinion. Next, first bite of the burger delivered the sense of dryness. That remind me about the bun that I had at the Artie & Mia@Albion, which was so soft like a steamed bun. Uncovered the top of the burger and discovered there was not enough capers but lots rocket and I guessed that was the reason of lack of saltiness in the whole burger. In addition, may I suggest to have a touch of olive oil on the smoked salmon that will bring the whole lot to next level.

Had a pleasant enough experience here. The hollandaise sauce was probs not my finest or tastiest experience, but hey it was not a bad breakfast. The servings weren’t pissy or small as alluded to in previous posts.

The food is usually reasonable at the Bow & Arrow cafe, but sadly when the service is a little off and there's a fly in your overpriced bottle of orange juice you begin to wonder why you just didn't choose the cheaper and as good quality Japanese joint around the corner. While I've lunched at this cafe a few times, I've often noticed the lack of patrons here, and today I figured it out. It's the price, the oddly vague and mistimed service where the food comes out well before the cutlery does. For a place to have so few customers on a Friday near two very large employers tends to speak volumes. Come on Bow & Arrow, the food is good, but it's time to hit the bullseye.

While it was a busy time of the day, just after the morning peak, the service was slow, & the coffee was bitter & ordinary, won't be going back.

I have only had coffee here three times however each time I've tried the coffee has been burnt. The cafe does have a nice atmosphere though which is why it was so unfortunate. They also did have a good selection of dairy alternatives too.

Come due to close proximity to work ever though it's hit and miss and usually miss! Today coffees for our group were lukewarm and only one staff member was serving customers and cooking food! We watched the dockets pile out of the machines while they served water to tables, I'm sure they would rather had you cooking their food. If there is a massive delay with food communicate!!!!

The Bowen Arrow cafe is my favoutite cafe in Brisbane. I don't live close by but travel the extra bit because of the amazing coffee and the staff are always so lovely to me. The new chef does an amazing job with the food and it always has a nice atmosphere inside for dining in. Always have the best service and food is served quickly with quality. I get one of the vegan treats everytime i go because they are even more delicous than most cakes and are a guilt free pleasure.

The staff are lovely and the coffee is ok but the food is terrible. I keep going back due to the close proximity to where I live but every single time I'm disappointed. I have to give up now because it's clear the food is never going to improve.

My new work local. Three visits so far and three great coffees and great service. Look forward to many more ☕️☕️😀. Will be recommending it to others.

Have been here a couple of times and the service was great. The hot chocolate and juice was great and would definitely go back for that. However I had the zucchini & potato hash salad for lunch and it was more a deconstructed salad and it was very bland. Won't be having lunch there again but will try for breakfast.

Food 2/5
Service 4/5
Atmosphere 4/5

Great service and a nice place to relax with plenty of room. Coffee has gotten really good too. But the food standard has dropped drastically since they replaced the cook. The big breakfast ($19) used to be so appetising and great tasting! Now it doesn't look great for the value of money. A small piece of mushroom, tasteless sausages, terrible looking fried egg on top. Bring the old cook back!

Worst eggs Benedict I've ever had. Meal took 40 mins to come, 20 of which I could see my meal sitting on the counter waiting to be served whilst it went cold. Even if the meal hadn't of been stone cold it still would have been terrible, extremely meagre portion of hollandaise and the poached eggs were served hard boiled on a piece of chewy stale toast. Coffee was alright though hahahahahaha

Perfectly brewed coffee and the 'Messy Benny' is the best bagel I have ever eaten! Staff friendly and we did not have to wait long for our meals.

There's no other place for your morning coffee! These guys are amazing. Great coffee. Great staff and the best start to any morning! thanks team Tracy

Eggs Bene was yum! The hollandaise wasn't as heavy as some you get, and it had a lovely spiced flavour to it! My partner had breakfast chilli which he really enjoyed. Great value for money. Only downside was they had a few juices on their menu but only had 1 flavoured available as they came bottle. Shame it wasn't fresh juices.

This is an absolutely bangin' wee cafĂŠ - the only good thing about Brisbane when I visited here a few months back. People, get yourself a morning brew from the Bowen Arrow

The hollandaise on this Eggs Benedict was delicious and I chose to add a side of avocado. Service was great so overall I had a good experience.

Lovely coffee and delicious breakfast at this new cafe. Will definitely be returning in the near future!

I got the "Bro Breakfast" pictured. It's a weekly special so it'll be interesting to see how these change over time. I also had my eyes on a banana and Nutella bagel! I think that'll be my choice for next time.

Coffee really wasn't great which was a shame, but they do smoothies and juices so there are other options available. The meals were good though; I had the the smashed avocado on toast with the cashew cream and feta. Would definitely recommended trying those... They also do bagels and acai bowls which I know will be popular among some. Staff were really lovely.

Bowen Arrow Cafe appealed to me not only for their great name and location but their food looked healthy, clean and fresh. Bowen Arrow opened around two months ago and is situated in bustling Bowen Hills. The menu was simple with a twist! It had all of the traditional brekky items with a little bit of something different. They offered a large variety of bagels so I decided to give them a try and had the “Bacon and Egg Bagel” with rocket and a tomato relish which you choose out of white, poppy seed, rye and one other option i cannot remember! I decided on the Rye and was not disappointed it came smothered in sunflower seeds and was very tasty!

Dramanti is great coffee but your baristas don't seem to know how to produce the best from the beans. I've had six or so coffees from Bowen Arrow and they've all been weak with a funky aftertaste. It's terribly disappointing given the area desperately needs a good coffee outlet. Menu has some good healthy options but is too limited, especially at lunchtime.
