Review East West Food - Brisbane

I bought lunch here on a midday. The service was fast and “to the point” - meaning there was no greeting but more like “ what are you looking for”. I did not mind this. Their sushi are above average with some interesting flavor combinations and wide variety. I had the fresh salmon, spicy chicken, California, tempura prawn and eel and avocado. The latter was magnificent and it is one of the few places in the city that sell eel sushi in the take-away format. Their prices are not the cheapest compared to other food establishments in the city.

Delicious sushi 🍣, efficient service. Very popular, with a good location at the entrance to the food court. Two sushi rolls always make a satisfying meal for lunch. Good prices too ($3-3.30 per sushi roll).

Love there sushi. Place to go if in the Myer centre. Always fresh. Staff friendly

i asked for a plastic bag for the two packs of sushi i bought ,my hands were full,but the counter lady didn’t wanna help me to put the food in the bag,instead she just put the bag near the food ,rolled her eyes and said “next please “ while there weren’t even anyone waiting!

Poor customer service! Standing at the counter for 5 minutes waiting (only customer) with 4 girls working who saw me and didnt acknowledge me...finally one of them looked at me, rolled her eyes and came over. At that point I left to buy sushi elsewhere. Disappointed.

Rudest people I have seen in Myer centre this is last time I buy anything there curry was dry and they put prices up and got smaller containers and last time asked for money back after they took the katsu chicken out of a plastic bag on counter and it was room temp they can't even say Thank you don't waste your time and money...

I love there food, but their customer service is TERRIBLE. If you ask for a bag they throw one at you across the counter.. BAD...

I didn't have an issue with the service at all. Plus the food was great and didn't cost a million dollars.

I love the Karaage Chicken Rice. But the real problem is the customer service.<br/>I don't ask them to be energetic but at least be happier or smile, and talk louder and more polite to the customers, will you? Just a simple thanks, a smile or talk more polite to the customer is so hard? I also work at a food court but I never thought there would be a place in the city could be this bad. I visit many times just because of the Karaage Chicken, but seeing them makes me extremely disappointed, never change, they make me feel like they don't want the customers at all, especially the girl wearing glasses. I'm not trying to be rude but this needs to change. Now I find another food court to eat instead of this place.

It's not going to be much of a review here, with so little to discuss about it. What we have here is another Japanese takeaway, one that is free-standing in the food court in the Myer Center that is more or less there to be serving the usual fast food associated with Japanese takeaway - the curries, some sushi, a few bits and bobs et al. Usually there is the benefit of the doubt when it comes to these places, as they are often reliable and cheap plus the food is half-decent, and a decent portion for the most part. That is not really the case here, as overall the real sentiment about EatWest Eats is .... "meh". <br/><br/>Getting here, it was between work and going on to do some weight training. That meant finding something to eat that was preferably hot, definitely on the cheap side, and not wanting to default to some kind of fast food. This led me to the Myer Center, walking through and pondering each option weighing up the possibilities. When I saw here I paused for a bit sussing it out. Low on cash at the time, and wanting something substantial - after a couple of minutes I went up to the counter. It was around that time that the stuff was getting cleared to go, so it was a-steal then. <br/><br/>It is here that there are gripes. Service doesn't need to much when it comes to the food court, and the fast food places, but what is needed is an understanding of fundamental aspects with customer service. When it looked like no one was going to come to the counter, I was going to give it a minute before voting with my feet; with about three different young ladies behind the counter, they all seemed interested in doing some other menial work and not attending to an order. Even then, it was kind of apparent that she did not want to be there. Aside from that, the process is really quick - just point out what looks good from the hot box, pay up and you are good to go. Would it really be that hard? <br/><br/>All the food is ready to go, and is generally Japanese. It has a lot of ready-to-go meals, most of them the donburi variety. Bits and bobs are here and there, including several varieties of sushi, hot tempura bits, and dumplings. Mostly just take away stuff, noting special, and good for a quick lunch break. <br/><br/>So what I got was a Japanese chicken curry, and a pork bun on the side. The curry was alright. It is hard to do a Japanese chicken curry wrong, and this was still good but considerably weak for a curry. Bits of chicken were a little limp, lacked the crunch of being fried and kind of went soggy in the sauce instead. Also, the balance of sauce and rice was all off. There was not too much sauce, so it was a little dry in parts as as whole. The thick curry was nice, and had a slightly spicy sauce, but overall so many other places just one or two blocks away will do the trick next time instead. For the pork bun though, still tasty. Warm dough, and a good, thick, soupy pork mixture will always make for a good little snack. <br/><br/>Not much is to be expected with being right in the food court, and certainly not the best looking of the places. East West Food is essentially under the banner of being "it is what it is", and is possibly the pinnacle of that term. As a result, this is definitely going to be a one off as there is not anything about it that will lead me to here in the future, and there is not anything about it that makes it stand out from the numerous options that are in the food court alone.
