Great food. Very fast service. Immaculately clean. Bit funny to hear Korean spoken in a Japanese restaurant! Well done great spot.

Prices are over yhe roof. 7$ for a nigiri

I love this place. Best sushi ever and wonderful service. If you're looking for something a bit upmarket, yes nearby Hatori is good, but for easy takeaway lunch or dinner - this is my go-to-Japanese! YUM!

The sushi is fresh and the filling tastes great. I’ve just tried the chicken curry Katsu and I’ll definitely be eating it again. The katsu curry price is reasonable as well, seriously recommend this place if you’re looking for a good meal. 5 stars across the board

The takeaway food is ok but the size of it is just ridiculous! It maybe enough for a child. I'm a 62 kilogram man and eat a little but this size makes me even more hungry. For instance for this price all Indians give minimum double or more.

Friendly staff. The food is ok but nothing special, I didn’t mind the chicken teriyaki bowl and they weren’t stingy with the vegetables. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here.

Sushi rolls were tasty, but definitely way overpriced for the portion served.  We had the karaage rice bowl as well, chicken pieces were really tough so were the batter. Wish we read through other reviews before we decided to dine in but we were starving. It looked like the chicken curry would have been the better option. That said the waitstaff were really lovely which kinda made up for the disappointing meal.

Disappointed with the sushi rolls - very thin and over priced. $6 for the skinniest sushi rolls!! Might go back and try the rice dishes as the other reviewers mentioned... maybe...

Great little Japanese restaurant in Samuel St. The food was fresh and delicious, and the wait staff attentive and friendly. The Katsu curry (ordered with extra meat) was delightful and the takoyaki were equally as delicious. They also sell my favourite ice tea (Pokka Peach) which is fantastic!

In Samuel Village, an array of smaller eateries are nestled side-to-side, with Sushi Hanabi perhaps being the most shy of them. Well, not too much to the narrative other than it is one of the many cheap Japanese eateries that is scattered around town. If you are feeling like something cheap, but aren't keen on compromising quality all that much, they have their place. As is the case with Sushi Hanabi. <br/><br/>For getting here, my house mate had a bet on a major, recent election, saying that if a certain person won it, he would go out and have a Japanese curry. Well, that person did win and he kept true to the word, so here we are having a meal. That is about the tail end of it, and nothing more controversial to talk about here. Let's get onto the eatery. <br/><br/>The design is really simple. It is basically just one room, behind the classic sliding glass door, and there is that charactersitic minimalism that Japanese restaurants are able to do. That is that is is not boring per se, and a few minutiae are around the place, here and there. It mostly goes for the black aesthetic, with figurines around the place, and low-hanging lights. The decoration and whole place would be in place wherever it was chosen to be - that is how simple, and how charming it is as a result. <br/><br/>Service, all that has to be said is it is quick, polite and on-cue. <br/><br/>The menu is pretty straightforward and contains most of what is to be expected. There is a big range of sushi types, with long rolls, maki sushi, nigiri, hand rolls, and quite the impressive range of fusion rolls - all this is able to be put onto party platters at a moment's notice. Much like most sushi places, a whole heap of sides dishes such as karage and gyoza are also available, as well as a good range of main meals - don buri dishes and noodles. Yeah, all of it is more of the same with casual Japanese eating. <br/><br/>True to his word, my dining buddy went for the chicken curry. None other than the classical chicken katsu. This is always a good choice, one that is pretty cheap and reliable, and in the end you do know what you are going in for. I nicked a piece of chicken from his bowl (with some of the curry sauce still on), and it was crispy - a big lot of coating - and the chicken meat was tender. So, pretty much good and what is to be expected. <br/><br/>For my meal, I went with a don katsu, which is in the similar vein. There was the crumbed pork fillet, which was drizzled with a combination of Japanese mayonnaise and barbecue sauce. This was on a bed of rice, in addition to a side of some pickles. It was just as tasty, and was well-balanced with the ingredients. The cut of pork was incredibly generous, with tender meat, a good crumbed coating that had the flavours of soy and ginger in it, plus the mixture of Japanese mayonnaise and barbecue sauce was delicious - it is hard to describe what about Japanese mayonnaise distinguishes it from other mayonnaise; that possibly has something to do with the flavour, and even the texture. Overall, another really simple, and ultimately delicious dish. Not much to alter, or to describe, and it works a treat every time. <br/><br/>In addition to the don katsu, I got a couple of things on the side. Both are staples, and ones I tend to end up eating anyhow - they were a bowl of miso soup, which is always a nice extra, and to share as an appetiser, a serving of takoyaki. This time around, the miso soup was served with a soup spoon - but I know why I have liked this since the first time, you get to drink it like tea. As per usual, there is not really a lot to talk about with miso soup other than it was piping hot - a definite plus - and it has slight flavours of tofu in it. The serving size was generous, and it worked as something extra on the side. <br/><br/>As with the takoyaki, it has not let me down yet. It might have even been a tad better than most here, since the octopus was definitely present and that part of it was tender and sweet. The batter was hot, the characteristic sauce was thick and delicious as per usual, these little morsels of food were undeniably tasty, and they made for a great side to plump up the meal further. <br/><br/>The end consensus with Sushi Hanabi is that it is as good as it can get. At the end of the day, it is another one of these holes-in-the-wall which does put in a bit of effort in certain places, and gets a bit of a vibe going on. Because of that, a rating of 4.0 is a good enough indication for the quality of the meal that you are going to get here.

I had the Pork Katsu Curry, which was lovely. My friend had the Katsu Don and Miso Soup, which he also enjoyed. Hey, it is what it is. It is a good simple takeaway, that serves generous and well priced meals, suitable for a quick sit down in their air conditioned premises or take away. I would definitely add this place to my options, when I need a night's break fro cooking. And seriously, who doesn't like Japanese cooking?

We wanted to like it...really!<br/>This restaurant is just up the road from us. We love Japanese food so we thought we'd give it a go - cheap and cheerful and just up the road. What could go wrong right?<br/>First alarm bells wih edamame. Some cold and semi frozen, some warm. Ok...<br/>Next gyoza. I personally have never seen gyoza that look like these. Little rectangles. Super deep fried, not drained, and no idea what was inside them. Big alarm bells.<br/>Tempura. Ok it's difficult to make but that's why you have it when you are out. Try frozen packet crumbed prawns that you get from the supermarket. I'm sorry but that is disgraceful for a restaurant to serve that to paying customers. <br/>Hopefully the teriyaki chicken will save them?? Nearly. At least it seemed like it was freshly made. The shelf bought bottle made sauce was sugary but tasted ok. Sesame seeds were a redeeming feature.<br/>I simply cannot understand why a restaurant would think this stuff is passable. Ok it was a $42 meal for 2 so it's not fine dining but please don't serve us stuff from the frozen aisle in Coles.<br/>Not surprisingly they are pretty quiet on a Saturday night. Any alarm bells?<br/>

Great quality sushi, go there nearly everyday to get their chicken Katsura curry. Good portions and friendly family restaurant provides comforting service. MUST GO definitely recommended.

First time at Hanabi Sushi. I ordered the evergreen Katsu Chicken Curry. Larger than normal serve, chicken was flavoured really well, nicely cooked and tasty. <br/><br/>Staff are friendly and service is prompt when bring meals and drinks to the table. <br/><br/>We are moving to the area soon so it's nice to find these places close by.

I visit sushi hanabi at least once a week. The sushi is always fresh, staff are always friendly, decent pricing and very prompt service. If you are in the area and looking for decent sushi, then give this place a go :)

I just had sushi for lunch and haven't tried Hanabi's larger meals yet. The sushi is freshly made on the premises. It is not the best I've ever had but it is okay. The nori seemed a little tough which meant it was difficult to bite into and the sushi fell apart. This doesn't usual happen to me. The flavours were good and there was plenty of lovely salmon in the salmon sushi. Give it a go if you are in the area and make up your own mind.

I ate here the udon noodles it is not excellent It may be much better if they have traditional japanese style an also is a little expensive if they have cheap sushi they will be rich the udon Is too expensive it is 13? Dollars I think that is too much if it is 5 dollars I will come every day!! They have a good range I have not tried everything but I will be back
