Tried their dinner buffet last weekend, the chicken wings with BBQ sauce and the special fried noodle impressed me a lot!!! The black bean beef were nice too! Will be back again.

The food was horrible. Spent $46 & recieved 2 containers of food that had maximum of 2 tablespoons of sauce, Satay chicken was watery and flavourless, the "Special" fried rice had no flavour and we counted 9 tiny pieces of carrot and 12 peas and small crumbles of egg with NO small shrimp or red sliced pork on top like the expected traditional Chinese X-Large Special fried rice, the Lemon chicken was soggy and there was no sauce to pour over it. We miss the old owners, they were consistent and KNEW how to cook Chinese food! We will never go there again.

Ordered takeaway last night, found out when we got there that there was new owners, been going there 20 years. Very disappointed ,used to be the best Chinese around now I think it’s the worst, food had no flavour, seafood dishes had 3 muscles and a couple of prawns and just plain noodles, Mongolian lamb small and no spice, ordered fried rice but didn’t get it ,told it would be another 20 min after we ordered 1 and half hours earlier. Won’t be back

Ordered combination omelette. Got something with no taste, 3 baby prawns a few pees. I have had many omelettes with real eggs, what i got from Gum Do was uniformed in depth (thin) Tasteless rubber that was cut into squares. This is the first ever omelette that i have had that left me still hungry.

We ordered take away and were told it would be 15 min. 1.5 hours later we received cold, disgusting food. No gravy on the omelette, no vegetables in the chicken chow mein, all
entrees fried to death and inedible. We'll never be back.

I ordered delivery and the estimated time continuously changed and we received the food 1hr and 20mins after ordering. The dim sims were shocking, Mongolian beef was ok but chicken cashew had about 3 pieces of chicken in it.

Absolutely disgusting meal last night. Waited 1 hour for the worst Chinese we’ve ever had. Ordered spicy chicken and a spicy beef. Must be new owners - would NOT recommend !!!

Gum Do just isn't the same. Wontons were dry with hardly any meat, fried rice with no shrimp or chicken like it used to have. Doesn't live up to what it used to- must be new owners. Honey chicken was nice though.

Good food, great special fried rice, average chinese food prices. Customer service is fantastic, great little family run restaurant in the suburbs. Not that appealing to eat in, however the food would be worth it. Great takeaway option.

Gum Do, Thank You. The Combination Laksa which is served daily from the hallowed halls of Gum Do Mitchelton is both a nectar and staple of the gods. At one time in history, all of the various gods, from Chinese to Greek and in between, sat down to a tantalizing broth of Gum Do's Combination Laksa. All were happy to be served such fine cuisine, but unfortunately a fight broke out over which god would slurp down the largest bowl of this soupy delight. The fight which ensued doomed all of humanity to mortal lives, but with one twist; we mere humans can taste Gum Do's Combination Laksa for the duration of our petty lives. We humans will know that each mouthful is all the more delicious, as our Laksa slurping time will unfortunately, end one day.

Excellent fried rice. This is one of the few Chinese restaurants that actually do proper fried rice! I have tried some of the other dishes- which were reasonably priced and delicious. The Special Fried Rice is the winner! The restaurant ambiance is not crash hot- but who cares? The staff are efficient and courteous and accurate with timings - I hate it when 10 minutes turns into 20! Well done Gum Do!

I have a clinic across the road & eat lunch menu once a week. The portions are generous and authentic chicken, lamb, beef, & veggies, I see the preparation on different days. <br/><br/>These folks have been part of Mitchelton village 17 years.. So that says a lot in today's business climate.<br/><br/>Enjoy authentic, Chinese food.. Dr Kevin

Yeah pretty terrible. Everything drowning in oil and msg, felt sick afterwards. They're using textured soybean protein instead of meat. Give this place a miss for your health's sake.

Unreal!. I cannot believe these reviews! The food here is well-cooked and tasty, but that cannot change the fact that the meat (both chicken and beef) is textured soy protein. It is NOT real. Frankly, it should be illegal.

Tasty food and great value. We've been a customer for over 2 years. The food is great, cheap and the serving sizes are large enough to take leftovers for lunch the next day. The place is more a take away place than a sit down restaurant. The service is quick. Highly recommended!!

Best Chinese Take-Away. I have been buying take away from this restaurant for quite a few years now and am surprised there are no previous reviews. They are not ideal for eat in but a perfect option for take away. Quality food, large portions, reasonable prices, quick service, how could you go wrong. With my many purchases of this restaurant I have never had anything negative to critique them on, and they are personable when they recognise you. My personal favorites are the chow mains, (any, as they are all superb) and the combination noodle soup which includes pretty much everything, prawns, several types of meat, a wide array of vegetables, delicious noodles in a tasty soup that I make sure I never waste any of. Extremely highly reccomended. These people deserve the business. Nothing but quality.
