Review Jai Thai Toowong - Brisbane

Simon Gamble
Beware...I had been for a few massages there and thought it was a good place. Last time I had made a booking and expected a traditional Thai massage but she attempted to give me something extra and I was not cool with it. I know some blokes are into that but I am not and don't want someone who has been jerking people off all day rubbing their hands all over me. Absolutely disgusting! I will never go there again and I hope they get busted.

Last visit I had seen little cockroaches running around on the floor, you guys should get that cleaned up because that is nasty. Your food is barely above average, Gordon Ramsay would tell you guys to shut it down its that bad. It tastes like bad attitude from the kitchen, theres a reason why you people are dead and quiet, And this is it. but seriously you should go and get your restaurant professionally exterminated.

Whilst not terrible, the food wasn't anything to write home about either.

The staff were friendly enough but didn't have a particularly good handle on the english language, which would have helped save some time.

The surroundings were fairly average overall.

The biggest thing that stood out was the incredibly obvious use of frozen supermarket stir fry vegetables in the dishes. Were it not for that I'd bump things to a 3 but it really just didn't do the dishes any favours with soggy vegetables that watered the dishes overall down.

Tried roti served with peanut sauce, spring rolls and chicken pad Thai. Edible but not satisfied; nothing special-average food and average service.

There is a reason this place always looks dead and quiet.

Overpriced. Below average. Food NOT fresh.

Went in early and was the only table there. Still waited 45 minutes to be served food with frozen veges from coles. If i wanted frozen Veges I'd buy myself a $3 bag myself and cook it. Prawns did not taste fresh.

Not authentic & tasty thai food - this is coming from an asian.

Staff aren't the most polite either. Go elsewhere people.

Not only did the food take AGES to come out, and the food was insanely sweet, I ordered a vegetarian curry only to find chicken in it after having some.

I’m not a vegetarian purely on moral reasons, meat makes me very ill and has since I was a child. I spent the rest of the evening throwing up in the bathroom.

They offered no compensation, nor many apologies, for the horrible situation they put me through from pure carelessness on their part

Would not recommend on any level

Good service. The food came out pretty quickly. Entrees were a good size. We had the vegetarian Pad Thai and the Vegetarian Green Curry. Both were really delicious. Would definitely go back.

Good lunch specials! Food came out relatively quick and tasted just as expected. Had the Green beef curry mild. Beef a little tough but that's what I expect for $10. I can't eat a lot so set A was fine for me but probably not enough for others. Other dining companions enjoyed their roti in set b and c. Had the Thai Milk Tea which was good. Not a Thai expert but the price of it and what you get would bring me back regularly if I was a local.

This place is off the hook! Such lovely service and the ambience is great. I got the seafood Thai fried rice and I could not be happier with the quality. The chicken cashew stir fry is beautifully and equally cooked, with the cashew having such a strong but not overpowering taste.
Would definitely recommend if you're feeling Thai and in the Toowong area.

Have been here 3 times. Twice was ok but tonight was painfully slow whilst the kitchen was overrun with take away and what seemed to be uber eats style pick ups. Customers complaining and loudly sharing their discontent. The drinks took forever. Entree of spring rolls took 25 minutes. The mains came out nearly an hour after ordering and needed to be followed up. When the mains did arrive the order was wrong (as was another ta8ble's) but we were too tired and hungry to care. The waitress was apologetic when we complained but really there were too many orders, too much rushing in the kitchen, people hanging around everywhere waiting and unhappy... and all for a meal that wasn't what was requested.

I have eaten in lots of Thai restaurants but "Jai Thai Toowong" is just off the hook. Their fast service, AWESOME FRESH FOOD". This establishment gives me genuine - fresh Thai food. The people are professional and very inviting. I would recommend "Jai Thai Toowong".

Great Chef, Friendly Service and Nice Environment.

Tucked away in the Toowong village complex, this Thai restaurant has a lovely looking charm and decor, very modern and tables are well set in a comfortable environment. The menu reads well with a mix of classic dishes and fusion style added. For entree we choose a mix of old and new, salmon shots and pork skewers. Both we liked, the salmon shots had a real fun and flavorsome take, whilst the pork skewers were tasty and what I would expect.
Our mains consisted of a sizzling Seafood and a Roast duck Salmounphai , both was tasty and had typical Thai flavours. The problem we had with these dishes was the duck was over cooked and the sizzling seafood had a real lack of "seafood", lots of vegetables and sauces, but lacked what I was paying for !. A few of us had the fried ice cream, ok but not anything for me to be stealing a scoop or two from my partner. Overall it was ok and the staff seemed to be attentive, but really wanted everyone out when it got past 9.30pm. It was a school night (Thursday)but if you want customers back, let them sit back after the meal and enjoy a drink or three. Can do better this place in a few areas.

I have had better Thai food. This is the second time I have been to this place and it is yet to impress me.

I decided to give this place an another chance as they have shifted to a bigger place with better interiors.

The food definitely needs to improve. The menu boasts of a entree named Angels wings which was everything but tasty. The authentic Thai red curry was okay and the spicy fried rice could have been better. Service was good but food is served at snails pace.

Nice place to eat in being in the heart of Toowong, but the food was average unfortunately. Plain and bland. I've tried to give Jai Thai a few chances but has never impressed me.

Just terrible. Tamarind duck was like rubber, the other 3 dishes tasted and looked almost identical. And that was still awful.

Avoid at all costs, worst Thai I have ever had and plenty of competition.
