Review Haomen Chinese Bbq - Brisbane

The food was delicious. I recommend the 2 course roast duck, the tofu and the salted fish fried rice. The staffs was friendly and helpful, during our time dining there.

The pork buns and custard buns are the best in town! Top 3 yum cha place in Brisbane. However the service is not too great.

Ordered the dumplings, custard egg tarts, brisket, chicken feet, eggplant and prawn, hargou dumplings, combination dumplings, chicken steamed rice with ginger, calamari, rice noodles with prawn, taro cake, and vegetable dumplings. All tasted nice but the calamari had been sitting there for a while so it was quite chewy and we had ordered 2 servings.

The dim sims that we ordered , were very tasty. Chicken feet dish was good. The black bun with salt egg custard is a must try. It seemed the place is under staffed. Took a while for tea to be topped up?

After asking around for recommendations, we’re told to visit Haoke, for its dim sum. The location was a little tricky to find but nothing major. They sell a wide array of yum cha, Cantonese and Szechwan cuisine, and other Chinese dishes. Most dishes are affordably priced, and they open late, until 2am. Our favourite dishes were the massive and succulent XL Crab Roe Dim Sums and the Prawn Dumplings. Another nice dish that we tried was the Spare Ribs in Black Bean Sauce. Overall, the dim sum have lived up to their reputation. We’ll return to try their a la carte menu

Had yum cha session with some friends. We shared about a dozen different items and everything worked out to be about $17 per head which was fairly good value - we didn't go crazy, but neither did we leave hungry... pretty much a Goldilocks level of just right. Highlight of the meal was this black (charcoal?) version of the 流沙包 (runny egg custard bun aka lava bun) which was perfectly executed - light fluffy bun encasing a rich, oozy molten mess of hot salted egg custard. Not sure of the price, but definitely worth trying. I'd suggest either taking a few small, gingerly bites to begin with, or tear open carefully. Noticed that the restaurant also has a new-ish bubble tea/yoghurt drinks stall (Happen Tea)! Didn't get any this time but will definitely keep in mind to try out next time.

We missed the Yum Cha very much. Hopefully, they are back in business soon. The place speaks for itself. Without reserving a table, one may have to wait for a vacant table. The business is so good. So do the Yum Cha!

I found the spicy wok chicken was one of the best meals I've had in years, flavour was unbelievable. The steamed barramundi was also cooked to perfection, had the deep fried white bait and so impressed with those. Would highly recommend this restaurant and those dishes.

The recall of the episode of my last Christmas brekkie @ the Chatterbox Sunnybank that brings along the episode of Christmas lunch for Yum Cha at this restaurant.<br/>We arrived around 11:30am to avoid the crowd. At that moment, there was only a quarter of tables being occupied but the dining room filled out very quick before we left.<br/>Dim Sims standard have been much improved (as the reason for our re-visit) but we missed those cute-shape dim sim as described from our friends. However, this restaurant did not let us down at all.<br/>Previous rating: Sep 2019 5/5; Jan 2019 4.5/5; May 2018 4/4

We used to come to this place for yum cha lunch frequently - however since about 2 years ago the price for any prawn dish have doubled and it is now becoming very expensive so we only visit once in a while - the taste of food is still good and you can still order non-prawn dish (e.g pork ribs, beef balls, chicken feet) at reasonable price. However if you order a few prawn dishes don’t be shocked at check out.

Food is pretty good, we like to come here for the yum Cha. However when we do, it feels like there are not enough car parks.<br/><br/>But in terms of the restaurant, the food isn’t that bad. Yum Cha everywhere is getting pricier, but this place is a bit above average.<br/><br/>Never realised until recently but there are small rooms upstairs that can host eg family dinners with a large lazy Susan if you would like to book them

I came here for my birthday with a group of seven others. Food was good but overal, the rude service kinda ruined our experience. Despite the waiter at the counter saying it was only going to be a 15 min wait, we had to wait for over an hour for a table. Initially, we were ok with this but it started to get a bit ridiculous when we had to wait another 40 mins to get served, noting that it wasn't even super busy, and that there were plenty of staff around. Because it was taking so long for the food to get to us, we asked if we could order and they said they didn't take orders? The waiters/waitresses all looked a bit irritated, one of the trolley ladies were even a bit aggressive when i walked over to her to ask for water, i felt a bit uninvited to be there and will not be coming back.

Nice place for dimsum. Love the ambience of the restaurant . The food served are really nice too . First time trying dimsum in Brisbane area and it was really yummy that we ordered too much 😆 but satisfied from eating a lot of it since had craved for dimsum for quite some time .
Trivial
Nice traditional Chinese restaurant ambience. The food is pretty good and there is a wide variety available on the menu. There are also lots of seating, especially for large groups. However this restaurant is way too expensive for what is offerred - might as well go to other better places at Sunnybank.

Most of their food is good. The service is not up to standard. When we first arrived, the counter staff told us that it would be 20-30 minutes wait which was surprisingly long, when they could just cleaned up tables, we waited anyways in roughly 10 minutes. It took almost another 5 minutes to get a staff 's attention even though the restaurant was not busy. The food came very slowly in which only 1 or 2 dishes in every 10 minutes, and they even forgot one dish from our order. <br/>The most upsetting part is tap water got charged $3 for 2 people. When we came in, it was about 11.45pm Thursday and when we checked out at 12.35am, they put an extra 15% because of Good Friday. I understand the surcharge is normal but a bit of notice would be nice.
SA APD
Very positive about the food, i have tried different stir fry's satay chicken , XO stir fry chicken the absolute favourite's have tried Kung po also good and the curry witch was tasty as well.
Yumosumo
Food is inconsistent. Meat was undercooked. What was consistent was the bad and lack of service. Would give it -5 if I could. Checked the receipt when we got home and realised we were also overcharged on a dish we never ordered. Also they charge $2 per person for tea and tap water even if they are kids/children?! PLEASE CHECK YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE LEAVING or better yet just don’t go.
TheDreamLeaf
The waiters and waitresses were very friendly and accommodating of the fact that I couldn't speak mandarin. Better service than what I'd expected. The food similarly exceeded my expectations. Toilet hygiene was good too. I will definitely be returning and recommend it to anyone looking for yum cha.
Spice Dad
Great yumcha, probably in my top 3 Brisbane yum cha places. Really great dumplings and buns - just the tea itself was a bit lacking in fragrance (I don’t really care but I know some of you might 😅) nice big comfortable place too - great option if you’re in the area!
Shorty
Their yum cha and service is below average compare to other yum cha place in Brisbane but somehow I keep coming here due to its convenient location from my house and it's extended opening hours. Got there around 11pm on Saturday night after a long day at work and the restraunt was quite full with customers.<br/><br/>Service is of don't expect too much type of place but staff will attend to you if you ask. Had to ask about congee which took a while to come. It eventually came so all was good.<br/><br/>Food was okay but really nothing great. Steamed rice roll was the worst of all with dried shrimp and chunks of spring onions on top which was soggy and could not enjoy its texture.<br/><br/>Ok place for late night yum cha when there is no other options.
Patricia
Yum cha is pretty good here. I also enjoy their a la carte and dinner menus. Have been coming here for years and the food is consistently good!

The biggest issue with yum Cha is that the food is eaten before any photos can be taken 😂 <br/><br/>Dined in at 10:30am on a Sunday morning hoping to beat the rush. And we did! Table of 9 seated as soon as we arrived. <br/><br/>Carts of steamed and fried yum Cha dishes arrived promptly showing off their contents. <br/><br/>We dug through mountains of dim sum including har gow, Sui mai and xiao long bao (which has to be ordered off the menu). Also on our table were char siu baos, squid tentacles (msg laden and delicious), Cheong fan, spring rolls and chicken feet. <br/><br/>Mum got jook (congee/rice porridge) despite knowing that her homemade one is obviously better. We ordered ‘four treasure fried rice’ which was very far from a typical fried rice :( disappointed. <br/><br/>Although we were stuffed, it was an occasion so we proceeded to order the two course Peking duck. First course, pancakes. Yuuuuum. But they make them for you :( and their spring onion was cut very thick. Took mine off my pancake. <br/><br/>Second duck course you can choose between duck stir fried noodle or San Choy Bao (lettuce cups). We chose the lettuce cups for a lighter option. And they were delicious! My partner who had his first yum Cha experience on this occasion said it was his favourite dish. <br/><br/>Despite being full, we decided to get mango pudding to share. Yum. And ordered egg tarts to take away. Except they were fresh and warm so we devoured them on the spot. Oops. <br/><br/>Haoke is always our family’s go-to yum Cha restaurant. <br/><br/>Even tho once I asked for a table in English during a busy period and they told me it would be a 2 hour wait. So I got my Aunty to speak Cantonese and we were seated immediately??? <br/><br/>But the food is gooood. Would recommend.
Fiona Chen
Yum cha food is not bad, similar with others. and the price is cheap. However, service is bad. Food is good, but no one want to pay for bad service.
Fork 'n' Spoon
Came for Yum Cha on Sunday morning with a group of 5 friends. My friend booked the table for 10.45am! I'm like, why so early on a Sunday?? I arrived just after 11am and there already was a small queue at the entrance. So glad he did that!<br/>I gave my apologies for my lateness, as they already tucking into the bamboo baskets of dim sum.<br/>The chickens feet were so tasty, pretty close to the best I have eaten. The seafood offerings were plenty along with the usual buns and dumplings. I absolutely loved the egg tarts! OMG....soft egg curd filling and warm flaky pastry.<br/>I will definitely be back for more yum cha!
Michael Yin
Went to this restaurant because I heard it’s pretty good. Turned out to be okay food, but bad experience. While dining there was one customer who was angry towards the staff cuz he was charged 28 dollars for credit card surcharge. Also, no matter what you order (tea or water), the water will be charged 3 dollars each, which is ridiculous. Ended up spending close to 60 dollars for two for Yum Cha. Simply not worth it to come back.
Foodiebne
Incredibly disappointing. We placed our order at 6:42pm. 7:20 rolled around and they'd only served up the complementary soup. Other tables were being steadily served with all the expensive dishes (lobster/fish etc). We asked a staff member to check what had happened with our order - they never came back. Fed up, we went to the counter at 7:30 with the bill, basically saying "We're not waiting any longer. If you want us to pay for the tea and soup we'll pay but that's it." A waitress implored us that we should wait a little longer, but we refused, so she went in to speak to the manager as to what to do. They ended up saying that if we really had to leave, they'd just ask for $18 (for the 9 of us). Maddeningly, they had the audacity to even short change us $2. They never apologised once for anything. Customers shouldn't be punished simply for ordering regular items off the regular menu rather than ordering expensive items/set dinners, and certainly we'd expect an apology at the very least for poor service. Never coming back again. <br/>P.S I'm offended I even have to give this restaurant one star.

Yum cha menu Is ok, similar with others, better wait for 9pm, the price is better. Food and price is ok but the service is very very very very very very bad.

Yum cha - 8/10<br/>Peking duck - 7/10<br/>Other food - 7/10<br/>Price overall - $$$ expensive <br/>Service - 6/10<br/><br/>*** if you dine in after 8.30pm the price is cheap. <br/>Recommend to dine in after 8.30 pm for good food with more affordable price.
Dreamyeyes99t
Very expensive for the quality of food cooked. Better if they charged less. They even charged us for tap water!!! Waitstaff are extremely rude and clueless. They must get paid $10 an hour hence why they don't care about giving good service. Although good thing is they open until 1am or even perhaps longer.
Misscharlot
came here for yum cha at lunch time on a Sunday, was packed but luckily don't have to queue up for us. loving that there are carts they go everywhere so we can sit there and just point to order. there is only one thing we ordered and never see it comes back which is the sesame balls. (Jul, 2017)

Loved the yumcha/dim sum, especially if you're not the type of person who wants to wake up early for it. ;) They do a night service from 9pm - 2am!<br/><br/>The staples (shao mai and crystal prawn dumplings) are excellent, the egg tarts and other pastries are good as well (though I wish they would serve them hot). Special mention to the salted egg yolk buns - they are a bit sweeter than I expected, but rich and moreish, and not easily found outside of Asia.<br/><br/>Would highly recommend this place to night owls. Beware of ordering the prawn dishes as they are very expensive ($8.80 for 4 crystal prawn dumplings), but everything else is reasonably priced.
Julia Mawande
Love this place! Service is great and the prawn and chive dumplings are amazing!!! Definitely worth the drive out to the suburbs for it, cost was great too!
Dimitrionemail
Been here several times for both yum cha and ala carte and food has always been delicious. Thought it looked expensive at first but the total bill wasn't bad and we were all very full. Coconut jelly dessert was very nice also. I recommend you try this place.

Legit yum cha place in brisbane. Reasonable price. Better spend your brunch money on this place for dimsims and small dishes than your typical aveeage eggs Benedict you can practically find.everywhere. might be weird for people not that are not used to Chinese food. Definitely satisfying to eat something that reminds me of my home town.
Puffball
We have eaten here late at night a few times & each time i've left pretty disappointed. Most of the staff were rude & everytime we tried to grab their attention to ask for drinks/sauces/napkins etc etc they tried to ignore us. Food took forever to come out & portions were very small for the prices they are charging. We ended up cancelling several dishes as it was taking far too long to come out. On top of that there was a service fee of about $2 per person (Im unsure what kind of 'service' its for?). Have not been during the daytime yum cha so i cannot comment on that.
Tastes Like Regret
Went here with a large group of family. The place was a little empty on Thursday night. It looks subpar to other Yum Cha restaurants. However, I enjoyed the monkey movie that was on the screen... We ordered two Chinese banquets around $200 each. Makes for a special occasion. The food was impressive, and it really was a good quality banquet with delicious food. The meals were tasty, came out fast and service was good. It's just missing some pizzazz and atmosphere. Regret: I wanted Yum Cha but they only do it after 9pm.<br/><br/>*Update: went here for yum Cha, it was good!!
Huihuilee13
Went in for Yum Cha today and ordered siew mai (one of the steam dishes). It had a dead housefly on it! I flagged it to a waitress, she took it away and didn't replace the dish. She just strike off the dish and apologise and went off, as if nothing had happened. We were shocked by their response. We are regular customers and thought that their food was great but after today's experience, we won't be going back again. Please check your food before you consume. I really question their cleanliness.
Kan Do
Not impressed with their a la carte service.  The steamed fish was flavourless and the other dishes we ordered were pretty ordinary. Overpriced too. Won't be going back any time soon.
S.K
Was told by a friend that their yum cha is authentic - it is. The dinning environment is not too bad or too squishy. The service was not too bad as well. Overall a pleasant dinning experience.
Madam Oriental Eating.
The food is a hit and miss. Been here for yum cha as well as dinner as well as having take away and all below average. Service is the same at any chinese resturant. Don't have expectations. Food wise sometimes we were served cold left over food during yum cha. Omg the price I paid for a dinner dish one time was ridiculous as the dish itself was disgusting. Worst than food court! Again the only reason I would go here because it's close to home and I cbb driving to sunnybank and looking for parking.

Last weekend we booked a table for 30pp for a family gathering on fri for sunday yum cha, they took all my details and confirmed. All 30pp rocked up on sunday to find it was closed for renovation. No call from restaurant no apology. This restaurant is a joke with customer service do not go here and botcott it.
Christine
This is literally the rudest service I've ever had. The staff members have very bad attitude!! even the food is ok , it does not make up for its rude and ignorant services.
S Fingers
i've been there for yum cha ( small dishes) last weekend with my mates. been sitting  there for less  then an hour and one of the waiters said " hurry up", so we could clear up the table for a  new lot of people....................extremely bad customer services, we've ordered a hell lot for the first 30min then slowed down a bit and "got in trouble"
Franki Chan
Ridiculous service. Never going again. Charged us money for tea when we didn't order tea...<br/><br/>Deep fried squid soggy and cold....<br/><br/>Horrible service... Asked for soy sauce twice no body respond....<br/><br/>
Modaffections
Food is good, I always come here for yumcha and Peking roast duck. But everytime I come the service is horrible! Almost all of their staff need some good training on courtesy!
Danelle Lim Yun
The yum cha here is amazing!!! The salted custard bun, har gao and siu mai is amazing!!! We tried the egg tarts too, which were really great! I'd highly recommend a visit here! Do note, they only serve yum cha for lunch and after 9pm.
Tara Mack
Yum cha starts at 9pm and runs well past midnight. It is delicious, perfect for sharing and not too expensive (works out to be roughly $15pp for a decent feed). Quality of service varies depending on the night.
Suzie Lee
Best Yum Cha in Brisbane!<br/><br/>We turned up to this restaurant at lunch time on Sunday and it was full and there was a seemingly endless queue. Despite the queue we didn't have to wait long for a table and it was well worth the wait. We think that it was the best yum cha we've had in Brisbane. The servers were friendly and the dishes were all lovely - it was also very reasonably priced. I would certainly be happy to bring my Malaysian-Chinese mum here!! We'll be back to check out the dinner options!!
ThatSeriousGirl
Haoke Seafood Restaurant<br/><br/>Atmosphere: 5, your classic Chinese restaurant done up in red and gold.<br/><br/>Service: 5, your standard subpar service. <br/><br/>Food: 7, definitely better than Landmark and its open for late night yum cha. Unfortunately the parking situation is a lot more dismal. Pick your poison I guess?
Jevon
Came here a few times, never been disappointed with the quality of food here.<br/><br/>The dishes are usually served in a yum cha style, they'll come around with food on trays and you just pick it off them, but you can order specific dishes from them too!<br/><br/>Loved most of the dishes, especially the Portuguese egg tarts, congee, and rice rolls!<br/><br/>The Portuguese egg tarts were crispy outside, and the egg curd was so smooth and creamy it had me going for more!<br/><br/>The congee was cooked really well, with lots of flavour going into it. <br/><br/>Had the prawn rice rolls, the rice rolls were smooth and silky, made it really easy to just keep ordering more!<br/><br/>Will definitely be back again for more dim sum!
Sabrina
Haven't been here for a while. Didn't enjoy at all the experience. Came with family. Quality of the food is edible but not brilliant. There appeared to be many birthday parties occurring at the time, was reasonably popular. This particular night may have been really busy for staff but they had to ask us if we had been served the fish yet even though they had a system of crossing off the menu list orders as they served it up.
Eriko Yoshimitsu
Yummy food, lots of trolleys coming around with different dishes, but service has room for improvement! Some of the servers are very lovely, and others are not so much.
Brisbanefoodie
They had the worst customer service, all employees don't understand english except 1 (probably the manager). Food was alright. The staff didn't seem that nice either.
Jay Nguyen
I would give this place a 0 star if i could. Terrible service cold food. I waited an hr and the cart only came to us twice in that hr and when asked if they could bring me sauce it took 30 mins. Sad part of it all was that it wasnt even busy
Bianca Loh
I went to Haoke with a group of 12. We booked and confirmed our booking that morning but when we arrived at 9pm, they mentioned that they will not serve yum cha until 9.30pm. They did not bother sitting us even though there were plenty of tables free. Later, when we asked to be seated, they said we could not order yum cha until 10pm and ALSO could not order dinner either. They were unapologetic and frankly, unhelpful. We decided to leave following that. Terrible experience.
Angel Nguyen
One of the better yumcha's I've been to as of yet. The price is fairly reasonable and the servings are also decent. I enjoyed the variety of dishes, and flavours. The waiting time on a Sunday was great, nowhere near as bad as at Landmark. The staff were generally ok, although I did find one of the cashiers slightly rude. However, I would definitely come back again for YumCha with family.
Gouteur
Food here is consistent and good. But I once encounter a waiter with very very bad attitude hope he doesn't work there anymorw if not the customer sevice would be straight up 1. This place is packed on weekends so prepare to wait if you have more than 3 people.
Dalena Dang
Such bad service, waited ages for a table when there were many available. All staff walked past and didn't even bother asking if we've been served or if we needed a table. finally got a table when I asked for the 5th time, no service what so ever, so not recommend
MsK
This is my go to place for yum cha whether it be lunch or late night; yes they do yum cha at night from 9:30pm till close!! Food always comes out hot and is tasty, service is good and the place is always packed on the weekend!

Very Pricey, Very Authentic. Haoke is a Chinese restaurant FOR Chinese diners. With the vast majority of Chinese restaurants in Australia, you'll find dishes like honey chicken, sweet and sour pork, prawn crackers etc. The sad thing about this is that those aren't the types of food that actual Chinese people eat. In fact if you went overseas to China and walked down a street you would not find those types of dishes anywhere.<br/><br/>So the biggest surprise of dining at Haoke is both the food and decor actually feel like you're in a high end Chinese restaurant in China. I guess this is why Haoke has such a low rating here on Urbanspoon yet business is so good and the place is so packed. Haoke does not cater to Aussie taste buds. The flavours are mind numbingly rich and strong and the presentation is authentically messy. And of course there's a few dishes which most locals will look at and simply refuse to eat or ask twenty questions about before taking a tiny bite.<br/><br/>The decor and service won't appeal to westerners either. It's not modern looking like high end western restaurants that get all their furniture from IKEA and have everything fairly minimalistic like they're going for the iOS8 look. The decor here is designed to remind diners what it's like to eat back in China with big round tables covered in yellow cloths and fancy wall paper etc.<br/><br/>Having an eight person banquet here set us back around $700 however it was enough to have a very full taste of the place. As mentioned before the food here tastes authentic and full of spices and aromas and ingredients. I'd have to say Haoke is one of the most pricey places for Chinese food in Brisbane but it's worth going there at least once to check out if you're more of an adventurous diner with a taste for real authentic food and atmosphere.

I can honestly say we had the worst service. Food took too long. Kids falling asleep while waiting. After talking to waiters about wait time, it was basically shrugged off. Getting half our orders at a time. Waited over half an hour for steamed rice while our roast pork and duck went cold. And when asked if we could get a new serve of pork, waiter said nothing n took it away. Came back with a hot dish and when it was time to pay we were charged an unbelievable amount. Worst thing is that its written in chinese so we couldn't understand. Being charged a different amount to what was on the menu. I definitely wont be back. Highly disappointed.
The Devourer Of Food
Imagine a person with a bit of manic depression. This place is kinda like this. Over a few short weeks I ended up here for unknown reason only karma the universe knows why and its like ... wow! This is good. Then next time, blurk! Then, OK, not bad. Then oooo! Awesome. <br/><br/>I think I need a break from this .... yum cha thing ...
Lia.dynamic
Staff is revolting. Food is hit & miss most times, staff are rude & horrid. <br/>Don't waste your time with this place.
Meegoreng
What a rip off! Substandard food and service at a premium price. Grubby and chefs openly smokes in the kitchen. Has to be one of the worst restaurants in 4109. Super disappointed!!! AVOID!!
Jwaterhouse.bne
Service is sh%t -- food spam. Had to order mcdonalds style as waiting staff is non existant -- the fried rice has spam like ham in it -- the shallot pancake was overcooked and rubbery texture-- had pieces of luncheon plastic in the pork -- no thanks
Hayiquinn
Food is as not good as it should be, the service is even worse!. Ordered a whole roast duck which was too skinny and fatty and was not enough for two portions, the side dishes came with it, were really not fresh, totally wrong! Then, the waitress came to teach me how to take the roast duck and stated that it is the way it should be. This is the worst experience I have ever had in my whole life. I and all my friends will not go again.
Lia
Half & Half. This place is a half & half situation. The service varies depending on what time you go. Expect Yumcha during the day service to be poor cause t's over crowded & busy. It's not first in first serve its more of social status service. The food depending what time you go the quality varies. If you get there early expect to wait a while if you get there late expect the food to be cold. Best to go mid afternoon & mid evening. But when you go on a good day or at a good time the food is good if its not cold & you havent waited for more than an hour.

I love this Restaurant. The food is so good mmmmmmmmmmmmm :)
Thytran21
Terrible service. We had booked for Father's day 2 days prior for 10am, come in and they don't have our booking. We were then seated and the restaurant was filling up fast. There were dirty dishes and rubbish next to the entrance and a girl vacuuming as we were being seated, extension cord all over the floors. Food trolley didn't come out til 10:30, when the restaurant started service at 10am. We could only grab a few dishes because not every dish was ready and it was already 10:45, the restaurant has now filled up with customers. My mum doesn't eat meat, so we ordered 2 vegetarian dishes. Took them half an hour to come back to tell us they don't have them. I work in customer service so I never complain but this place is appalling. Wasted my time and money.
Ftelford01
Delight. Had read so many bad reviews for this restaurant so you can imagine my surprise when the service was excellent & the food amazing. Worth the visit would dine there again.
Kiki
Terrible food :(. The yum cha at this restaurant is terrible, it was obvious that the food had been reheated multiple times to the point that they were tough and hard to eat, I had to drive over across the road to mcdonald's after wards to get some food.
Foodie987
Over an hour wait for 2 to be seated. Then another 10 minutes wait to get our tea and sauces. Heaps of empty tables. Poor service. Food is average.
Fat Panda
Worst dining experience ever!. Terrible food, terrible service! Went with my eldery grandpa who has difficulty walking and asked for a table closer to the entrance if possible so he doesn't have to knock through hundreds of chairs, tables, trolleys, prams, people, and god knows what else. We knew this was a difficult request and was thankful when two tables the size we required became available. One was at the front and one was literally at the back corner of the restaurant. But instead of giving us the table at the entrance it was given to a group of young people and we were told very rudely that the other table was 'better'. Yeap! DEFINITELY BETTER FOR NOT GETTING ANY SERVICE! Took us forever to just get tea! The waiters and waitresses pretended not to see us. We literally had to get up and go and grab a waitress to serve us. The waitress was not impressed and told us off for not waiting for service at our table. (Yes I would've love to wait for service except I wanted to leave the restaurant today and not next year!) Finally all settled in we thought what the heck, at least we get to enjoy the food now. Nope! The food was cold and the Dim Sims were so powdery it was inedible. In the end, we just left and headed to the Maccas across the road instead which was tastier, cheaper, and even the workers were friendlier!
Ben Munford
Service very average. Soup came with desert. Had to chase outstanding dishes. Scallops so small you had to rummage amongst the salty beans to find them

Yum indeed. Came here recently with my mother for lunch and loved it. made the mistake of checking the reviews beforehand but don't let the negative Nancys put you off. despite not making a booking, turning up at midday, and there being heaps of people waiting, we got a table within 15 minutes.<br/>we had deep fried soft shell crab (could have been hotter but still delicious), which a waitress with a trolley kindly rushed off and ordered for us, mussels with chili, garlic & ginger, and prawn balls with shiitake mushroom. And for dessert we had some amazing egg tarts. <br/>and yes, the service appears a bit rough, but that may be a cultural thing so try not to get offended by it. I mean, I'm half Japanese and the service here always seems terrible after coming back from Japan. So really, it's all relative.

View menu. There is only one photo when you hit view menu, this is not good for someone new who wants to go to your restaurant

Rude waitresses here. Came for yum cha with a group of friends to catch up over brunch and because we stopped eating briefly to chat, lady came up and said we have to leave if we do not order anymore. We surely left and never came back

Ok yumcha, bad service. Service here is definitely all about turnover, you're in and you're out when you're done. Tables on the corners receive the worst service with yumcha trolleys walking right past. Not pram friendly, but highchairs are provided. Steamed beancurd roll, bbq pork rice roll and chive dumplings are nice. Soup dumplings are better at Shangri La, & chicken feet is better at Parkland Chinese restaurant.

Horrible service

Great yum cha during supper. Been here a few times for late night(past 9pm) yum cha and their dim sums have never disappoint. They are cooked fresh and unlike both Parkland yum cha restaurants, I've yet to be brought stale dim sums. The egg tarts are some of the best I've eaten and comparable to ones I've had in Hong Kong. Light and fluffy on the outside and rich and creamy with the fillings. Well worth the trip just for them alone!
Cheryl
Bad yum Cha , dim sum is not hot and service is not good

I'm at the restaurant now, it's terrible. Been waiting two hours. Not worth it

Horrible service. Made a booking 3 days before; however, when we rang up to confirm on the day, receptionist said there was no booking under our name. Very disappointed

Big restaurant with lots of potential, as it is in a prime location. We found the food to be ordinary and oily, so we won't be returning anytime soon. Grandma had paid top dollar from their banquet menu. It was also difficult to communicate with the staff, as they only spoke Mandarin.

This restaurant was recommended to me by a Chinese lady I work with but I was very skeptical because of the negative reviews. However went along and the food was amazing!! The staff are very busy, so had to request for our orders to be taken, but as soon as they realised we were ready they have us their instant attention. Ask for danny because he is great. The lady at the till was quite happy to split our bill 6 ways and accept separate payments. The food was great value for money and delicious. They definitely deserve more then 50% positive feedback. We were all thoroughly impressed and can't wait to go back for yumcha!!

This place is a scam. ordered 1 whole Peking duck. The waitress bought the remaining duck out which was a HUGE plate of meat. We told the waitress we had topped up for noodles and they tookin the plate and our noodles had nnothing but just a few shredded duck pieces. It was obvious they kept the rest of the meat. The yumcha is horrible too.

Very bad. Was told 8$ for 3.... Very bad.<br/>Was told 8$ for 3 yum cha items was charged $16 food was horrible could not eat a main and gave back uneaten and still charged.<br/>Was a dog in the restaurant with some diners.<br/>Very very bad idea to eat here<br/>Eat somewhere else

Not like it the first time. But went again recently for dinner with discount voucher from friend. Pretty good food this time. New menu with some interesting new dishes. Worth to try it again for those who dont like it the first time.

Very Disappointing.. Last night was the second time we have had takeaways from the Haoke Chinese Restaurant at Sunnybank Hills. This time the Lemon Chicken (No 35)as just a mass of batter and hardly any chicken. The vegetables (62) Was great thick stalks and very little green. The Fried Dim Sims (3) was soggy battered shrimp balls. King Prawn Omelette (11) Was greasy shrimp omlete. <br/>After spending $71.40 for our takeaways. We were very disappointed and will never return again.

Awesome crab. Ive been here twice now for their chilli crab and crab in egg yolk (or something like that) and will be going back again in a couple of days because i love it so much!! its expensive compared to mud crabs from inala or darra, but its damn good...well worth the visit just for this. caution:<br/>do be careful with staff overcharging for things so always check your bill carefully.

After waiting for 30 minutes we walked out. People who were seated after us got served. I guess they don't want our business. We won't be going back.

Worst eating out experience ever.... Ordered 5 dishes at 7:15pm. First dish came about 30 minutes later filled with just chopped up boney chicken with almost no meat on them plus chopped up necks and half a head. Sorry my family don't usually eat chicken neck and head. Second dish came few minutes after the first (one small abalone for ~$50). Then nothing came after that until 8:30pm. By this time all our rice had gone cold. And, had to keep asking them to please hurry a bit up. My 2yo boy was so hungry he started crying wanting to eat something. After 3 times of asking them to hurry up with my 2yo crying his stomach out. They finally brought out the 3 remaining dishes and finally finished our meal slightly past 9pm and cost us over $150 for a crappy experience.<br/>Their food tasted pretty good (except for the boney chicken with neck and head) but not worth the money and eating out experience. Will never ever go back.

Probably good for yum cha only. Been here a few times for yum cha and have had consistently good experiences. The staff members handling yum cha service are relatively pleasant, if one makes a comparison to the obnoxiously rude Cantonese waiter stereotype immortalized by Hong Kong establishments anyway. Read the negative reviews and it seems their ala carte dinner service is full of Fawlty Towers moments. Well, I'd take the advice and come only for the yum cha fare, for it is some of the best in Brissy at this point.

Never eat there again. Will NEVER have dinner in this place! It is my birthday and wanted to eat out at Sakura Japanese Restaurant. Unfortunately Sakura close on Monday. So we decided to give Haoke a chance tonight. Had been very suspicious that whenever we drive pass the place, we always see only one or two tables with people eating there every night. We thought surely won't be that bad since we tried the yum cha in day time before and it wasn't too bad (but not great). <br/>Today we order 4 dishes. The oyster egg was dry and tasteless, without any sauce to go with (usually if supposed to be dry should have dipping sauce e.g. garlic chili sauce ).. The menu said it is teowchew style and totally disgracing the teowchew people (I am teowchew and our "O chian" is 100 times better than this!). Second dish supposed to be Lemon fried chicken, and then turned up to be HOney chicken. I told the waitress/captain (the lady who ordered the dishes for us). She said if you want Lemon Chicken you should cook at home, the kitchen is busy today so they messed up the menu". She didn't even say sorry and instead she asked me to go home cook my own lemon chicken. The third dishes was seafood tofu in hot pot, not spectacular and it is the only dish that I can swallow. The forth dish is supposed to be SeaCucumber soup but when the dish was served, it was a cucumber with oyster sauce and 3 pak choy next to it?!! Again, they served the wrong dish because the captain wrote the wrong dish on her list. Anyway, I went to confront the cashier, and she said she can discount $5 for me...???!!!!! I didn't accept the discount i told her I just want to let you know about it. We paid $95 for a very disappointing and mood spoilting dinner. Now I feel nausea and angry with myself made the wrong decision in choosing this place for dinner tonight. I told my husband, I would rather eat the instant noodle at home and donate the money to charity than spending in this restaurant (if I had known better). <br/><br/>I will never eat in this restaurant again, I will pay for good delicious food but for this kind of standard, I can easily cook better than them. The staffs attitude - very irresponsible, they don't even have the "gut" to ask us how is the food, because I think they know themselves very well about the answer.

You go for the yumcha. Just as good as shangrila

Had to wait more than one hour after order before first few dishes arrived. Still waiting for the Reagan to arrive, and it has been 2 hours since order. Service courteous, but let down by mediocre food and slow preparation. Restaurant not even a third full.

I don't know why there were so many complaints about the quality and the service but we went there today with good expectations after having ordered take-away a while back. At first it took them a while for them to come over to our table wheeling their carts but by the time the first cart were to arrive, in between 5-10minutes spans they would come over! The food was surprisingly great, and in comparison to some of the yum cha places my family and I have been to this was a surprise hit - even my grandmother enjoyed it. The highlights I found was the assorted prawn dumplings, fried calamari, turnip pudding, and my personal favorite, the mango pudding. We had about 18 dishes in total, all for just a little bit over $100! We will definitely be going back there soon!

So many things wrong.... We knew going to Haoke was a risk after reading all the negative reviews but we thought we'd give it a go - always good to support the local restaurants!<br/><br/>We were disappointed :(<br/><br/>The moment we arrived, we spotted three belly up fish in the live tanks. Perhaps we should have walked out at this point??<br/><br/>45 minutes after being seated, we were still trying to wave down a waiter to take our order - and so were all the other guests at tables near ours. Service was literally non-existent.<br/><br/>Cold poached chicken dish we ordered was beyond awful. The chicken was tough, the bone of the chicken was still bloody (Yuck!) and much of the dish had lumps of congealed chicken fat smothered all over it.<br/><br/>The vegetarian dish of mushrooms and bok choy in oyster sauce was edible but the sauce was gluggy - cornstarch overkill! <br/><br/>Then the soup (lai tong) arrived....after we were well into the mains?! <br/><br/>Finally something positive to say...the steamed live fish (yes, we saw the waiter pull out a live fish from the tank) and the lobster yi mein, while not the best we've had, were both tasty dishes that everyone enjoyed. We were also grateful the meals didn't taste MSG-ish.<br/><br/>Will we be back? Probably not, unless things improve.

Slooooooooow. Have been there twice. Hate it every time.<br/>First time, we ordered and the food did not come for THREE hours. They did not apologise at all for this delay.<br/>Second time, slight improvement, the food didnt come for one and half hours after ordering, however this time they gave us the wrong dishes and when we pointed it out to them, we got yelled at. That is atrocious for a restaurant or any kind of service at all! The food came in a really random and disorganised order. Food was really average, but the service and wait ruined the whole experience. Will NEVER go there again.

Went for dinner. what a joke. no service. wrong meals. hour and half i we told them to put it in a bag, feed it to the dog. for sunnybank it is terrible. feel sick now.
