Review Hogs Breath - Brisbane

Excellect customer service, food came out very quickly and was exactly what we asked for. The steak was cooked perfectly and very yummy! It's much better than our local one, it was definitely worth the extra travel to get here

A nicely-decorated steakhouse, staffs were friendly, welcoming and informative. Steak looked yummy and partner said he loved it. This place has great atmosphere. Next time we’ll try the rib.

Serving sizes are good with the 18hour steaks, however an Eye Fillet option would be most welcome. A change in the menu would go a long way! The staff here are always welcoming and friendly, checking in with us through the meal. Rock road sundae to share is definitely worth it!

A good place for family and kids. They have a long bench seats. The prime steak is good. I wouldn't go for other steak than the prime rib. Kids size steak was alright.

Its very nice place and good food. I like the pepper sauce a lot. The 33 dollar set is very worthy.

I ordered a burger which took over an hour to arrive. The food tasted decent but the long wait ruined any positive things i would have to say.

Had a great night celebrating my daughter's first birthday. Although my steak was well done when I had ordered medium well, they replaced the entire meal. We also had an issue with the creme brulee but they took it back and took it off the bill. I was impressed by their great customer service and the steak was good. Will definitely be visiting again.

Reserved a table for a family member’s birthday - the service was great. The staff even sang Happy Birthday and brought out a dessert with a candle which was very nice of them.
The steak wasn’t that great - quite tasteless and bland, but the vegetables were cooked well and the curly fries were great. The desserts were also quite tasty.

Order was taken at 4pm.... at 4.55 pm still no food. Asked the staff over 2 times to see what’s was going on ......
only for them to blame their system that the order wasn’t sent through however we already asked them twice before where our food was why hadn’t they picked up on the glitch?
Once we got our order... my steak was supposed to be medium rare.... however burnt....
Terrible steak, first I ordered the prime steak with medium rare cook. It came out like it's fully cooked. Can't even chew it. No apology and the chief claimed that it's supposed to be like this.

Then I asked for an exchange, they said they gonna cook a medium rare steak for me again. The steak came out like it's freaking raw.
Never again.

Yesterday I ordered lunch with some friends through Deliveroo. The Deliveroo rider was late, so a member of the Hog's Breath's staff called me to inform us that they would deliver our lunch in person, without waiting for Deliveroo. We really appreciated and the food was delicious and fresh! Thank you so much, it makes me want to work with such awesome people!

Celebrated my son's 7th birthday here last week and i have to give a shout out to our lovely server who made our boys feel so special that day. Not many places you can go to for dinner that makes kids feel not only welcome but special. Food was good as always but it was the personalized interaction that was the icing on the cake.

No! Stop! If you want steak go to a proper restaurant, not some arm pit of a food hall. Don't waste that cow on your desire for curly fries.

It's Hogs breath! Consistent quality every time! If you have been to Hogs breath once, you would know exactly what you are expecting. No nasty surprises.

Soft steak, big portions, expensive price tags, cheesy decor, and friendly customer service attendants. But it is strangely addictive.

I had the prime rib eye fillet with Byron Bay hot sauce. Steak was perfectly cooked. Great service. I was pleasantly surprised by this place!

The quality of the steaks at this Hog's Breath is always consistent. I have had some pretty bad steaks at other Hog's Breaths for quite a few times but every time when we come to this Indooroopilly Hog's Breath, we have always been happy with the food. The staff are always friendly and helpful also.

The staff really try and provide good service. To be fair they actually do a good job. The food though is a let down. Steak was so tough I couldn't finish my meal.

Had a dinner here for a friends birthday, the staff went out of their way to make the night a special occasion. Food was delicious, service was fast, cocktails were yummy and well priced. Not sure why the previous reviews are so bad. My son has a food allergy and the staff went out of their way to accommodate this.

Been there twice and really disappointed on both occasions. Went with two small children.
First time got an overcooked steak (and they claim to have great steaks). When I told them, they didn't offer any remedy or even apology.
Second time, I avoided the steaks, andthe food was acceptable, but their customer service was very poor. For example, after asking 3 times for a simple jug of water (and it having been acknowledged), eventually had to get it myself. Hate to think what happens when the place is really busy!
Hogsbreath Indooroopilly really needs to train its front of house staff better!

Came here a few months ago with my girlfriend and her friend. Service was absolutely terrible! The lady that served us neglected to ask me for a drink through the entirety of the meal. Although, the food was quite tasty but would of been better with a refreshment to wash it down.

This place is still as shite as ever, cant belive I came back here. Still trotting out that old bullsh!te line about their slow cooked steaks when I'm served up hard white fat in the middle of a piece of supposed "prime" beef. Then to be argued with about it, should have learned the last time, my fault I guess. Terrible.

Beyond disgusting. The most bland burger I have had in years. Freezing cold, oily , soggy 'curly fries' arrived with a disgusting "cheese" sauce (had to ask what it was as the flavour was completely confusing / foul)... All the sauces come out of a bottle at this place. Burgers in stale bun, limp salad and the the burger patty I wouldn't feed to my dog. So overpriced and horrible ... Only went there as the brilliant NKB express in the same complex was shut (Monday nights) ... Will never return it is the worst meal I have had in years ... Saw two other people at a table near us return their steaks and have them returned 15 minutes later. Despite being a Monday night And having a total of 16 people in the entire restaurant the meals took nearly 25 minutes to come out. There was about 10 floor staff, 2 bar staff and numerous chefs. If this place doesn't go under soon I will be shocked. RIP hogs breath you are appalling.

Services. On 13/11/2014, I booked dinner for my wife's birthday. Your staff was told about that when I booked. When we turned up at reception, we produced the broucher and was told to show later. Don't you think your staff should noted down and advised customers when paying? Your staff even offer special sundaes for her and sang birthday song. How could your staff ignored all this and simply charged. At Coles, you would ask to present your fly buy card, should your staff also ask if customer has discount card.

Best Hog's Breath. I went to Hog's Breath Indooroopilly over this last weekend and both the food and service were exceptional. We were immediately greeted by the staff in a welcoming manner, and even though they were busy and the restaurant was full, they immediately cleared a table for us to prevent us from having to wait. All of the waitstaff that we encountered were happy and cheerful, and were able to answer every single question we asked about the menu. Our drinks arrived within 5 minutes, and we didn't have to wait very long for our meals either. We started with a Cheesy Bruschetta and Classic Potato Skins with added avocado (recommendation from our waitress) which arrived quickly as well, and tasted great. We both ordered Prime Rib steaks that were cooked perfectly and presented really well. Overall, our experience at Hog's Breath Indooroopilly was great and we'll definitely be coming back regularly.

Happy. Great food and lovely staff. Had a great time

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews! As a group of 8 (with no reservation!) we had a great time. Very accommodating, food was delicious and out quickly, and service was lovely - really friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back and would recommend.

Average. Food average, as was listening to the kitchen staff/staff talk and swear and be unprofessional near us.

Not good. Steak tasted like a sponge soaked in fat. Both me and my partner felt too bad to admit it was an awful meal to each other until the ride home. Vegetables were cold, steak was barely edible.

State of Origin Finals, ordered a Chicken Dijonnaise ......... this meal was superb, the chicken was cooked to perfection, the generous helping of Avo and sauce along with the mashed potato and vegetables made this a meal that I would recommend to anyone eating at Hogs Breath. Hogs Breath Indooroopilly rocks!!

It's quite funny, this place loves to go on and on about their "amazing" slow cooked steak. I've even heard a few with the cheek to call it the best steak in the world. The only thing amazing about it is how consistently bad it is: always tough, chewy and bland. The other meals don't make up for it. On top of that, the fries are always super oily. I've waited a long time to write this review. I've been to a lot of different hog's breath cafes and tried a lot of different meals but each and every time has been a disappointment and my days of giving the place a chance are over.

Came in tonight on my own had the best meal I've gas in weeks and I don't scrimp when I go out, cheesy garlic bread crisp and lovely, steak cooked perfect and a lovely strawberry lab to finish. Beautiful meal and great $7 cocktails really fresh!! Very impressed indooroopilly!! I'm a frequent diner and you smash Ipswich!!! I drive an extra 20 min to come here instead!!! Really great service to. :)

Excellent Food and service. I am a regular at Hogs Breath Indro and its always good. Love the Lite Cut version and the service is always excellent. Will be going again as the menu has so many choices. Would highly recommend it.

Disorganised. Entrees were nice, but we asked for them to come first and then main. Entree did come first, but followed by main 5 seconds after.
Asked for medium rare and got almost well done.
Won't be back.

Pleasantly suprised. Took the full family crew here for our son's birthday party tonight and everyone left happy. staff were great, steaks cooked to perfection and salads crisp and delicious. after going to a hogs breath elsewhere a few years ago I swore off them but am happy we decided to give this one at indro a go. for a monday night they were pumping but everything was terrific and we were more than happy to leave a good tip great job by what appeared to be a young team! as arnie said "I'll be back"...

Bad, bad food. Sorry to say this was a huge let down. I'm from the states and we have (too) many chain restaurants with food and flair like Hog's Breath, so I thought it would be similar. While the food is usually not super interesting at places like this, it's usually pretty good and at least cooked right. Our lunch at Hog's Breath was the exact opposite. My husband couldn't even finish is burger because the patty was such bad quality, almost like meatloaf. I ordered the lite size blackened prime rib. I could see the seasoning but didn't taste any of it; I had to add salt so you know that's a bad sign. Though I ordered it med rare (which is what they suggest of course) it was med well and pretty dry. I ate about half and went home hungry. And the cheesestick entrees were served with this huge blob of pepper jelly...didn't make sense at all. Plus the value wasn't there for the size of the sticks. I'm really surprised people like this place....maybe we just went on the wrong day or to the wrong restaurant. If you are known for your steak, at least cook it right!

Came tonight with my man, i ordered the chicken djonaise but changed sauce to bernaise was great! My man got a steak burger which he loved. Great service, will definitely be back!!!!!
Orange Blossom Special
Fantastic Staff. Mediocre Food.. The staff at this restaurant are fun, friendly and enthusiastic! Unfortunately, the food, although served hot and fresh, is only average in taste. But that’s what is to be expected from a rock & roll playing, roadhouse-style, greasy spoon, diner.

I went into Hog’s Breath Café (May 18) after a friend of mine told me that their curly fries are fantastic. In that I’m a huge chip fan, I wanted to check this out for myself!

Upon entering the restaurant I was immediately bombarded - in a good way – with tons of visual and audible stimulation! Decorated with their own big, colourful logo everywhere, interestingly shaped bottles that looked to contain olive oil, wine, etc, placed on the top between the booths, and words in neon lights above the kitchen all while my ears were taking in rock & roll music that was not painfully loud, but very embracive – all in a fun way.

The hostess greeted me with a big smile and led me to a table. The bench was interesting to sit on in that the back and the base were not connected, leaving a big space at the back where unfortunately my personal belongings slipped through and onto the floor. To prevent this from happening again, I had to put my stuff on the table.

I started looking at the vast menu and there certainly was a lot of choices! Categories included: Burgers, pasta, grill, chicken and seafood. I noticed that the prices of the steaks were in the high $20 which struck me as too expensive for a restaurant of this calibre. I have had steak downtown in fancier establishments for less than the price they were charging here.

In that I had come to try the curly fries – or “hog tails” as they’re called, I looked for something in the burger section which also had wraps listed. Here the prices were much more reasonable, ranging from $12.95 – 14.95. I decided on the Cheese Burger in Paradise ($12.95) which had toppings of cheese, lettuce, beetroot, tomato, red onions, BBQ sauce and seasoning.

A different waitress sprung around the corner, energetically blurting out “Are you ready to order”. In that my ears were flooded with rock & roll, I had not heard her coming and I just about had a heart attack! Getting over being startled, I placed my order and started to read my magazine.

Quickly thereafter, my meal appeared, much quicker than should have. I realize that the restaurant was not overly busy even though it was lunch time, it was still too fast. Perhaps this is just the pace of this restaurant, but it was just too quick for me.

The meal was large, I’ll give it that, but that may have been the only decent thing about it. Trying the curly fries I found them other than their interesting shape, to be bland and boring. Absolutely no taste to them. I had to add my own salt and pepper and gladly would have accepted some tomato sauce had I been offered any. I feel I can be critical on these because after being in North America where curly fries aren’t a rarity, I know these aren’t good. I’ve had way better!

As for the Cheese Burger of Paradise, it looks like “Paradise” took the day off! Now granted, the bun was fresh, nice and soft, and the piece of beetroot was massive, but after that, there were only some less generous toppings left and the burger was smothered in BBQ sauce. I really dislike when a restaurant does this! I know they are only trying to hide their mediocrity, but it really is disgusting! I have seen a lot of these fun-looking themed places with crappy food all over America – it’s too bad to see it here!

I will say again how wonderful and pleasant the staff were! They definitely know how to treat their customers! And the Hog’s Breath franchise is a lot of fun, even selling items with their logo on it like water bottles, t-shirts, insulated lunch bags, etc. I also found out that they have a Braille menu which I’ve yet to see in another restaurant I’ve been to! (I applaud this!!) But as for their food, after eating my meal, I would not order a steak in this establishment as I fear the quality would be quite low – and at the prices they’re charging, this is not good value!

To be fair, I would recommend this restaurant for those who want a different style of place to go – greasy, American, rock & roll-ish. I noticed a few families there with smaller kids who loved their curly fries! If you are going to go to Hog’s Breath Café, you’re going for the fun, but definitely not the food!!

Great Steaks. Great place for a casual dinning. The staff is friendly and well informed about the food. Our order came out fast and hot. The menu is reasonably priced and the portions are huge. Looking forward to a sumptuous meal, this is the place to be.

Dined here last with my family including 3 year old twins. Usually with a combination like this, it's a nightmare to eat out. NOT THIS TIME...Staff at the restaurant were so professional and checked that the kids were ok and even gave them colouring-in activities to keep them occupied while my wife and I enjoyed our dinner! Steaks were great! Slow cooked prime rib is one of the nicest steaks you can buy. We even signed up for frequent diners which gives you 25% off meals (great for families). Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Easy parking. There's a lift so you don't have to cart prams up the stairs. All in all: A GREAT NIGHT OUT!

Came here with my boyfriend and the place was amazing. Great service. The girls were very happy and always smiling nothing was too much to ask. We both had the prime rib and it was really good, very tender and perfectly cooked. Will definitely be coming back again!!

Ordinary Steak. They claim to be a steak house but offer no real choice in steaks, their signature steak is ordinary and the sides are almost in edible. The vegetables are barely warmed and certainly not cooked. But the biggest let down is the steak.

Rubbish. $31 for steak and veg is NOT good value, especially when the steak is not cooked to order, the vegetables are over or under-cooked, two meals arrive once most people at the table have made their way through theirs. If you want value for money, try any small 4-5 star restaurant, pay a LITTLE bit extra and enjoy a fine meal and fine service together. The meals were of very poor standard for the price.

You would think that a place that calls itself a steak restaraunt would have their technique of cooking steaks down pat , for $30 a steak I expect above average, had to send back twice as it was not cooked to medium, crap , crap , crap.
Sarah
I dine out once a week and this is my favorite by far!! The food is fantastic! My favorite is the garlic prawn prime rib, can't say no to the hog tail fries either :) whether you're there as a table for two or a large party the service and meal quality is consistent. Even without a booking on a busy Saturday night the staff will always try make room for you. Cheery staff and yummy food keep me coming back!!

Prime rib steak? Not even for my dog.... This was quite possibly one of the WORST dining experiences I've ever had. We were seated at a table near the 'staff get-together', and they were more worried about organising their own food than food for the customers. We had to wait ages for our entree, and with a toddler waiting is not a good option. We both ordered a main meal off the prime rib menu, it was safe to say that this was NOTHING like the picture. The steak looked worse than anything you would buy in the economy cuts at the supermarket, my partner's steak was horrific, he couldn't even eat it because it was so fatty and disgusting! Even though Hog's Breath claim that "the steak is marbled with fat to help the slow cook blah blah blah", this was something else. I wouldn't even feed that steak to my dog! Upon paying (minus the awful main meal) the wait staff apologised and encouraged us to return again. Yeah right! NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN! What a disaster, don't waste your time or money on this place.

Family Favourite. The Hog's Breath Indooroopilly is one of the best I've been to - and thats quite a few. The steak is always perfect and the staff as friendly as can be. Love the new light cut options - sometimes their generous plates are too big. The manager knows our name and preferred drinks. Just the thought puts smile on my dial.

I will NEVER eat here again - not to save my life. Staff immediately hostile when we arrived without a booking, despite it being mid week and very quiet. Given the worst table and staff punitively slow with taking orders and bringing meals. Chicken meal was frozen in middle but we were forced to pay for it. Should be ashamed.

Really nice beef steak. Their Prime rib steak is really nice, better than those who call themselves "the best in BNE"

The first couple of times at Hogs Breathe cafe I was disappointed. I didn't like it at all. The steak was always rare instead of medium rare and the fact that you had to pay extra for sauce kinda put me off. I've been to a couple of them around Brisbane and I'd say the one at Indooroopilly is probably the best that i've experienced. This time around going with Tanya for lunch I had my steak cooked close to perfect. Everything seemed fresh and the curly potato things didn't taste like cardboard as much. LOL and even better I got 25% off the total bill from voucher... not bad.
Hogs Breath.. the pink pig.. that's all I think about.. and the thought of an actual Hog's breath.. Came here for lunch one day and decided to try their $9.90 lunch menu..

Hog's Breath Café opened its first restaurant in 1989 at Airlie Beach, Queensland; it now has 68 franchised Steak House across Australia. Prime Rib is their signature dish - steaks have been slow cooked for 18 hours in a special oven. All meals come with
