Visited Clarence corner today. Lovely book shop and cafe. So much character and a super cosy place to chill out and read a book, play chess or bring your own home crafts. Met Darcy the lovely barista and botanist who made us feel at home. She is a champion. The only down side about this place is the opening hours. They are clos d on weekends. I hope this changes.
The atmosphere is very nice here. Their coffee is pretty good compared to the rest you can find around this area. I haven't tried their food so I can't comment. Their book collection is also worth a look. You can find some nice cook books for less than $10. Friendly staff is always appreciated.

Ignore those fusty old books on your way in - the coffee is worth the guilt you are experiencing in knowing that you ought to read more. Pro-tip: enter via the back door / alley entrance. Your guilt will subside, you will feel like a regular, and your shoes won't clack on that annoyingly appropriate wooden floor.

Diana. Just loved browsing the books here what a quaint little hideaway from the busy street. The coffee, however was a little bitter with a rather large head on it for a flat white, sometimes this can happen with Merlo if not made correctly tends to be bitter on the mouth feel.

This shop is a little gem! The best coffee and an interesting range of books. I always feel so relaxed when spending time here. Customer service is top notch as the staff are efficient and attentive. Highly recommend.
I was trying to kill time while a family member was having tests done at the mater hospital, came across this hidden gem.. such a cool little shop.. the staff were so friendly and the coffee was amazing.. ended up staying for lunch and browsing the books while I waited.....will be back

Tea, coffee, veggie and chicken wraps, and banana bread slice. We love to spend a little in this cozy place. Always friendly staff. The cafe is popular for lunch breaks. Lots of medical practitioners going there for coffee. Hundreds of books create an at home-like atmosphere. However, there is no parking close.
