This place as a friend put it was very “dark and not well lit” at night, perhaps given the radiology place next door was closed. The outside ambience was a bit dark, but inside was ok - so don’t let that fool you.

We came here after movies at South Bank, and overall not bad. You are paying a bit of premium for location IMO, but that is offset by our entertainment book 25% off voucher - although you get 5% anyway for checking in on Facebook.

Service - food came out quick - almost too quick as almost 10minute difference between serving of first main and sixth last main dish to our friend.

Food itself - Tom Yum fried rice was really good - highly recommended. Other duck dish was not as impressive.

Overall 4/5

Very good experience dining at this restaurant. We ordered the cashew stir fry, coconut rice, pad see ew and roti bread. The food came out very quickly and everything tasted amazing. The service was also very nice!

Excellent Thai restaurant, good service and a rather romantic setting near a pond at SouthBank away from the hubub. Much better than a lot of places on Little Grey Street, probably one of the best at Southbank all round. Food seems good so far but I'd like to go back to explore more of what they have.

Towards the more authentic than westernised end of the scale, this is a good value Thai restaurant with very decent food and a lovely view across the South Bank Parklands. Service is friendly and efficient and the lunch menus are reasonably priced with generous servings.  I ordered the Pad Thai last time I went, but have also had the Kai Pad Krapow, both of which were delicious.  This is one of the better establishments in the South Bank precinct.

Although there was a slight mix up with the addition of meat to my Asian omelette for breakfast, everything was quickly corrected & I received the vegetarian version along with some nice hot red chilli & a large mound of rice. Coffee was quite passable with a double shot too. Attentive & friendly service & pet friendly seating outside

Spring rolls for entree were over cooked. Rice paper duck rolls were very flavor some.
Pad Thai was very tasty. Roast duck and tamarind sauce was well spiced but was delivered almost cold. Duck was quite chewy. Venue was suitable but nothing fancy. Service was friendly but tardy. Maybe just a tad above average experience.

While we were walking beside the river at Southbank we decided to take a different path into Grey Street and found this Thai restaurant for the first time. It's secluded in the river area it is but also right there in the heart of Southbank so it has a lovely ambience but not too many people coming by.

We ordered the vegetable samosas, yellow curry and a vegetable tom yum soup and it was all the best I've had in ages. The tom yum soup was just perfect because it wasn't overpowering at all but it still had a kick. The vegetable samosas were also little pieces of heaven with a fantastic dipping sauce and the yellow curry was perfect for two.

The prices were very fair for the amount of food and I was very impressed with the quality. I can't wait to come back here for another lunch or dinner and try more of the menu.

Really nice place. we went for lunch and it was quiet, I guess because it's out of the way off the main strip of Southbank. We got lunch specials; the peanut satay roti, beef massaman curry and ka prao chicken (sorry about that spelling!!). My curry was excellent, VERY generous on how much meat was in. Mum had the chicken and she enjoyed it, same thing there was ALOT of meat. The pic of the pond was the view from our table. Would definitely come back again

A quick review that will be embellished when the day is young, this Thai gets a big shout out in both the quality and value stakes, offering multiple discounts (5, 10, 15% depending on if you Like and Check In on Facebook, takeaway or return in 15 days!

The Barramundi Fish was absolutely spectacular with a beautiful Thai dressing, and the potato roti with the peanut satay sauce was wonderful also. The duck spiring rolls were tasty, although suffered from too much mint and slight dryness from the duck. The soup with coconut cream and prawns was also pleasant, but suffered from overpowering coconut milk and a lack of balance from the other elements in the dish.

The owner was very friendly and the view (with the pond close at hand) and plenty of space make this a definitely place to visit if you are after Thai and happen to be in Southbank.

We returned to Siam Thai tonight. I loved the food. We ordered Will You Marry Me as an entree. I don't know why they call it that. It is calamari with sweet chilli dipping sauce. It could have been drained slightly longer but was otherwise delicious and well-cooked.

For mains we had 2 fish dishes and a vegetable dish. The sweet and sour fish was unusual in that it was a large fillet battered and fried with the vegetables an sauce piled on top. This was so much nicer than the usual small pieces but they need to serve it with a knife. A spoon is not for cutting. The other fish dish was a steamed barramundi with celery and the usual suspects chilli and ginger. The celery was braised and was soft and delicious. It was only just outdone by the fish which was also fantastic. The vegetable dish was I Am Healthy. We asked for some chilli to be added. It was nice but nothing special.

The let down was the service. The staff were friendly but everything was so slow. They were slow to take our order and then the food took quite a while before it started arriving. Drinks orders also took a while to arrive. We had to chase them for a few things. Still, it was probably better than my visit 3.5yrs ago so I've increased my score.

We went to Siam Southbank with friends last night. While the company was good the restaurant was disappointing overall. One of the party had to practically accost a waiter to take our order after sitting with menus closed for several minutes. The food then came in good time and was good. I had a vegetarian tom yum followed by a shared barramundi choo chee and vegetable jungle curry. The jungle curry sauce was too watery and there was too much tofu (which wasn't mentioned in the description as we would have requested it be left out entirely). Four people in the party requested steamed rice with their main meal when we placed our order but all that arrived was one little bowl. We requested more but were told it would have to be cooked and would take a while so we didn't bother and had nothing to mop up the watery sauce.

We then ordered desserts and coffee. The coffee was described as average. The extreme choc ice cream was very disappointing. It consisted of a scoop of average cheap ice cream with a supermarket style chocolate sauce and a dollop of ready made whipped cream. The banana in coconut milk was just that - a banana sliced into 3 added to a bowl with some coconut milk, a bit of salt and a sprinkling of shredded coconut and warmed. It tasted nice but the milk was too watery and would have been better with coconut cream.

We asked for 2 ice buckets for our wine. We received 1 but still paid full corkage. The service overall was terrible; we had to hunt down wait staff for our initial order, ice bucket and dessert menus. They really didn't seem to care and one guy spoke very poor English, which didn't help. We still had a lovely night with friends but won't be rushing back to Siam.

Been here a few times since opening. Food are always delicious and authentic but a little pricey for Thai cuisine, probably due to the Southbank location. The alfreco dining is great with the lotus pond view. Service is great too, the friendly owner actually came and talk to us.

Great restaurant! Delicious food, quick service (even when busy), friendly staff and not too expensive. Authentic Thai atmosphere and good location. We've been here twice and don't usually write reviews but I would highly recommend this place, especially the chilli fish! Enjoy.

I had a lovely dinner at Siam South Bank. True Thai experience facing the Souh Bank park, Fresh Duck Rolls as starter and Chicken ‘n Cashew nuts as main, what they call the “Best of the Best” and it really was! Also the wine was excellent, I had a great organic Chianti which was a perfect match for the main. People are kind and always ready to share their Thai food culture. Price are very reasonable.

Siam Thai - South Brisbane. While this is definitely on turf that is less traveled - though bypassed a lot - taking that other turn away to come here is rewarding for a good dining experience. One of the biggest strengths that Siam at South Bank has going for it is the location, even among the many options at South Bank. It is away from the main drag of eateries and in a corner on the Parklands. Right in view of the restaurant is a big lily pond, which gives the atmosphere of Siam a deal more of serenity. Inside is a bit standard looking, but wisely they have most of their seating al fresco; therefore, whether it is overlooking water or in the side alleyway at least there is a relaxed feeling to go with it. Just to think, all of this in the shopfront of some apartment buildings. When the sun goes down and the lights start up, the look of this place really comes alive; that I have noted from walking by so many times after night class.

While there is the usual range of dishes that can be expected at a Thai restaurant, the staff here go a bit above with their selection of house specialties at the beginning of the menu. Among these are less usual choices including larb, papaya salad and some of the drier cooked meats. Some Australian touches are even done to the dishes, most when it comes to seafood. Expect Moreton Bay bugs and barramundi as options as well. It is a tad more upmarket than usual. During the lunch-time rush - when I came here with my friend - the default menu is two lunch special menus. When saying two, there is a second section with the sub-heading "Lunchtime Munchies" for several meals that are common street foods in Thailand.

The meal that I went for was the Penang curry, opting to get it as prawn. This classic curry dish is cooked in a coconut cream sauce and infused with kaffir lime leaves then mixed in with beans, capsicum and a topping of crushed peanuts. It should come to be expected that the presentation of the food was nothing short of aesthetically pleasing. The whole meal came on a rectangular plate. The main part of the curry (the sauce and meat) was served in an individual bowl, while the rice was put alongside it shaped like a star. Again, it proved to have both a simple, straightforward recipe coupled with a slightly complex flavour base. This was more tart and a little sweet, and the prawns in the curry were massive. If there was one thing to say about it, the balance of sauce to rice was really in favour of the sauce; at the end I essentially drank what was left of it (a lot, I am not *that* greedy).

Starting off (and/or with the curry main), I got an order of roti peanut sauce. There were two pieces, and both were a generous size. These texture was still flaky, and a bit less buttery than most rotis are. The sauce that is came with it was thick and chunky, having plenty of peanuts throughout it. It is safe to say that this was not made with peanut butter. Also on the side to drink, I went with the strangest choice I could - a drink named "Thai Basil with Honey". This was refreshing, slightly sweet with more astringent undertones and was welcome on a hot day.

Siam at South Bank is one place that is worthy of its reputation if this sampler trial is anything to go by. It has a lot going for it: it has great service, a wonderful centralised location, interesting items on the menu, having an oasis feeling from its neighbouring competition, well priced with cheaper options at certain times, and don't forget the obvious base need of good quality, tasty fare. With the throughfare that it gets, this place is not one that will be being ignored any time into the future.

Glad I found this place!. Had a meal here last week with some friends from Sydney and was very impressed. I wouldn't have normally found this restaurant being tucked around the corner, but I was looking for gluten free friendly places to eat on urban spoon and their listing came up. I was impressed by the range of gluten free options that were available, and the service was very friendly and relaxed from the moment we arrived without a booking. I had Tom Kha soup for entree, which was something new for me, absolutely delicious. Three of us shared three curries for a main. We had yellow curry, red curry and choo chee, and coconut rice. All of them were delicious and there was plenty of food, we couldn't fit everything in.
I think I have found my new favourite Thai place for when we are in Brisbane.

Wonderful Modern thai restaurant. I like the location which is just off the main street opposite a quiet park. Here you can take your friends and make them feel like you've found a special spot for them. The food is Thai with a modern twist just like the hip places in Bangkok like to prepare it for you. I'll be back here soon, especially to eat more of the creamy and amazingly flavourful Masssaman curry.

Tastebud Sensation. Our first visit to Siam last night, most enjoyable atmosphere and our tasrebuds went into overload with the selection of dishes. Certainly the best Thai we have had in Brisbane, from the starters to dessert everything was beautifully presented and tasted delicious without being overloaded with sauce. The restaurant setting is ideal as it has a great view of Southbank whilst being tucked away just enough to avoid the overcrowded hustle and bustle of the main strip. Would recommend a visit.

Good Value. Went to Siam South Bank as we had an Entertainment Book voucher and had a craving for Thai food. Cute little restaurant that is tucked away at the other end of Southbank. Food was tasty and felt fresh, not very oily or gluggy as Asian food can usually be. Servings looked deceptively small but were a good size. We ordered an entrée to share, five dishes with corkage and rice and it only came to just over a $100! And that wasn’t even including the voucher yet! Bargain!

Great Food!!!. The service and food at Siam Southbank was nothing short of fantastic!!!
The choices were excellent. We struggled to decide what to try. Between four of us, for entree we decided to share a selection of curry puffs, chicken satays and Rotti with peanut sauce. All were delicious.
For Mains we chose Penang chicken, Massamam beef, Pad Thai Noodles with prawns and a serve of coconut rice. WOW!!!! Each dish had its own amazing and distinctive flavours and spices that were mouth watering, yet not overbearing.
As full as we all were, we could not help ourselves but to struggle and finish everything we had ordered.

The service was excellent and we were enticed by the owner Pattie to try a range of her worderful home made desserts.

Siam is a defintely one of Brisbane's hidden gems. We will definitely be back regularly to make our way through the menu!!! Highly recommended.

Sensational Thai Food. Great location and perfect setting for dinner.
Service was exceptional, staff were polite and helpfull with the dishes.
The duck rolls for entree were delicious and the coconut rice complemented the curry completely.
It was only after dinner that I realised that the owner was the one who had helped me with my selections and bought me out of my comfort zone.
Excelent experience, cant wait to go back.

Best Experience Ever !. I've had some realy bad experiences with Thai food in the past, however Siam has changed my outlook considerably.
The staff were realy helpfull in understanding what my needs were when it came to taste and tolerance to spicy foods and were able to clearly explain the menu.
I started off with an entree of Chicken Satay with a peanut sauce followed by Yellow curry chicken with pineapple fried rice, and finished off with a homemade chocolate mousse made by the owner.
The presentation of the food, the service and taste - complete pakage. I keep on going back for more.
I would definetely recomend this to anyone with a taste for good food.

Amazing food, amazing service!. I visited South Bank to enjoy a dinner out with my mother. What an incredible surprise this restaurant was! The good was incredibly good. We enjoyed a green curry with fish and the flavours were strong but not overwhelming. The fish was perfectly coooked (I'm not a huge fan of fish but loved this). The ginger stirfry was full of subtle flavours. I'm not sure who enjoyed their dessert the most. The owners, Bill and his wife, were extremely welcoming and the waitstaff were efficient and friendly. It was very reasonably priced - I would have been willing to pay much more for a meal of such high quality. Thank you for a lovely experience!

Best kept secret!. Absolutely amazing Thai restaurant. Been open for about 3 months, located on South Bank. Not near any of the busy big restaurants, but nicely and quietly tucked away on the corner of Little Stanley and Grey Street (were this coffee shop Timmy's used to be, next to Griffith Uni).

Great ambiance, fantastic friendly and engaged service and amazing food. We went here tonight for the first time bumping into it by accident. I ordered a Tom Yum soup which has the most amazing coconut flavors. My partner had a beautiful vegetable (GF) curry which was actually spicy! (They always make promises, but it's never really spicy). We also had a side of the best coconut rice I have ever eaten.

In between the meals the owner came over to our table to have a chat about the meals, his restaurant and happily answered all our questions in regards to unknown new ingredients. We had fresh Mango juice and fresh coconut juice as accompaniments.

To finish it of I had an amazing dessert of coconut sweet rice (okay, so I am bit of a coconut fan... :P) with fresh mango slices and a very tasty coconut cream.

For all of this, $52.00 .....

I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone in Brisbane. If you're looking for a nice place to have a quiet dinner with your family or your partner or even if you just want a nice meal on your own.
