I had the poached chicken asian salad & was the most moist delish salad . Loved the daikon ribbons & was the flavors all balanced well. Will be back when in Melbourne again
well done on hitting the top ten in the Age Newspaper. A place to relax at, A place to celebrate in, A place for everyone! love it. More than 10 years of greatness and it still carries on being great and the best part is that what you do serves the community.
Best service! Love this place. Woooooooooppppppp
Tom Phat has a new menu mixed with some old favs.
Not before time I've got to say. But well worth the wait.
Service as good as ever.
The food was beautiful!
Very tasty!
Highly recommend!
Food and service here is always great. I've never had a bad meal. Highly recommended.
Fave place in Melbourne but bring back the damn chicken wings and I'll quit my complaining!!
Delicious food. Make a booking as it can get very busy some nights.
The food is soooo good. Loved it. Recommend this to anyone who loves Asian cuisine.
Ordered Tom Phat take away over the weekend. Oh boy it was absolutely amazing!
I had the fried chicken, the curry and some roti. The fried chicken was crunchy on the outside and juicy from the inside. The curry had such amazing flavours with so many different ingredients in it. Everything was so good! Will definitely order again!
Busy restaurant, food was served quickly. Salt and pepper calamari was extremely disappointing, very thick batter with no salt and pepper seasoning - reminded me of the fish n chip shop. Rendang roti was lovely. Atmosphere was quite dark, hence the limited photos of the dishes!
Our first time visiting and I already cannot wait to come back!
The restaurant is dimly lit and cozy, has its own great vibe going on. Drinks list has enough to keep everyone happy including some epic cocktails!
My friend and I shared the Thai green curry spring rolls, beef stir fry and the chilli caramel pork belly. Our standouts were the spring rolls and stir fry. Make sure you try both on your visit! So much flavour in those crispy spring rolls, and the stir fry was different to anything else I’ve had before - SO tasty! The pork belly had a beautiful glaze/sauce that it probably needed a little more of, as two of our pieces were a little dry compared to the first two. Still super enjoyable and will be back for sure!!
We used to visit Tom for breakfast and that was always great. We decided to try dinner and we were not disappointed. The spring rolls to start were delish and a great size. We chose the Balinese Ribs, yumm and the Chicken dish with chilli jam which was also delish. My only criticism would be the aloof waiters that night...but that's ok...we will return.
Tom Phat is one of my favourite local spots. The dinner menu is nice but it's the Southeast Asian-inspired breakfast that gets me. While I'm usually a savoury breakfast person, I really love the sweet coconut rice pudding plus a soy coffee. The cocktails are also really nice and strong and bright.
Love the atmosphere here! Been a few times now and the pad that is always wonderful. Make sure to try the Thai spring rolls too. The only downside to this place is the parking (or lack thereof) down Sydney Rd. Can’t fault them for that though!
Great attentive service. Beautiful ambiance. Crispy pork was amazing. Everything else was good though the pad see ewe was a bit of a letdown. Bonus point - happy hour drinks all Monday evening.
The food was sensational and the service was impeccable. The food just melted in your mouth and everything had so much flavour. The cocktails were equally amazing!! The only hiccup was the fact that we had to wait a while for food but nevertheless, enjoyed my time and would recommend the place to others
Awesome place which was buzzing on a Monday night.
The cocktails were delicious and the vibe and service were great.
Have been a few times and the tofu curry is AMAZING. 10/10 easily. Have also had the fried chicken which was ok and the cauliflower which was great but sickening towards the end. The smoked lamb dish is good and the pad Thai is okay. Despite the fact that I find the food to be overall “good”, I would still go back 100% because of the great service, vibe, cocktails and experience.
4 stars because I think the food and service is great but isn't as worth it for the price point.
Thai Spring rolls: Great dish, never tried a green chicken curry spring roll and was not disappointed but the price point of $10 for 2 spring rolls just left me feeling some typa way...
Buddha's stir fry: Nice to eat with a side of rice as it has a very strong and rich taste and is also a bit on the spicy side. Also ordered the pad kee mao which packed a punch and retained its authentic flavour, enjoyed it!
Food & service at Tom Phat is always great. I had the vegetarian Pad Thai in a bowl ($15), which was different because most Thai restaurants serve Pad Thai on a dish. The portions were generous & the ingredients fresh. Highly recommend Tom Phat for fresh modern asian food.
Last night I went out for dinner for my mums bday. My sister recommended Tom Phat based on places that she had visited before. We had about 7 people and one baby, and we brought our own cake to celebrate.
The menu is vast and there are a heap of options to choose from. We selected a few different dishes to share accompanied with jasmine rice. The flavours were all on point and each dish was enjoyable. Stand out favourites include the eggplant, soft shell crab salad and beef rendang.
I ordered a lychee mocktail, however it was too bitter and very sour. No one on my table liked it and unfortunately we ordered three.
Aside from that, the service is great and so is the ambience. They were able to accomodate our baby, plus they brought out our cake after dinner.
Overall it was a good experience and I’d definitely come back!
Real rating 4.25 ⭐️
We were walking along Brunswick in the evening and decided to try out Tom Phat which caught our interest! We had ordered two small plates and two mains!
Small plates:
Spicy chicken wings - I was pretty happy with the chicken wings as it was marinated very well and was not overly spicy! Most spicy chicken usually destroys the taste which too much chili but this was just right for me! Let’s just say it was finger licking good!
Kung po cauliflower - usually the norm would be kung po chicken but cauliflower was used instead! I was skeptical about trying this as I was not sure how it would turned out! I was shocked and pleasantly surprised with how it tasted! The peppery and flavorsome sauce went really well with the cauliflower as it had absorbed it! I must say this was a very clever idea making it my fave small plate of the day! 😜
Mains:
Tiger prawns - don’t be fooled by the size of the plate as this dish is actually very filling! Served with red rice and chorizo, this dish was actually pretty tasty and complex! I’d never tried red rice before and I enjoyed it with its sweetness complementing the saltiness of the chorizo and the marinated prawns!
Chilli caramel pork belly - served with green apple Asian slaw, this was my fave main of the day with the pork belly being super thick and juicy and tasting really yummy together with the slaw! I could feel the juiciness of the meat sipping into my mouth as munched into it! 🤤
Overall, we were pleased with the food and would go back to try the other small plates and mains!
Hip and trendy restaurant that serves fusion Asian cuisine that we’ve been to a few times. We enjoyed the duck curry and pork belly in particular. Would love to go back to try and more
Tom Phat has a new Spring menu and ordering a bunch of share plates is the way to go since you’re going to want to try everything. They have a focus on South East Asian flavours with some small plates to start with leading onto the larger plates. Tom Phat - refreshing mocktails. In the hot weather you need cold refreshing drinks and these mint and lychee mocktails did the trick.
Came for a lovely dinner night out with my partner based on his suggestions. We arrived in the evening, in time for happy hour and I will say. The cocktails are delicious. Quite worth the price as well during happy hour. Can recommend the kiwi vodka cocktail. We ordered 3 dishes, two mains and a share plate, and it was quite a good amount of food for sharing. All of it was very flavourful and well balanced. Best one of the night was the lamb curry. 4/5 can recommend!
I had a gorgeous meal at Tom Phat last weekend as part of a foodie collab. We were spoilt for choice and were able to try an extensive list of menu items such as the sticky chicken wings, Kung Po cauliflower, mapo eggplant, lamb and potato roti & a selection of meat and vegan bao. The mocktails are also delicious and refreshing - add a shot, if you're feeling cheeky!
We also tried a selection of their lunch bowls and they were all absolutely phenomenal. We tried the tofu and tempen sticks, the Burmese chicken Biryani, crispy silken tofu & the duck with thick egg noodles.
My standout dishes were the duck with egg noodles, the bao and the silken tofu. The duck had a gorgeous BBQ flavour, the bao was light and fluffy and the tofu was so smooth!
We had all of the dishes lined up along the bench at the front and people were stopping to admire how nice everything looked! We also had a few patrons come up to see what dishes looked like before ordering haha
The vibe in the restaurant was also excellent. They have chill-hop music playing and the warm air was flowing in through the open shop front. The fit-out is very Bali-inspired and there are a range of benches, small tables and communal tables to choose from. The owner is an absolute sweetheart and you can tell that her business and happy customers are very happy to her.
While raving about my visit to various friends in the following week, many people I spoke to had already been to Tom Phat before, proving that it is indeed a popular and well known restaurant in the Brunswick area.
Thank you for an absolutely wonderful visit, team :)
After a massive weekend of drinking and excess I had a hankering for Monday lunch noodle, and my craving was satiated by Tom Phat’s chicken pad Thai! Great venue, laid back tunes and friendly staff; I highly recommend! I will try to get back soon as I also eyed off the pork belly... very tasty food. Yum!
It is cheap, but they don’t skimp on quality ! You’re also only paying for one taco when you order... but it is still very yummy! Would recommend !
We recently tried Tom Phat for the first time and really enjoyed it. Been back again since. We have tried a few things from the breakfast menu, all looked and tasted great. The chicken chilli jam stir fry is really flavoursome. Cool atmosphere and friendly waitstaff.
Modern Thai fusion, and delicious!
Tried the spring rolls, roti, silky tofu and duck. 👌 Everything was super tasty and fresh. Can’t wait to come back.
I love this place. Great fusion style cuisine for a breakfast joint (though they are also open for lunch and dinner of course). My wife loves he roti eggs but I always order from their lunch menu and get their stir-fried Angus minced beef rice dish with the fried egg on top! Excellent. Oh and their pork belly with caramel sauce at night is great too!
Giant portion sizes and super tasty food. Lots of vegetarian options too. We had the roti with peanut satay, vegetarian spring roll and beef mince with basil and chili. Yum!
This place is to die for. Love love their soft shell crab and curry. My friends and I always come here when we crave Asian food. The selection of cocktails is endless and very delicious as well. However I wish their price were a bit softer so we could afford eating here more often!
A Brunny gem serving up Southeast Asian with a contemporary twist. This is no ordinary restaurant, my foodies. This laid back eatery offers some seriously unique dishes with a lengthy, and might I add KILLER, cocktail list too. With a cocktail (or 3) upon arrival, we commenced the feast with the Roast Duck Rice Paper Rolls, layered with basil, mint, lettuce and hoisin. I'm not a massive fan of duck because it can tend to be too chewy when it's not done right. However, this bird was as tender as they come. As we perused the menu, we couldn't go past ordering the Pulled Pork Tacos, contrasted with Asian pickles, hoisin & mayo – PHRESH.
Then for the main event – the MAIN COURSES (how original). We devoured the Vegan Crisp Fried Organic Silken Tofu with red pumpkin curry, basil & lime on rice (both Gluten free AND Vegan – winning!), the Chilli-Caramel Pork Belly and seared scallops, and one of the top recommended Chef’s picks – the Massaman Curry of Goat with peanut, sweet potato, star anise and cassia. We had to supplement this all with some sides of course, including the Crispy Soft Shell Crab Salad with green apple slaw and laksa mayo, and the classic fried rice. Our favourite dish was definitely the succulent Meen Moilee Grilled Tiger Prawns on a bed of red rice & goan chorizo.
We finished on a sweet note of course, with the Peanut Butter Parfait with chocolate ganache and ice cream. Ah, you thought I had finished. You have much to learn, young grasshopper. We dabbled a little more in the desserts, ordering the Coconut Panacotta with berry coulis and Roti Pancake with banana, coconut jam and ice cream. Treat yo’self right?! (We hate ourselves).
Naturally, to wash this all down we ordered an array of cocktails including the Whiskey Smash, Monsoon Season, Saigon South and an Indian-spiced Old Fashioned. Oh and did I mention they have Happy Hour? 5-7pm: $5 wine, $5 beer and $10 cocktails. Run, don’t walk.
On the strength of one child's birthday request for a Beef Rendang we headed to Tom Phat. Sitting at one end of a communal table we grabbed a couple of drinks to start us off. The mocktails - it was before midday - are great value at only $6.00, and I honestly found it impossible to go past the Ho Chi Mint! Passionfruit and mint - yes please. I almost wished it was a super-hot day as I'd know it would be refreshing on the hottest of days. Delicious too. My daughter went for a lychee and lime combo, while the youngsters went hot chocolate, and The Lovely Man had his much needed Cappucino with very thick crema - the kids enjoyed the challenge of guessing how long it would take for the sugar to sink through - 1 minute 30 seconds was the correct guess.
The dishes we chose were the modestly sized Pork Taco, Softshell Crab Taco, both with incredible flavour. Sezchuan Chilli-Salt Squid with Green Chilli Soy - incredibly crispy and tender squid, a delicious dipping sauce, and very modestly spiced (I could have gone with more heat), quite delicious. Pad Thai - and I heard no complaints, but saw an empty plate with this one - he's been looking a long time for a decent version, consider it found. Coconut-Poached Free-Range Chicken with Cashews, Herbs, Beanshoots and a Roasted Chilli Dressing. The poached chicken was incredibly moist and the sauce was rich and decadent, with a lovely tart dressing of he fresh veg. The Rendang young Mr was there for was exactly what he wanted, great roti, tender beef and fabulous flavours. The satay sauce that comes with a snack serve of roti was incredible - I only got a taste of it, but that was enough to tell me, I'd need to come back for that alone. I suffered from dessert envy as I watched the Coconut Panna Cotta pass across the table. Apparently it was silky and luscious....
Tom Phat is a cosy bar and eatery that serves up some super funky and innovative cocktails. Their food is heavily influenced by Southeast Asian cuisine, with street food style snack and delicious curries that I would happily come back for. Would recommend trying out! Their goat curry and soft shell crab dishes are amazing!
Let me tell you about a cafe / bar called Tom Phat. I used to go there years ago for their unique Thai fusion breaky dishes. God knows why I haven't been in so long. I was lucky enough to be invited back on the weekend and boy was I impressed...all over again! Situated on the bustling Sydney Road it's a quaint cafe that offers huge portions of your breaky favourites, as well as delicious lunch offerings and it's open for dinner too. With an impressive cocktail menu and excellent coffees being served, this place will pretty much keep anyone happy. We had the ever-famous crowd favourite Roti Omelette which is tossed eggs, Bacon, roti bread, chives and a roasted tomato salsa. So unique and so delicious. The chargrill from the roti bread runs through the dish and it's so good. We also had the Sweet Corn Fritters with smoked salmon, poached egg, spinach, avocado salsa and Harissa mayo. The corn fritters were packed full of corn, not just that starchy batter you get from some cafes. The smoked salmon added a fancy touch and the Harissa mayo took the whole dish to a new level. What a winner. Finally we shared a couple of the tacos - the pulled pork (which had a sweetness to it which was lovely) and the soft shell crab. Everything was so delicious. I would definitely recommend checking this place out 👍🏻👍🏻
Tom phat is a must visit for those in Brunswick or for those looking for a great place to dine and enjoy fantastic food and service. They offer an extremely extensive menu which caters very generously to vegetarians too which we always appreciate. They offer a variety of Thai inspired dishes both traditional and with a modern twist. The cocktail menu is both impressive and rewarding. The mushroom tacos for entree were flavoursome and soft. We loved the papaya salad which was extremely fresh. The trout fried rice was certainly the stand out dish for us- full of flavour and varying textures. Pad Thai and tofu curry dishes were both great too. Those with a sweet tooth should not look past the peanut butter parfait - gorgeous in appearance and taste and the perfect end to a gorgeous meal.
Fo0die dined as a guest of Tom Phat and as such, the rating does not give any consideration to customer service.
Conveniently located on Sydney Rd with a tram line running along the front, Tom Phat has been in operation for an unbelievable 14 years (!) and is a sibling restaurant to the newer addition to the family, Bhang (an Indian restaurant also located in Brunswick). We arrived at 12pm on a Saturday and found parking along the street which was 2P until 6pm. We later found out there is parking around the back which is has no limit on a Saturday.
>> Interior
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The restaurant has bench type seating out on the street, a small lounge area at the front of the restaurant; perfect for the tapas eating and drinking guests. A communal table located right next to the lounging area that seats 10 with tables are located to the other side with an extension to next door which offers additional seating.
The interior has a concoction of different sections that appear to have been sewed together. The front section has industrial hanging lights with the section at the back looking more aged and much darker. We were seated in the lounging area for the purpose of better lighting but would not recommend trying to eat mains here as tables are low.
>> Food/Drinks
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The menu is extensive with breakfast options through to hearty mains all with South Eastern flavours inspired by the chefs trip through South East Asia. We found the prices on the menu to be very reasonable with a decent portion size for each of the dishes we had. Their mocktails were delicious and a must-have (option to add a shot of house spirit if you wish too!).
All the dishes we tried were delicious in flavour and texture; from the perfectly grilled tiger prawns in the meein moilee grilled tiger prawns to the generous amount of tofu and vegetables in the, not surprisingly, very popular organic silken tofu through to the perfectly balanced flavours in the 'phat tacos'. What surprised us was the sweet corn fritters. We have had plenty of fritters for brekky but never one wrapped in lettuce with mints and dipped into a sweet chilli sauce which surprisingly worked well.
Definitely a restaurant I will be bringing/recommending to friends and family.

The Gluten-Free Foodie
+4.5
Amazing ambience and delicious vegan, gf, red pumpkin curry! Love the experimental breakfasts too.
Great staff and the fact that they sell keep cups is just awesome.
I've bookmarked this for some time and only managed to give it today. Ordered the bumbu duck, chili caramel pork belly, lamb shanks and crispy soft shell crab salad...absolutely yums. It gets pretty busy even on a Sunday night, so booking is recommended. Would love to visit again to try some other items.
We were wandering along Sydney road feeling hungry at 3pm & I looked through the window & thought it looked cosy within. We were promptly attended & started off with Eastern sunset mocktails which contained orange, pineapple, lemon with a hint of grenadine & a sprig of mint which gave it a delicious twist.
I had the duck Bumbu which was amazingly tender & it fell off the bone & was accompanied by just the right amount of chilli (for me) in a lovely tomato and eggplant sambal.
My companion who is a vegan ordered the Nadi Mesantan which consisted of several tofu & tempeh fritters accompanied by red fragrant coconut rice with eggplant chilli sambal. We chose roti bread to accompany the meals. Both meals were garnished with coriander which topped them off perfectly. Would not object to coming back one day.
This is Asian fusion done well in the competitive Brunswick landscape. Today's Chiangmai curry noodles with soft shell crab and herb salad was scrumptious, flavoursome, wholesome and satisfying without overwhelming any of the senses. My friend enjoyed his Jungle Pork, full of aromatic spices in the succulent dish.
Friendly and helpful service in a funky setting, totally befitting the hipster scene of the area. Enjoy a meal or Friday night drinks from their extensive cocktail list.
An assuming little restaurant bursting with a friendly vibe and delightfully good food on the inside!
I love this Place! The service is fantastic and so is the food! The Cointreau chic mousse was light, airy and not too sweet! I couldn't get enough of it!
The corn fritters with the mint yogurt and sweet chilli sauce were SO good as well! Crispy, a little soft on the inside - went really well with the sauces they were served with!
The staff are so warm and friendly. Kept tabs on me the entire time while I was there on whether I'm enjoying my food and my drink!
This place is sure to become one of my favourite evening haunts. Great music, great vibe, great food and great service - what more could one ask for?
So much food envy. South East Asian fusion at its best. The atmosphere is casual and fun, your usual Brunswick atmosphere really. A delightful cocktail in the bar passed the time waiting for a table deliciously. Sweet corn fritters, roti and stay sauce and Szcheun squid kickstarted out tastebuds. Then we moved on to the lamb shank cashew korma and the rendang beef. Everything was bursting with flavour. Came here due to a breakfast recommendation so wouldn't mind returning to check out the morning menu. Would definitely recommend it in turn
Consistently great. Good cocktails, love their Asian breakfasts. Loads of good dinner options. A wee bit pricey I suppose. It well worth it for a special treat
Not to bad in here but the Vietnamese coffee is more like an iced coffee. Had the poached chicken salad and it was really good. Pork belly was ok but not that memorable
Great place, awesome food and friendly staff. I go here often and always bring family and friends. The place is pretty good for breakfast too.
This place is so good! They have such a delicious range of Asian fusion meals and a great cocktail list too! I went there recently and enjoyed the tacos which were really tasty as well as the soft shell crab salad - yum! Great place to go when it's hot as the food is fresh and light and the layout is cool and relaxed. The staff are fantastic, really helpful and also attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend it for any occasion or meal of the day, and will visit again soon!
Overall, quite an enjoyable experience. Food was quite nice, plenty of enticing things on the menu but I opted for the tofu dish. Probably only thing I would say is there was a little too much tofu, but what do you expect with a dish based around tofu!! The wait staff were friendly so that's always nice and the ambiance was good, if anything a little dark.
I'd return to Tom Phat without hesitation !
There's a lot to love at this place, especially the lovely ambience and fantastic food. Unfortunately, the stools are terribly uncomfortable - even McDonald's has more comfortable seating!
I'm always fascinated by the lack of any sign of children in Brunswick area - which is great in terms of not having kids running around and making noise.
Tom Phat offers excellent service, the waitstaff are all very nice. Coffee is good but for some reason I'm not a massive fan of their fusion flavours. Some dishes I like, some I don't - I think it is just my taste preferences. If they had a take away menu at a slightly cheaper price I would try more dishes. The restaurant always has a good atmosphere. I go there for the odd cheeky wine.
Amazing food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. The flavours made me feel like I was back travelling south east Asia. Happy hour was a bonus with the house red being well above the standard of that of a house wine. We got the roti, rice paper rolls, jungle curry (favourite) and the chicken chilli jam stir fry. I am very very full!
A really interesting fusion Asian menu, especially the breakfast menu, so nice to see a place that isn't just the normal smashed avo, granola and big breakfast! Love this place, always great food and good staff too.
Have generally enjoyed their friendly service, nice happy hour drinks and great food - especially the pork belly and curries! Went back again tonight - the duck sounded great on the menu but was unfortunately rather tough and hard to cut off the bone... Murtabak was good! Desserts were good. Will probably go again based on past happy times but might steer clear of the duck!
Went last Friday night to this place and I found it amazing, between six and seven is cocktail happy hour, A large array of cocktails and, the couple that I had were delicious. For starters we had the phat tacos, The pulled pork Asian pickles and mayo tacos were absolutely delicious. For the main we had the chilli caramel pork belly served with succulents scallops and a side of fresh Asian herb salad, also ordered the pat Thai noodles with prawns, peanuts, free range eggs, chives and bean shoots, all the mains were absolutely fresh and delicious and full of flavour. trendy place, very hipster and great music thoroughly recommend it to go with friends and enjoy halfprice cocktails and awesome food.👍
Nice cocktails (and very good value at happy hour), and fairly decent food. The pork belly was very good with the included side salad and scallops - nice balance of flavours, and the chilli vodka cocktail was amazing! Goat massaman was ok, the meat was fall off the bone tender, but the curry sauce itself was a little thin I thought. Roti was so so. A nice chilled out ambiance, tables are quite close to each other but that's to be expected at this kind of price level I think.
Overall good value for the quality of food, would definitely return.
Great cocktails, great atmosphere! Love the fully open front. Makes you feel summery even in winter. Pleasant staff. I felt taken care of. I have tried only their tacos and coconut salad. It was ok.
I love this place. Food is amazing, good service with a smile and great atmosphere with funky decor. One of my all time favs and have been there many times.
Always worth coming to Brunswick for a meal at Tom Phat. Stand out dish is the pork belly, scallops and asian salad. Make sure u get in early for a table at dinner as the place does get packed and also daily happy hour til 7pm although just make sure your cocktail is included in the happy hour deal.
Quite different choices when it comes to breakfast offerings. And sometimes places that are open of an evening can feel confusing about whether it's a breakfast place or not. We loved our meals and coffee was good! Great breakfast for a hangover cure!
I had been really eager to try this place after reading rave reviews. I finally came here with my boyfriend and ordered the poached chicken salad, pork taco, yellow curry chicken and chicken chilli jam stir fry. The entrées were very nice but the pork was a little dry. The curry was nice but not great. Chicken on the bone was tasty but too fiddly and the curry itself was missing some depth. The stir fry however was delicious. This was the standout dish of the night. The atmosphere is relaxed and very brunswick, but overall i wouldn't rush back. There are too many thai restaurants with better food out there.
I have eaten at a diverse range of restaurant in Melbourne BUT this is a STAND OUT!
Cannot rave enough highly enough about the place from the food to the service!
Love the duck curry and the peanut butter dessert! Cannot wait to return!
Food was delicious! Didnt have a reservation so was sat at the very end and it was very dimly lit. It is quite a small place with narrow seating arrangements. When the food came, you kinda forget everything else because it was absolutely delicious. However i found it a little pricey. We had two mains and two beers and the bill came up to $80. $30 for a Thai curry on a normal weekday dinner is too expensive for me. The food is good though. No regrets on trying at all but probably won't return.
So lucky to live around the corner from this place, the food just never fails to disappoint! My friend and I both ordered one of the tacos each to start... the soft shell crab and pulled pork, both of which were super fresh and tasty. We then followed up by sharing the goat curry which was so soooo tender and melted in your mouth, and the chilli jam chicken dish. Again, simply delicious! Always recommend this fab place to anyone looking for a great dinner.
This place is always busy - lucky enough to grab a table for 2 (unbooked) on a Thursday night around 730pm (next people in after us had to wait 20-30 minutes).
Great atmosphere - generally buzzing, noisy without being intrusive. Very friendly staff - they make you feel very welcome and are also efficient. It's not the cheapest option on Sydney Road - and some of the specials hit $30 (duck). But a smoked trout & egg with curry leaves, tomato and cardamon with fried rice was tasty (thankfully the taste of the trout was not masked but he curry leaves). Duck was very sweet and small for the money.
Happy to come back and it's a fun place for groups.
Trendy Thai spot with exceptional service and great meals. We enjoyed the Pad Thai (which was easily modified from the menu) and the free-range chicken and Chilli stir fry.
The atmosphere was great, the lighting low and the decor on point.
Nothing seemed too hard and the staff were prompt and polite.
Meals sit around $17-21 which may be a touch more than the conventional Sydney rd cheap eat but at Tom Phat, you really do get what you pay for!
Very nice food and atmosphere!
The Thai food was good and the cocktails are also quite fancy. I tried the fancy one and was impressed. It is a good place to eat and drink and have a good time
The crispy caramelised pork belly was veey nice. The people next to us were having the duck which also looked very nice. The green papaya salad was very tame, could of done with chilli and more zing. The salt and chilli squid was nice.
Absolutely love this place. Went here for dinner and indulged in the soft shell crab taco's for starters and had the coconut poached chicken salad and the pad thai noodles with prawns. The chicken was moist and full of delicate coconut flavour but the highlight was the pad thai. Honestly the best pad thai i have had and the prawns were cooked perfectly. Will definitely be returning as the staff are super friendly and make great recommendations on what to order.
