Will come back for:
+ Spicy beef noodle soup
+ Grilled combination
This modern Vietnamese eatery is another great addition to this part of town. We dropped in here for dinner over the weekend, and was treated to deliciously generous servings of grilled meats (grilled combination) and hearty and flavourful spicy beef noodle soup. We also had the xo fried rice which was smokey, and presented nicely in a clay pot. And the bao pork belly which was salty and moorish. Prices were reasonable for what you get and the service was friendly and quick. A great option for Vietnamese cuisine in this part of town.
No nonsense just tasty, fresh food that won’t break the bank. Dropped in a few times now and it’s truly satisfied whatever it was I didn’t know that I was craving with their extensive menu at a price that certainly won’t break the bank either!
Came here with some friends for Saturday lunch, was pretty quiet which was nice. Menu had a good selection/variation. Had rice vermicelli and loved how you can pick one, two or three different meats to go with it. Got the nem nuong filling with grilled chicken. Huge serve!
Pho was not bad too !
I really like the atmosphere and vibes here, good decor and dim lighting. Seating is well spaced out, cute little bar as well. They had a good menu, very reasonably priced for Brunswick.
We got the bbq pork bao for entre and beef slice pho (large) and beef stir fry in Satay sauce.
Was actually disappointed in the Bao, as the bao itself was stale, most likely had been microwaved. The filling was also lacking the pickled carrots etc and there was no sauce? I probably wouldn’t order that again.
The Pho broth was nice!! I enjoyed it, however not much beef was served for a large dish. Also, with pho the beef is raw and gets cooked in the broth... when the pho came out the beef was already fully cooked which made the meat more tough... it was fine to eat though I still enjoyed it.
I would visit again! There’s a few items on the menu I’d like to try and hopefully come back for a couple of drinks with more friends.
Really recommend the vermicelli noodle salad. The lunch time special for $12.50 is such a great deal. The flavours of the tofu and sauce is great! Service is good and the food doesn’t take long to come out. The inside of the restaurant has been fitted out really nicely, they just need to fix the store front to come across more open and inviting and I’m sure they would get a lot more customers coming in.
We came to Okane a newly opened Vietnamese restaurant and throughly enjoyed the food ! We ordered the chicken spring rolls , the salt and pepper tofu, the beef skewers; and the pork belly bao. The favourite was definitely the pork belly, full of flavour paired with soft sweet bao buns. The salt and pepper tofu was also so good, they use the silken egg tofu so the texture is extremely soft and silky.
For dessert we had deep fried ice cream and coconut jelly - I loved the coconut Jelly the most! Duc the owner was extremely welcoming and having had decades of restaurant experience and being head chef in the kitchen you know your in good hands
Thanks for having us in!
O’Kane is a secret, hidden Vietnamese gem amongst the up-and-rising foodie hub in the trendy suburb of Brunswick. It’s the perfect spot for a homely, authentic Southeast – Asian meal with the whole family after a cold Winter’s day in Melbourne, or to wind down with a comforting bowl of steaming pho, so that with each flavoursome sip, it washes away the weariness of the day. O’Kane is run by a dedicated, Vietnamese owner and chef, Nhan, who happily shared with us his flavours of home. One of Southeast Asian restaurant’s biggest pitfalls for me, is often how some dishes taste very similar towards the end, as everything becomes an overwhelming mix of lemon, chilli and saltiness – but this is something that O’Kane fortunately diverts away from, making it a classic Vietnamese restaurant in Brunswick that I wouldn’t hesitate coming back to.
O’Kane is amongst the many Vietnamese eateries dotted along Sydney Road. With their authentic recipes and fresh, quality dishes like the Pho, it’s no doubt proving to be popular with the locals. Coupled with amazing specials on offer, you can count on O’Kane for a delicious yet affordable Vietnamese feed.
A nice place for a quiet meal. Food wasn’t anything mind blowing but it wasn’t over priced and was quite tasty. The wontons were quite nice and the skewers were good too. Service was good but they had run out of a lot of things on the drinks menu.
We now have been there 5 times. It is so good that we will not stop going. Great food and great service and great ambiance.. Nani and his team makes sure we are looked after. I love the chicken ribs and the silken tofu. Excellent. Keep up the great work and excellent food.
The pho was average, pretty homely ambience. I’ll return for other food but not going to be my first to-go to place. Staff is lovely though!

A very authentic Viet place located on Sydney road. It has a very cool industrial loft vibe with a bar. We started our meal with prawn spring rolls. They were nice and crispy go well with fresh mint and lettuce. Our favourite has got to be the nem nuong, hard to explain but it's pretty much somewhere between grilled pork sausage and meatball. The caramelised pork belly is also another dish to try.

O'Kane is not quite like your typical Vietnamese restaurant. The moody and intimate lighting, the bar seating, and the comfy and plush interior aren't often associated with Vietnamese eateries. However, the food left me no doubt about its merit.
My friend and I came for lunch and were treated to a wonderful feast. Starting off with prawn rice paper rolls, these prawns were so fresh and juicy, and the thin rice paper rolls were delightful. We also had the Grilled Combination which comprised of pork skewers, beef wrapped in betel leaves, pork patties (nem nuong), and grilled chicken breast, served with a side of green papaya salad. The pork patties were the most delicious of the bunch, with its garlicky, aromatic and smoky flavours.
Next up was the caramelised pork belly and this was, without a doubt, our favourite dish. The sauce had a hint of sweetness underlying it, and was bold and punchy courtesy of the black pepper. The pork belly was extremely tender and moist, and this dish would go well with both rice and bao. That sauce is made for slurping, don't let any of it go to waste.
I also really enjoyed the salt and pepper silken tofu, and silky it was. The crisped outer layer and the silky inside went hand in hand, providing a textural delight with each mouthful. Well-seasoned and executed skillfully, what else could you ask for?
We ended our meal with the banana in sticky rice smothered in lush coconut cream. The almond flakes provided the much needed crunch, and the pandan sauce added an extra element of flavour.
So much delicious food, and we were left rubbing our tummy in satisfaction after. Thank you for having me!
Came there with a group of 6, the food is nice and the prices are reasonable. The interior looks very pretty. Caramelised pork belly is the highlight.
We were kindly invited to O’Kane for dinner and decided to attend on a Saturday night. The place was almost full and buzzing. We had a small language barrier communication issue with the waitress but were seated quickly after.
We ordered the prawn springrolls for starters. The prawns in the springrolls were bursty and sweet and it came with cold crisp lettuce which we used to wrap the springrolls in and dipped it into the sauce which was spicy, sweet, sour and umami.
We also ordered the grilled beef wrapped in betel leaf. It came in skewers with a young papaya salad. The beef was juicy and tender and was absolutely delicioua and the salad was full of flavours and textures.
For mains we ordered the caramelised pork belly and the eggplant stuffed with prawns in sweet and sour sauce. We had them with white rice. The pork belly was tender and fatty and delicious coated in sauce. The eggplant was soft on the inside yet retained it’s shape and the prawns were fresh and coated in sweet and sour sauce. Delicious.
We could not fault the food at all. The food was also really reasonably priced.
The only thing which could be improved was its service. There were only 2 serving staff on the floor and they had to serve, answer phones, collect money, make drinks, clean tables, seat customers etc. They were really busy and some patrons tried to get their attention a number of times to no avail. They also had limited English skills and did not understand some things we asked them. One waitress delivered the wrong dish to our table and looked confused when we said it was not ours. Also the main dishes we ordered should have come out at the same time but one came out much later than the other. As the restaurant is new we hope that these issues are just temporary. The owner is the head chef and is really friendly. Thank you O’Kane for inviting us to try your food. We really enjoyed the food and highly recommend this place for amazing Vietnamese food.
Great evening with the girls. We shared everything. Service was good. Food delicious- we will be back with different friends tonight. Clare

Came here last night to try their food as getting a recommendation from my friend. The food was definitely very delicious, particularly Pho and beef papaya salad. My kids also love chicken rib. I saw they were realy enjoying. Staffs were very friendly, they often came to check if everything was ok for us and talking with the kids. We plan to come back next week to celebrate Mother's Day there.
