Not sure why this place has got such an average overall rating, it's awesome!
Since Fishbone closed further down the road there was nowhere left in walking distance that did decent fish and chips till this place came along. And ya know I actually think it's better than Fishbone, the chips are hand cut and delicious. I always get grilled fish and it's always cooked perfectly, definitely not frozen. The only thing I wish you would do is a serve of just grilled calamari on its own, not in a salad. Other than that, it's great! The owners are a really nice family, highly recommended.
I think some people get delusions of grandeur when they get takeaway fish and chips. We picked up some takeaway, two burgers, chips, dimmies, potato cakes for around the $30 mark. The burgers were juicy and full of flavour, and the chips and were great. Will definitely return for takeaway fish and chips.
Love this place! Everything is clean spotless and the venue is relaxing, great for catchups with indoor & outdoor seatin. excellent service and best burgers in town prepared by Chris! Cant wait to go back :)
We really liked this place, we decided to eat in and have the mixed entrees and fish platter and we both thought it was great value for money and the service was so lovely. I really recommend you try this place out for take away or eat in as it was delicious.
This place is awesome! Not your average fish n chip shop at all! Amazingly prepared fish, crispy, buttery, melt in your mouth potato cakes. The team behind the operation are a couple of legends, so warm and generous. My crumbed snapper & chips with Quinoa salad on the side was amazing and left me feeling amazing! They're also licensed and have an inside/outside dining option with a range of mainstream beers and great locally brewed beers from Temple Brewing Company just around the corner! Two thumbs up!

A fancier alternative to the normal boring fish & chips. We had the Banquet A - Mixed entrees & mixed fish platter which included two crispy fish tacos and two big spring rolls as entrees and three pieces of fish (flake, barramundi and blue grenadier) cooked their way. Two salads (chickpea with cauliflower and rocket leaves, barley with capsicum and red onion) and a big bowl of chips were also part of the meal. All the food was plentiful and tasty but just a tad too oily (I guess it can't be helped sometimes but more and more people are getting health conscious these days so surely the less greasy the better it would be) so we found it hard to finish everything. The salads were nice but also overdressed in oil, otherwise they would've been great to cleanse the palate in between the fish. Favourite was the blue grenadier of course, so soft and tender and tasted quite fresh. Dessert was a filo pastry (warm, homemade and freshly fried too) and two scoops of ice cream. We had the ice cream but couldn't eat the pastry at all because we were just way too full. Felt bad to leave it and be wasted so I asked for a tiny takeaway container to take it home... hopefully I'll still feel like eating it tomorrow. The interior of the restaurant is quite comfy with a few big booths that can seat 2-4 people at each one, but the air is a bit hot and stuffy inside because they use an open kitchen so sitting outside on a nice day might be a better idea. The owner was friendly. This is a pretty good place overall and worth checking out if you're in Brunswick and feel like some deep-fried stuff/fish and chips.
I LOVE that this place is in our area! It's consistently good and they are so nice every time we come in. Their current rating is totally inaccurate - we come back time and time again because it's awesome!
Excellent. Friendly warm service. We started with two types of oysters (kilpatrick and beer battered) and some battered scallops with miso mayo and also some potato cakes. All Delicious. Then two of us had battered flake with hand cut chips while the other had chermoula dusted grilled blue grenadier. Great - the flake was thick and juicy and the grenadier was a really tasty healthy alternative. The hand cut chips were nice too, and we squeezed in the slaw which was with olive oil and some hot English mustard. We sat outside which was perfect as the weather was mild and it was good people watching. We will definitely be back soon.
Really impressed .... Great service , the kind you don't even notice ....the staff just appear at the appropriate time. The meals were superb , salmon , blue grenadier and the chilli coleslaw are standouts. We will return !!
Absolutely delicious! We ordered takeaway - my girlfriend had the grilled snapper with Quinoa salad, while I had the beer-battered Barramundi with chips. Some of the best takeaway fish and chips we've had in years ; both meals used high quality pieces of fish, cooked perfectly. So good that it's bound to become a regular Sunday night ritual for the two of us. Looking forward to trying some of the house spice mixes!
A variety of beautiful, quality fish, cooked in a variety of tasty options. Salads are made on site and are all fantastic and fresh. Chip portions are massive. Can eat out on Lygon street, in the spacious restaurant area or out back in a nice court yard. Staff are all lovely, genuine people and the service is great. What more can I say! Oh, they make their own bloody tartare which NOBODY seems to do any more, and it's excellent.
Great fish and chips. We had the barramundi and the snapper takeaway. High quality, cooked really well and defiantly not left with a heavy oily taste. These were delicious. Highly recommend
BEST vegie burger in town ! (Beet root chickpea and feta yummmm) lovely fish GREAT chips .. Will be back !
