Review Con's Super Deli - Brunswick

The best local fish and chips I've had in Melbourne (the chips are beautifully on the inside and crispy on the outside, not too oily too, flake was fantastic as well) - exactly what you'd want from a local takeaway and super nice owners, high rec!

Con is an absolute gem. Impeccable food and service with care and a smile. The old school feel of the shop is unbeatable and hard to come across nowadays. We love supporting Cons.

Our favourite take away shop hands down! We found Con’s by chance one day over 5 years ago and even after moving away still make the trip for a delicious egg and bacon roll or roast beef. It’s an amazing old school takeaway joint. Everything is made fresh as you order. It’s a mom and pop business run by a beautiful family. On Melville at a tram stop plus parking available on the street on Melville and Victoria so easy to visit! I wish I had photos to add but the food doesn’t last long enough to snap a pic!

Like stepping back in time. A local fish and chip shop with the friendliest service, fresh, delicious food, and a corner store atmosphere that you don't come across often anymore.

I live in the area and this is an amazing old school fish and chip shop. Highly recommend.

Came here a while ago maybe 6 weeks ago. Had some fish and chips with potato cakes. Exactly what I needed. I remember the fish being fresh and the potato cakes have that crisp, light batter with fluffy potato inside. Couldn't complain. It's exactly the 'take-away' meal I was after. No bells and whistles. No inflated prices. And the staff look as tho they've been employed their for a while.... a 'family business' vibe. Will be back. (I'm eating fish and chips from a competitor tonight and hence why I wanted to post this review, so i remember next time to drive that extra kilometer to Cons)

Brilliant old fashioned fish and chippery with a huge range of burgers and sandwiches as well. Piping hot coffee. Very friendly service and decent prices. This is a classic old school takeaway and I hope it never changes. Right next to the bus and tram stops. I wish every suburb still had a place like this.

This is a great place to get some classic fish and chips and have a great chat with the owners. the owners are incredibly nice and their souvlaki is perfecto!!! their fridge is filled with many drinks that taste fresh!

Great food hard to find a better burger. Only downside is the customer service the lady there can be a bit rude for example muttering about my order when i simply asked for no onion in the burger and making comments about this to her husband.

Nice clean fish and chip shop. The oil seemed clean as the fish and chips were a good colour. Well cooked and tasty. I had a couple of minor problems. I also ordered calamari rings but they turned out to be minced fish as opposed to calamari so could be any sort of fish product formed into a ring shape. This is not a calamari ring in my opinion. The fish was also pre-battered and so not fresh. It was tasty enough but could be better. They're a solid chippy delivering fast food at a reasonable price.

Old school milk bar at its finest. Hamburgers are dynamite, as are the chips and dimmys. Owners are lovely delivering proper service. Real shame places like this are disappearing from Melbourne. Get in before its gone.

Extremely rude customer service. I was scolded for taking a photo of their menu so that I could order for a later date. Definitely will not be going back there. Especially with Joe's fish and chips a few metres away.

I come here for a burger with the lot and a Sth Melb market dim sim whenever I am in the area. The burgers are always consistent and never ever greasy. Love it!

Simple food but very cheap. Con and his wife are very friendly. I can recommend the roast beef rolls and the salad rolls. The hamburgers are also pretty good.

As far as fish and chip shops go, Cons gets it really right. Using good quality ingredients such as proper gummy shark flake in the fish and chips really makes a difference, the kind of difference that makes you want to drop in on a friday night on the way home from work. Not expensive and very friendly family owned business.

Fish and Chips on a hot day. Grilled fish was really tasty. The ratio of chicken salt on the hot chips was perfect. The lemon provided a great zesty flavour to the fish. Best fish and chips in Melbourne. The place was clean and it didn't have a heavy, greasy air-feel when you walk in.

Love Con's Super Deli but more importantly the owners Con and Sophie. They are lovely people and consider us friends. We go there not just for their awesome food but to have a chat to Con and Sophie. They always make us feel welcome like family. Try their food you won't be disappointed. The bonus will be that you have made two new friends.

You've gotta try this for yourself... tasty!. We go here all the time, and love chatting with the owners. Con's Super Deli have the yummiest fish, salad + chips, as well as to die for all-day bacon + egg roll. They pour so much love into their shop and the food. Seriously, it's amazing. <br/><br/>The bacon + egg roll + cappuccino is only $6.95! Other cafes will give you the tiniest amount of bacon and charge so much more. Next on the list to try is their beef burger + milkshake. We sometimes get take away, but often pull up a stool and watch the world go by. Feels like Con's is the best kept secret in Brunswick!<br/><br/>A true no frills Melbourne foodie institution. You can't go wrong.
