Best restaurant in town according to Tripadvisor so here we are... Located right by the beach. We even returned twice just so we can sit next to the window and enjoy some water views. We have tried a variety of dishes and enjoyed some Josef Chromy wines to complete the experience. Highlights: ambience of the place. The complimentary bite sized appetisers were a surprise and a nice touch. Food is nicely presented and delicious. We had steak on the second night and both were perfectly cooked. Lowlights: the specials were written on a board which was carried to each table by the waiter; a little naff in my opinion.
I really enjoyed my meal here. The staff made me feel welcome and the food, in particular the sage and pumpkin tortellini, was delicious. I'll definitely be back when I'm next in Burnie.
This was a wonderful meal. I had the beef fillet; superbly cooked as ordered with the added surprise of accompanying vegetables. Usually these have to be ordered separately!! Thank you
Amazing 9 course degustation dinner!!! However, lacks the ability to match the food with authentic local wines. Slight delay in service but I guess the busy atmosphere could be excused!
Nice environment and friendly staff. Ordered warm bread(entree) and pork&rice(main). Bread is s generous serve. The rice is slightly too salty and the pork is a bit plain.
Maybe I'm spoiled by Groupon in VIC and I found it disappointed that restaurants in Tassie rarely have discounts.
I had the special - Cape Grim beef rib slow cooked in James Squire Copper Ale with aromatic spices, glazed with a herb and potato mash and roasted beetroot.
Sorry no photos of this one, it looked, smelt so delicious that I immediately savoured every last bite wanting to lick the plate clean.
The local Hellyers Road 12yo single malt also went down a treat.
The waterfront location is just spectacular and the staff friendly and accommodating.
Definitely my go to place anytime I travel to Burnie
Great food. Amazing dessert. Friendly staff. Highly recommended if you are in Burnie. The Tamar valley yogurt mousse dessert was simply amazing. Everything about the degustation menu was fabulous.
As a very rare thing these days, my husband and I ventured out to a restaurant with our 5.5 month old. It could have gone either way...but due, I'm sure, to the warm welcome she received, the only noise he made were squeals of delight! She could clearly see her parents REALLY enjoying their dinner! We had the seafood platter followed by the dessert tasting plate. And to our surprise, we were served an amuse bouche to begin and a gorgeous coconut sorbet - very nice! The seafood platter was devine, my highlight being the clamari, my husband's being the oysters. For the price, I thought it a little on the small side - but of a high quality. The desserts were fabulous! 3 different tastes to wrap up the meal, each one super yummy. The restaurant decor is simple, elegant and not overstated. Shiny white tables, sans table cloths, and very shiny glassware and cutlery let you know that you were somewhere a cut above...but not somewhere stuffy. And the view is gorgeous...full glass to the front and side enables enjoyment of the ocean and beach below. The service couldn't be faulted - despite being there very early and ordering small (on account of our daughter's unknown reaction), the three staff members we dealt with were all warm and friendly, and professional. I would recommend this venue.
Seafood and fresh local produce. Unassuming gem on the esplanade opening for brunch till late. Had the freshest local oysters with moscato granita which hit the right spot. A nice contrast was my main which was a heavy (just the way I like it) seafood chowder. Had the orange and Cointreau creme brûlée to finish off and it was just a little too cloying for me. I didn't like their coffee either. The service was just superb, and overall, this is a splendid place for a spot of lunch!
An amuse of braised lamb shoulder gets the tastebuds kicking; deliciously rolled in brik pastry and served with goat curd and salsa verde.
