Review My Chinese Kitchen 秦淮食府 - Burwood

Great dishes. What we ordered are all tasty, especially the yellow bridge pancake, so crispy, melted in your mouth, really yum. We will come back again.

Food is served promptly, good for large gatherings. Decor is quite old and dated but quality of the food aint too bad, and leans more on the traditional chinese cusine.

Food is ok but can be expensive for what it is and unfortunately the service is pretty average. Have been here a few times in hope that it changes but the latest experience has made me put it to the ban list. Whilst there were only a couple of customers, we had to wait over 45 minutes for 3 take away dishes. It also appeared that he friends, who ordered after us, has their take away meals prepped first. Very disappointing.

This place used to be really good with their food quality and service level but unfortunately both have dropped significantly. Very disappointed! I will not come back for sure.

I had been loving and recommending this place to my friends before. However I got quite disappointed with recent visit. The table was not cleaned properly and portion of food was much smaller. The taste of some dishes were different to previous visits. I understand that current pandemic impacted on the industry badly, but seeing their staff putting thumb in the bowl of rice when holding it and then put on my table, I really got disgusted. After the dinner, I vomited at that night. My husband had diarrhea. We are not going back again.

Not bad!

I love their food and I always go there when I can.

Authentic Nanjing dishes in sydney. Slow service so don't expect a quick meal and go. Make sure you bring cash for the meal or prepared to pay surchange.

We ordered the Nanjing duck, the Yangzhou meatballs and the pork in special sauce. The pork was the undisputed winner. It's hard to beat a fork-tender piece of meat braised in a delicious, slightly sweet sauce complemented by plain white rice. The other two dishes were solid but had a tough act to follow. The duck didn't look appetising as it was so pale but we enjoyed the natural flavours of the meat. Having said that, a sauce would make it more interesting. The large meatballs came with bean thread noodles (tang hoon). Meatballs were a little mushy in texture for me but that might be the way they're meant to be? I'm not familiar enough with Huaiyang cuisine to comment! Overall, the food was tasty and I'd happily return.

I went there without any expectations and was highly disappointed and angry. (apparently it is very busy usually and people book there first before going but we got lucky - I don't know see why so many people go though) Firstly, we were sitting there for perhaps 5-10 min as they cleaned up the table for us and then spent another 5min staring around aimlessly until they gave us a menu. Secondly, it took so long for the food to arrive- by the way, we ordered pretty simple dishes such as some buns which they probably just had to place into the oven to warm it up for a bit but still took ages. Thirdly, every dish was TOO SALTY, even the dishes they had strongly recommended to us. Even I with my savoury tongue could not handle it- it was as if they forgot to look at how much salt to put in. It was so salty that we were very tempted to order multiple bowls of plain rice (but didn't as we ordered fried rice- which was also very salty) and had to have a bowl of water to wash down the food. Perhaps the only good things there were the tea (to cleanse the salt), the atmosphere- there was a friendly buzz of chatter- and one of the waitresses (she was exceptionally polite and informative). Strongly do not recommend this place!

Having been to this restaurant a couple of times before, I had been impressed with the authentic taste of many dishes.

However, one dish the other night tasted completely off.
The owner stubbornly denied that anything was wrong with the dish.

Service otherwise was fine, and the other dishes were pleasant.

Had the $39 deal, 2 dishes and included soup and vegetables and rice. It was good overall, we had the pepper beef or something like that, the dish was okay but the beef had more chewy bits than i would have liked. The other dish was egg plant which i really enjoyed, it was like potato wedges, crunchy and covered in a sweet sauce, eat it quickly before it gets soggy.

Went here with all family members as it was highly recommended by colleagues. . Expecting a yummy and pleasant dinner. Got totally the opposite. Not enough bowl. Plates are dirty. Took fifteen minutes plus to order and the food arrived in an hour. None of us is impressed with the food service or hygiene . The food is also overpriced.

The waitstaff has zero product knowledge and pays no respect to the elderly.

Couldn't be bothered describing the dishes as none of us is happy with any of the recommended selections.

By far the worst dining experience in my entire life.

How can they serve such a disgusting food with very poor service. Do they really know how to prepare soups? The place is the best but they have to workout if they want to stand the best

You know the thought were you see a lot of Chinese people in a Chinese restaurant it must be good? Well not this time!
Been here for lunch and now dinner,it was full of people by the time we left.
First the ambience, limited and the table cloth is either trying to be bronze or Gold colour but it just looks old.
Price wise a little more than expected.
Service wise the food came out really slow. We tried to cancel our last dish and what happens? They bring out a dish we already had! The waitress do speak English but maybe it's more limited than I thought.
Food wise it was pretty plain I was expecting more taste out of everything we had. My partner didn't mind it though but like myself was left unimpressed.

They give a lot of tasty Southern China Cuisine especially some Huaiyang style dishes.

Really love their wanton and salty duck.

Worth to go to have a try.

We were in burwood to play netcafe but we were craving for peaking duck so here we are!The food here was 'OK' nothing great, the service was normal Asian service (lack of service) the restaurant itself looks like a typical chinese restaurant in Hong kong. Not much to say about the food, the duck was cold, the dumpling skins were thick and the salt and pepper chicken was very salty. The only good thing was the sweet and sour pork.

The dishes came out from the kitchen promptly, and we were off to a great start with the soup! Studded with white bait, the soup was one that I had never seen at any Chinese restaurant before and was very tasty.
Beyond Bourke Street
Rationalising that I've been living off of catfish for the past week, I insisted that we order the Spice Salt Soft Shell Crab, which arrives piled in a golden heap. The crab has been battered and deep-fried, and is wondrously crunchy without tasting greasy at all - the mark of a deft hand at controlling the temperature of the frying oil. "I've been eating steamed fish all week", I repeated in my mind, as I helped myself to what seemed like half the plate.
Bitemeshowme
Tender, fatty, juicy and delicious glistening pork ribs (almost pulled pork like) bathe in a special shallot sauce and absorb all the possible flavours.

The absolute standout of the meal were the dumplings. They were pan-fried jiaozi, and fabulous. The dumpling wrappers were stunning, the meat gobble-able, and the bases beautiful and crispy. The only thing stopping them from perfection was slightly too much oil on the base of each dumpling. Otherwise, ahhhh!
Le Bon Vivant
Occasionally you order a dish that unexpectedly delivers the wow factor in spades, and the pork ribs in special shallot sauce ($18.80) at Lisa Wang’s My Chinese Kitchen in Burwood is most definitely one of those. Presented in foil, the aromatics seduce you, before the depth of flavour and indulgent texture; induce more than just one sigh. Whilst not all the dishes hit that lofty mark, it is most definitely worth a visit for…
Chopinand Mysaucepan
Slow-braised pork ribs in foil. I would come back just for this particular dish. The rest of our meal was quite average.
