Review Hong Kong Bing Sutt - Burwood

Trân Lý (Jane)
We came at around 2pm and lucky there was one table left. There was a long queue before. First impression was the table filled with menu which is very interesting! And there a variety of dishes! We order the beef and raw egg clay pot rice, salted egg fried soft bone chicken, fish cake lettuce soup, signature milk tea and coffee mixed milk tea. There was a bit of a wait for the food. But all was very tasty! I also like the soy sauce came with the rice, and their garlic chilli oil. Both mixed with the rice gave a flavour bomb! Will come back to try other dishes as well 👍

The three treasure dish is very small and not worth the price, wouldn't get it. Clay pot chicken and mushroom was tasty although there are fragments of bone to watch out for, they are like landmines for your teeth if you are a fast eater. Service was attentive.

3.5 stars experience overall. Comfort food - we had the Fishballs Noodle Soup, HK style Cheong Fun with sweet sauce and Claypot Rice with Pork Patties & Preserved Mui Choi. Reminds me what you can get from food stalls in some Asian countries. No frill service and reasonably priced. The place gets busy during peak lunch and dinner hours. Expect to wait for a table.

Mmm the food and service over all was com si com sa. Nice Hong Kong Style Deco. Fish ball rice noodle don’t expect the bouncy fish ball, taste just average. Pork chop it tasted abit off, it came with 1/2 piece of toast and not so nice scrambled egg. The iced milk tea was just too sweet for my liking, love the look of the bottle. I was abit disappointed with the overall quality standard of produce and taste. Didn’t enjoy my brunch.

This restaurant was introduced to me by my Hongkongese friend. The menu and the flavor here are authentic without any doubt. However, the waiting time could be unbelievably long, so there is a one-star minus here.

Decent place with solid food. Expect a wait during peak times such as weekends. The service is pretty good, staff is not rude. Noodle is great but the beef is not seasoned and tender enough. The salted egg fries and chicken wings are great. The laksa is terrific. The average level of food quality is great though. Please note between 3pm to 5pm it's afternoon tea time with limited menu options

Interesting food. I ordered "fish balls and lettuce soup" which sounds kinda strange but it was actually really tasty (it actually comes with 6 fish balls but I already ate 2). The spam and fried eggs on rice is exactly that, although it is called "evil pork luncheon" on the menu. It's a simple dish, but still tasty.

There is massive hype around this place and since opening, has seen constant queues. We managed to go during off peak hours and found the afternoon tea sets rather small, underwhelming in terms of flavor, and not quite worth the price. Might have to come back and try the other dishes.

It was my first time here. We came in as customers. I gave them my order and they never confirmed with me they just walked off with my order paper. There's one dish with the choice of rice or spaghetti and they just assumed we wanted rice without asking to confirm our order. When the dish arrived it was rice so we asked if we could swap the rice with spaghetti but they refused. We asked immediately when it arrived and so the dish was untouched. As soon as we started taking photos of our food you approached us and asked if everything was okay and if we were media people. We told you we were taking photos for Instagram and that's when you said you should have told us only so we could HAVE made your dish more presentable. Only after you found out we were mediapeople you decided to swap our other rice dish for the spaghetti. For the rest of the dinner session your staff kept eyeing us which made us feel very uncomfortable. Incidentally enough my friends were there that night and they did not enjoy your service either The same thing happened to them as well in regards to your staff not confirming orders with customers. My opinion is that I don't think people should be treated differently because of a title. I even left a review Instagram and you have seen it and ignored it.

I must say - being an occasional regular - this restaurant has shown me ever-improving food and customer service. I am very glad to be able to eat in a good quality hk style restaurant in Sydney Keep it up and thank you !!!

The retro decors, with my favourite Cantonese pop songs playing, this place makes me homesick the moment I stepped in, not to mention the authentic and yummy Cha chaan teng style food! While I agree with other reviews that it may get busy during peak hours, it's definitely worth the wait!

Food is in “special” taste and definitely not the taste of traditional HK. Super heavy flavours that make you drink water whole day afterwards. Price wise is not cheap for what the quality provides. So tried three times and knew would never come back.

It's the best Hong Kong style restaurant in Sydney. Good cuisine and service. Their staff is polite and helpful. Also I will go back again for their ice milk tea!!

Friendly services and really great food. Was never a fan of Hong Kong style milk tea but quite like the signature chilled milk tea at this cafe. The menu has good variety of dishes to choose from. Will definitely go back there again!

Cute and small food place. The atmosphere is cozy with nice old HK style decor. They have many different kinds of asian food. We had Curry Chicken Rice in Bread, Hainan Chicken Rice, Kuey Teow Noodle... all very Yummy
Kenneth Lee
The food is good, high quality, have special choices not found in similar resturant. However, the milk tea (hot) is not to standard, and price high for that quality.
Chester Leung
Very authentic HK food, love their baked rice and ice milk tea, young and energetic staffs, good job Hong Kong Bing Sutt!

The best Hong Kong bing Sutt in Sydney 👍🏻I tried the milk tea and it tastes exactly what i drink in Hong Kong. Also I am Very enjoying the foods here. Must come back here again!!

The best Hong Kong style cafe within NSW area. Best of the best
Cara Mok
When we arrived at 11:30am the place was still relatively quiet. We ordered 5 chilled milk tea along with other food, but after having waited for our food and drinks for a while we followed up with the staff, only to be told that all milk tea was sold out and we had to re-order our drinks. Staff could be more helpful and attentive especially if items are not available they should tell customers in the first instance.

The best cuisine in Burwood, not a very big fan of hk style foods but hk bingsutt surprised me. Will definitely go eat there again!!

Excellent quality authentic Hong Kong style food! I love it! Highly recommended! Hot silky tofu fa and salt and pepper deep fried tofu are my favourites.
Hing Lo
Best traditional hk cafe style food in Sydney. Should give it a try.

Salted egg yolk fries 5 ⭐️: this was the best dish. The fries were slightly salted but also slightly sweet. So so so addictive highly recommend
Beef combination noodle soup 3 ⭐️: I thought this dish was quite average and resembled a lot of Vietnamese beef noodle soups. Great to share and very customisable with the type of noodles you want to eat it with and what broth you’d like to have it with
Seafood fried rice 2 ⭐️: personally not a huge fan of fried rice in general but I thought this was decent. It reminds me of Thai style fried rice. Give it a go if you like that sort of thing
Wings 3 ⭐️; very unique chicken wing flavour!
Overall this was a good experience because it was my first time eating Hong Kong style food. There seems to be a lot of egg toast and scrambled egg kind of dishes that are very popular. Note that the restaurant is quite small!

Wanted to book for a Sat dinner for 7. They don't take reservations and walk in only.

Changed to a Friday to suit them at 6pm, which they locked in. I ended up having to request time change to 7pm and they state they can't do it.

Awful customer service. I don't care how good the food is here, will not be putting up with this sh1t. Will take business elsewhere and will not be recommending this place to anyone.

Ps. I chose this place to celebrate my birthday a long with two others. Very disappointed and disgraced with this HK eatery.

Love their curry fish balls & cheong fun! Staffs were friendly — Felt kinda bad as we didn’t realised that they closed at 3pm and were still happily eating at 3:30pm 😣

When I heard a joint named Hong Kong Bing Sutt had opened, I knew I had to pay a visit - was so excited to potentially find another regular spot to get my cha chaan teng fix! Walking in, the decor was absolutely incredibly well done, with wall fixtures with HK street names scribbled across retro mailboxes, hanging birdcages, green and white furniture fittings down to the menu under the glass tabletop and the little placards teaching canto slang next to them - I was beyond impressed and had such high hopes!! Unfortunately, the food is so so below par here esp in consideration of the prices charged. SUCH A SHAME ☹️

The signature baked porkchop rice in bread was great presentation-wise but not in any other aspects. The pork was way overbreaded to the point where it tasted kind of gelatinous from the batter and a lot of it was pure chunks of fat. The fried rice was ok but nothing impressive.

We also ordered the tomato soup macaroni which was way too thick and sweet - tasted like a straight can of tomato soup barely condensed down and had no depth of flavour to it. Was not close to the authentic HK style at all.

Luckily the milk tea was great so sort of the redeeming factor. Served in nostalgic glass bottles and full-bodied with a nice creamy taste reminiscent of real HK lai cha.

Had high hopes for this spot and have visited twice but was let down both times so not likely to return unless for a quick afternoon tea of milk tea and bolo yau

Incredible food!!! Such an underrated place in Burwood and definitely deserves more attention due to its great prices and delicious food! The black pepper sauce was amazing! Will definitely be coming back :)
Lulu
Love how they’ve opened up a second side to the shop to accomodate for the amount of customers during its peak times. The food is always top quality, but be prepared to have the most popular pineapple bun be sold out if you go too late!!
The satay beef with scrambled egg was amazing (not pictured) and baked pork chop with white sauce on rice was just as tasty
Brandon Huu
Not bad if you’re looking for a quick HK fix, milk tea is very good. However if you’re after something more authentic it’s probably worth going to HK recipe in Eastwood.
Betterresult
Food came out quick but can't say it was likable. The milk tea is different tasting here, more milk than tea flavour. Chicken and instant noodles dish - the noodles sauce was very salty; and the beef chow fun a bit sweeter than usual but okay.
I liked the 80s-90s HK music, but it was a bit too loud

Fresh and great food , staff is very helpful , good options in mocktails and shakes ,. We ordered for chicken shawarma platter which was good in portion and tasty , nicely presented and the lamb stew also was delicious , will come back to try more dishes

If you’re looking for authentic, delicious and convenient Hong Kong food and snacks, this is the place to go. The portions are huge, the food offered is local Hong Kong dishes and the drinks are also yum. Great place and location.

This restaurant is quite popular, so I'd recommend to go early. They offer Hong Kongese style western food. It took quite long to get my food, my friends almost finished theirs. I ordered a pasta in bread, it was good. There are many other things on their menu looks good, will give a try next time

Despite the retro Hong Kong setting and homey atmosphere. This place was utterly ridiculous, the food was mediocre for it’s price and the service was terrible. After taking our order, the girl who served us came back after 10 minutes to inform us that they didn’t have 2 of the items we wanted, we didn’t think much of it and just re-ordered something else. Not only did the food take ages to come out, they still managed to mess up our order and told us that we’d have to wait a long time for them to replace the most basic dish (baked rice with pork chops and sauce). The last dish came out (hot and spicy chicken wings) tasting bitter and burnt. We were over it at this point but decided to be Good Samaritans and went to pay without complaining, our bill came to the total of $39.50, but the minimum amt for eftpos was $40, so we told them we were willing to pay the extra 50c if they could just round it up but they said no and made my friend walk all the way to the ATM to cash out. Terrible place, terrible food, terrible service, would not even want my worst enemy to come here.
Betty Lui
2nd visit was still disappointed. The food quality was very average. The radish was not well cooked. The noodle soup was not warm enough. The service was so disappointed again, no improvement.

I’m not sure of the origins of the restaurant name but I find myself referring to it as Butt Sing...

Anyway, I’ve been wanting to try this place for ages but it’s always been busy. My tip is to go early (before 10.30am) if you want to get in on the sweet milk tea and condensed milk French toast that always remind me of afternoon tea in Hong Kong cafes. It’s an extensive menu, which might explain how I was so distracted as to not notice I’d ordered a cheese toastie topped with condensed milk (I thought I was getting toast topped with condensed milk). Despite the unusual combination, it was rather delicious. The noodles in tomato soup are pretty much what you’d imagine. Note that the cafe accepts cash payment only.

Bits of Hong Kong Shopfront used to create a street scene reminiscent to the little alley ways that one could go to get cheap eats back in the 70s and 80s. the surroundings are certainly more of clean and current Hong Kong Streets. Whilst you work out the DYI menu using a white board marker to select your dish. Note make sure you don’t accidentally wipe off your selection before handing over to staff. A selection of Street food favourites like noodle rolls, stuffed eggplants and tofu to fried chicken wings can be chosen. As well as make your own noodles selecting a sauce , noodle, meats and vegetables.

The rice in a pot with chicken and Chinese wax sausage is bigger but less convincing then that avaialble at Yum Cha restaurants.

The stuffed fried vegetables were also just average and better and cheaper at Yum Cha.

The noodles here are pretty good though especially the braised beef. The HK pop should be turn down a tad too.

A nice little hk cafe with nice interior. The food is alright, nothing amazing. Their pork chop bake is pretty good. The prices are pretty high for a hk eatery though.

They have two parts and one of them just serve noodles so watch out lol. The food quality at the noodles cart is not as good as the other one, it is more like a fast food restaurant. The salted lemonade had a weird taste that I didn’t get along with. There was little sauce in my curry beef rice which was unsatisfactory. The whole experience at noodles cart was not good. However, the other side gets really amazing and various choices. I had the cheesy rice in a bread! It was delicious and huge! It was for almost four people to have and there were countless pork chops inside. The tomato flavor was also a delight match with pork chops and cheesy rice. I strongly recommend that.
Kellypai
The experience in this restaurant was not good, Some employees had poor service attitudes, busy is not the reason for the bad attitudes. For the foods, The flavor of tomato soup was too sweet, it’s just like a bowl of tomato can that could be bought at any supermarket and the beef brisket was really salty.

Hong Kong Bing Sutt has got you covered for all the classics but be sure to get the luncheon meat and fried egg stuffed inside a pineapple bolo bao bun!
Dreamer Down Under
I always keep getting suckered into coming back even the food is mediocre. It's the good marketing they do. This time we tried the snacks at the newly opened Cart Noodle side. Curry fish balls were average. I could tell which brand of fish balls were used, the tiny tough ones. Imitation shark fin soup was super watery. Rice paper rolls were microwaved, not steamed so it wasn't soft. At least the iced lemon tea was good, the way it should be. Decor is cool but food hasn't really improved much. But it's always so busy!

Hong Kong Bing Sutt has great seafood laksa, it’s a staple that I almost always order when I go to the restaurant. Their garlic fried chicken wings is also delicious, however I didn’t enjoy the hainan chicken with instant noodles in sweet & chili sauce, it had a weird flavor to it.
Doitforthefood
their signature baked pork chop with rice was very filling and the cheese was still sizzling when it arrived, however the tomato sauce got a bit too sweet for me towards the end. It was relatively empty around 12pm on a weekday but gradually started to fill up by 1pm.

The ambience was loud at the restaurant due to music played and background of other’s conversation. We did wait approximately 7mins to get a table at 730pm on Tuesday night. They were nice to seat us on a larger table and moved us into a smaller booth table later on which we requested otherwise we would have to share the table with strangers. I had baked curry and fried rice - which wasn’t nice & the fried rice was not fried with anything except maybe pepper speckles on the rice. The chicken curry was not nice. I had one taste and didn’t continue. I was hoping for something as good as beef brisket curry which a few reviewers suggested would be good except they didnt have a bake version which i wanted. The hot milk tea and red bean was yummy, the tea was not sweet but the red bean was. We also had fried seafood rice with garlic and chilli. This was nice, the flavour was great and there were substantial prawns and squid. Lastly we had tofu for dessert...I love tofu and this was a generous size. My recommendation is to offer ginger in the sugar syrup which I’ve had enjoyed and preferred but barely any restaurants offer this.
Jimmy Z
Baked pork chop rice was covered with melted cheese. Egg fry rice underneath absorbed heavy amount of sweetened tomato sauce, making it a flavorsome but soggy profile. Easy to get fulfilling though. Pork chop was marinated with soy sauce that goes not quit seamlessly with the overall sweet flavor profile. But I would definitely come back for another dishes in the hope to find some other dishes may send me true nostalgia.

Came here on a busy weekend with quite a few people lining up inside for seats. We were seated at a table amongst other customers due to the limited space. The baked pork chop was tasty and full of flavour. The service was good however it was quite a small cramped restaurant. The meals are on the pricier side for the portions.
Jack
Hong Kong street cafe simulator. However food and menu is limited still the experience is authentic, but underwhelmed somewhat with the food.
Mauyeeyee
The restaurant is full of Hong Kong vibes having retro decor with the 60s & playing Cantonese songs in the background. (It’s a bit too loud tho 😵) They offer typical Hong Kong Cha Chaan Teng’s food, which is Hong Kong style Western cuisine as well as fusion dishes. Price is a little high for the portion of food given. 😗

Overall food was ok. Baked pork chop rice was quite a popular dish, almost every table has ordered one. Who wouldn’t like melted cheese covering tasty pork chops in a bed of fried rice in rich tomato sauce? 🙂 Curry chicken with fried rice baked in a French bread was nice too, the bread was nicely toasted. Wish there was more curry sauce to dip the bread with, perhaps extra sauce served in a separate bowl would be nice. 🤔

Expect long wait in peak lunch/dinner hours because the place is very small. They have booth seating but couples have to share with strangers in peak hours. It’s super cramped without privacy, better dine somewhere else or wait for a table for two. 😬
Miki Huang
They have probably done everything right, the deco, the music, the menu etc etc. However, they have missed the most important part for a restaurant - taste of food. Food is very average. I gave it a second shot after I tried the first time about 2 years ago, I’m still disappointed and will not return. Not authentic at all.
David PCL
Taste of food is disgusting and bland. We ordered chicken wings and fried chips, too oily and we can say the cooking oil they use was ages old and we don’t feel well after the meal. We also ordered the French style toasted pork and rice, it was bland and over cooked. No flavor and just heaps of tomato sauce. We did not finish even one spoon of the food and left. And they charged us nearly 80 dollars for this kind of food and we can cook a lot better than this at home. Strongly NOT recommend this restaurant.
Dave Reviews
This place is great!!! Really takes me back to when I went to Hong Kong. Love some of the fusion. The baked pork chop with rice was good. And the beef brisket curry so flavoursome. Perhaps the baked french bread was too much, but worth a try nonetheless!!
Allyheartsfood
Service overall isn’t great. The taste of the dishes overall are all pretty average not worth the visit.Come here expected to wait and possibly share tables.

It is a place next to my gym - Snap Fitness and missus heard bout the Pineapple Butter Bun aka Bo Lo Yao from his brother so we went to try out one day... we fell in love with it. Great texture with crispy tops that cracked open on each bites. We can tell it is freshly bake from the flavor and taste. The milk tea is far more better than the rest of the Hong Kong milk tea in Sydney which we had tried (but original Hong Kong is the best, hence can’t compare till so far...).
We went back several times bringing our friends and a few from Hong Kong and they praised the bun and milk tea is by far, the best in town.
Other than that, we tried out some of their dishes and most of it is ok only not really those which you will go back to have it for second time.
The only thing which I love other than the bun is their Hainanese Chicken Rice. Chicken is cook to the perfect timing not over or under and it’s very smooth simply just melt in your mouth. That I give a thumbs up.
Other than that, especially the liver ginger noodles, even I am a crazy organ eater also can’t stand it - liver not consistent with some overcooked and a few undercooked but the most gruesome is, it still stinks which makes the whole soup smelly too.
Love the music as it is those oldies from the 90s’ which I grew up listening to BUT it is way too loud my friends and I have to yell at each other in order to communicate with each other... worst still when we sat on the large round table.
Taosiyu287982334
I will say the best curry beef brisket I had in Sydney, curry sauce is so rich of curry favour and beef brisket is so tender but not mushy, good with rice. Good try!👍🏻
Hai-nan chicken rice is also delicious that bring back my memory working 2 years in Singapore.😋

Finally we made it to this place that was recommended from many Hong Kong Friends of mine.
Very very authentic Hong Kong style restaurant. If u like Hk style food, here it is your must try.
As I left HK when I was a teenager, in here it can always remind me the old day eating out with fam or Frds. The service here is wonderful and helpful as it is my first time to come here. We ask for recommendations and the waiter is very patient and interesting so We ordered the bread bowl, the bread was filled with fried rice and pork chop with tomato sauce and melted cheese, the bread was really crispy, I would recommend to eat the bread together with the rice, this bread can be shared with others.
The drinks here definitely will make u hard to choose coz every single one look terrific. Someone sit next to us order the red bean ice which is great in style and I assume it tastes even better
I ordered hot coffee which I am pretty sure it is one of the best Barista in burwood. The fragrance of the coffee is authentic and long last.
I strongly recommend all of u to have a try especially u miss hk style food
Last but not least the music is sooo great Eason Chan Jacky Cheung and Beyond
Love this place which makes me less homesick

Came try there signature pineapple bun and 南乳chicken wings during there afternoon session with free milk tea, very satisfied with their snack and milk tea, will definitely come next time for their variety foods.

Yanyang baked rice😍 (can't remember the exact name) yanyang means two combination of foods, portion is big and good enough for sharing with two people or for the hungry and greedy people or for those people who have difficulty to make decision.😝😋I'll go again.👍🏻

Hong Kong Bing Sutt, very authentic HK cafe.

Had the following:

- Slice Ginger on Pork Liver with Instant Noodles, not many restaurants in HK selling this right now, luckily we found this dish in Sydney, liver are so juicy.

- Pineapple Bun with Thick Butter, a must try snack, crispy and hot bun which melted the thick butter.

HKBS is the best HK cafe in Sydney.
Food Love
Dinner at Hong Kong Bing Sutt- a cosy, traditional Hong Kong restaurant. A must try is this melted cheese french toast, a high carb snack but definitely worth it.
Jesinsyd
Thank you Hong Kong Bing Sutt, very good food!
Been there on Saturday afternoon with friends, waited for 20 mins and was assigned a boot seat, tables are small but it felt just like Hong Kong, love the feels.
Stanley Kwok
Never disappointed with their food, authentic HK food with 70s decor, music and tiny table reminded my high school lunch time with good old friends. Today I had:
- egg and luncheon meat sandwich, eggs was so fluffy.
- Hainan Chicken dried Noodle, sour and spicy sauce on juicy chicken, can't imagine this combination is so right.
- Devil egg and luncheon meat with rice, love their creative idea and sweet soya sauce is so delicious , this dish is a basic dish in HK that bring back my memory.
Overall the best "cha chan teng" in Sydney.
Karen Chan
Love the food, very authentic. All the chef’s recommendations are really worth trying and will come back for more.
Only con is the music is always too loud!!
Tiger
The signature milk tea was very sweet and very small portion for what it was charged for. The fact that they don’t serve you water for the table made the whole meal less pleasant. The curry beef was very very salty. The curry itself was ok, but the beef was extremely fatty and chewy, not tender at all. The tofu fa was fresh and quite big, enough for two people to share. I don’t think I will be back again considering the tight seating and the taste of the food.
Ello~
The environment is yuck. The seat is so so so so... TINY!!!!!!! If you want a nice place to sit comfortably enjoying your meal. This place can be removed from your options!

The service is terrible. I went there when half of the table not even was occupied. It was a bit quiet as I was like early 5ish. I was not serve to be seated when I walked in. I was just being ignored. So I just help myself. After I have sit down I was told this was a table for 4, I may have to share table. I told her that's fine. Honestly, I can see there's some other tables for 4 were only occupied by 2 ppl. After few min 2 ppl walk in. This time the same waitress did not ignored them as what she did to us. She came to me and said she will fit those 2 ppl to my tiny little table for sharing when there's at least two table for 2 are free and some other table for 4 were occupied by 2. Well, I don't mean to rude. When she told me she will make those 2 ppl sharing the table with us.I just simply asked her one question why don't you get them to sit on the empty two people tables or some other table for 4 occupied by 2. Why is it has to be my table. I m not refusing her arrangement I just need an answer to know why. Maybe it has been reserved. Why my table is being chosen to squeeze my friend and I in a tiny little seat to have my meal! Then she didn't tell me why but just say that's fine and walk away. She then served the 2 ppl on a empty table for 2. 😡😠😤

Frankly, their food is not bad. I would only recommend this resturant if you want to get takeaway!

I think they are more suitable to run their business at a food court.
Gloria Chu
Very authentic Hong Kong food, especially the baked rice.

It can get really busy at dinner time, and the music is a little bit too loud, but overall the tasty food is good enough for us to return regularly as happy customers.

My friends and I are born and raised in Hong Kong, and we all agreed that Hong Kong Bing Sutt has the best baked rice we have had in Sydney, really close to the taste back home.

I also find their tomato macaroni soup dishes really yummy, the soup is really rich and hearty, and the onsen egg goes well with the macaroni soup, enriching the creaminess of the tomato soup.

They have introduced some new items on their menu lately, and my most recent visit is to try them out. I ordered the Hainanese chicken "lo-ding" (instant noodles with sauce) and baked chicken rice with white sauce. The sour and spicy chilli went well with the instant noodles with sauce; the chicken was tender in both dishes; the baked chicken rice's white sauce was subtle but creamy, and the way the runny centre of the onsen egg yolk oozed to the rice, it was really appetising!

My worst dining experience ever. We ordered Tomato soup with beef, but they gave us a soup without beef (not even one slice of beef!). And we also ordered tomato soup with pork and then they served us with Hainan Chicken & Rice (My friend wrote very neatly so there is no way they could read it wrong). Seriously, how on earth can a restaurant offer you a beef soup without any beef???

Decent eat, milk tea was nice and refreshing.

Pineapple Bun average, butter to salty. Needs to be sweeter.

Pine apple bun with egg, was ready good, worked well.

Curry Chicken in 🍞 was good, but bread was awesome.

Pork chop 🍅 rice was to sweet.

The menu wasn't exactly Hong Kong style, food tasted ok. Hygiene is an issue.

Hygiene is an issue - the tables were dirty and greasy; more disgusting, the waiter was blowing his nose with thin tissue as he was walking around and reaching us to take orders. He then walked back to food serving area without washing his hands. I saw it and lost my appetite thinking of I don't want to eat whatever he brought me carrying the plates...
The environment wasn't too comfortable because music was too loud.

Authentic Hong Kong cafe food. The decorations are old time cafe and plays old Cantonese songs. The food size are a standard portion but not a cheap eat.

Great milk tea ! Had the tea flavour and the sweetness just right. Has the feeling like your in a Hong Kong and the table sharing is just the added touch of culture to the place. A place for comfort food and fuss free food.
the baked rice is amazing !
Brunonono...
Definitely feels like your in a Hongkie ice room...and what's on to offer mirrors what you'd expect to find on the menu too bar the Baked Bread Rice Dish...."that's a spawn of instagram"....but yeah we ordered cause we're mild suckers for these things :)

The Swiss sauce rice noodles very interesting but again I prefer the original or the original with Prawn Sauce...

The Pork Belly with "south rain" hahaha jks** "fermented bean curd" I don't know if it needs a fried treatment...the braised version is the bomb!!!!

Oh please add more red bean to the red bean ice...after mixing it's all vanilla and milk taste....

Food is average.
One thing I can't accept here is they only have limited milk tea provide daily.
Specially if you wish to order for take away think again as they will only serve for dine in customer first and will refuse to sell for any takeaway orders doesn't matter how big the order you going to order. As they think dine in customer is more important.
Been so many Chinese/Hong Kong restaurants never have seen limited milk tea not even in Hong Kong.
And why should be any different with take away customers and dine in customer.
I will not going back as I don't feel any respect on that. Either you don't do it or not for takeaway otherwise everyone should be equal.
Ordered 3 items but only 2 was acceptable so the rating is 3.

Milk tea = OK.
Dried noodle w chicken wing in homemade Swiss sauce = rip off! For $11.80, even my 5 year old can finish it herself.
Baked rice in Bun = tasty but 40 minutes wait. Btw it wasn't peak 12 noon period. We sat down bout 1250. I can understand bake items take longer but I feel 40minutes is too much on top of the 20 mins wait prior to being seated.

Do go there. Just bring a good book!

Food is so so... had the hainan chicken laksa. Laksa tastes like it's from a can and the chicken although succulent, it tasted quite bland. The price is reasonable (I think $12.50), but the lady at the counter receiving money turned a mediocre dining experience into "I am definitely not coming back" experience. They were suppose to give us a slip/bill when they gave us the food so we can pay at the counter afterwards. When we told her we were not given any slip, she looked annoyed and had a scowl on her face. I recited our order so she can find it - she still had her face scrunched up after we paid for it. Think she is either the owner or the manager - def should not be working at the front counter there with that god awful temperament of hers!

Baked pork chop was dry and mushy, rice was kind of flavourless. HK milk tea was ok. Service was mediocre, as expected for a Chinese restaurant.

Nothing was amazing, nothing worth visiting again.

Hongkong bingsutt, a big disappointment.
Disappointing service, ok food.
What happened is we made our order, we write down the item numbers on the menu per required. We ordered a fresh tomato & beef with rice/spaghetti, we actually wanted spaghetti, but it comes with rice. However, the staff took our order, and they didn't confirm with us which one we wanted but only assumed that we want rice, so our dish was served with rice. We required to change to spaghetti which cost little for a restaurant, but they claimed that it was our fault that we didn't tell them if we want rice or spaghetti and refused to change to spaghetti for us. As for Instagram purpose, we started taking some photos. The manager or owner came out and checked if we were ok, and if there is anything wrong. We said we are just taking photos for social media. He said to us that we should have told them earlier that we are bloggers/media people, so they can make food be more presentable. In my own opinion, food and service should always be the same no matter who we are, don't treat people based on what titles they have. And when there is a incomplete ordering system, they should consider to do something with it instead of blaming customers. Even tho they changed another rice dish to spaghetti for us afterwards, we weren't happy with the service overall. The photos were only phone photos, because I don't even want to take my time to edit camera photos from this shop. 😩😩

A very hongkong style coffee house! Details to the tiles on the wall gives a traditional feeling of what a typical hongkong styled coffee house is like. Food serves in a tradition manner as well but of course the taste is not 100%. That is because the ingredient, the sauce and the cost. Definitely will revisit. Just sitting there makes me happy.

It's okay. It kind of got full when I came around midday on a Sunday. I ordered the French bread with pork chops. The sauce is tomato and has a lot of rice. Too much rice actually. I didn't eat the whole thing. You can only pay cash.

Very authentic Hong Kong style food that you can find in traditional Hong Kong cafes. We have ordered the few signature dishes, incl. Swiss sauce chicken wings, combination laksa, tomato soup with hainan chicken, baked pork chop rice and tofufa. All very good although a little bit pricy. Will surely go back.

But it's a pity and unusual that it is not opened during the normal afternoon tea hours with so many of the classic Hong Kong style afternoon snacks are served there....
The best Hong Kong Restaurant I have ever been to in Sydney, and I have been there for 5 times.

The deco is in Hong Kong style, reminding me a lot of my life in Hong Kong.
The restaurant is busy almost every day, especially 6 pm to 8 pm, where there were a lot of people queuing outside.

They offer very unique, special, and delicious Hong Kong food(which is usual in Hong Kong). I first recommend #Pineapple Bun with Butter# An everywhere snack in Hong Kong. It's like a bakery with butter and a pineapple bun. But the best thing is that they combined them together, with butter inserted into the bun. If you bite with both bread and butter, the taste is awesome.

For rice, I would go with #Baked Pork Chop with fried rice# , rice as base, cooked with pork meat which tastes a little bit sweet, covered with melted cheese. It's their signature dish. However, the upgraded version #Backed french bread + Baked Pork Chop with fried rice# is a huge dish for two person or more, and it's cooked in a unique way which combines western french bread and Chinese fried rice together. I had never tasted that but I thought the original one would be better.

#Snow Red Bean with Ice-cream# Vanilla ice-cream on top, and red bean at the bottom. Milk tea is in the middle, sweet and nice.

However not all food is great.
#Evil Pork Luncheon and eggs over rice with sweet soya sauce# is tedious, 3 eggs on top of the rice, and only 3 pork luncheon.

I'll definitely come back for more dishes. I'm willing to try out all their specials(There are 10 signature dishes on the ad outside).

Came here probably with too much expectation after seeing the pics. Those who love hong kong style 'coffee houses' will enjoy this and will be familiar with their menu offerings.

Tofu w preserved egg n coriander 2.75/5, a meal in itself even without rice. Tofu and eggs are minced n mixed w coriander on top. Gets a bit heavy after a while.

Fermented bean pork chop, simply dry, overcooked, close to being inedible 2/5.

French bread baked rice pork chop 2/5, insta worthy dish, best shared amongst 2-3 peeps. Taste is a flop.

Chicken rice w sand ginger sauce 2.5/5, basically 'hainan' chook w finely grated ginger topping (hence the literal translation of 'sand ginger') 😆

Dried noodle w beef brisket cheese curry sauce 2.75/5, a heavy heavy dish best eaten on an empty stomach. Beef was tender enuf.

Dried noodle w chicken wings n swiss sauce 2.5/5, overly sweet wings, barely works w the instant noodle.

Hainan chicken laksa 3.25/5, the highlight of our visit. Generous portion w a side of 'hainan' chicken leg (without the sandy ginger topping haha). Broth little too salty though.

They do get busy so be prepared to share tables. It is their 'policy' for patrons to share tables as placards are stuck on every table suggesting so. (Forgot to take the pic lol).

A small hidden place right next to the train line.
I do like the ambience in here with the letter boxes on the middle pole and other decorations
It's interesting to see the menu on the table covered by glass, nice move!
We ordered the chicken wings with Swiss sauce,I don't know what swiss sauce is bur it tasted like thick soy sauce.
Nice for what it is but they charge a bit much for it
What caught my attention was the French bread with pork chop
A very instragrammer-able picture I couldn't manage to take a decent photo of it
It's this large circular bread with pork chop and cheese on top and tomato rice at the bottom, enough for 2 people

While it did taste nice and I enjoyed the simple taste of the tomato rice, the pork chops occasionally had bones in it
And the price for it isn't justified
You probably would have gotten the same amount of meat from other dishes but not for the same cost
The higher price is due to a lot of rice and the bread is what I'm assuming
Maybe u should of tried the curry chicken option instead

Was expecting more

Photos on truelocal

Hong Kong Bing Sutt Cafe & Co is like one of the many cafes that you'll find all over the streets and alley ways of Hong Kong. Unlike Western cafes, HK style cafes serve Canto-Western cuisine, which is unique to Hong Kong. As the name suggests Canto-Western cuisine is a combination of Cantonese and Western dishes served in the local way.
Ph.D!
Hong Kong Bing Sutt is a small HK style cafe in Burwood. There's always a line during dinner, therefore prepare to wait.

The pork chop baked rice was quite bland and the rice very soggy 👎. I also ordered Tomato Beef with Spaghetti, but they ran out of spaghetti, so it had to be rice. That dish was average, probably tasted better with spaghetti. Chicken & Salted Fish fried rice was quite tasty! I liked that.

Tofu Fa was was very smooth and yummy. HK Milk tea was average, nothing to shout out about.

Will come back to try other dishes. Hopefully we will pick better dishes next time.

I visited HK Bing Sutt on a Tuesday for lunch and was able to get a table straight away but the place was busy. I order the Yuanyang drink which is a combination of coffee plus tea and it was above average for Sydney standards. We order the Hainanese Chicken Rice which was ok and the Char Kway Teow that was a decent size, large prawns and very tasty. Next time I want to try their signature dish baked pork chop rice. This place is a good edition to the Burwood food scene and reasonably priced.

Such a good location, barely 2 minutes walk from the station. I'm not kidding when I say GO EARLY if you don't want to wait at least 40 minutes for a table for 4 on a Saturday night. We weren't in a rush though so we just used the time to chill and chat.

Service is typical HK style greetings, straight forward no nonsense service. You write down your order for them like the new age Yum chas. You will also possibly be sat with other people if you only have 1-2 people. I don't see what's wrong with this, it's very typical of Hong Kong style cafes, especially as this place is very small. Loved that they were playing old Chinese music over the speakers.

Food came quite quickly - anything baked of course came later since they take longer to make. The curry they use is very tasty, a little on the sweet side. We wanted to get the French bread but they only make a limited number per day and they'd run out. Servings were generous and all four of us were full to the brim when we left.

The drinks were awesome! Lots of variety and they even had creaming soda with milk :) Will be back to try the other stuff on the menu, but only if I'm not in a hurry to go anywhere 😅

HK Bing Sutt. As soon as I heard it's a Hong Kong style cafe, I jumped at the chance to eat there. Because from my experience, Hong Kong cafes are cheap tastes meals that are worth your money. Sadly this was not the case.

The restaurant itself is very small, let's say it could probably fit 25 ppl. So yes we had to wait for a bit before getting seated. We also shared a table, like you would in a cafe in Hong Kong, so we didn't mind. Large groups would probably not come here. There was one large table which could fit 8 ppl comfortably.

So the menu has icons next to the items, which tells you signature dishes, camera worthy dishes. So ofc we pick the signatures which happen to also be camera worthy.

We had the pork chop and rice which is baked inside of bread. This looks delicious on the menu. So it's $12 for normal baked pork chop and rice. And with the bread it's $24. That's extra $12 for BREAD. I didn't mind, I had high expectations and everyone was eating it. So it arrives, looks delicious, big bread (could serve 2 people) filled with the good stuff served on a wooden board. I scoop into it, the rice is nice tomato and real cheesy. Loving the rice. And then you bite into the pork chop, dry as a desert and as hard as cardboard. Not good at all. The rice was good but not good enough to forgive that pork.

Hainan chicken. Now this was unexpected, this came with a bowl of laksa instead of rice. Now that chicken was delicious. And the laksa was hot hot. The chicken was the tastiest of the night for sure.

Baked curry chicken with rice was a very big serving. The chicken was hard to eat as the pieces were big and not cut up. The sauce was not hot like a curry but more on the sweet side. This also had the baked bread option which was also double the price.

Curry beef with rice. The curry beef was quite nice. Nice flavour and beef was tender. But you could really get this anywhere.

And don't forget their signature bottled iced milk tea ... this is just normal iced milk tea that they serve in any HK style cafe. Not so sure what was special apart from the bottle.

All in all. I would not return here. As their signatures are not really signatures cz I could get the same thing elsewhere, which prob taste better.

Went for the first time today and it was ok!
We popped in just before the lunch rush so it wasn't much of a wait. We shared a Fried Rice Noodle with Swiss sauce which was not bad (a bit sweet for me because I'm used to the version with dark soy sauce). Pineapple bun with butter was warm and sweet --loved it! Yuan Yang was pretty good by sydney standards, better than others here. Service was prompt and friendly. We'd definitely go again 😊

For those not used to sharing tables, it's a part of everyday HK cafe life so be prepared to have to share if you get one of the bigger tables and you don't have many ppl. It's all part of the experience!

Hong Kong Bing Sutt in Burwood, hidden location with an all-time waiting line in front of it - this is when you know they must have some real deals here. We came in quite late after dinner hour on a rainy day hoping to avoid the line but still ended up in waiting for 20 minutes. However, when we finally got to taste it, we were blown away - oh yah, worth the wait! Best Pork Chop Fried Rice and Tofu Fa in Sydney so far.
Check out our blog for the food hunting video

My trip to Hong Kong last year was enlightening in more ways than one. It was really cool being somewhere in which I wasn’t the minority, the ads were designed to cater to me and I was considered taller than the average person. I ate well, drank well and slept like a baby even if the average closing time for a business in Hong Kong was 4am.

The food was average and the customer service was unbearably terrible! They kept annoying us to share our table (very small 4 seats table) with other customers and didn't seem to let us go when we said no.
If you like sitting next to strangers side by side. That's the restaurant for you ;D.
NTT
I went on a Sunday night at about 6:30pm. We waited for a little over one hour to get a seat (the place is quite small), and some customers had complaints about the wait time and why people who came after them got seats first. The waiting system uses raffle tickets instead of a sheet of paper out front, meaning that it's not clear as to what position you are in queue and the waiter seemed to jump back and forth through numbers when calling for tables, e.g. calling 52 and then 67 afterwards (which was really frustrating for people waiting for a very long time).

Otherwise, the food was quite decent - the hainan chicken with the laksa was *very* soft and tasty, and the baked rice was served fresh.

The milk tea does not live up to the HK standard in my opinion, but it was still a decent drink nonetheless - though probably not worth $5.30.

If you're not against lining up for food, this place may tickle your fancy - but if poor queue organisation and waiting is not for you, I would not recommend this place.

Came here with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Cheesy-baked pork chops on fried rice was tasty but I would've liked more meat. The version in a bread bowl had more meat and a light, crisp crust to nibble on. However, it was double the size and could get monotonous so best to share this among 2-3 people unless you're a carb fiend. Laksa with Hainan chicken was a generous portion. The laksa broth was creamy and rich, with a peppery heat like Sichuan peppers. My friend thought her Swiss chicken wings on instant noodles were a bit too sweet. The chilli and garlic fried chicken wings were delightfully crispy and my favourite part was the additional chilli seasoning on top. Top tip: sprinkle that mix over the pork chop fried rice for an umami boost. French toast was too well-done for me, would not order it again. But the polo bun was a satisfying sandwich of sweet bun, fried egg and luncheon meat. Having said that, the luncheon meat was quite mild; I think a stronger flavoured version might be a better match for the sweet bun. Drinks were all tasty especially the milk tea. Take note that the coffee uses espresso. Service was hit and miss: friendly staff but food came out at wildly different times. And they run out of the milk tea quite early so make sure you order that first. It's not a big space and there's a perpetual queue at peak hours. Difficult for large groups but otherwise, I'd say this place is worth trying especially if you enjoy this cuisine.
Loiste
A bit hit and miss. While the curries and baked rice are quite tasty, their beef noodles in tomato soup are nothing more than instant noodles in a watery Heinz spaghetti sauce - highly disappointing and we expected more from this dish. The French toast with Nutella is also just two slices of greasy fried bread with a thin smear of chocolate sauce in between, so steer clear of this one too. I have heard that their milk tea is quite good, but didn't get to try it on this occasion. All in all, I might go back for their 'specialty' dishes, but you can find higher quality versions of some of the other meals elsewhere.
