Review Taikoo Li - Burwood

Yummy Chinese food was lots of options. The spicy clams and shredded potato dishes were an absolute delight. Service was so so. It would have been better if all the dishes arrived around the same time. There was quite a bit of wait between dishes but it was very busy at lunch.

Nice dining atmosphere with friendly staff. Waiting staff had great customer service and very helpful. There was a good variety of Chinese food on the menu, food presentation was nice however, the food taste was okay. Good size servings.

A lot of very interesting dishes on offer. I felt adventurous and ordered bullfrog with chilli and ginger, with a couple of side dishes. The wait time for the food was not long at all. The bullfrog was surprisingly tasty (it reminds me of chicken). All three dishes were quite spicy. It was an enjoyable experience, I will head back to try some of the other dishes.

Came here twice, first time had the Duck clay pot rice and steamed egg with clams. Second time had the sizzling squid and salted egg corn. The quality is very good, very authentic and full of flavour. However, like others have said the wait time is very long for your food. Both times my partner and I waited at least 20-30 mins. Be very mindful of coming here if you or the people you go with cannot read and speak Chinese. The staff do not speak English well and the menu/ ordering system is in Chinese. Can be hard to communicate but still doable. Wait time however - needs improving. 4.5 stars for food - but wait time and language is an issue.

Great serving size and an overall very affordable meal. Loved the vinegar potato and would 100% come back here.

Specialising in Sichuan cuisine, Taikoo Li also offers popular non-spicy rice pot set. The set comes with steamed rice cooked in claypot, a dish of your choice, pickled veggies & sweet soup. 🙂 There are various of choices to choose from, I opted Pork Ribs and Mushroom Rice Pot. The pork ribs were tender and mixed mushrooms soaked up all the flavourful sauce. Some people might find the sauce a bit greasy but it didn’t really bother me that much as I finished the whole pot of rice with the rich flavourful sauce. 😋<br/><br/>The Spicy Sliced Chicken Cool Noodle was a nice appetiser. The creamy peanut-y sesame sauce with a little kick really satisfies your cravings. The portion size is great to share between two people. 🙂

One of my favourite places to eat! Although have not been here in a while since the upgrades so I must come back! Definitely recommend!

I tried purple rice&yogurt shake as well as sugar ice jelly,that’s amazing.Not even say Sichuan style dishes worthwhile the price

Food was decent, suits our taste quite well. However, service was a bit inconsistent. 1st dish came out quite quick, 2nd dish only came out around 15-20 mins later, and it was on a tinfoil bowl instead of a claypot bowl.

The food was average but totally out of expectation. The rice was served in a foil tray. We could place the sides onto the rice on our own. We’re so surprised to receive a dessert (Chinese sweet soup) instead of hot soup. Nice experience!

Very disappointed. Some of the dishes are precooked and heated up in microwave oven when you order. Only one dish out of 6 dishes we ordered is fresh cooked. DON'T ORDER THE DUMPLING. THE SKIN IS SO THICK AND tastes like plastic. Very bad experience.

The dish I ordered barely had any meat and more vegetables, rice was not even crispy it was mushy, flavourless and also was expensive. I really wanted to get clay pot rice but this was definitely a let down.

terrible awful experience i ordered 4 dishes on a saturday at 9:30 p.m and about 2 came out when i asked the waitress she looked at me and said 2 mins they had forgotten then i noticed all the staff coming out and sitting down in the dining table i asked the waitress why she had forgotten my food she looked and said sorry no english but understood enough to make me pay my bill i then sat down and finished my food when i noticed that all the staff waitress cooks chefs all sat down and began to eat in front of customers i was disgusted of their lack of professionalism you dont even see staff and mcdonalds or kfc eating in front of their customers it appeared that they were more interested in eating their dinner than remembering order i will never go back again disgusting service and lack of english get people that cant speak english being burwood doesnt make it china

Best part of this place is that it opens till late. Decent food and vibe. I’m more of rice person and choose to eat rice pot only in every visit 😆 consistent food quality.<br/>Overall it’s a easy and comfortable place for a decent meal. If they replace their plastic containers with actual glass for drinks, that will be a huge favour to the environment. 💝<br/>

Nice wide place. I like the ambience. The portion of food is ok. Taste of food was good. Had the waiter/waitress been a bit friendlier it would be great. Good place to go with friends and family. Couples can also go.

Pleasantly surprised with the food. Tasty and full of flavour. We had the eggplant stone pot rice, stirfry chicken stone pot rice (both spicy- not too much, just the right amount of heat + comes with white fungus sweet dessert soup) & the kids had the chicken mushroom noodle soup. Also orders a portion of pork & chive dumpling, goes super well with the black vinegar! <br/><br/>Sorry folks but got carried away I started in the food before had chance to snap a pic!<br/><br/>The ambience was also nice - aircon running perfectly to offset the heat from the food.

Ordered spicy boiled beef with house soup and chive + pork dumplings. The main dish tasted alright and was definitely spicy. The house soup was a bit bland but it paired well to aid in eating the beef. Dumplings were really tasty though

I enjoyed eating here and the dumplings are very nice. It was easy to order as you just tick whatever you want to eat in the sheet given to you on your table. Service is pretty prompt too.

Friendly staff and Spacious room<br/><br/>Thai sauce with basa fillets rice pot doesn't taste as good as its picture. Too hot to eat and waiting for a long to let it cool down. The flavour was quite pale and the sauce was not enough to mix all the rice. Probably need to improve. <br/><br/>However, So-called Hermes brown sugar Ice Jelly was fantastic. Actually, the modified ice jelly tastes better than the old school Chengdu Ice Jelly.

Clay pot rice set is good for value! Came here with my friends late at night, my pork ribs with potatoes clay pot rice was quite nice, and it has nice crispy bottom. The set was very worth it, considering it came with soup, steam egg, a small cold dish and a milk tea. <br/>The reason that I am only giving a 3/5 was that I was the only person at our table that actually likes my food, neither of my friends enjoyed it, they commented the food as “passable only”. So I wasn’t sure if it was just my luck that I happened to order a good one. One thing we all agreed on, was that the milk tea is quite awful, we could hardly finish it. But I am willing to go back and try something else to try again in the future and update my review when I do.<br/>The storefront felt very clean...with nice ambience. Comfortable environment and service was decent.

Actual rating: 3.5<br/><br/>Didn't know what to expect at Taikoo Li so I was pleasantly surprised. They have a whole section for rice pots where you choose your protein and how crispy you want the rice crust to be (I guess this determines how much oil goes on the bottom?). My friend had the duck and sweet sausage (lap cheong) while I decided on the black pepper beef. Both were tasty and I enjoyed my meal. I recommend making it a meal for $3 extra, as you get a small bowl of soup and 2 daily side dishes - we had a seaweed salad and braised offal. Probably worth mentioning that they use basmati rice so the texture is slightly different to the normal claypot rice dish. The restaurant is spacious, clean and bright. Along with friendly and prompt service, this is a good spot for meals in the area. Keen to try the spicy food next as that seems to get good reviews.

位置很好，店面看起来很漂亮，绿色很干净很清新。味道也不错～译文<br/>Very authentic sichuan food, very delicious, the attitude of the waiter is very good, a variety of food is very distinctive, like, hope to come over to eat.

Dumplings are a little bit small, however it’s not expensive. Good place for ppl like me that is missing home cos u can have some spicy food here.

This restaurant is wonderful and the staff are very lovely food is of top quality and there are an abundant of choices, I love spicy food and this restaursnt really really has some dishes with extra punches. I highly recommend anyone to go to this restaursnt

Always come here for lunch and dinner. It’s a good choice for single and family. Never miss it. Brown sugar rose and ice jelly and spicy popo chicken are really good.

Great chengdu cuisine, spicy and tasty. Delicious noodle made of beans. The toasted squid with rice is yammy. Nice and clean environment with a cute panda as a mascot.

This is a very good place. Very delicious! Environment very good. And the most important thing is they work late until 2am. Beer buy one get one free.

This restaurant occupies a huge space and when you first walk in you could mistake it for a light showroom. It’s lights galore here! Hate to see. Their power bill.<br/><br/>Now to the food. The Pork and Chives dumpling are tasty and definitely up to scratch. Nicely presented and come with a dipping dish of black vinegar which is a nice touch.<br/><br/>The Roast pork in red bean <br/>With chilli oil green noodle was tasty with hints of coriander and szchuen peppers without it been over powering like others around.
