Review Spicy Joint - Burwood

Highly recommend the sour pickled fish and pork with preserved veges. Food here is authentic, packed full of flavour with many options to choose from. Big portion sizes for most dishes šŸ‘

Extremely delicious spicy food! Some items arenā€™t spicy so enjoyable for those with low spice tolerance. The chengdu cold noodles and jellyfish head were the best. Wouldnā€™t recommend item 606 steamed pork ribs with sticky rice because it was too salty and requires 30minutes to prepare. I donā€™t think itā€™s worth the wait. Service was efficient and workers were polite and accommodating.

Was my goto place for takeaway during lockdown. Was great to finally get there and experience the amazing dishes.

After visiting China and trying Spicy Joint, you realise how close they replicate the flavours. A lot of real traditional Food here which is the same that I had when I was over there. Some of the dishes may seem to have a lot of Chillies but you can ask them to make it more mild to your taste. Highly recommend the Spicy Fish Dish! Good overall restaurant that satisfies the cravings.

My go-to place when I crave spicy Chinese food. Get spicy pork slices to eat with chengdu cold noodles and your tongue will thank you. The food is so good it makes up for the average (sometimes bad) service.

The food quality is good I'd say, but hit & miss especially during peak hours. Prices are within the comfort zone. Service..not that bad tho a particular skinny bloke is not as friendly. He came out of nowhere and put a plate of dish right infront of my mate because we ran out of space. Not a word, no interaction nothing. Its like you're being a pain šŸ˜… We know you're busy but hey, be professional.

If you are a big fan of Chinese spicy food. You have come to the right place then. The tasty food is worth the long waiting time for a table. Booking in advance will be a good idea. Each table has got a bottle of hand sanitiser, which prompts good hand hygiene. In a word, it's worth trying.

Ordered takeaway just an hour ago. Very less portion till I thought someone stole it, taste was average only. Very oily, even laminate to cover for the takeaway boxes, oil still spilled out a lot...Very disappointed!

Food came quick and was average. Poor service was a major turn off for me. The waiters didnā€™t even bother to set out cutlery and utensils for the whole table, just did half and left the rest. Couldnā€™t even ask the waiter a simple question about the menu without them looking as if I was hassling them.

Please train staff better.

Authentic sivhuan cuisine, as a person from sichuan, spicy joint is the restaurant i would go every time when i miss the flavor of my hometown.

ā€œAuthentic Sichuan tasteā€ - my mother who comes from Guangzhou. The lettuce dish had strong peanut butter taste, a bit overboard for me. The other dishes had lovely spice but the chicken included peanut taste which threw me off. The noodles are an absolute steal, I got both the dandan and the other one for $3.90 each. Itā€™s affordable and has decent service, lovely atmospheric decor but most importantly, REAL SICHUAN TASTE. If you love spicy chinese food, this is the place for you despite not being the place for me. My mother loved eating here but agreed the peanut was strong.

Beautiful authentic restaurant. When you walk in you are greeted with the smell of delicious dishes. The menu is quite extensive. It is like a magazine full of images so you can see exactly what you are ordering. I thought this was quite helpful and beautiful.

When they call themselves ā€œSpicy Jointā€ they really live up to the name. I ordered a beer hot pot dish and it was literally one of the hottest dishes I have ever ordered. Although extremely spicy, it was enjoyable and I quite liked this dish. I also ordered a small Dan Dan noodle as well as a pork belly dish. The noodles were really tasty and great value ($3.90 and it somewhat filled me up) while the pork belly was tender and flavoursome. I always order fried buns when I go to any Chinese place that offers them and Spicy Joint provided great buns.

This restaurant is perfect for a small group of people. Iā€™ve seen it get quite busy at night but when I went at lunch we were seated straight away.
